Fairyland MiniFee MNF discussion part 56

Nov 24, 2015

    1. @kita8 Thanks so much for the comparison! @aduslle I'm surprised they're so different, does anyone else know more about it than I do?

    2. I too am hoping they will have some event online as I definitely won't be at I Doll. Although, there are many amazing booths that will be there that I'd love to see in person! Fingers crossed there will be a minifee...not that I really need one, but I've been eyeing the NS moe line glamour bust body. I don't have one yet, but a little piece of me says I need one ;) An event head would be an added bonus :)

    3. Pretty sure that's the Feeple60 head. They would have mentioned or tagged it if it were Minifee. ;)

    4. Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's theF60 head also. I'd be interested to see how it's compatable with other bodies.

    5. Good news!
The faceup artist I sent Lilith to has successfully modded her head so that it fits on her neck now! :D

Once her faceup is done, she'll be on her way back and as long as the mail isn't slow, she should be home for Christmas. I'm so happy!

    6. In the process of moving so I can't take anything better than a iPad pic, but I want to pop in to say hello with my MNF Shushu. Her name is Nemo and she's waiting on her Leekeworld wig so excuse her look, lol.

    7. Is this the 2014 Juri/Soony?

    8. @Kirahfaye Yes, she is! The opening at the bottom of her head was too narrow for the neck mechanism to fit in right, and since I don't have a dremel I found a faceup artist who was willing to try the mod for me. Vitta Vera is doing the work on her for me. :)

    9. Eee, I just got the finished photos of my Siean's face up from Angeltoast, which means she'll be heading back to me soon! I can't wait! Between her facial tattoos and her body's nicely blushed ones she's going to freeze this winter as I'll be damned if I'm covering her art up. :D

      • x 2
    10. @Chooper303 that's so great VittaVera fixed the fit problem for you! She looks so pretty, with her head on right.

@Redrosette congrats! I'm waiting for a doll from AngelToast, too.

I'm very excited! I just did a trade on the marketplace and will be getting a lovely Rheia soon! :dance

Question--what eye size for Rheia? I usually use glass, but I have some acrylics around, too, in both 12mm and 14mm. I don't want gaps, and she seems to have large eyes.

    11. When I had a Rheia both 12 and 14s fit, with 12s looking better due to more white.
Here's an old, bad photo of her in Dollmore acrylic 12mm:

    12. Linked for dolly nudity. In this photo my Rheia is wearing 12mm Makos. In this photo my Rheia is wearing 14mm Makos. I think she can pull off either, and I didn't notice any gapping with either.

    13. @kita8 can I ask who lives in the terrarium behind your girls in the photos?

@albeli I can't wait to see yours too! Who did you send to get toasted?

    14. @thakyuki and @kita8 thanks for the eye size info. I should have something around that she can use until I decide on her look.

@Redrosette I'm waiting on a LTF Bonnie. I can't wait to see how she looks. There were several things I didn't like about her default faceup and I love AngelToast's style.

    15. His name is Sir Reginald Von Slithers (aka Reggie). He's a California Red Sided garter snake. There's a pic here on my Flickr from a few weeks ago.

    18. That's so cool! :) I love the distressed, multiple layers of paint effect.

      @Tinsley she's gorgeous! I love her whole look! :)

    19. she came out gorgeous!

    20. @auntbear did you do the table and desk?? they look wonderful! are they going to be in a diorama?
@Tinsley your Amondi is truly beautiful! :)

    21. I've only done three face ups before and I've been working on my girls, Jemma and Ambellina..
They have been SO difficult.. I suppose I'm trying too hard to make them perfect rather than letting the artist in me go.. I've wiped my progress several times so far..
I finally got their lower lashes to a point that I'm okay with them, but their eyebrows are again proving to be a pain. :sigh They're getting wiped again..
Other than the eyebrows, I'm okay with how they look so far. (hurray!)

    22. Ooo, I'm sure she'll be gorgeous! I can't wait to see her and possibly be won over by yet another sculpt due to a fantastic face up. ;)

Sir Reginald is an absolutely lovely snake. I love the blue! He makes me miss my dear departed black rat snake Ebony.

    23. Seeing so many people showing off their girls with new faceups, I guess I could post a pic of Paprika's new face too! :)[IMG]

    24. perfectionism is something i struggle with on my faceups too. but i've finally got to the point where i'm willing to settle for "good enough". probably because i know that i redo mine on a rotating basis, and the oldest ones will get upgraded as my skills improve.
      that's a cool faceup

    25. @Shiyaria I think the eyebrows look good, actually. Very nice arched shapes. Eyebrows are really hard.

      @kia20 she looks great!

    26. Those look great. Love the little lamp too.

She's beautiful. You must be thrilled. I love the colour of her top too. I am really drawn to the happy feel of vibrant colours.

I wouldn't wipe those eyebrows! I think they look good.

That's a really unique faceup. Does the symbol have a special meaning?

That's a great idea. I've only ever tried doing a faceup on one of my dolls, using borrowed supplies, and struggled so much with the process that I decided to leave that aspect of the hobby to the experts. I'll stick with clothing them. That takes up enough of my time as it is!

I'm looking forward to being able to sit down and knit a bunch of wardrobe additions for Elfonda, Flame, and an incoming new girl some time after the pre-Christmas rush. I stocked up on the dazzlingly bright colours that I love.

    27. @albeli, I can't post more than one photo at a time, but if you look in my Flickr stream, my Rheia is wearing 14mm Mako eyes.

My Chloe has come back from AngelToast and I am smitten! Sorry that it is just a mobile phone photo but I'm still struggling to find decent backgrounds.

    28. @smudge your Rheia is one of the ones I was fawning over during my googling and Flickr searching last night! She's so pretty! As is Chloe. I love her faceup.
And that doll owner bingo is hilarious!

    29. Thank you so much! I had fun with the bingo - although I did make a couple of mistakes!

    30. The one that really made me laugh was "all dolls have underwear"--of course they do!!!

    31. Face ups are tough! Hang in there! You can do it! Already these faces are looking great even if you want to start over - I see the potential for something great! :)

I seem to have the worst luck when I do face ups. When I did my Minifee Mika's face I had a gash in my palm. Just the memory of it makes me cringe..and I really want to redo his faceup. He is the one on the right in the below picture.

Wow! What an awesome character! I love the colors and the freckles! The faceup with these eyes is way cool!

      She is stunning! Congrats!

    32. @smudge Your Chloe is gorgeous! I think she's the most contented looking Chloe I've ever seen. Don't knock your phone pic--it seems to do a better job on close-ups than my DSLR. (I'm too cheap to buy a new camera. I'd rather get a new doll instead.)

    33. @smudge Eep, your girl is gorgeous!! I love AT so much!!

I'm hoping to send Riyan to AngelToast in the new year, once my newest planned boy is ordered and home~ They can ride together and visit Auntie Andrea together, hehehehe! However, I'm debating on Riyan keeping his face tattoo at all! As much as I love it, it's not really a part of his character like his brother's (Journey) is. Though, I may go with a crescent moon (like his chest tattoo) instead of wings... We'll see!

    34. Hey everyone. I'm pretty new to the forums, and I had a quick questions. I have a Soony Elf MNF, and I recently ordered Mirwen MNF. I was told that Mirwen wears 6-7 in wigs, and the wiki here says that too. I ordered her a wig, and it came today, and looks amazing! However, I tried to test fit it on Thea (the Soony Elf) and it didn't fit, which is worrisome. I have read that Mirwen runs small, but am not sure how she will compare to the Soony. Mirwen should be here in about a month, but I want to make sure she has a wig that fits! Is a 6-7 going to work? Or should I see about getting a 7-8 as well just in case? Thanks in advance!

    35. By the way, I meant to catch you on another thread, but Catalina's outfit is awesome. If you don't mind my asking, where did you find the top? Or did you make it?

    36. I can't say for sure, as I don't have either sculpt but I'm pretty sure Soony has either the biggest, or one of the biggest head sizes of minifees, while mirwen's head is on the smaller size, so you don't have to lose hope just yet! (Side note but I love your Soony! Don't know if I commented on her earlier but shes so pretty!)
Can you sew, at all? If you can and the wig does turn out to be too small, it's pretty easy to make wig's a little bit bigger without affecting their overall look.

    37. I'm finally done! Ambellina and Jemma's face ups are finished! :celebrate I am so thankful for everyone who gave me advice and tips.
Now my next project is making them clothes!

    38. Thank you!! I made her top :) her shorts are from InEssenceCreations on Etsy~

    39. Thank you! I'm really happy with her. I got her from my fiance, and she is really happy to see Thea getting some attention. :) She just didn't have inspiration with her, but I really like her.

I will hold off for now then. That is the general impression I was finding reading some of the older threads, but I figured I'd ask for myself as well. I don't sew, but my fiance does, so I can ask her if she can help me with that. Thanks for the tips!

      Love it! Looks great. :3

(I'm rubbish at sewing, most of my creative side is music and character design. I used to draw a lot, but once you take on the role of a collegiate musician, you lose a lot of time.)

    40. Out of curiosity. Who here prefers the a line and who prefers the m line body?

I recently got my first m line female body, and while I love the hip bones and the lower back dimples, I find her ankles really chunky and her bum a little flat. I love the more mature, hourglass look of the a line, but that waist/ hip joint seems unnecessary and no hip bone protrusion like the m line.

Of course, I have since Frankenstein-ed my girl's (my a line got the giant balloon m line bust and m line might be getting my other a line's legs ((she's getting hooves, so no need for lower legs) Whew! Lots of head swapping, restringing, and re-restringing lol And I still don't know which one I love best. A line, m line, or hybrid??

As far as boy bodies go, I love the a line muscular. My only boy has this body, and plan on my next boy to have a semi-sanded down muscular a line as well (those abs can be a bit much for his elven character)

Tell me your preference and why!

    41. I'm pretty new, and haven't had an A-line, but my girlfriend did for a while, and ended up selling her to get the M-Line Soony that I then bought from her. (She fell in love with the pukifee line.) She mentioned to me that Thea, the Soony, doesn't like to sit straight, and I have discovered that. However, I really do prefer the M-Line for the seamless lower body and, as you mentioned, the sculpted waist and hip bones. I wish she was a little taller, as A-line clothes work but are a little long, but otherwise, I like her a lot. I have a second M-Line on the way, as well. I also like how stable Thea is while doing "free standing" poses. I remember her old A-Line had trouble standing on her own. For me, it came down to the aesthetic of the seamless body.

    42. @Shiyaria They look great!

@xenagirl83 It's hard to choose. I currently have 3 full MNFs in the house, 2 m line with glamour busts (they're non-identical twins that look a lot alike and I prefer having the same body for these two--but I probably won't do this exact body again for another doll), and an a line with small bust and cutie legs. I have a Mirwen head and a Rheia head coming that need their own bodies, so will need to buy at least one more body soon (to share), and I'm leaning towards an a line with large bust just to have some variety, BUT I love the m lines so much, I may get an m line with full bust and an a line with a large or a cutie bust and do some bust and/or leg switching. As for why I prefer the m line--it's easier to pose, I like the m line legs better than either a line leg option, I like the entire abdomen and hip sculpt better because it's so much prettier than the a line abdomen IMO, and I'm petite, so I like that there's a petite body. However, I don't want all my dolls to have the same body, so like I said, I need to plan out what bodies my heads need and maybe do some hybridization. :)

    43. For me, the m-line is so much cuter ! All my girls are/will be on moe bodies (5/6 of my MNF girls have them, one more to find !) since the a-line was just too skinny and lanky to me. The m-line is better propotioned and realistic in my opinion :) Although the feet are ridiculously adorable, finding much smaller shoes seems to be the only drawback and is proving to be expensive and difficult :(

It's great to have a choice from Fairyland whether you would like a taller/more mature body or a shorter/cuter body though !

    44. I agree I love mline's lower torso, adorable feet and I really love how short the mline is, too. However, I have to admit, I like having aline because, it's great having characters of different height/build, makes it more realistic ;)
But mline is definitely my favorite!

      • x 2
    45. The M-line is my favourite because I like how short and curvy they are, the shape of the hips and seamless torso.

    46. The main reason why I rehomed my Liria is because I didn't care for the Moe body. I have friends who love the M-line so I thought I would try it out, but within just a few days I decided I didn't care for it. I don't like the bulky ankles and I don't care for it's lack of posing ability.

    47. I currently have 11 MiniFees. One is M-line the rest are A-line. I have one A-line with the smalles bust and the rest have either B or C size. Some have cutie legs and some have model legs. 3 are tan, one is WS and the rest is NS. I have 2 with default face-ups and the rest have face-ups from a lot of different artists. What I like is for them to be different from each other.

      Dustbunnie

    48. Aesthetically, I prefer the m line. I liked that it was shorter, and I've always thought the little feet were adorable. I'm glad that the m-line bodies aren't super thin; for the sake of structure and for the aesthetic. It's nice to have some variation of body size (though in reality it's not that different, and having bodies that were more like larger people would be nice). I only have the one mnf and she's moe, so I can't speak to the posing of a-lines.

I'm finding myself frustrated with the lack of a third torso piece, though. My girl doesn't like to sit up straight, will not lean forward, and usually ends up tipping backwards. I feel like this wouldn't be a problem if she had the a-line torso versus the m-line.

I also kind of hate that you can't choose between all of the bust options with the two lines, particularly since people have successfully swapped busts. My Liria's a fullset, so I can't really swap someone for the bust piece without her fullset clothes no longer fitting properly, but I'd love to have the option of buying another bust piece. I don't like how the full bust is sculpted, and it's making sewing for her difficult since it's just so freaking big.

    49. I think both A as M line look beautiful. However I cannot compare, as I don't own an M-Line body (and never saw one it IRL).

Last week I got my first minifee <3 I'm just way too excited, she is so beautiful. She doesn't have a name yet, as she didn't tell me hers yet... Well we gotta be patient :)

    50. Wow she's absolutely stunning!!! Congrats on having such a beautiful doll! โ™ฅ

    51. @DirtyPinkTales she's beautiful! She makes me think of a selkie with those eyes and hair color. I imagine her standing on an Irish coastline staring out to sea (kind of a dream character of mine - LOL).

    52. I have 6 MNF girls - 5 A-lines and a B-line. I only have the B-line because the doll is a limited MNF Tanning Lishe and they don't come in anything but B-line.

I purposely do not have an M-line, although one of my A-lines has the largest M-line bust. I don't like the look of the M-line, I can't understand the lack of hip joint, and having Delf Type 1s (which also don't have a hip joint, although their torso joint compensates a bit) means that I know how that lack of joint will work, with some lack of mobility and sitting ability as you need both joints - B-lines only have a hip joint and they just fall over backwards when attempting to make them sit.

I also dislike the small feet as they look out of proportion and I'm much more of a fan of the sleek look of the A-lines. I don't care about height differences and I doubt I would ever purchase an M-line if there was a choice between that and the A-line. (For example, I wouldn't purchase an M-line in the F60 size, even if they released a Lishe for it, which they won't.)

    53. It's amazing how each faceup makes the dolls looks so different from one another. This Chloe is absolutely gorgeous! I love her soft, yet not-so-shy look.

      • x 1
    54. Ohhh yes, that would be a perfect shot! :D I'm still waiting for mako eyes for her, hopefully they will fit. It's so fun to be finally able to post pics in this tread instead of stalking it haha :D

    55. I actually prefer the look of the A-line, but then again I've never owned (or even seen in person) an M-line. I like the shape of the A-line better, since I find the M-line to be a little too pear-shaped for my liking, which is accentuated by the lack of the lower torso joint. Also, I find that that joint doesn't add much in the way of mobility, but it does make posing look way more natural in my opinion.

    56. i have 3 a lines and one m line. i prefer the posing of the aline, but i love the mline for my ante girl since i think it fits the younger looking face and works well to make her a younger sib to the older girls. the smaller feet are a bit of a pain to find shoes for, but i like have a variety of heights/sizes since it feels more realistic to me so i've gotten used to it. the only thing i don't like about the m-line is the bust since since mine is a younger girl. i was lucky enough to get mine when fairyland was allowing any bust size so i could get the the cutie bust for meg. she just would look right with the gigantic bust the m-line usually comes with. if i was to do another i'd have to switch with an a-line chest piece. but i'll probably stick with meg as my only m-line.

    57. I prefer the a-line although I have never seen an m-line girl in person. I like the shape of the waist, hips and bust and I love the the cutie legs (even though they are difficult to stand). M-line doesn't appeal mostly because of the height and the bust (so out of proportion to my eye)
The boys are different, I have a muscular body, an m-line and an old b-line, just need the normal body and I will have a full set:lol: and I can't decide which is my favorite.

    58. @DirtyPinkTales She's beautiful!!!

As far as A line vs M line in the leg, ankle, and foot department, I think the A line feet look gigantic, and I don't think the M line ankles look too big. The A line cutie legs look nice, but dealing with them is such a pain--they coil together, they're kicky, they're just awful. And the model legs look like poles with no curves. The M line legs are perfect. As far as shoes, I've purchased 4 pair of M line flats from Summomo on etsy for very reasonable prices.

      • x 1
    59. In the A-line vs M-line debate I'm not 100% sure. I think I like them equally, when it comes to looks. I have 3 A-lines and 3 M-lines, I swapped the busts on one pair of them (big boobs on my A-line Rheia, small boobs on my M-line Rena).

The M-line may not be able to pose quite as well as the A-line in terms of sitting, but when it comes to standing poses I find them a lot more solid so it all depends what you want. I like variety in my dolls, having each one on a slightly different body makes me feel a little less like I keep buying the same dolls over and over.

Although I have to say, the ankles on the M-line don't bother me so much, but their feet kinda do. The toes look like weird little claws XD

And a few pages back someone was asking about wig sizes for Mirwen? I can confirm that 6-7" is best for her, she has a tiny head. I had a Soony (don't anymore) and her head was significantly larger. My Mirwen swims in some 7-8" wigs, they swallow her face! Leeke ones were huge, but I did try a 7-8" FMD wig that fit ok with a silicone wig cap
