@overlordu Yeah, I'm not feeling a lot of love for the O-ring thing in the knees and I can see that being a huge pain in the butt when I go to string him again. I'm not sure how I'd get the existing elastic out of the shin channels and at this point I'm not feeling very optimistic about it. I don't find the arm magnets overly strong and they seem to me to come out of place with not a whole lot of effort. Because he's currently very loosely strung (I was guessing on where to knot the elastic), as I was testing wigs on him, he nearly took a tumble from my lap and I grabbed at the closest thing to catch him and that was his arm. It pulled straight out of the socket but fortunately I was quick enough with my other hand to grab him by the torso. Had some serious heart flutters for a few seconds there. I'm not demanding of my dolls regards posing at all. I require that they be able to stand unaided and sit without falling over backwards and that's about it really. I also have kips in different sizes so I could certainly pop one in the shoulder joint and potentially hot glue it in place if I think it's an issue.
@Iron_Dog Well that's interesting! I mean I definitely wouldn't pick up an F65 by his arm, but on all of mine they stay put unless I purposely take them out. But like I said, there's no disadvantage to stringing him traditionally, so you should go for it! KIPS would work great if you have some big enough that won't get sucked into the giant arm hole. And the shin elastic should be easy to get out if you take his foot off first, it's just looped around a resin hook in the foot. So pull the foot away from the ankle cap, then you should be able to slip the foot right off the elastic, and pull the elastic out the top.
@overlordu He's my first FL of this size (I have a MNF Ruth as well) and the only doll that has such... complicated stringing. As loose as he is currently he can still stand unaided (I wouldn't trust him unattended though) which is pretty impressive really. I'm eager to get him properly strung so I can start on making him an outfit I've got an idea for. I have kips in multiple sizes and some of them are very large so they'd probably work for the huge arm hole he has. I'll see how it goes to string his arms normally and if I find it's a problem I can always put the mag pieces back. To be fair, he's not the only tough stringing job on the docket. I've been delaying re-stringing my Akhmel Nathan because I literally need to use a beading needle and jewellery elastic to string him (he's 30cm but his arms and legs are incredibly thin). I need to re-string his fingers, too, as the elastic broke for both his hands and his arms (it was original so....).
Thanks, @Iron_Dog , that used to work. In the past couple months, the method changed, even on pc. When I have more time, I'll figure out a work around. Meanwhile, I'll take a picture of my 3 big CP men.
Aren’t the arms supposed to lock into place? Like, besides the magnets, if he’s positioned normally, the arms should be locked in and can’t detach and fall out. If his chest is pushed far back at the most extreme angle, then the arms will pop off for easy changing. This is with the original body, at least. Didn’t test that yet on the new body. I can say with this new body, the legs are strung normally. No O-rings in the knees as far as I can see.
@Stormlight I'm not sure? Aside from a L/R indicator on the piece that strings the arms I didn't see any locking notches/grooves/etc. on the chest piece or arm attachment. The left arm is much easier to detach than the right arm and I've firmly pushed both arms into the shoulder joint so they should be making good contact with the main mag piece in his chest. The arms aren't randomly falling off but it doesn't seem to require much effort to remove his arms (especially the left) I don't know when the body was made as he's 2nd hand, I'm at least his 3rd owner and the seller said the body didn't come with a CoA (I don't think FL issues CoA's for just bodies and more than likely didn't years ago?). If it helps at all in narrowing down the age of the body, there's completely embedded/covered magnets in his back under his shoulder blades (I assume for wing attachment?).
The new bodies have those back magnets as well, although Fairyland so far have not made any actual wings for them. The F60 bodies also have them. Pretty sure if this body is that old, then the arms should lock into the torso. If they don’t, possibly there’s an issue with the body itself, the plastic inside worn down or something? I’ll have to dig out my F65 manual and take pics to show you what I mean. There’s instructions and diagram showing how it should work. I’m at work right now though so it’ll have to be later this afternoon.
No worries. I've gotten him strung together again tighter than my first attempt. I did it without that chest mag piece and I'm much happier with the results. Being able to remove his arms wholescale isn't a function I'd ever use so it's a pointless feature to me. The shoulders seem to be pretty decent with regards to holding positions as I've strung them now but I'm also not a big stickler for extreme positions. The O-ring knee thing was a total pain to string but I did it. He stands very solidly, which is something I am a stickler for. His torso/legs elastic could maybe be a smidge tighter but my hands say nope, not doing that today but thanks for asking. Stringing large dolls is not an arthritis friendly activity. @Stormlight I'd appreciate pics of the stuff in the manual if you have time but don't rush to do it on my account. The chest piece/arm connector he has have a sort of... groove arrangement that helps to hold the two parts together (magnets aside). I'm simply not happy with how strong the connection is, which is generally my issue with mag parts. I have a Leeke Khal on the muscle body and he has gorgeously blushed hands that are mag hands. I swear if I think about looking at them sideways they pop off. It doesn't really matter for Khale as he wears DZ armour claw hands as his defaults but for the week or two that he had to wear his company hands, they were constantly dropping off at the slightest movement which was irritating and made me a bit anxious. I think my intense dislike of mag parts probably started there.
OMG I forgot about that....! Haha the other day when I was dressing one I tried to pop his arm out at one point and it wouldn't come out, so I gave up. I think I had his chest leaning forward so I bet the arms were locked in
Is anyone able to share the new f65 male and female bodies together? I would like to see how they compare proportion wise. Please and thank you
@Iron_Dog, here’s the instructions for locking his arms in place, as per the F65 manual. The arms are supposed to be locked in when the torso is straight and only come out when the upper chest piece is pulled back. So I can’t say what’s going on with your boy. F65 arm instruction by Thyme Willowbrook, on Flickr Honestly, Fairyland seriously needs to update this booklet. This is the one that came with Rozen, but the new male body does not even have this feature anymore! Or the O-hooks in the knees. He’s strung like a regular BJD. That’s kind of disappointing, NGL, although others probably won’t mind.
@Stormlight Thank you for the pics. I think maybe the arm came off so easily because he was loosely strung initially (I just wanted him together) and when he started to leap from my lap his upper chest could've been in a more back leaning position making the arms easy to pop free. I don't remember exactly as he gave me quite the fright initially with the sudden dive for the floor. Nobody wants to have their doll hit the floor within the first few hours of having them, lol, so I wasn't overly focused on parts positions.
I finally received my 2022 Feeple65 body and have paired it with my delf Nanuri07! I had to sand the inside of the head less than a millimeter to be able to turn the mechanism. Overall I’m happy with the finished product and I really love the proportions of this body. There is a slight resin mismatch but over the years I’m sure the body will mellow out.
As said in other channels on it and asked for them in both feeple sizes, may we get many new pretty skin tones.
I had no idea, this was supposed to happen. I thought something was wrong with Logan when her arm did this! (i guess I better look at the manual for f65, my experiences are with f60 and mnf)This feature could come in handy with some clothing too.
@Nikki'sNewObsession I strung Braithwyn initially with that mag chest piece and just didn't like it (and would never use the function of it) so I re-strung him without in the normal fashion you string most dolls and I'm much happier with the way his arms behave.
Thats good to know as well. Are they less "stiff", I'd like my girls to have more natural posing with their arms. I struggle with the leg lock too, for getting them to sit, but luckily their furniture supports that function as well, making it easier to get them to behave.
I didn't really play around much with the mag chest piece to give a fair comparison with/without it. I was initially doing something with him (dressing him to test fit an outfit I was making, I think) and he started to fall so I grabbed the closest part (his arm) and it just popped right off. I still caught him with my other hand around his torso but it scared the begeebus out of me when his arm just popped off like that and I thought he was going to tumble to the hard wood floor. It wasn't long after that that I re-strung him. Full disclosure: I hate mag parts in general. I knew he'd have mag hands/feet because FL (and I have a FL Ruth so I knew this was very much a thing) but I didn't know he'd have the entire arm as a mag part, too. It wouldn't have stopped me from purchasing him (because he's gorgeously awesome) but I am def not in love with that feature. This, btw, is Braithwyn, God of Wild & Forgotten Places. The outfit (top & pants) was made from silk sari fabric while the attached skirt was made from a silk tablecloth, both sourced from Value Village. He is a Soom Chrom head on the FL65 body that was dyed to give him vitiligo. Braithwyn 3 by ID Locke, on Flickr
Logan had a make-over by angel toast, thought I'd share a pic: I love her so much more this time around.
Did y'all see the new F65 girl, Nuia? Denver Doll shared her on Instagram! I looove her face and ears! She's pretty different than Fairyland's usual stuff, so it's cool they're branching out. I can't tell from the photos if this is the original F65 girl body or if they changed it.
I came here to ask the same thing! I have always admired Fairyland's dolls, and especially the F65, but I've never needed one until today. She's absolutely gorgeous and I'm currently planning on bringing her home.
I have absolutely zero space for another large doll, but... yeah. I like her look a lot. She has a very Elfquest kind of vibe. I'd be tempted to go full Leetah if I ordered one, with tan resin, green eyes, and a long, curly auburn wig.
She's so different from what FL usually does, but I love her. I'm already thinking of how I'm going to make this happen, it'll be tough on my wallet but I think I want the fullset, or most of it at least!
She reminds me a tad of Magic Mirror’s girls, and even the faintest bit of my Twigling ingenieuse. So suffice it to say, I’m a little bit in love with her already
Omg she does have strong Leetah vibes. I legit just got a MNF Lami elf boy in tan to make into Rayek too, Fairyland has been making me think of Elfquest characters with a lot of their newer elves. X3 Elfquest energy aside, my friend and I were eyeing the new girl as she has a D&D PC with a twin sister (who is an NPC) and Nuia could really work as the twins. Fates willing we might each buy one.
I have to admit that even though I like her sculpt, I wasn't really tempted until I imagined her as a boy... LOL... my weakness!!!! Girl heads as boys! I have no idea what boy body she'd look good on though. So I'm going to resist the temptation until I start seeing owner pics and then possibly be doomed.
I'm honestly obsessed already. I'd decided I want to spend the next year focusing on refining my collection and not adding much more but I know I have to add her to my collection and I want the fullset. Her dress may seem a bit on the basic side to some but I think it gives the accessories their moment. I'm absolutely smitten. I can't wait to see more photos of her.
They released photos of the event heads. I'm torn on how I feel about them to be honest. 2023 Halloween Event Head
I want to do a faceup on the f65 faceplate… she has huge eyelids, and makeup would be so fun to do on them…
Well, I did it! I ordered Feeple 65 Carol full set that DDE has in stock. I am doing a lay-away, so I have a little while. I have been obsessing over her since the full set first came out. I love the 20s era and have a photo of my grandmother in a flapper outfit that I cherish. (yes, I'm that old!) I have never owned a doll as large as the Feeple 65 so this will be a new one for me! (I am also in love with the new Elf, Nuia, so I need to get this lay-away paid down quickly so I can also order her ) It all happens at once! Now to clear out some room for them... How do you all display your large dolls?
@Dollquest I also collect action figures and Lego and have always made little shelves or tables to display things on. So my big dolls much like my small dolls have some tables set up with doll scale chairs and such for them to sit on. Very few of my BJDs are on doll stands. Most just have a chair to sit in or just sit on a self or table. Also a few of my biggest dolls set in chairs made for humans and given those are 70cm plus boys they can have the spots they are in. (not like we get enough guests to worry about seating.) Oh and I have at any given time a "sofa buddy" or two those are a doll or two that sits by me when I am on my fav sofa/at the PC. They either sit by me or on my desk as I use my PC they tend to be a favorite, or the newest doll/s. Sometimes when my sewing table is set up I'll have a sewing buddy doll. I do not have to worry about pets or kids though, so my dolls (and my S.O.'s dolls for that matter) tend to sprawl into most rooms in the house. Also I'm very much taken by the new girl, and might have to try and swing her.
I this new sculpt! Can anyone tell me if I can put the Angela face plate I received last year with my Feeple65 Rick on this new girl's body? \ I'd read that FL had changed the heads or head mechanisms on the new bodies and I don't know if that means the new bodies aren't compatible with the older heads/face plates.
@VickieAngela Based on this post, I'm thinking they are not compatible. But you could still put Angela's faceplate AND her headback on the new body
@VickieAngela You mean the Medusa Angela right? If so she should be compatible, since the change happened on Sylvia's release and she's from after that.
Honestly, I'm not sure. I only know that I received an Angela face plate as a gift when I ordered Rick last March
Just wanted to pop in and say I'm excited for Nuia because I can't stop thinking about her. It's like Christmas! I wish there was a way we could request her to be released in the blue color, but I don't think they want that much trouble lol
Fairyland showed the changes from original F65 to the New Release- scroll down and there is a clear image group of the new headback/faceplate connection 'FeePle65' 카테고리의 글 목록
Never genuinely wanted an FL before seeing Nuia yesterday and now I've Lost my Gotdam Mind. Suspect I'm far from alone! She's like, a perfect development of the general trajectory their scultps have been going in, and I am so excited to see it. Lots of companies I've had to sternly re-evaluate thus year with regards to my personal desires, like Impldoll! What's going on?!
I am very tempted by Nuia. Does anyone know if Fairyland has released a photo of her sculpt blank? I do love the company face up but I want to see where the ears join the head. The wig hides that in the promo photos.
I was wondering the same thing. I haven't seen one either. And, what/who is the FeePle65 Halloween faceplate? I'm really bad at recognizing sculpts
I'm sure I'll order Nuia anyway, but I know, I'd just like to see the ears from the side a bit more. The photo from the event head doesn't show that much detail of them from the front. I wonder who the event head sculpt is too... I'm hoping that we see a few more pics on October 5th!
@jessholy Not sure at all if they will, but I was hoping they'd add a photo or two of the blank head as one of the update/announcements on their website, like they do sometimes.
@Ctrowbridge77 Aaaah okay! Then I will hope along with you and maybe it will manifest! I'm terrible at checking Fairyland releases so I actually saw Nuia on Denver Doll first.
@jessholy Fingers crossed! But I already ordered her today anyway lol. Yeah, I saw her first on Denver Doll's IG and then saw the announcement on FL's site that DDE would have her first. I would still be excited for any blank head photos while I wait though!!
@Ctrowbridge77 Hahaha! I definitely am into her - just gotta decide if I want to go all out so I can get her in tan...or not hahaha. I've never owned a tan doll before.
Hi everyone! Does anyone know of a video showcasing the new most recent feeple65 body? I think I'm confused as to when that transition happened and am curious of the posing. This gorgeous new sculpt has me interested! Another question: based on DDE's listings, is it normal for the tan option to only be available for the fullset? It's a bit too pricey and I'm not interested in the pieces so it'd kinda be a deal breaker for me :/
Not sure about where to find good vids of the newer body, but can answer the last question. Normally the basic version is also offered in tan, or that is to say it was with the last few f65 and f60 dolls. I only have a few tan skin Fairyland dolls (mine are all MNFs too). However I am 99% sure the last f60's basic version came in tan, as I was very temped to get my vampire Natis boy in tan. (In end went normal skin for him.) If I were you I'd double check with DDE if that was a mistake or if Fairyland is limiting tan skin on her.
