On the topic of hybriding MNFs, I have been told and seen from a friend that Soom normal is a pretty good match to Fairyland normal. They found this through a company that could/would match Soom resin, but not fairyland, so they took a chance and got a body in matched "Soom normal" for a floating mnf head they have. I have seen the doll in pix and in person and it's nice. Not 100%, but like sometimes companies can't even match themselves between resin batches and years, so for a hybrid it's good.
I ordered a Shushu and a Woosoo through DDE! I cannot wait to see all of these gorgeous new dolls sometime this summer?? In the meantime I need to get my Kai ready for some company.
Does anybody know how to put Ariel vampire’s wings together? They’re kicking my butt right now. (I am being precious with them because I don’t want to break them but I wasn’t expecting to have to assemble magnetic hinges.) ETA Neeevermind I figured it out.
Also on the topic of hybriding Fairyland natural skin, Impldoll real skin is a very close match. My Alicia is on the Impldoll 1/4 Plump body and the match is near perfect. I got a 3D printed neck key for the body and it was easy enough to swap it with the s-hook without needing to restring the whole body. Impldoll also has a few other 1/4 scale bodies that would likely look very nice with MNF heads. Spoiler: Nude comparison of MNF to Impldoll body
Hi all, I've been out of the game for quite a while and wondering what the consensus on MNF boy bodies are. I have a couple MNF mir/mika heads that used to share a boy body that was the only boy MNF body option at the time. I heard there was a newer one and wondering if I can use it with the heads?
Is Fairyland the best place to get minifee-size shoes from? I've been having trouble finding them in the wild. Does anyone have any recommendations?
@tsukibun All of my girls that aren’t full sets are wearing resin shoes from Fairyland. They’re usually in stock at DDE so it’s not a huge issue picking them up. I did look through Etsy, but it’s such a pain finding things made for their specific foot size I decided to go with what I knew would absolutely fit.
DDE lists under 1/4th shoes a few that fit MNF in their in stock shoe listings I tend to buy my dolls sneakers and boots there.
@dragolivia If the original body has the neck key mechanism the newer bodies use, the heads should be compatible. Both my Minifee are newer, but both my Active line girl body and Fairyline boy body have heads that work with the same neck mechanism. On the topic of shoes, I have one pair of the Fairyland resin magnet ones, and also have some DDE 1/4 ones that fit well, though some are too big. Here's Diana in a pair that fit perfectly- Diana Does anyone have any advice on how to straighten a wig? I don't really like the way it sort of sticks out at the bottom.
I'd recommend boiling water! You can either pour it over the wig in the bathtub, or dip the wig in a pot of freshly boiled water. Just make sure to use oven mitts or tongs to keep from burning yourself!
Took some photos as we've been having gloriously sunny (but windy) spring weather and I finally found the dress I got for my girl. I'm dreadful for putting things in a safe place then completely forgetting! It's from Alice's Collection and a touch loose on my minifee but she has the small bust so it may sit better on one with more boobage. Also tried a peach faux fur wig I had on her too and the colour suits her quite nicely as does the straighter style even if it is a bit small. Gives more options. Oh she's also decided her name is Fern, it just popped into my head as I unpacked her from her box. Fern (April 2025) by Ali MacTavish-Riach, on Flickr
Thank you @EmanonUK, I think the peach wig (or something similar) will definitely become one of her styles as it frames her face nicely and makes her eyes stand out more. Fern (April 2025) by Ali MacTavish-Riach, on Flickr
I love her! She looks like the type of girl that wouldn’t take sh— from anyone and would hand you your ass if you crossed her.
Fern looks adorable. I love the sun-kissed skin and freckles! This girl is currently a WIP. I have got to finish trimming and styling her wig and work on accessorizing her, but I'm happy with the start of her! 1744215019280 by Lisel Rodriguez, on Flickr
Thanks and same here @Kirahfaye, hated my freckles when I was a kid but grew to love them as I got older though. @Pen-Pen yup, I see her that way too @LiselT thanks and your girl is looking amazing so far, that grey resin seems such a nice shade and the colours you’ve picked compliment it very well. Did you make the wig and outfit? They’re gorgeous.
@Blodeuwedd I sadly have zero skill in the art of sewing The dress is from the Phoeb fullset, but I did not use the underskirt or the wrist cuffs. The wig I did make, just need to get my tush around to finishing it! I have an elf Phoeb named Cerridwen and this gray elf Phoeb is her twin, Kerridwen. I can't wait to finish her up more and get some pictures of them together!
@LiselT really? It looks different to the promo pictures, I have a white Phoeb myself but didn’t get the fullset. Kerridwen looks good in grey. It will be so nice to see your two together. I also have sewing skills so low you’d have to dig for them, keep meaning to learn, same with wig making but just never pluck up the courage.
@Blodeuwedd Yep! It's kind of crazy how much different lighting and different skin tones can make the same thing look so different! I have been making wigs for about 3 years now, I think? I actually really enjoy the process! I learned how to go all the way from processing raw fiber to ready fiber (it isnt difficult, just time consuming, lol), dyeing to get the colors I want, and then to making the wigs. I'm still working on the cut and style part Here are the twins side by side (yay collages). Seeing them this way, even I am surprised at the difference! 1744280813628 by Lisel Rodriguez, on Flickr
Thank you! I really love how that wig came out. It gives Cerridwen exactly the sort of sweet, kind, serene vibe I was going for. I am eyeing Kerridwen's and thinking I may very well try again, I'm not sure I am happy with it on her specifically. ...also I may or may not have just purchased a third Phoeb elf head. They may become triplets... Oops.
It does make a huge difference, even seeing them side by side, in a manner of speaking, the outfit still doesn’t look like it’s the same one. Loving that purple wig! She’s a very deceptive sculpt is Phoeb, the blank’s features are much more delicate than the promo pictures make it look. I expected the eyelids to be more prominent but nope, had to rethink my original plans for her faceup and I think I’m going to just start again.
For those of you that have the dreaming vampire elf chloe head, what size eyes are you using? If you have pictures that would be great!
@JinCIncy I have mine in 14mm/6mm iris from Secret Art Studio. She was in 14mm with larger irises before and it didn’t look right to me at all. (Not a glamorous photo of her but you can really see the eyes here.) @LiselT Your Phoebs are gorgeous! I love how different each custom Phoeb looks.
I am with @Amet, I'm still waiting for the body for mine to ship, but when I was trying to decide I also preferred the 14mm/6mm combo. I have some from Ashuradark coming soon, her urethane eyes are so dang pretty and addictive to collect! @Amet Thank you! Now I have to see what their triplet sister is going to be like! Gothic for sure, her faceup is smoky eyes and black lips. Can't wait to get her in hand!
May I please request some Phoeb elf spam from you lovely people? I am expecting my lovely goth girl today. I would love to see how everyone styled theirs, especially if you have a short wig on her! Thanks so much!
She’s beautiful @Amet Not long discovered Secret Art Studio’s eyes myself, got a few pairs and they’re really lovely! Hoping to use one of the pairs in my Phoeb when I finish her faceup over the next few days weather permitting, will post photo @LiselT when I do. Decided not to start again and persevered with it….bit more colourful than my usual style. I like the sound of your third one being more gothy!
It seems to be Phoeb week! I sent my girl out for a faceup and she's due back tomorrow. I love the pictures the artist sent and I really look forward to having her home!
@LiselT I took a phone photo of my Phoeb elf that I'm currently working on with the Secret Art Studio eyes (or should I say eye) I got for her. Still a work in progress but almost finished I think. phoeb wip by Ali MacTavish-Riach, on Flickr
@Blodeuwedd Oh she is super unique! I love her! My girl came in safely, I just didn't have time to put her together. I will try to when I get home from work today. I am plotting wig ideas to make for her.
I do. This is my first time getting a custom faceup and AngleToast did an amazing job. She should be here today or tomorrow, and her body is ready. Minifee Phoeb by Sam S, on Flickr
@Klaw that faceup is so pretty, lovely and soft but that’s what Angel Toast excels at. I think we’re now all just as excited to see your Phoeb all complete as you are! Thanks to you, @LiselT, @EmanonUK and @Kirahfaye as well , you’ve all helped me feel a bit less unsure about that faceup. Don’t usually use so much in the way of bold colour so it’s out of my comfort zone. Nice LiseIT, be great to see what you do, maybe you could kind of use the Celtic triple goddess aspect as inspiration if you weren’t already doing that.
@Blodeuwedd I love seeing the more unique, artsy faceups and how people style with them! I can totally see so many ideas for your girl. Knowing me, I'd be thinking something fantasy, like a mage or seer. Also, eeeeee! My order with my Kyma and the ebony body for my vampire elf Chloe just shipped! I am so excited! I ordered my Kyma with the human fullset but blank, I have a particular faceup I have in mind. I hope to send both her and a few others out for faceup in the summer. I also put together my gothy Phoeb. She apparently doesn't care to be a triplet at present and is going for a more modern look. I didn't like any of my wigs on her though, so hopefully I will have time to make something I have in mind for her this weekend so I can show her.
I finished repainting my Phoeb VE so I can belatedly add to Phoeb spam! (Top is VE and bottom is her OE human head. They feel like they have very different vibes to me.) Does anybody have an Icarus they can share pics of? I’m waiting on mine to make his way to me and user pics of him in the wild seem to be rare.
I have an Icarus, but like not one good pic of him yet, partly as still hunt for a wig that looks good on him.
A quick and dirty proof of concept for three wigs I am working on! Two dreaming vampire elf Phoebs and one Celine. Can't wait until the weekend so I can work on refining them. 20250423_175241 by Lisel Rodriguez, on Flickr
This is one of the COOLEST faceups I’ve ever seen! I got an email that my mint dragon legs have shipped from DDE! I’m so stoked to finally have my Erda dragon complete soon! I really thought they wouldn’t ship until June!
Wao this face looks so amazing and unique. I love looking at everyone’s custom doll face but this is so different, in a good way.
Your dolls are gorgeous, especially the one in the purple wig. Do you have more pictures of her she’s just so pretty.
@Leo Pheonix Thank you! I am awful about getting photos of my dolls, I really should get a group shot of all my minifee. @GoldfishMage Thank you very much! I only just got her back from the faceup artist a week or two ago, so I don't have photos of her yet, but when I do I will definitely show them! I snapped this one so I could actually see how the wigs looked on the intended girls and see what I need to tweak to finish trimming and styling them. Looks like I have a few things to do with hers, hopefully I will be able to do that this weekend.
Just wondering, but are the moe bodies typically strung tightly? I have one that came with a bad neck connector. The DDE sent a replacement and I'm just getting around to try to change it and well, she's in pieces right now. I did not plan to restring her, but she is too tightly strung for my weak hands. She's safely back in her box until my hands are have a good day or I get some help. Thankfully the body is for a blank floating head.
I also struggle with restringing dolls these days. I think they string them tightly because the elastic tends to stretch out and lose elasticity over time. If there's any extra string past the knots, you could retie the strings to be a longer loop. If there's no extra string, Denver Doll offers string packs. They also have stringing tools, I have one and it is very helpful.
I have been thinking it's time for a couple of my minifee to be restrung lately too. They are not holding poses as well as they used to, but I guess 5-6 years isn't bad for needing their first restring? I'm a little nervous though, I've only ever restring SDs, this will be the first time for these ones. Also, it is a good day! My Kyma fullset in pure white (no faceup, I have to wait until summer most likely to send her out for it), and the ebony body for my vampire elf Chloe head are here! The ebony resin is just gorgeous. It has this sort of warm purple-y undertones in person. My phone does not pick it up at all, unfortunately. The new pure white is paper white. I laid my Kyma next to one of my cream white girls and it definitely makes the old white look like more of an antique ivory tone. 20250425_132528 by Lisel Rodriguez, on Flickr
I love seeing everyone's different Phoebs. They are all so gorgeous! And I wanted to share my beautiful Ciel. IMG_7106 by keliyara, on Flickr
