Fairyland Feeple 65 Discussion Part 6

Sep 24, 2019

    1. @Nikki'sNewObsession Yes another one has joined our ranks! :sneaky

Congratulations!! Welcome home Logan! I look forward to seeing her painting! :D

    2. Congratulations @Nikki'sNewObsession !! Ingrid is (sh!) My favorite sculpt. But of course I love them all :sumomo:

    3. Thank you! Me too, I cant wait to see her with her proper palette and mani/pedis.

Haha, Thank you. I loved Ingrid best too, but then Angela grew on me, and now I cant and wont choose a fave.
and I broke down and got an angela of my own. She just arrived as well. Here's Rhys:

    4. I think I need to have my Angela repainted. It's so sad since I was so excited to get her with her lovely faceup and it turned out so disappointing :( yours looks so lovely :D

    5. Thank you, but she wont be keeping this face up (fl default). her wigs covers the brows. Which works great for now!
but I plan on getting her a custom face up after the holidays.

    6. Eep! I'm excited that you went for TS Angela after all! Congrats! :D The F65 body is so beautiful in tan.

    7. I'm glad I did too! It really is beautiful! I look forward to more clothes arriving for the duo.
They just look so sassy in everything...

    8. Totally get that, @Nikki'sNewObsession

@Aquadoe , oh yes, you can never go wrong with FL tan! I only have one FL tan doll, and that's purely because I usually can't afford the extra cost :(

    9. Yeah, I wish fl would go back to tan being a basic option. I only have Rhys because I was able to purchase her on the second hand market as just the doll.

    10. @IngieBee Oh I totally understand. I voiced concerns of the tan option being locked behind a big paywall as the new standard when this started happening. I hope tan as a basic option will come back for larger dolls, but I highly doubt it.

The past few tan dolls I've gotten are only because I was lucky to find them second hand. I would gladly pay extra for tan if there is a basic option. The full sets are gorgeous, but for something I personally wouldn't use, I can't justify the price of a full set just to get tan. That's okay though because I prefer having my dolls custom painted and slowly getting clothes for them.

    12. I love tan dolls too and never buy full sets but with Angela I had to to get the tan option. As beautiful as the full set pieces are they are not really my thing so yes, very expensive tan doll ; )

    13. Stupid question time/.

I just received a second hand F65 Angela, and am having difficulty removing the faceplate. Can someone please tell me if there’s a “trick” to doing this?

    14. Pull away from the top by the ears, then down. There's a resin tongue of sorts that locks it into place on the lower half of the head.

      • x 2
    15. Well I did it, I paid off my Angela Type 2 and she arrived yesterday. I have officially joined the fairyland bandwagon, granted so far no one else has spoken to me so my wallet can sigh with relief...I need to focus on clothing anyways! X.x No pictures yet because my house has horrid lighting and it has been so cloudy the past couple of days. Only problem: She has those unfortunate eyebrows I was hoping to avoid. While I planned on wiping her face up eventually to redo her lips so the teeth were non-existent...I'm not sure how long the eyebrows will let me keep this face-up. Also, the 'blue' under her eyes is really dramatic on my face up. It is harder to capture in photos due to my phone's color-correcting, but in person, it almost looks like she dark circles/black eye bruising. Now begins the fun of trying to find a wig (preferably that I own already) to not only fit whatever character she decides to be but also to hide those little hook-y eyebrows of hers. I will admit, I'm a little afraid to handle her. Some of the resin, especially near the ankles, looks really thin/delicate.

      • x 6
    16. UGH, I know I'm here with you @errinreynolds. I love how her eyes are painted (the blue at least in my current lighting is pretty faint) but her eyebrows are slowly killing me. And at that point I am not totally in love with her lip color either. Whyyyyyyy!!! Haha I don't want to totally wipe her. My plan for now is to practice on my blank heads and then come back to considering wiping her and doing something new once I feel like I can actually make the hairs of the eyebrows and lower lashes look as good and detailed.

Haha and now I have this wig on her that I love but does not hide them one bit!

I think they are pretty sturdy but I know what you mean! Like she's so heavy, what if? I just clonked her head this morning while I was making a corset pattern for her, but thankfully she's fine.

She still doesn't even have a name!! XD

    17. @Ctrowbridge77 Yes! Death by silly eyebrows! Gosh, that wig does look absolutely stunning on her as well. See, with the lip color I figured I'd go in with a darker gloss and switch that up a bit..maybe an inking method like the ones used for my husband's Warhammer minis. Even a novice like me could have pulled that off and changed the color partially (her normal head actually doesn't have the teeth painted in at all so I thought I dodged a bullet till I looked at her eyebrows). Those eyebrows though...I don't know how anyone would be able to correct them without wiping them and if they have to go...so does the rest of the face-up.

See, I have the opposite problem! My souldolls seem so much heavier than she does. They also happen to be 75cms of beefy man muscle though. Even my girls (65cm Zeniths) seem a bit larger than she is and definitely a little heavier. My main worry is her ankles, they come to like...a point right before the ball for her foot. While I've taken the time to bravely tinker with her a little it just terrifies me that when I go to switch her feet to those awesome shoes or vice versa I'm going to end up chipping her ankles. Plus there is that extra piece in between her legs and her hips/butt area, I know it is there for a reason and I'm being silly but when I was trying to figure out the whole "push back to lock her in a sitting position" everyone talks about I was terrified I would break that somehow. I think part of it is her price (the whole "Designer Complete" makes my pocket cry. I would have rather had everything unpainted...but I didn't order her so I had to jump when I saw it in stock), even my larger boys didn't cost as much as she did when I bought them...granted none of them were fullsets.

That wig is absolutely gorgeous on her as well! (Its so nice I had to say it twice!) That's my issue, most of the wigs I have found that I like on her so far have absolutely no chance of hiding those eyebrows! :(

    18. @errinreynolds Aww thank you! She definitely looks better in a 3/4 view haha. They're like arch-villain brows! Whatever were they thinking? And I know, there is no hope to rid myself of them without losing the rest. NO fair.

I am totally referencing Warhammer techniques before I paint her armor!! That's funny. My husband's all into it too! I will also practice on some of those figures (who incidentally are the medusa ladies, too) before I even attempt her stuff.

This is my first SD, so she is heavy to me, but that makes sense you have some beefier guys and other girls that feel way heavier but seem sturdier. I see what you mean about her angle being more pointed in front and I definitely worry about chipping an edge too since I see that sometimes on second-hand market dolls! Pushing her legs in to make her sit, which I did today, is kinda frightening. I am at least mildly relieved that FL will replace parts, but having to restring her myself is ooof and of course the resin matching will potentially be a minor issue.

Your pockets may be crying, but that's still lucky ducky you nabbed a Designer's Complete in stock! I wish I had the parts painted, but I also am kind of excited to do something different. I think I'm still going to do that nice silver/pewter colored base, but the details in gold, and white wings on her head with gold snakes (one day at an undetermined and possibly far-off date). But I really love the oxidized bronze effect they did - it seems so fitting! And the greaves/sabatons look so rad in that silver plate color.

Best of luck finding a wig you love that helps!! Tbh, in no ways do these complaints diminish my love for her; I just enjoy moping about it with you all because it's 100% true haha.

    19. My Angela2 had those awful brows too @Ctrowbridge77 but I was able to
adjust them without removing the rest of the paint. Perfect no, but so much
better than as arrived. I was SO disappointed in the Fairyland paint - my
gal’s lips are more brown than reddish too, unlike the early dolls.

I will still most likely have her repainted one day…. Still the sculpt is gorgeous!

    20. @Robyn_in_WA I saw your girl pages back when I was catching up on the thread! She looks so great! It was smart to use a blade to scrape them off a bit where they hooked! I was rattling that idea around in my brain too! Still have to practice painting hairs before I would go there. But instead, I am doing a sewing project again haha. I need to decorate something. :)

    21. I was lucky and didn't get the eyebrows most seem to have on their girls. You can see what her brows look like in this shot

I have to say I love this sculpt and her snakes! :XD:

    22. Thanks @Ctrowbridge77 for your lovely compliment! That Volks ceramic blade
worked beautifully for me. It is not a perfect fix - if looking closer one can still
see where the ‘hooks’ were - but it’s good for now. I did not paint the modded
brows - as I couldn’t paint my way out of a paper bag - I used very sharp
artist pencils in a couple of tones of brown. And then sprayed MSD over
      the top of her head.
I forgot to mention - I also replaced her thin brown eyelashes with some
      more romantic ones.

You certainly were lucky @luluna !! Your Celestyne is simply *gorgeous*!!!
And her lips are a much prettier color too. I wonder what happened with
Fairyland’s painters during this time? So many Angelas got awful brows….

    23. @Robyn_in_WA I am intrigued by this Volks ceramic blade! I may have to pick one up when I order a new doll stand. My minifee still needs one! Yeah I also had thought to replace her lashes when I first got her. They are a bit more subtle than I want them as they are.

@luluna I have totally been creeping on your Celestyne in this thread! It's amazing how completely different and straighter her brows are and they have the nice diagonal upward-ness like the OG photos. That was totally my expectation for all of them haha. Lucky! She is so pretty and that wig looks amazing on her with her lovely paleness.

It's almost like my painter realized the brow line was a bit too low and then just curved the rest upward haha. But honestly, my Alicia's brow placement was a bit different from the original photos too when I got her. Mine looks more worried but it's def less drastic than Angela. I imagine it's not that easy to keep replicating and you don't want to start over if something gets positioned a bit off. So NBD in the long run.

I'm curious to see who else has unpainted parts from the set and what they intend to do with them color/finish-wise.

    24. Does anyone have the carol f65 yet? I'm new to f65s and i like her!

    25. My girl Rhys also arrived with the hook brows, but I hide them with bangs. I will get her a custom face up after the holidays. I'm excited to send her and my ingrid Logan off to the spa. :)

    26. That's exciting @Nikki'sNewObsession . Please show us when you get them back with their custom faces! She looks so pretty in tan. I have never sent anyone out for a custom faceup, but I kinda wish I would. I draw/paint and I have some reason to suspect I could do a halfway decent job at faceups myself but I am SO LAZY haha. So like, if I sent them out at least they'd be done. :XD:

      • x 1
    27. Angela really shines with a custom makeover. Then again, I've never really felt default faceups ever do any sculpt justice, so I may be biased. :sweat

      • x 1
    28. This is true. I didn't want angela2 until I saw custom face ups.

Oh I will post pics for sure!
I love getting custom face ups done on my dolls. It makes them more mine and starts the building of my character/bonding process. :)

I love Logan too. Even blank, but I'm pretty excited to get her painted:

    29. That wig is stunning, where did you get it please?? WOW! Feel you on the faceup, especially the lip color. I haddn't thought about just changing the color of the lps myself (they make her look like a zombie but not in a good way, deathly color rather than goth, which I could totally deal with :D ) But in pictures at least, she looks so lovely on my screen.

      Huge congratulations @errinreynolds :D I can't wait to see her :D
Well, you really reined it in on those brows, and the colors she wears might work with the brown lips? I might have to try different colors on my girl. I just haven't had the time. I've been working on projects all around the house lately and haven't had the energy even to come here :( Today was a day of rest for me (tummy ache put me down, LOL) So glad to catch up (after a lot of sleeping)

    30. I still need the courage! LOL. Good for you!!!

Yes, @luluna , you were very lucky, and I'm glad someone has the doll as she should have been for reference if nothing else :D And I'm keeping my jealous heart in check, LOL Are her lips still so brown in color?

I think I've seen someone post one a couple of months or so ago, didn't I? Or maybe they're still in-coming? She is a cutie, and I love her style.

Now that I have my Ingrid sculpt, she is definitely my favorite all time, just hits all the right notes for me. @Nikki'sNewObsession , to me she doesn't even need a faceup :D Gorgeous!

    31. @IngieBee Thanks! I got her wig from Moonlight BJD House. It's the Lace Front Basic Wig 2.0 by Celine in blonde with the pointy hairline. I really like the widow's peak on her.

      • x 3
    32. I've always wanted to see one of those teased hairline wigs on a female doll! Thank you so much for posting; it looks better than I had imagined.

I got this shot of Christelle today. Slowly figuring out her style after lots of trial and error, which while expensive (I bought several new things just to try on her, and almost none of it panned out :sweat), has been really helpful for figuring out her character's aesthetic; will make writing her a whole lot easier.

    33. @ChristinasDream Christelle is so beautiful! It is a lot of trial for me too to try stuff and figure out what I like and what kind of style I'm going to give a new doll. Hope someone else can wear the extra clothes! :D

Thanks for the nice comments about my wig! I am not sure why those lace front style doll wigs always seem to be shown on male dolls in promotional pics. I think they look great on both!

    34. I'm having a hard time looking but I acquired a feeple65 juri head...do you know if that head is compatible with the feeple60 headback?

    35. No, unfortunately. Depending on what year your juri head was made, if it's recent, you can order a head back from DDE @SKooKuM Hime

    36. Its the most recent release, and good to know!!

    39. WOW!!! @LyanneNZ - she *really* does look amazing!!!
Gorgeous work!!! Makes me wish to have my gal repainted
too - just like @Ctrowbridge77 says!! WOW!!!!

    40. Thanks @Ctrowbridge77 and @Robyn_in_WA I am working on the sleeping face plate but have run out of eyelashes. (Not very good planning on my part.)

Robyn I think you did well with your girl's eyebrows and she is lovely. It's surprising how different Angela can look...there is a lovely one on Instagram that Amethyst_Violet owns and I think she is really gorgeous!

    41. Thank you @LyanneNZ - I am happy with the brow mod - but - your Angela is
SO much prettier with her new makeup!!! I did find Amethyst_Violet’s photos
and you’re right - hers is gorgeous too!! I may try some different eyes in my
Angelique and see if that makes a difference - love the brown eyes in yours!

    42. Show us when you try some different eyes. I must confess I am not very good with eyes...I really need to find and invest in some pretty ones but whenever I go looking I feel overwhelmed and I don't want to decide on some (they are not inexpensive) and then find I don't really like them when they arrive. I miss Safrin doll as they were affordable and nice and bright and colourful.

I am working on sleeping face plate for Angela now so no worrying about eyes :) Only make up haha. I will share when she is all done.

    46. @LyanneNZ - She is just stunning. I think I even like her sleeping eyed faceup better than the open-eyed one!
She is so wonderfully glam! :XD:

    47. Oh my @LyanneNZ !! You’ve made this gal even more lovely
than the open eye version! I totally agree with you @luluna !

    48. Ooh I think I love the root beer coloured eyes...she really is lovely. You did a great job with her!

I think I like the sleeping faced Angela more too ... I felt compelled to put her in the pale blond wig. I'm working on the bite-lip face plate now...that may be a challenge for me! :ablink:

    49. Thanks @LyanneNZ !! :) I’m happier with her now.

Today I did a job that I’ve been wanting to do for several weeks -
since I bought a second pair of the default #11 hands. I’d already
separated the fingers on the second pair. Today I did the boil-mod
with them - to change how the fingers were bent. It took a couple
of tries and I’m more pleased with the right hand than the left.
But now Angélique has three pair of different hands to use!

The nylon string in the first pix was so that I could dip the hands into
the boiling water securely. The default/original hands are on the
      right in the bottom image.

    50. Glad you like her. :whee:It dose take a ling time for me to do this 2nd face-up, since I didn't like the 1st face-up I did for her.
I like your sleeping Angela, she looks so confident.

    51. There really is a big lack of hands for F65, especially compared to all those F60 hand options! Your boil mod looks great @Robyn_in_WA!

    52. Thanks @Cap'n !! The F60 has a wonderful set of optional hands -
as do the minifee. for some reason, Fairyland has never given the
F65 the options their other lines have. Including optional smaller bust.

    53. Oh yeah I'm just realizing the lack of bust options too. Plus it's really odd that of the couple non-limited hand options for F65, one is relaxed and the other kind of funky with those half way bent fingers. I would really love to have some more relaxed hand poses and I'm tempted to attempt a boil hand mod now too. But I also feel like Fairyland really should just make F60 hands with the connector for F65 wrists. These F65 hands are so massive! Or if only Fairyland would just sell the F65 wrist to F60 hand connectors. They don't sell them for Minifee either and I know a lot of people have wanted to hybrid Minifee magnetic hands onto other 1/4 dolls. They've sold headback adapters between sizes before so why not wrists too. :...(

    54. Yeah I would love a set of heart hands for both my feeple65 girls. They would look so cute!! And I totally agree on the bust option, it would also make them a smidge easier to dress since the bust is usually where I have most of my issues when trying to dress my dolls.
Quick photo of my carol (Luci) and ingrid (Olive) together too. my carol is just at the start of her custom since I still need to make her a wig and clothes so she can be my vampire pastel goth.

    57. Beautiful. I've always loved f65 chloe, but she was released long before I ever thought I'd own f65 scale. In fact, I think I only had mnfs at the time.

My ingrid and angela are off to receive their proper face ups and such. So, yesterday I decided to play around and put my f60 Mirwen on my f65 ingrids' body. I rather like the result: (but Alex will not get comfortable, I promise)
