Fairyland LittleFee Discussion Thread - Part 30

    1. Very pretty - as is her dress.

      Teddy

    2. Hi! has anybody received an event ltf faceplate already? (I know that some realfee Maris have arrived)
because I would like to see a comparison between FLAL and Leah :) anyone else thinks that they look alike?

    3. I agree that the current event head looks a lot like Leah. I'm also really curious to see some owner pics for this one - I never manage to jump on the events because I am terrible at making the mental leap from "this is what it looks like blank" to "this is what it could look like with a face-up." Oh well...

    4. What a cute picture....

    5. Thank you! :)

    6. Adorable - what a scamp.

      Teddy

    7. Except for her blue eyes - that could be my daughter! I've got pics of her with staples of books in her bed, fallen asleep over an open page...

    8. Love this....too cute!

    9. Auntbear - what a magical picture. Reminds me of my night-time routine when I was little. Where did you find the marvelous in-scale book?

    10. Sharing a pic of my sweet girl. She is currently the only doll I own, so she gets my undivided doll attention. :) [IMG]

    11. I have a lot of dolls but if I didn't I think I'd need at least two because I'd be worried one on its own would be lonely. Of course I'm sure Arcadia sees the benefits when she's so spoilt :)

Auntbear, I love that pic, like a real kid :)

Sharing a pic I took the other day of friends Alani and Phoebe:

    12. Sweet picture, RubyHeart! Well, bears are mostly solitary creatures, so she's happy to be the one and only, lol.

    13. Thank you! Ah, very true. I love her name change btw :)

    14. Aww, looks so cozy! ^w^

Ah, the time back when you only had one doll. Sometimes I kind of miss it, it was such an easy decicion on who to sew for x) Your girl is very cute! ~

Hehe I wonder what they talk about :3 I love their outfits!

      Lunna got a new wig
      by Akara, on Flickr

Lunnalie got a new wig in the mail today and it looks awesome on her! It's dark outside, but I couldnt help but take at least one photo of her right now! ^w^

      • x 5
    15. Lunnalie is sweet in her new wig. Oh, yes, it gets dark only too early, and even earlier in you town. Did you have frost and snow already? We follow the weather reports and webcams for the mountains and towns like Jokkmokk, Abisko...

    16. Thanks!
      Hmm naa, no snow yet but frost in the morning has happened. It's getting pretty cold though so I dont think it will be long before the snow comes D: (I dont like snow) I like when it gets dark outside but it's so bad for photos. The sun sets at 3pm and I have to take photos before like 1pm to get somewhat good lightning ;___;

    17. I wanted to share my tan Piki with you all as I don't know if I have seen many around. I ordered him on the first day of the seahorse/mermaid event and he arrived yesterday! So fast!! He is absolutely gorgeous, no flaws apart from the odd mild seam line. He is replacing my natural skin Piki who had gone a bit yellow, so he is still the same character. His name is Edward :)

    18. Oh he's wonderful princesspetal, he's a very handsome lad indeed!

    19. She's just lovely, Akara! She's a Mio, yes? I've been aching to wipe my Mio and get her a custom face up and I love yours. :)

    20. Thank you! Oh you know how friends are, sharing secrets nobody else is allowed to know ;) Lunnalie looks beautiful in her new wig!
Oh isn't he a little charmer! Hi Edward!

    21. He is stunning. Love his eyes especially (also he has my hubby's name LOL). I also like his wig, it goes really well with the Fairyland tan.

    22. Soooooo...I fail at this hobby.

I never bonded with the secondhand Littlefee full-set I bought in 2010 and it got stashed away in the deepest and darkest corner of its box awaiting a sale. It had been stashed away for over a year. So this weekend I decided to 'dig' the items up to take some better pictures and for some reason I'm now forcing myself to give the Littlefee a second chance. I was so sure I wanted to get rid of it and now this.

What do you think, yay or nay for Littlefee revival? I was planning on getting a tan tiny as a 'project doll' but perhaps I could rework the character a little to make it work for a normal skin body?

    23. Before selling try to rework the doll. Try other clothes, try taking pictures, if you have, try other wigs and/or eyes. And if you really don't bond with the doll, it's not a failure of you. It's not your fault. I wish I would live nearer to you for a meet-and-play-together. That would be so much fun.

    24. Aww he's so cute! And I love his name! n__n

Yes, she's a Mio. She used to be a Chloe but the Chloe sculpt didnt look particulary good with my other littlefee so I changed her out for a Mio instead, which worked out better for me :) Well, I think you should got for it! Custom Mios are very beautiful! ^w^

      Thanks! ~

As mentioned already you can definitely try out new clothes and wigs if you have any. Or perhaps giving her a new face-up? But dont stress it, if you dont bond then that's not the end of the world, right? ^w^

      Lunna's new wig
      by Akara, on Flickr

Here's a better picture of Lunna. Gosh, I love this wig on her! :D

    25. Siara, maybe you could show us a pic of your LTF? Which sculpt is it? I think we would be happy to show you all the possibilities for her face...

    26. I once could not bond with a Full set. The clothing didn't fit and this was a real disappontment. I had a terrible time selling the clothing and then the doll. Finally I was able to sell the extra sleeping face plate.

    27. I've bought 2 full sets, one third hand and one new. The pre-loved doll has gone through so many changes, the most recent being completely new faceups for both his bare sp and his oe. Thank goodness I love the Chiwoo in all it's forms, customized most of all.

My other... I adore his outfit, his smile, everything, he gets the most expensive wardrobe of all my kids (durned Prince), yet he can still be my least favorite. Weird. Maybe I'm afraid of him ;)

Anyway, here's the discussed parties, Alex and Jack:

    28. It's definitely not a failing! I used to have a doll (OT to this thread) that was gorgeous, limited, highly sought-after, heavily desired on the secondhand market, and I just never bonded with her and started to resent her at a certain point. Not every doll works for every person. I've got another (again OT) who didn't work with the original styling I gave her, but after switching things up now I adore her. Sometimes they fall into place perfectly, sometimes they take a little work, and sometimes they don't work out in the end, and none of that is a failing.

Since you do have her, I'll echo what the others here are saying and say, give her another shot! Best case scenario, you find the right look and you fall in love with her. Worst case, it doesn't work out and you sell her on anyway. But at least you tried first, and don't have to wonder if it wouldn't have worked out. :)

    29. Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences and giving me some tips. Before I continue here is a picture from her box opening.

She's very cute but she was an impulse buy on the bay before I really understood what BJD were and that they came in different sizes. I paid way too much (500$+) for her back in the days because the words 'limited' and 'full-set' were so shiny for a newbie. I'm not too fond of her sculpt, I dislike the pose of her hands, her elbow joints look ugly to me, the outfit is beautiful but nothing a character of mine would wear, her seam lines are unsightly and I think she's what you would call 'in need of a stringing'?

I was thinking of purchasing a different faceplate to try on the body, something with elf ears perhaps. I've been head over heels for elf ears ever since my Pukifee girl came home. If I seem to like it better that way I was thinking of trying to sand her seam lines and trying to restring her whole body. She is a horrible poser and I hope that's because of the stringing, I'll try and record a little example tomorrow so you can judge for yourself.

      • x 1
    30. I understand what you mean. Do you know what I would do first (beside stringing, because that will help with the posing)? I would change her clothes. They are sweet but too fine for everyday. She needs something in which she can move around, something in which she can develop a personality. Then change wig and eyes. At last I would buy other hands so you get more possibilities with gestures.

    31. personally i would try restringing her first to see if you can get her to pose better. if that works then you can easily get new sets of hands in positions you like better. (i have the whole range of hands so that my kids can change depending on what they are doing, it really helps with expressiveness.) i would also try to sell or swap the faceplate for a sculpt you like better and you can always sell the le clothes separately to someone who wants them, then get clothes that fit your doll/your personality better. sleling and replacing only what you need will keep the shipping costs down and would probably be easier/cheaper than selling the whole thing and buying a whole new doll.

sorry for the late reply, it's been a crazy couple of weeks and i haven't been on line much. that particular one was from a wonderful seller called lauras little loot.
i have several books from her, but unfortunately she isn't taking orders right now :( i'm hoping she isn't closed forever as i'd love to order more from her! there are a couple of other places i know that sell books in 1/6th scale. they are a bit pricier though. one is this shop on etsy the other is leeann's books. both do really good quality work
i didn't realize you were down to just one doll? she is a great one though.

he is a cutie. he looks adorable in tan

    32. She's adorable, Siara. But I know what you mean about not bonding with her. Sometimes it's the full set. The doll comes to you "complete" but it's someone else's idea of complete, so sometimes it's hard to relate. I have one like that. My Ante elf is beauty white, which I don't even like and only bought because she was in stock at DDE. She hardly ever wears her full set. The thing is, I put her in other clothes, changed her wig and gave her new hands--and she's a whole other doll. She has also become quite loose over the years, but I've found that it gives her new posing abilities. She can sit cross-legged in my hand and suck her thumb as she tilts her head to look at me. It has given her a totally new personality.

So before you sell your doll, change her up a little and give her another chance. You might be glad you did.

    33. Alright, before I decide to give this girl another chance: could experienced Littlefee owners please check this video and let me know whether this is normal or not? I would really love it if my girl could pose properly like my Pukifee does.

I'm currently taking in all of the good advice and going through all of the items she has to decide what is staying and what will be going. I'm excited, there is progress for sure. I enjoyed playing around with her body, even though it's way too floppy to my liking. I hope it's fixable.

    34. @Siara Your YouTube video is private and requires a sign in.

    35. Thanks for the links, auntbear! I need to work on my girl's bookcase and it would be great to have some recognizable (and readable) books to mix in with my own attempts at doll-scale bookbinding.

    36. Siara I have both PukiFees and LittleFees and I think that the LittleFees are even easier to pose than the PukiFees. I do have one or two LittleFees that doesn't pose well because their strings are too loose though.

I wish I could see your YouTube.

Here's a picture of my modded Ante Elf sleeping face-plate.

    37. I apologize, still getting used to the tube. You should be able to watch the video now. Let me know if it's still not working.

@Dustbunnie That's such an innocent-looking girl, very cute for sure!

    38. Your LTF does look loose in that video - I definitely haven't seen one unable to hold an arm up like that. The seam lines look pretty typical to me though.

    39. I love this gal, she's a real beauty Dustbunnie. :aheartbea

    40. Siara she definitely needs new strings.

      Thanks Xanadu. :)

      Dustbunnie

    41. Loose is in the eyes of the beholder, I guess. She's looser than a brand new doll should be, although she does seem to be able to hold up her arms if you bend her elbows. If she were as loose as I expected from the way you spoke of her, her limbs would have flopped when you held her off the table. Instead, she stayed as straight as if she were stretched out on a board. I would have liked to see how well she can stand in various positions. Mine is loose in the legs and yet she can stand by herself without effort. Would I restring her? Not at this time, although I expect to in the future. Whether you restring or not all depends on what you expect of the doll.

      Here's Alma, my Ante elf:

    42. She does look a little loose, but she may only need her strings tightened, instead of replaced. (Though, if she's older, you'll likely need to replace the strings sooner or later anyway, so if you have them handy, you may want to go ahead and swap them out instead of tightening the existing ones.) Over time, the elastic in the strings weakens, and they'll start losing their ability to pose, but her strings definitely aren't completely shot. Trust me, I've had dolls like that, they're basically like handling rag dolls; your girl can hold at least some poses, and with a tighter stringing, she should be able to pull off the full range again. :)

    43. That's good news for sure ^__^ She's indeed not a ragdoll, it could be worse but I still don't like her arms and feet dropping like that. My other Fairyland girls don't have that problem so maybe I'll try tightening her strings first. Does anyone have a good restringing guide for Littlefee? I don't have a manual unfortunately and it would be my first time.

By the way, you're all the greatest. I never expected to get so much help from everyone.

    44. I know that @Wovenflame had a tutorial somewhere, maybe on her flickr?

    45. There's actually two links in the first post in this thread that are about restringing! :3

    46. Well I'm getting closer to having another LTF - someone has started paying for my Paprika! Soon as she hits the 1/2 way mark, I'm gonna order. I think (may change) I'm settled on a modded tan Mio! (thanks to Akara for confirming ;) )

    47. Try tightening up the legs first. It's simple enough to do and will improve her standing and sitting ability, prevent her legs from dropping like that, and surprisingly enough it even helps with some of the torso posing because it locks the hip mechanism more firmly into place. If that helps you can then look into doing something similar with the arms. They definitely should not be falling like that.

Tightening the legs of a Littlefee.

Trying a new look on my FL Ltf Ante. I got the Medieval dress on Ebay and the girdle belt from periodthreads.com.

    49. She looks very sweet :D Glad to see the outfit has a good home.

    50. cute look, i like the coordinating wings she has too

    51. Hihi, just thought I would share a modded sleeping Mio faceplate I finished today. I think she worked out ok for a first go but I hope to get better at it in future, especially the faceups. Seems like a cheaper way to go for a change in faceplates and kind of fun to do too.

I miss my girls so much. I left them at my apartment when I came down to look after my grandmother after her eye surgery.

Could I get some cheer-up spam? (My grandmother is doing FANTASTIC by the way.)

    53. Sorry to come out of nowhere, but I just ordered a PongPong (V1) and I need specific eyes for him - so I was wondering what size worked best. Plus, any PongPong spam would be awesome! (and very cheerful, for @Redfaery - I'm glad your Grandmother is doing well!)

    55. That's an absolutely gorgeous dress and girdle belt. It suits your Ante beautifully and I like how her eyes also match the dress.

She look absolutely adorable. I love the modding you on her sleeping faceplate. Do you have any close-ups of the mod and face-up?

Beautiful piece of work~! How long did it take you?

Awww...no spam from me at the moment but kudos to you for taking care of your grandmother like that. Give her our kindest regards.

Congratulations on your order~! Most Littlefee come with 14mm eyes but depending on the sculpt they can fit 12 to 16mm. It all depends on what you prefer in your doll I guess.

Hi Pumpkin~! I hope she's loving her brand new eyes.

      ---

And I bit the bullet and decided to give my Littlefee a new chance. I also kind of bought a new faceplate for the body on the marketplace. Woe is me, me and my impulse buys. I'll be sure to introduee the new face once it arrives.

Thank you everyone for the useful links, I totally forgot about the linkage on the first page of the thread as well. My apologies~ *bows* May I ask if there are people who have male Littlefee here? If so, a little bit of spammage is much appreciated.

    57. @Siara there's definitely boys around! Sadly I can only link due to mobile Flickr being stupid, but here's a casual shot of one of my two LTF groups, currently three boys and one girl, with one more of each on the way: Bottom shelf: AtC Chibis
