Fairyland MiniFee MNF discussion part 67

Oct 15, 2021

    1. Oh wow, fantasy resin colors! This is not good news for my wallet lol. I was planning on getting a Lami soon but I may have to put her off for awhile!

I could be reading it wrong, but I understood the notice to say that they are re-releasing MNF DES (along with Klaus and Erda) and she will be available in both regular skin and the special skins. Additionally, as an event head they are rereleasing Soo Dark Elf A in the special skins.

This caught my eye too because DES is one of my favorites and would be super tempting in blue! Actually, I am hoping for green the next time they do fantasy colors, too. ;)

    2. @brightberry - I love your crew, they look amazing!

@xxxsaturnxxx - Your boy is gorgeous! I wish Klaus would return to the main line up.

@AnnC - Your Risse is beautiful. I think she is definitely an underrated sculpt.

@Dolly - I am hoping that I just read it wrong! I would rather have a green DES than a blue DES, but without know if/when she'll be released again and in what skintones, I would maybe have to have her in tan. :D

    3. She is gorgeous!! I love the props; it's so casual and cute.

    4. Thank you❤️. I was never a fan of Risse until I had her in hand. Now, she is my fave!

    5. omg, that little barefoot wine prop is too cute

    6. Thank you. I made a white wine was as well. My dolls like to drink

    7. Omg fantasy colors is unfortunately right up my alley… I had been looking at Youpla to get one but now I think I’ll hold off to get a blue girl. Deciding which sculpt is going to be the hardest choice…

I currently have Ria, Hwayu, Sircca, Alan, Sirin and Lami. What are your faves? What will you choose? :love

    8. The new colors look really great!
And El Elf is really tempting me....
I have just one doubt - if we get the event head, we cannot get just a separate body for it right? It would have to be bodyless or share with another doll and i do not like that very much.

I will have to think about it... i might not be able to resist El...

    9. Does anyone have an older dark Soo next to a lookback dark Soo? I was hoping they had the newer Dark Soo but used the classic sculpt instead. (Not a fan of the older minifee proportions)

    10. Oh dear, I am very tempted to get a tan Dark Elf Soo. :love She was not in my dolly plans, but they are offering faceups for the regular resin colors (sad that they aren't for the fantasy colors, but I understand why).

The blue resin is also calling my name, I could have a little fairy water sprite. I can't decide. :...( Does anybody know if MSC works okay for fantasy-colored resin? I would have to do her faceup myself.

    11. @Nabbs where as I do not do face ups (though want to try my hand at it), I have a friend that does, and treats grey and colored resin like tan resins. Short answer yes MSC does work, but it can look cloudy on tans and colored resin. There is a sealant that Volks sells (and I sadly forget the name of) that is meant for tan resins and works better to clearly seal tan and colored resin my friend swears by that stuff. I know there is another brand of sealant that is also good on tans/darker resins, but my scatter brain can't think of it's name either. If I were you I'd do a forum search for sealants and colored resins to see if any other threads pop up with better answers.

    12. Thank you for this info!! I still have a tan Lookback Shiwoo I need to paint so I need to get some more sealant anyway.

    13. Vallejo Premium matte varnish (comes in a spray can) also works on tan resin and presumably on colorful variants.

    14. You can order a minifee body separately!

    15. I love those fantasy colors, but really wanted a blue Iset so I'm safe. Phew!!

Also I've had great results with the Army Painter matte varnish. It's a bit more of a satin finish, but it's not overly shiny and there's no clouding.

    16. I can order the fantasy color body separately? That's good news. I thought it was just the full a la carte dolls.
I'll have to take a closer look. Thank you!

    17. I don't know about the fantasy colors. I do know that you can order minifee bodies separately. You might have to investigate on the website.

      • x 1
    18. From what I can tell, you can only order the full a la carte dolls in the fantasy colors. Hands and feet can be ordered separate though.

    19. I might be needing a gray Hwayu, my poor wallet. :(

Does anyone know if fairyline bodies can fit either aline or moe heel feet? It might influence which body I get for her lol.

    20. I might be wrong on this as I do not have a Fairyline body, but I think the body is pretty much identical to aline except that the torso can be separated, so with this in mind, I would think it can fit aline heel feet

    21. I love the blue color.

    22. Fairyline fits A line heel feet. I have both :3nodding: And they fit all the hands.

    23. I may have just ordered a tan Dark Elf Soo.

    24. :cheer Hi everyone!!! It's been 84 years since I last hung out with you all but I finally windfell into a little girl Luka and I'M STOKED!! I've been missing marketplace listings and open orders for years! She'll be headed my way soon, and just wanted to say hey and YAY! Hope you've all been thriving!

    25. Very exciting, congrats on your new girl! And welcome back! I also took a very long hiatus before returning to the hobby. I'm excited to have a creative outlet again.

    26. I have an Iset on her way to me from Denver Doll. Not sure how I feel about her default faceup. Anybody here have a Iset with a custom faceup that they can share a pic of?

    27. I'm so disappointed you can't order the gray/blue dolls with a face up..................or at least from what I can tell, you aren't able to. I would love to have a gray or blue doll, but having to find someone to do a face up on them isn't an easy task these days.

    28. Does anyone know if Active line Minifee feet can be used on a Moe girl? I really like the height for my blue girl I'm going to order, but I know Moe feet are hard to shop for....

EDIT: I also just saw that the heeled m-line feet are the exact same size as a-line. Is this true??

    29. That's primarily what made me decide to get a tan Dark Elf Soo instead of a blue one. I'm okay at faceups, but not very confident with painting fantasy resin. I would LOVE if they would offer faceups for fantasy resin in the future.

    30. Those fantasy colors sure are appealing!!
Have you looked at the Marketplace “customizing” page @JinCIncy ?
There are quite a number of listings offering painting!

    31. I admit I'm not a patient person and this wait for the ability to even apply to see the market place are driving me insane.

    32. I don’t need an El Elf, I don’t need an El Elf, I don’t need an El Elf…

As someone who recently got access, my advice is to stay active and post often (without spamming). I got soft-rejected the first time I applied because I only posted a dozen or so times in a month and they wanted to see more activity, then for me to try again in a few weeks. I see you’ve got some conversations going, so I’m sure you’ll get there in no time! :3nodding:

    33. Awww thank you darlin and every time i have a question I come to the forums. I also tend to try to keep up with posts because I want to see the awesomeness that others have created with their dolls.

    34. @Lady Gemini - I'm also hoping that DDE will have some extra in stock (maybe when I've had a chance to replenish my dolly funds). Not that I need another doll, but I LOVE elf ears. And El. :XD: I'm still shocked that popular sculpts like El and Shiwoo were taken off the roster.

    35. I finally took some photos of my new boy and my Marcia! I'm gonna upload the rest to the gallery here in a minute, but I figured y'all would like a sneak peek. He has his proper green eyes in and they look lovely.

    36. I’m really tempted by the new fantasy colors! It’s been a few years since I’ve sent any of my dolls away for custom faceups, but I would always get openings with AngelToast no problem. Has much changed in the last 3 years with artists availability? I’m curious about AngelToast but also Komorebi, I’d really like to have a doll done by her!

    37. If you want to have your doll painted by AngelToast, I suggest getting their newsletter so you know when the commissions are open. I have had no trouble getting a spot as long as I contact them soon after the commissions open. They have been having some trouble with their new website recently though, so right now I would contact them through their email listed on their Instagram site.

    38. quick question is it normal for a minifee's head to be kicky.

    39. It's depend. Some sculpt tend to be kicky but some are not. My boy have a mild personality and willing to hold most of the post I asked him, but when I have a chance to handle a friend's girl minifee her head kick a lot :sweat

    40. My 2 aren't kicky, one is quite old and one is new within the past year. I'm not sure if it's more to do with the specific sculpt. I think usually it's to do with the tension of the stringing, but mnf use a resin "key" system.

    41. I'm still trying to decide on a sculpt for my fantasy blue girls... I think it's between Chloe and Mirwen. Can anyone share some pics of these girls and what you like about them? :chibi

    42. @brinney This is Mirwen, face-up by FairyLand. I really like her eye shape and the molding around her eyes. She has a really intense look to her. She is my adventurer doll - always wearing hiking boots and ready to go outside.

This is Chloe, face-up by AngelToast. Chloe is by far my most favorite sculpt. I have her in 3 different sizes. I really like her sweet face. She looks like someone I'd like to befriend. I always think of her as kind and thoughtful.

    43. That is a lovely Fairyland facepaint @Dollquest ! the AngelToast Chloe is gorgeous -
      her work is always amazing!

I, too, love the Chloe sculpt in any facepaint she has! Here are two of my Chloe -
one with Fairyland paint, the tan with Vitta Vera’s incredible work.
Chantal, on left, has stolen the wig that Colette, on right, used to wear.
Colette has a new fairy-like alpaca wig and is waiting for me to make her something
new to wear with the fun wig.

Chantal in Teeswater wig (left) — Colette in alpaca wig (right)
both wearing the wonderful Raouken corsets and heirloom petticoats that I made.

    44. @Robyn_in_WA Love your Chloes and how you styled them. Raouken's corsets are just beyond beautiful. I'm really sad she doesn't make them anymore. I own two myself, but would have loved to buy more for my Minifees.

    45. Mirwen has a unique almost grumpy look that I adore! But Chloe is sweet and innocent looking. Thank you for sharing! :love

    46. It seems people collect Chloe sculpts like chips! XD I’m in love with your tan girl, she is gorgeous.

    47. Where do you all like to buy your wigs from? Most of the threads about wigs from the database are quite old, so I'm not sure about recent quality of wigs from most companies. Apparently Monique wigs have stopped being made such is so sad. :pout:

    48. I don't have a Mirwen but I do think she is lovely. I don't think you can go wrong with either...I have two Chloes and a Ria.

Yes, it's very sad that Monique no longer produce wigs. I have Monique and a short Dollmore one that Ria has chosen now.

    49. @brinney Thanks so much! Yes, Angel Toast does a wonderful job!

@Nabbs I buy wigs from DDE. LeekeWorld wigs and (JinSun wigs for smaller dolls).
I love natural fiber wigs though and have a couple alpaca wigs from BelechixDollWorld on Etsy. I also have a couple from ZazouCustomDolls.

      • x 1
    50. @LyanneNZ - I will add Dollmore of my places to look around.

@Dollquest - I went ahead and ordered a Leekeworld wig from DDE, and I'm pretty excited. It's a size 6/7 for my mnf Marcia which I think will fit better, as most 7/8 wigs are either a little loose or VERY loose. I think I have also found ZazouCustomDolls when searching on Etsy! They look beautiful and very well made.

Also for anybody interested, the lookback heads (Shiwoo at least) are quite a bit smaller than the original heads. Every 7/8 wig I have tried on him is absolutely too big.

      • x 1
    51. I’ve noticed that a lot of the newer sculpts are 6/7 not 7/8 and this includes the look back ones.

      • x 1
    52. 7/8’s will fit better over top of a silicone wig cap, but I’ve found that this isn’t ideal long-term because my long-haired doll looks swallowed by hair and my short-haired one looks like Coconut Head. *_* (They’re also LB Shiwoos.) Silicon caps also stretch out over time and get more ill-fitting. I’m planning to switch to 6/7’s and use Velcro strips or something.

    53. @LyanneNZ Your Ria looks very glamorous!!

      • x 1
    54. Yeah my Mirwens are both 6/7 heads, in 6-7 Monique wigs.

    55. @Lady Gemini - You're definitely right; I have a beautiful wine-colored 7/8 Leekeworld wig that only fits Felicity with a silicone headcap. It doesn't slip off, but it doesn't look quite right. But then I also have a brown wig from Etsy that was like $12 - it's size 7/8 and is actually a bit small. That makes me nervous about trying other companies outside of Leekeworld since I'm not sure how their sizing fits minifees.

      • x 1
    56. Oh, I should have also mentioned I have them in Leeke wigs as well! I have numerous other 7/8 wigs from there and they all fit my Spring 2017 Minifee and egg-headed non-FL MSDs perfectly. I got a Leeke 6/7 wig in a clothing lot that was a bit snug the first time I tried it, but I’ll have to try it without the cap.

    57. Here are some photos of the wine Leekeworld wig in 7/8. It is thick and nice quality, but the color just wasn't right for Felicity (I tried to turn her into a redhead haha). It's also quite a bit longer than I thought. It is this one WINE but purchased from DDE.

    58. Does anybody have pics of a Pukipuki with a Minifee? Would Pukipuki work as an infant in MNF world? I already use my Pukifee as a toddler.

      • x 1
    59. I just received the most beautiful Leekeworld wig but it's size 6/7 and much too small for my big-headed girl. :...( I've sent them an email, but I believe they'll let me exchange for a bigger size if I pay shipping costs (which is fine). It's so beautiful and the perfect color, I'm so sad. It's this one in choco brown Isadora 7/8, Various Colors – Denver Doll Emporium

    60. I've seen some on insta of Pukipukis with Minifee in group pics. Too me they look more like baby dolls than babies just cuz of the body shape is more toddler than infant. But that's just my opinion! They are baby sized to Minifee though.
