Fairyland Fantasy Art Line (Part 1)

Amen to that. I have two hippogriffs who still aren't blushed. I'm terrified to send them away and I don't even know where to begin to do it myself. One of these days I'll get up the courage to send them out for a spa treatment. I keep telling myself I will. Thankfully they actually are quite pretty even without blushing. But seeing the blushed ones does make me want to hurry up and get them painted.

 

I've finally got a plan and all the colors for mine here, but I need to finish the doll I have in pieces first, and I've been terrible about that... I got motivated to make the plan, at least, by seeing other people's all done, though, so hopefully I can take that and push through the nervousness about unstringing.

 

I did Stormwing's blushing without unstringing him - and managed to not stick any of his joints together. Not too bad for a first try:

My Rus (still looking for a name) is WS and I'm blushing him/her in the style of a lilac breasted roller, so unfortunately I don't think I can get away with skipping the unstringing. My plan is to take a lot of notes and photos while doing the unstringing. And possibly to do it in sections so I don't have to have everything in pieces for very long!

 

You all need to blush your hippogriffs! May I give you a bit of inspiration perhaps?

I liked her a lot even before the blush(the sculpted fur/feathers are really nice), but I must say, having her painted is great. She's gotten much more attention now that she's blushed.

I do however miss her little white paws though, she was adorable with them but I sold the extra pair of bunny legs I had so she'll have to have her bird feet now :/

 

I finally managed to blush my hippogriff. Thule is a hippogriff from the far North, that's why he's icy color. How do you like the result?

I love the little Realfee girl! What kind of creature is she? I wonder what her price will be.

 

Oh, I think I'm safe! If this one had been a cat (or more cat-like), I would have been done for, especially with those paws! But I think I can resist this release, as lovely as it is, and hold out for a cat RLF or FAL like I really want.

 

I feel safe but that picture is incredibly cute. She's so carefree and happy.

 

Oh my WORD that gryphon. I was hoping they'd re-release Rus some day, but this is even cuter!

But I don't know which color to pick: agra tan or pink? I really, really love the agra tan on Cookie and love how FL painted their griffin. At the same time, the pink looks really nice and may be a bit more versatile than the agra tan?

 

I have a fullset pink griffin on order!

I was also torn between pink and agra tan, but I do think the pink will be easier to blush/paint. And I love how the pink hippogriffs I've seen have come out.

 

Just placed my order! I went with Agra tan. While pink was very tempting, I associate griffins with more earthy colors and I think it will work better with how I want to blush her.

Though after looking through all the FL hippogriff pictures I could find, I think I would like to own a pink Rus someday.

 

I ordered a full set in plain white!
Agra Tan is really tempting, because that way I could do a red-tailed hawk color scheme, but I have a gryphon OC who I've been drawing for ages, and she's black, grey and white.

If I get a white base color, she'll also stylistically match my other doll when she's done. :3

I did take Linden apart to blush him, but he's got nowhere near as many parts, nor did he come with a warning to not disassemble unless it's really necessary. I suppose I'll have to blush the griffin in one piece, then. That's going to be interesting.

Edit: Order placed! One fullset in white will be coming my way!

 

So I see we have a pink, an Agra tan and a white on order from people. Anyone else ordering? I keep going back and forth about what I want to order. I already have one violet Rus and one Agra tan Rus already for my Haru and June...so now I decide which two will go with my Coco and Toki. I think I want to do pink for Coco and then I'm not sure. I keep debating because I don't think I want to repeat a color, but the Agra tan looks sooo good and I absolutely adore the violet resin and we so rarely see it. But a part of me says, no repeating allowed. They should all be different and I should get a white one. I wish they had also had mint as an option and this would have been an easy decision. Haha. One pink and one mint. But I just don't know what color Toki's guy should be. So I would love your input-go with white and have no repeat on any colors? Or opt for Agra tan or violet?

 

@Meggethann If you are absolutely certain about not repeating colors, then you should go with pink and white
From what I've seen they're both lovely colors. You can always trade for a different color if you end up not liking them. Good luck with making a decision! Let us know what you end up picking.

After looking at some griffin pictures, I noticed that a lot of them have white heads with brown bodies. I actually want to see if mixing the head and body colors (not just white and agra tan, but maybe white and pink, pink and violet etc) would be an attractive option.

 

I'm definitely leaning towards the violet Griffin. But I'll have to wait until Friday before I pace any orders.

 

Just jump in and want to know how many people like to order paws and how many like to order talons...

 

I'm definitely ordering paws since I got talons on my two Hippogriffs last time. Plus I think the paws are beyond precious. I will say I was a little disappointed when I saw the head though. I thought we were getting more a cat type creature and not another bird looking creature. I still think Ruca is absolutely adorable, but oh I would have loved a lion or cat type head to go with those paws. But Ruca is still cute. So yeah...I'm definitely getting paws since I've already got talons.

Someone mentioned earlier how fun it would be to mix and match the resin colors. I think I just might after I receive my two Rucas. I'm pretty sure I'm opting for pink and white. I can mix and match with my violet Rus and my Agra tan Rus. Haha. Change out the heads, tails, wings, paws, talons...talk about silly! I can't wait!

 

I got the talons. The paws are cute, but I wanted the more birdlike creature - bird's head, bird's wings, bird's feet!

I'm delighted with the back paws, and having a winged lion or a sphinx to go with later would be great, but the talons really said 'gryphon' to me.

 

@snowman I absolutely love the paws. I'm definitely getting front and back.

@Meggethann I feel the same way. More of a lion would've been great with the option for paws.

 

@snowman I went with paws as well. It looks like there's more poseability with them. I also didn't want my Ruca to look too similar to my Rus since they'd both be the same color.

 

Ah, I'm looking forward to seeing all the new dolls here! Especially the paw ones, the paws are so cute :3

 

Im gonna be ordering a white ruka! The wings are going to go to a different doll tho. And hes going to be a hybrid based on Impossible Creatures, a white tiger combined with a cockatiel. :3

 

I just placed my order with DDE. A violet Ruca full set with lion paws front and back.

I was wondering if the heads would be interchangeable between Rus and Ruca? That would be interesting to see.

 

I was wondering that too! I was also hoping Fairyland would post pictures of Ruca and Rus together...

Maybe if enough people ask, they'll give us photos?

 

I hope. Since they advice not to take them apart fully. Changing heads would be cute with the different leg attachments.

 

At least they should be interchangeable from the lower neck where the realfee body attaches when making a centaur. Though the head mechanisms look the same, it's hard to see if they are similar enough inside to change just the head part.

'Finally made up my mind and ordered the little gryphon as a companion for my hippogriff. (She's the agra tan, so I went with white for this guy)

And... yeah. I'm guilty of having never worked up the nerve to blush Sky. Maybe having two feathery little monsters sitting there staring at me will finally convince me to get a move on with that.

 

do we have any blank pictures of ruca yet? i could've sworn i saw some but i can only find ones of rus?

So cute, Lana, my hippogriff got paws now and the Ruca got the hippogriff body. I think they both looks so good with these bodies ~

The lion paws are...a lot harder to pose than the hippogriff body. This is probably also due to how tightly strung the lion body is compared to the hippogriff. It seems everytime I get something new from Fairyland they've strung it even tighter >.< It's a bit frustrating because I know the lion body would pose so much better if it wasn't strung so tight. There are poses I want to o but literally can't pull off because of the tension in the strings :/

The paws are like rounded underneath too, so it takes some practice to get Lana's new body to stand. I do absolutely love her new body though, it suits her so well! ^w^

 

The heads are swappable. That's good to finally see. I think Rus looks cuter with the lion body.

Yes, the structure is just the same. The only difference is the legs. The tail, wings and head can be freely swapped between the two bodies. The only thing is that the older pink body have yellowed a bit, and it's uneven >.< I have another doll that's in a pink tone and I think it might be that the pink resin, or any red resin gets yellowed pretty quickly. It' still a nice color, just less pink.

Rus really suits the lion body with the more rounder shape and I think the Ruca head really looks pretty awesome on the hippogriff body. I'm so happy me and @meowzetta were able to trade!

@Akara Lana's looking super cute on her new body! It is a shame about the posing though. Has anyone tried to restring a Rus or Ruca yet? If it's not too complicated maybe you can lessen the tension a bit?

 

I don't think I've heard about anyone doing it yet but I definitely want to give it a try. First I'll do the trick of putting her in poses that will stretch the elastic and see if that helps. I was trying to put her back legs in a particular pose yesterday but because of the tension she couldn't do it >.<

But yeah, if that doesn't work I'll definitely have to restring her I think. Should be fun to figure out how to do it (the strings for my fairyline centaur was cut because they were so tightly strung that PacificeBlue couldn't get the hooves off, so I'll most likely have to put her together too. I'm going to wait until I have her all done because I have a feeling the parts are somewhat similar so having Lana put together will be nice as a reference)

meowzetta, I did restring, when I blushed my Rus. It was little complicated, because string was very hard strained and very short. I changed string inside. I think maybe my Rus can't take pose good, but it will save him. In my opinion, FR makes very hard tension it can damage details.

 

Yay! Congrats everyone! It's good to see all the Rucas coming in. Mine arrived at DDE today but I'm not ready to pay her off completely just yet.

@Akara I really like Lana on the griffin body. I think I'll do the same with Cookie too. I looked through your pictures on Flickr and I loved every single one! it's a shame about the stringing though. Hopefully you'll be able to loosen it without completely restringing her.

For those of you who have Rus and/or Ruca in different colors, would you be willing to swap their heads around? I'm mostly interested in white and Agra tan but would love to see any other color combination too!

i like the brown you have, i was thinking of blushing mine with my favourite colours: pink, white, brown, and green, so we might end up with similar colour schemes.... good to know it looks great!

mines not gonna have a head because i'm combining it with my realfee coco, but i might keep on the lookout for a rus body... love those claws!

i already think i want another ruca in a tan...
but i still have two more moths of layaway on this order before i can even start to think about that. :P

 

Storm is very tightly strung, too... And yeah, the lion paws just don't seem to pose as well as the hippogriff hooves and claws. They're not bad, really. But they are less forgiving. The thing that bothers me more are the "paw pads" on the underside that cause the paws to sit at a "toes up" angle rather than flat on a surface. That affects the little guy's stability.

I was still able to get him to do this, though. (His wings aren't touching the surface he's standing on, for the record. He's balanced completely on his back paws-)



Currently he's doing sort-of a sphinx pose with crossed from paws and folded wings, sitting on the corner of my living room side-table. So... plenty pose-able. Just not quite as easy to handle as Sky.

 

@Brightfires I love your Storm. It's great to see that the griffins can still do that pose even though it's a bit more difficult to achieve. I wonder why FL added the foot pads the way they did? Do you think sanding them down might help with that particular issue?

 

Finally got Ruca home. I'm definitely in love. I wasn't sure how much I would like the head until I saw it in person. It's wonderful.

@taixonay I think the footpads are mostly for the realistic detail. They look cute, but the toe beads seem a bit higher then the pad itself. I don't see why sanding wouldn't fix the issue. But the toe beads look like they are a different part of the foot holding the paw in place, kind of hard to explain without a picture though..

 

Ah I see. If I take Lana apart I'll definitely use a longer string ~

Oooh Cookie is so cute, I can't wait to see her with paws. I think the Ruca head looks so good on the hippogriff body too, I mean just look at how pretty @meowzetta 's Ruca looks now! The wings and just everything goes so well together ~

I second that request, I'd love to see other color combinations!

Don't they? I love that we were able to do this swap, I'm super happy about it and I hope (and think) meowzetta is as well! :3 I'll be posting a box opening later as soon as I've sent meowzetta's Ruca. I want to focus on sending it off so she can play around with her cutie soon too!

Storm is so cute! And yeah, I agree. It's not so bad but it's definitely a bit more tricky to get Lana to stand with her new paws but I definitely do not regret it one bit, she looks so cute with paws! :3

I do think it would help. The tip of the paws are two peices though, so not sure how much you'd be able to sand but I think it could work to get it to be more stable.

@Akara That is a very strange way to do paws! I don't think I've ever seen it on anything else. I wonder if there's an advantage to casting the toe pads as a separate inner piece. I guess that's where the S hook goes but you could probably cast the toes as a single piece and have it work the same way. Not that I have much experience with this kind of stuff.
