Fairyland Feeple 65 Discussion Part 6

Sep 24, 2019

    1. Unfortunately (or fortunately) Carol never appealed to me much and less so as an F65. The face is too Anime to fit in with my 62+ cm dolls. Now this is just me, I like the f60s a lot and they're all anime mostly. I have a ton. But I moved over to more realistic dolls and they're all bigger. Ingrid and Angela barely fit in, LOL.

With the dress and idea of a 1920s flapper, I love the idea just not the execution. The dress doesn't have the correct silhouette for the 1920s And it looks like it should be the 1920s because of the gun and hair decor. Thus I can't get it out of my head and think it's just another fantasy outfit, LOL. But anyways, I'm realizing I shouldn't have requested in their survey for an F60 or F65 Marcia. It's her mouth and chin I love most, but putting huge eyes like that on a Feeple65 would just look wrong, :(

But Carol is very cute, and as a stand alone, away from my other dolls, she is very beautiful. And I really look forward to owner pictures :D And if I weren't into fashion history, LOL, the dress wouldn't have bothered me :D I'm sure :D

    2. Carol fullset honestly grew on me as time pasted. I honestly didn't buy they fullset for the Carol OE sculpt; more for a future hybrid with another brand floating head. However, her event heads did sold me to get the fullset.

The outfit had me on the fence at first. After a while and I thought (over thought) about it, the fullset is very appealing. I was comparing too much of what I know about the 20s realistic style vs Fairyland style. Now I cannot stop seeing her as the flapper mob lady or some type of 20s mob drama based on how scandalous (for the 20s) she dress. Her smoke stick and gun also help with the images as well. Maybe like Electro Swings, she's a futuristic/cyber flapper? I have no clue what I am saying :doh

Overall, I'm excited to see more owner pictures when she start to ship. I'm also inspired to make some 20s dress too for collections. I adore the 20s more than other decades.

    3. Oh I forgot about the cigarette stick, those were really cool looking, though it's a horrible habit, LOL, it does conjure up an era, no? I have one doll who smokes (shhhhhh) and would love one of those smoke sticks for her :D

    4. @IngieBee I agree that the outfit looks a little strange and Carol's head itself looks like an anime.
@aireoko If this is an outfit of the 20s, I lack more chic and sparkle in it.
In my opinion, Fairyland dolls are absolutely fabulous creatures. Carol doesn't look like one. Recently, I have been missing more fantasy details in Fairyland dolls, for example, minifee Ingrid does not have wings behind her back. And Medusa doesn't have a snake's tail. Perhaps this would affect the cost of the dolls, but they are already very expensive.

    5. I saw Carol and immediately thought of Daisy Buchanan in Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby. Her outfit isn't properly 1920's fashion, but it's pretty bang-on for the costume design of that movie. When I first saw her I immediately thought oh look, now Fairyland's doing Baz Luhrmann Gatsby cosplay. Wonder if they altered it enough to avoid infringing on IP they don't own this time.
FL Medusa gave me serious dรฉjร  vu of Soom's Gneiss

      • x 2
    6. @IngieBee I agree that it's a horrible habit but the typical image of the 20s. Darn you marketing industry from the past lol. I wonder if Carol head will look better on the Feeple60 body like the Juri Feeple65 head does.

@Lerika Yeah, I was also surprised minifee Ingrid does not have wings behind her back either or have that as an event item like Ria. For Medusa I wised she came with a pet snake like the Alan minifee caterpillar :XD:

@Girrl I think you are right, I did instantly got that vibes when I saw her as well - both on Daisy and Soom Gneiss.

I also wonder if Fairyland got their inspiration from costume historic profile of the early 1920s because of the knee length and baggy top.

    7. I didn't realize there was a movie. That's cool :)

Don't get me wrong, she's beautiful, I just have to pick reasons not to get her, as I already have too many dolls :doh and my feeple60s and minifee fill the anime void at my house :D

    8. @IngieBee I'm on the same boat every Fairyland releases as well. Unfortunately, I lost this time because I over thought about it and kept thinking about it *_*

    9. I'm also looking for reasons not to buy a lot of dolls, but this time I'm really calm and I can skip this event :) Unless I would like a minifi of Ingrid. But I had to abandon it because I like it better in the size of Feeple65 :)

      • x 1
    10. @aireoko , she's going to be beautiful like all Fairyland dolls are and I can't wait to see pictures of her!

    11. My Angela arrived yesterday. She is natural resin, and sadly arrived with the
unfortunate โ€œhookedโ€ eyebrows too. Iโ€™d hoped that she would be painted as
beautifully as @luluna โ€˜s gal Celestyne, but I was not lucky. My galโ€™s lips
are more brown in tone than reddish, which was disappointing.
I removed the unsightly hooks from her brows and sketched in something
softer. Sheโ€™ll do for now but I will most probably have her repainted. I also
got the sleeping faceplate, planning to open the eyes and use it with the
extra headback, but there are no eyewells in the sleeping plate, not sure
if Iโ€™m up for that job!

Here is a quick photo of my Angรฉlique - with an Amadiz wig, Dollbakery eyes,
and a lingerie piece from etsy.

    12. She is so lovely! I love her new face up! It makes her dreamy.:love

My Angela arrived last week and I'm wondering about wigs. I ordered an 8,5 inch wig, but it was small, which broke my heart. :((The wig was anyway on the smaller side...) Can anyone help me please? What size of wig can Angela take? Would she be more 9inch-ish?

    13. @Robyn_in_WA - Your girl looks wonderful! Your work on her brows looks really good. Her wig is gorgeous too!

    14. @Robyn_in_WA, she's gorgeous. I think the work you did on her faceup looks great! Such a soft expression. :aheartbea

    15. I'm super surprised that 8.5 didn't fit. I don't have my Angela yet, so I can't measure her head, but I can measure my Ingrid's head and it's 8.25" around.

@Robyn_in_WA , she looks stunning! Did you add freckles? Or is that an illusion? She looks so fresh faced, less sultry. How did you manage (If that's what you did) to just remove the eyebrows? She's IMO perfect!

    16. Thank you @Kurichan! Itโ€™s not a new facepaint actually - I just reworked
the hooked eyebrows. Sadly, I couldnโ€™t paint my way out of a paper bag!

Thanks so much @luluna !!! I was relieved at how the brows turned out!
The Amadiz wig was from my last order from mid-2020 - it took six months
to arrive but I am happy with it - especially with Angรฉlique wearing it!

Thanks very much @overlordu !!! I hadn't realized that the brows softened
her appearance, but youโ€™re right! I am quite happy with the โ€œlookโ€! :)

Thanks @IngieBee !! No freckles, it must be a result of the phone pic, sorry.
I used careful strokes with a Volks ceramic knife on her โ€˜hooksโ€™ and only
removed the โ€˜hookโ€™ part. I used my artist pencils to shade in the removed
area and to sketch in new regular brow shape. I may seal it once I give her
      some more romantic upper lashes.

      • x 1
    17. @Robyn_in_WA,

Congrats on her arrival. I think you did a beautiful job getting her to look how you wanted. She is just lovely. Love her wig.

    18. Yah, I agree with @Bren , you did an amazing job with the eyebrows and I agree, if you're going to remove the eyelashes anyways, it might be a good idea to seal your work. It might remove/dull the sparkles on the face, but that's not so bad. And the lips can be re-glossed afterwards if you want. Fantastic job @Robyn_in_WA

    19. Thank you very much for your help! I think I have to experiment with wigs then. :thumbup

    20. Does anyone know why identical dolls come completely different? Why do Angela's eyebrows differ from other Angela's? I also noticed a similar thing with minifee Dina while watching other people's photos on instagram. Minifee Dinas also differ in promo photos and in real life. Two Dinas also came to us in the split and they turned out to be different. Unfortunately, I didn't save this photo.

    21. Hm, my guess would be that the faceups are from different faceup artists that work for Fairyland? But I can't really say. Just a guess.

    22. Iโ€™m guessing either multiple faceup artists or just an artist who does things a little different between dolls?

    23. Making two faceups identical is really hard. Itโ€™s not surprising that company faceups vary a little bit, after all they are painted by hand, and even the smallest differences can have a big effect on the overall look of the faceup.

      • x 2
    24. I had a few minutes away from minding our recovering kitty, so I changed out
Angรฉliqueโ€™s dress into the red gown Iโ€™d made while waiting for her. Iโ€™m not
sure that the intense color quite suits her, so she may try the pale pink gown
Iโ€™d made at a later time.

Thank you @Bren for your compliment!! :)

Perhaps you can see that there are no sparkles or freckles on her face in
this photo @IngieBee - that was, I think, an artifact of my phone camera
and trying to reduce the size of the image. I see no sparkles in person.

I would not be at all surprised if Fairyland had more than one painter - with
so many dolls going out it would seem like theyโ€™d need a staff doing that work.
I had bought two of my minifee with Fairyland paint - Sirccaโ€™s was lovely - but
Chloe had โ€œunfortunateโ€ brows but at least they did look like the prototype so
I knew what Iโ€™d be getting. That certainly was not the case with Angela.
And to have seen a couple of early Angela arrivals with *lovely* brows made
      it more disappointing.

Iโ€™ve not yet had time to change out her eyelashes but still plan to give her
some more romantic, longer and darker lashes. I plan to only do MSC spray
on the upper part of her face - Iโ€™ve done that successfully several times in the
past, so no plan to regloss her lips at this point.

    25. With your updated eyebrows, she's absolutely gorgeous @Robyn_in_WA And yes, She looks clear faced now :D Not that I'd mind freckles on mine, LOL.

I just wrote toe DDE requesting a final payment invoice as I don't want to wait anymore. I want my Angela to come home!

    26. Your Angela has very beautiful and delicate eyebrows. The same as the company's version without hooked eyebrows. My Angela is also without crooked eyebrows. I was surprised when I saw other options from people on Instagram. Has anyone tried to change the eyelashes with their Feeple65? I want to replace my eyelashes with more fluffy ones, but I'm afraid of damaging Angela's face up.

    27. Yay @IngieBee ! Hopefully youโ€™ll have your gal in less than a week now!

Thank you @Lerika !! You were so lucky to get your gal with pretty brows!!
When Iโ€™ve removed eyelashes, after taking out the eyes, Iโ€™ve used a wet Qtip
from the inside of the head - dampening the edge of the lash - until the glue
releases. Iโ€™ve not hurried the process and - so far - havenโ€™t damaged the
face paint. One time I used a teeny bit of soap in the water that I dipped
the Qtip into - other times, just water. Others may have a better, more
      efficient method.

      • x 1
    28. Oh yah, follow what @Robyn_in_WA suggests @Lerika because you don't want to damage the faceup! :) Yah, I am sick of waiting for my doll, LOL, I need her home :D Even if it's a squeeze :love

      • x 1
    29. Yeah, I use the q-tip and water method too.

    30. I just paid her off (you reminded me to check my email for the invoice @Robyn_in_WA :D) Oh boy, I'm excited!

I hate putting in lashes so I've never purposely taken lashes off, LOL, but if I ever get better at it, I might try putting in some crazy lashes on some of my characters :D

      .

      .

      And She's SHIPPED!!! Yaaay

    31. Yay @IngieBee !!! I hope you like your gal as much as I do mine!!! :)

good news @Lerika - the old lashes come off super easily! My Angรฉlique
already has new lush lashes (drying)!!

    32. @Robyn_in_WA Oooh, Pictures please :D Mine should get here Friday according to UPS :D

    33. Sorry for the stupid question, but what is Qtip? I'm a little confused.

    34. It's a brand name for a cotton swab, like Kleenex is a brand name for facial tissue.

    35. More pictures please? I love seeing pictures, and would love to see any type of F65 :eusa_pray

    36. Here is my Angรฉlique all put back together. Iโ€™d removed her original thin, short brown lashes
and used some lush black lashes (yes, I know theyโ€™re a bit long, but I like that for my dolls!).
I also used a bit of MSC to seal her adjusted brows. And as her lips were more satin than
gloss, I applied some high gloss to her lips. Her lashes, MSC and gloss were allowed to
dry overnight - and I put her back together just a bit ago. I really am excited about her!!!

    37. Oh she's so stunning, and you're right, the pink really suits her, even so I loved the red dress as well, this is just super sweet! I sure hope mine is as pretty, oh wow, so pretty!

      lovely photo @luluna :D

    38. Hello!! I'm pretty new at fairyland since today I bought an Ingrid head and it's the first time I will own anything from that company:dance Idk if it will be possible to get her feeple 65 body in the future tho :sweat so I thought of asking if anyone here has put a feeple 65 head in other bodies? Tried looking it up but it's always other company heads on feeple bodies :vein

      Thanks so much everyone :kitty2

    39. @Freiheit89Kltz Hi, I was able to put my Lora head on an Impldoll body using a donut (like you can find at Luts) and I've also used neck adapters from Shapeways marketplace. I think the girls look best with a similar or wider shoulder width (11 or 12 cm to the tip? and colorwise, many companies will match the color but you'll have to supply a sample, I use paint chips from the hardware store. Or if you plan on doing your own faceup, you could blush to match a darker skinned body??

      • x 1
    40. Thank you so much! I actually do the faceups myself ^^ is the neck part troublesome? I believe the neck hole is not like the regular ones all bjd have but different? :?

    41. Yah, they have a key lock mechanism. The donut to hold the head on is a great solution if you're using a bigger neck, for smaller necks, the neck mechanism from Shapeways might be needed if her neck looks to short.

I don't think my Angela is going to make it tomorrow, as scheduled. She took 2 days to go from Colorado to Utah where she landed this morning. She'll probably come on Saturday. I'd be surprised if she came tomorrow.

      • x 1
    42. Hum, I was one of the first to order Angela 2 on December 10th and I still got the weird eyebrows. I can't help but wonder if she was switched out since she'd been sitting at DDE's for over a month and her eyes aren't properly inserted. I don't think I'll order from DDE again.

Also, those are some exceedingly thin lashes, I totally see why you wanted to insert heavier ones @Robyn_in_WA , they're not even black but a brown and shorter and thinner than the bottom lashes. I probably won't change them as lashes are my most hated thing to install, LOL. I'll try taking pictures tomorrow :D

    43. That's a disturbing thought, @IngieBee .
I always feel helpless when I have a doll on order. Send a lot of money to the other side of the earth and have faith you'll get something you'll like.
Or trust a dealer to be your advocate.
      :daisy hug.

    44. Oh, it wasn't unexpected, as so many got those dreaded brows. I actually paid her off when I saw what the later dolls looked like hoping to prevent any switching. Of course, this might be the doll CP/Fairyland sent to be mine and nothing nefarious happened, but I'll always wonder...

But I'm not alone in my disappointment as many here have gotten the funky brows. I wish I had the talent to fix them like @Robyn_in_WA who did a fantastic job :thumbup

I dressed her in a matching dress Ingrid has on and a matching wig but in blonde. They look so good together, can't wait to take pictures:)

      • x 2
    45. I ordered my Angela on about 16 Dec from DDE...and did a three month layaway....
I feel lucky now...to have gotten the nicer brows.

I look forward to seeing more photos! :)

    46. All of my experiences with DDE range from unremarkable (not bad, but nothing special) to downright horrible (rude, dishonest, and I'm pretty sure they charged me for replacement parts the company them sent for free and pocketed it themselves) and they told me I had to fix their mistake directly with the company my doll was made by, who naturally couldn't help me much because we had no way of tracking the individual order because DDE refused to provide any information.
TLDR: I'd bet actual money DDE totally did something nefarious. #### those @$$#####

      • x 2
    47. Uhhh, wow! I've had nothing but good experiences with DDE, as far as ordering goes. My stuff has always been perfect and they're always super nice when I have a question or need help. In fact I used to wonder if they even checked dolls for damage because when I receive them they look like they've never been opened.
My only issue I've had is that they issued a refund as "store credit" but actually it was in the form of a gift certificate, which had an expiration date. :ablink:

      • x 2
    48. Can't wait to see your girls :D:D:D

    49. I too, have had nothing but good experiences with DDE. Iโ€™ve chatted with them by phone,
have asked for help choosing things, and have ordered a number of dolls - pre-orders and
in-stock. I did have a couple of mistakes happen several years ago (RealFee) - they were
promptly and perfectly addressed! Theyโ€™ve never been anything but helpful and have
been kind and responsive on the phone too.

I agree with @overlordu - my doll boxes from them have always appeared to never have
been opened. I did ask one time to see a photo of an in-stock painted minifee Chloe - they
were kind enough to do that for me - and I bought the doll - so that box had been opened -
      on my request.

My F65 Angela also had wonky eye insertions @IngieBee - perhaps Fairyland was in a
hurry - or perhaps UPS tossed the box one time too many? One eye was in, and the
other was mostly out. Not a problem for me as I never keep acrylic eyes anyway.

Thank you @IngieBee for your *lovely* compliments on my fixes to my Angela2!!!
I really cannot paint my way out of a paper bag - so I think what I did - most anyone
else could do as well. The thin, short brown lashes that my Angela2 came with
were just not what I wanted on such an exotic gal. I donโ€™t โ€œlikeโ€ replacing lashes
either, but it was worth the hassle to me.

    50. @IngieBee I'm sorry that you had the weird hook too. Did you buy the designer or full? And did you get the eye upgrade if you got full?

DDE didn't send me the upgrade eye with my order so I had to wait for them to resend them to me a few weeks later.

DDE for me have been hit or miss. I order a lot from them for the convenience of Fairyland and layaway but only because of that. About 2 out of 3 of the orders I got from them overall were something missing or they ship the wrong one to a point where I check very very carefully of every shipment they sent me because I don't think the quality check is there from their side. I suspect due to volume.

Don't get me wrong, they always fix the issues but it's annoying that it's not a rare occasion but a constant issues. For example, missing item, sent me the wrong heel feet (moe vs aline), wrong pricing, etc

For the rude part I only experienced once when I asked to order a pair of MSD Hand. They directly said they are not placing an order for a pair of hand even if they support the brand. Okay that's fair. Guess what's available to pre-order on their site a year later? That same pair of hand I asked for :sigh

    51. We had that heat wave not too long ago, to the point that a doll I recieved recently had warped resin from shipping. The eye putty probably just melted? :sweat

      • x 2
    52. Yah, I mean, I don't have any proof guys, only suspicion. When there was a problem with the faceup, I imagined customers who can come inside the store for pickup, checking their item, complaining, and DDE switching it out with another order. That may never have happened, but the thought scared me enough to bring her home asap.

I was also a bit grumpy still as I was confused about the gauntlets, and thought the drop down menu was for painting them, not adding them. When I realized I wouldn't get them a few days later (3 or 4) they said I couldn't add them. In this day and age of computers to keep track of things, I think their lack of service is a little uncalled for. That goes for Fairyland as well.

But they both can afford to be this way because there is a high demand for their product. Supply and demand.

Overall, I am very pleased with my Angela. She is beautiful, and I love her. I'm going to take a picture here in a second :) (uh , more like an hour or so, LOL) and I'll share here.

Oh, and I got the full set. I did get Oscar eyes, I didn't realize I was supposed to?? I thought it was part of the gift bag. I did put them in her, they look cute.

      • x 2
    53. Oh how horrible @Lady Ravenswood , yes, I hadn't thought of that, but it's super hot here as well, that could have happened. My disappointment was short lived, she's so beautiful, I can live with funky brows :thumbup

    54. @IngieBee I'm glad you still love her, she's a beautiful doll. For the Oscar eyes, it's an extra add on you have to buy if you ordered the fullset. They usually add the Oscar eye to the doll itself when they ship. Or at least each time I order from DDE I never get Oscar eye and the basic one. Only Oscar when I pay for the upgrade. They come for free when you order the designer set.

    55. That's why I was surprised, they included Oscar eyes which I didn't pay for. They were in the "gift bag". I chose that for my event. I got resin shoes, a 5/6 wig and the eyes.

She's really lovely and I think I'll get used to the brows. They'd be cool on an elf though :)

    56. Ah! I think the eyes were part of the gift bags - the gift bag event was pretty nice!

    57. Yah, I'm glad they fit. I bought a faced up Ingrid face plate so the two sisters would match. She came with Oscar eyes as well, so now they really match.:dance now I want to open her sleeping face plate eyes and have a second set of girls I paint myself, or she'll just always be biting her lip, LOL. Actually that'd be OK too as I love that faceplate :D

And I didn't get that picture taken :(

    58. Ooh you managed to get the faced up Ingrid faceplate? I recall you regretted not being able to order it with your initial order for Ingrid, so glad to see you managed to get it separately too. Are you getting a new body for her, or is she going to be sharing with your 1st Ingrid?

My Ingrid has been put away in a box for now while I'm working on some other dolls, so for now I'm going to live vicariously through the pictures here haha. She'll be fine though - already promised to make her a new dress that would suit both the hat and gloves from the original fullest later.
