You never know though as I never thought they'd bring back the feeple 65 line and we've had 4 releases in about a year!

 

That is a good point. Was the feeple 65 line also removed from their website at some point?

 

Last I looked at the old website, chic-lines we're still there. With the new website came the first new feeple65 so I just don't think that'll be a good indicator @Subzerolover ???

 

Thank you everyone! @saharali No, it is just minifee sized. Minifee boys and Chicline boys are very similar in the torso, and they share clothes a lot here. When you line them up shoulder to shoulder the torso height is close, but standing next to each other minifee has taller legs.

 

I concur with @redmaiko - Chicline boys can definitely wear MNF outfits... particularly on top. Although one of my Chicline boys is wearing MNF trousers (they're too long). Chicline girls can also wear MNF tops, but they're a lot smaller than the MNF girls. (There's a good comparison shot of a MNF and Chicline that I took years ago here - I would have posted it, but people can get twitchy about full frontal dolly nudity.) There are a few more comparison shots that I can share if anyone would like me to dig them out - or I can always take more photos... Have to admit one of my favourite comparison shots was ones I took of an F65 and Chicline.

Okay. So I have basically given up trying to get a Chicline female body.
Does anyone here happen to have a Chicline female body AND the new curvy 2D Doll MSD body? The measurements are close, and they look very similar. Eagerly waiting for my 2D Doll. I'm hoping it's a good substitute for the Chicline body. Thoughts?

 

Oh gosh, if you find something that works, please do share! I don't have a body that would work, and do have some extra heads as well, so yah, really interested to see if that works!

 

@IngieBee what other bodies have you tried, if you don't mind me asking?
I have floating head, been looking for suitable body too. Based on a quick mock, dollpamm new slim body (girl one) and the new dollzone 35cm looks the most promising.

 

I'm currently waiting on three possibilities for a Chicline hybrid:
MYou's newest version 3 MSD body.
Charm Doll MSD body
2D Doll version 2 (SY) body

I also have a doll chateau body in 1/4 scale I'm thinking of trying, and I noticed that Dollshe 1/4 heads are the same size as Chicline - but I didn't like the Dollshe head. I thought it was too small for the body, which has broad shoulders.

Hopefully, everything will be arriving soon, and I can start testing the different bodies out.

ETA - they're off-topic, but Ficondoll bodies were a perfect match, proportionally. I just found the aesthetics clashed (Ficondoll is more mature and realistic). If none of the above bodies work, I'm giving up and getting a 16-inch Integrity Toys body, I swear.

 

@marxwyn , I have Iplehouse JID, Minifee, Dollmore kids and recently, I got withdoll bodies for my dollmore Fashion Dolls because I'm not a fan of dollmore joints, but love these fashion dolls. Unfortunately, none of them have a small enough neck, though I'm pleased with how the dollmore fashion dolls look on the withdoll bodies. Their heads are significantly larger than Chic dolls. However, it does seem that there are other companies that have made smaller fashion like dolls, but I can't remember names... maybe it was Granado? I would think if someone made a 35cm doll, it might be a good chance of fitting?? I see some 3d printed dolls on etsy, but yah, it's difficult

Just adding a photo of my Chicline Lishe - I repainted her face in 2022 but never posted her photos. I painted her eyeballs too as her eyes are so tiny...it's a pity this line is gone.

She's beautiful! Great face up. I've always liked the chicline are they in scale with the fids? If you have any comparison photos I'd love to see them.

 

Hoooo no. Chiclines are tiny. They are a hair bigger than a Barbie. Although I don't have a comparison photo, I have years of bitter experience trying to hybrid a Chicline head with multiple bodies. FIDs are almost double the size, width-wise.

 

I wouldn't say Chic Line are a hair taller than barbie, more like a whole head and a half. Barbie is under 30cm (barely at CL shoulder height), Chic Line are 41cm, I don't own an IH FID, but I believe they are closer to 45cm. So, they would probably not look in-scale, unless one of them was seriously taller, or one of them on the much shorter/younger side of people whiting the same "world/universe." Which is a thing IRL, but the head sizes would probably make the proportions look off in some way -- Chic Line seem to be thought of as having tinier heads (which is my personal preference), than most other dolls around their "size."

My own Rou, whom I've not photographed in a million years. I need to get to working on my "larger" BJD, instead of just procrastinating... (or full-time-focusing or trying to, on 1:6 action figures) DX

Sorry I'm late back here to reply @Loganberry Yes, like @petiteballerine mentioned they are more in the scale of the Tonner 16" dolls. They don't fit in with the FID sized dolls at all. I also found that they are quite short waisted and so fitted clothes often didn't work perfectly although they can share quite a lot of items.

In fact I found an old photo where my Chiclines are standing in front of a bunch of Tonner dolls...my Chiclines have both been repainted since...

So, I'll probably go on a little rant here, that may or may not be on-topic for this thread. I apologize in advance, feel free to skip, not read, ignore. I shared a photo up there, a few posts above/before. With a photo that is crappy, as the dickens, because I take horrid photos. I rarely see Chic Line, so I thought I would share an ancient photo of mine, because this is a thread for discussing them. I thought that the bug DoA was going through/has-been-suffering from didn't allow me to see the photo anymore, after a few days. I went to fix it a few days ago, and again it's gone today. I searched through my albums, because Imgur has a tendency to move my photos around for no reason. I thought that was what it was again, and just re-uploaded the photo. However, and once again, it was gone! I searched the whole thing, all my albums, it was literally not there, just deleted.

I had a similar issue with them last year... I hate censorship, I understand wanting to keep things mild, I myself block even slightly (suggestive) sexual anything from my social media, because I don't want to see/read those things under any circumstances. However, I don't believe (full-on-doll, in this case) nudity to be inheritably sexual. More so when it's a plastic doll, by itself, no other participants, just standing there semi-or-fully-nude. Doing absolutely nothing!? Just as beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I feel like pervertedness is also within that realm.

One more, just to see if I'm right, or just paranoid due to old age and insomnia. Lol!!!

Thank you, IngieBee! I love my Rou very much! I wish I would have been able to get a second or third Chic Line male body, just to keep around because they are so beautifully sculpted (and an Ino). Chic Lines are definitely my favorite doll bodies of all time. Their heads are smallish, I guess. But then again, Barbie have giant heads, as much as I love Barbie and still to this day remain a Barbie hoarder, I feel their heads could be much smaller. Not what the target demo wants, as far as I have read, so too bad for me.

I can see Imgur deleted my earlier photo once again, so I won't bother to "fix" it yet again. Pretty weird how they deleted that one, but not the full nude torso one. I am wondering if their "AI" thought it was a female with a nude chest, because the arms weren't visible, so it looked like a female doll showing off their b00bs. Pretty dumb anyway... DX

Edit: Wonder if they'll do the same thing again if I post a photo from the same "set." I was thinking of updating my old gallery threads on here with imgur links, but I guess I won't be able to if they censor doll nudity. Most of my photos are kind of full-blown nude upper torsos, if not full nudity. I suck at sewing, so I rarely attempt sewing much anymore -- that's why most of my dolls are nude most of the time, not because I'm an old lazy bum, of course! (;

I love the ChicLine bodies and size so much. Why won't you bring them back Fairyland?

 

A while ago they said they were willing to create a few, if enough people ordered at once. I believe kind of like old-school DIM Minimee group orders, of ten people or more per head sculpt. Only, this would be for dolls, not just for the body or heads. However, if I recall correctly, there wasn't enough interest back then, which was the main reason why FL discontinued the Chic Lines, if I'm not mistaken. I always wanted one more doll (head and body, not just one part), but I was never in a postion to get another one (i'manofftopicfigurehoarder). I don't know if FL are still willing to do a group order of sorts, but I guess it can't hurt to ask them again. I am definitely not interested in getting more resin cast dolls anymore, but if they were willing to make ABS/PVC ones, I would be in for sure (wild dream, I know!). I do love my single CL male, he's the most beautiful full-bodied doll I own, just for the body alone, although I do love Rou's face sculpt, I find it stunning, the body is the winner hands down for me. I found the CL heads beautiful as well, but there's like a million beautiful BJD heads out there (even if not this size), rarely any bodies whose proportions I like. DX

 

Wow, thanks for the information! Maybe I'll shoot FL a mail regarding the ChicLine dolls. I'm curious what they're going to answer (although I guess, I already know what it would be. A couple of weeks ago, I had asked them if they have any Feeple60 wrist parts for sale, and they replied that they only sell the items available on their website). I think FL would have to sell thousands of ABS ChicLine dolls to make it worth their while, injection moulds are crazy expensive. Unfortunately, the CL dolls weren't very popular and too ahead of their time. But I want to believe that there's a market for well proportioned yet more stylized dolls in the 40 cm range.

 

@Nighton_woN I'm only one person, but I would get a CLine if they ever released again! Mature minis are my jam!

 

I would get a Soo Dark CL girl in natural skin if they let us do a small group order~

l know manufacturing other types of plastic besides resin is expensive and require an actual factory just due to the nature of other plastics. That's why I said I knew it was a "wild dream" of mine. (:

It never sounded like FL wanted to bring Chic Line back, but we're willing to create just enough pieces to justify the cost of making new silicone molds, if enough people purchased a certain amount them. I hope they are still willing to do so, for those who want them now. I really do love the Chic Line dolls, and still regret not being able to get at least one more male when they were still available.

I always thought CL were way ahead of their time, but not the aesthetic their target audience seem to favor (hyper-stylized cute girls, with giant heads, the CL look nothing close to any of their current lines, proportionately). They probably don't want to bother with a line they didn't do well with, when they have their well selling stablished lines already. But I would like to see them making even just a few, for those who didn't get to purchase one a decade or so, ago.

 

I actually wish they’d release them again in a slightly bigger size so they fit in with the FID and Raccoondolls - the mature MSDs have really taken off lately! I used to love my Chicline dolls but I sold them all in the end as they didn’t fit in with any other dolls. If they came back in a bigger size I’d be so tempted to get them again!!! Very unlikely Fairyland will do it, but hey, I can dream!

 

You seem to be right, even now FL seems to be struggling with the notion of fitting CL into their current line-up. They responded to my email in the following way:

I don't think there's enough interest to reach this amount of orders, or maybe there is, but how let people in the community know about this opportunity?

 

It would probably be easy to spread the word on social media sites. Having said that, it would probably attract others as well as not just people who want to actually own one piece (or more) for their personal collection. I have seen illegal copies of their CL female sculpts, but none of the males so far. In a fashion doll senses, males are always the less popular (not speaking about "fashion" BJD sizes). While Chic Line Males don't look anything like fashion dolls (coming from a 42-year-old-fart who has collected Barbie since birth), I don't feel the males sold as well as the females, relatively speaking, because that's just the nature of "fashion-dolls," the males are not popu;ar. So, the good thing is that at least CL males were safe from being copied. That would probably be the one true downside to having a lot of people outside and inside BJD collectors know about this. The word can be easily spread nowadays, but sadly, there would probably be a lot of unwanted ears also receiving the message. I doubt there's enough interest within BJD collectors, or people who consider themselves that, don't seem to favor tinier mature dolls. I personally loved the size and proportions of the Chic Lines, but others seem to find the smaller the dolls, the more Barbie like they are and that seems to be taken in a quite negative way, which puts off a lot of BJD people (or so it seems). Which is probably why Chic Line didn't do well also, they were too tiny for most BJD collectors, and not for the target audience Fairyland usually delivers to.

It would be silly to assume things at this point. Take all this with two grains of salt, I am an old fart and I collect only what I love. I don't like shoving my personal ideals down anyone's throat, which ever those ideals might be and I do enjoy smaller dolls than larger ones. That's just a personal preference, and nothing more as well as just my views on what I have read/heard from other people who collect BJD and what seems popular. Not just now, but always, not that I keep up with trends. However, illegal copies are not necessarily targeted towards anyone in particular, they pretty much appeal to anyone who is willing to purchase things they want but not pay what they actually cost. Just my two cents, and ramblings from an old fart, who shouldn't be replying to thing on the internet at 2AM. Take it all as just some random opinion on the internet, and not to heart! (:

 

OK, well, I've tried to make all the noise I can. I've posted on my Insta and Tumblr accounts, and I created a news post here.
But I have little accounts with small audiences. If y'all will make some noise, maybe we can convince Fairyland that there's a sufficient "public outcry" for these dolls.
I am stressing that Fairyland needs dedicated customers. Since BJDs are so expensive, I know collectors sometimes have a bad habit of saying that they want to buy a doll, but not actually purchasing when the time comes.
Honestly, I think Fairyland should consider some kind of Kickstarter/other fundraising campaign to see who is willing to put their money where their mouth is - but that's just me.

 

I've done my part and contacted them about chicline. I would die for a chicline Chloe or a boy. I just recently asked them to re-release the dragon Fairyline legs too (if you would also like them, please say something), so I hope they find me very wanting and annoying lol! Fairyland seems to listen when lots of people want something, so I'm hoping it works with the Chicline. They're such cool dolls.

A kickstarter sounds like a good idea honestly. That would allow them to have the funds and not worry about people backing out.

I told Fairyland I specifically would like chloe or a boy. I love boys and the concept of the chicline boys is such a rare thing to find in the hobby. I also threw in there that I adore Fairyland and have for many many years, but I wish they would go back a little to the old color schemes they used to have, other lines, fantasy parts etc. I fell in love with FL for their neat concepts (puki, CL, etc) and the fantasy world they created and it's honestly been pretty unimaginative for a few years now and just like... 2 sizes mostly. Don't get me wrong, I love it all, but it's exciting to see people still wanting the more unique lines they had like CL

 

So my news post is getting some views. I also emailed Denver Doll, and I sent my Insta post to the BJD Sales accounts. I used all the tags, but Insta's tags are broken, so...
Man, I hope this works. I want a doll AND one of those gorgeous outfits.

One last request for the group: in the event that Fairyland tells alllll of us no (I suspect this will not happen, but just in case), let me know what you would like to see.

If Fairyland won't remake these dolls, I will bloody well commission someone to make a hybrid that will work with this head. I have already saved several 3D modelers' names. And I DO have a head adaptor that I'm going to try to remake in Blender.

But GOOD LUCK finding an existing body to hybrid. Here's a partial list of what I've tried and discarded:
2D Doll MSD SY body - too big (even though the measurements say it's perfect snarl grumble RAAAAH )
Dream Valley B4-19 - too tall
Dollpamm Skinny(F01) body - neck is too thick, and body is too short
Ficondoll - actually almost perfect, but (1) off topic, (2) sculpting is meh for the price, and (3) no boys
Doll Chateau kids body - WAY too tall
Most standard MSD bodies (Aimerai, Dreaming Doll, Little Monica, Doll Leaves, Resinsoul...) - too big
Iplehouse FID and Raccoondoll fashion-sized bodies - too big
Dollshe (pre-ban) fashion size 26F and 16F - shoulders are too broad
DFH 1/5 Xiao Chan (girl) body - too thick and too young
Unoa Chibi - ditto

Oh, and 1/6 mature minis are too small:
Granado Embody/30 cm
Depths Doll Latimeria human body

Last edit: Dream Valley's newest Dragon Rider Lucia 1/6 scale mature mini would be absolutely perfect if they would just make her at 150 percent of her current size. I already begged. DV said no.

 

Oh man, you actually did it! Thanks, @MaleficentMrsofEvil! I'm not active on social media, unfortunately. I only use the BJD sub-reddit occasionally and was thinking that @Enzyme might be right. Some people on there are also on the counterfeit related sub, so that made me wary of the idea. I don't wanna cause any damage to to FL.

 

@MaleficentMrsofEvil, oh I would like to see the head on dollpamm and dfh 1/5 body please. If possible with wig but no clothing. If it's not too much inconvenience for you, I'd be very greatful

Understood, @idrisfynn - and my apologies. That was not the intent. I'm trying to create the "popular outcry" that Fairyland needs. If anyone expresses interest, I am asking them to contact Fairyland directly.

Oh, and if you're referring to my commission comment - I'm just looking for ideas of what people would like to see. I would direct anyone interested in purchasing to the 3D modeler.

 

Update #2: Denver Doll replied to my email. They are going to ask Fairyland about possible sculpts and estimated prices.

In my email, I asked Denver Doll if they would be willing to post some type of announcement on their website or social media asking collectors to contact Fairyland (NOT ME) to request a Chic Line reboot.

Please note I am profoundly uninterested in trying to organize a GO, and as the mod pointed out, this is not the correct place to do that.

 

Denver Doll replied to me also. As they are a Fairyland dealer, I think they would be in an excellent position to host a special order.

 

Too bad there are no European dealers , but it's good to see a dealer getting involved.

 

I took a few pics of my Ineffa on a Dollpamm Skinny body. It fits nicely, but I don't have the neck piece to keep her head on so her head just sits on top of the neck.

I like how the body looks with her head, I just personally wish the arms were a little bit longer.

"We are currently receiving few requests about the relaunch of Chic Line but as the mould that we used last time needs to be created from a complete scratch and take time out from our regular processing schedule, we will need some time to discuss internally. "

 

The response I got from Denver Doll included this:

They may have made an early guess and then looked into the costs more carefully when Denver Doll asked about it. At least they are aware that people are interested. Perhaps they will design new dolls that are similar.

 

Likely due to the fact molds can product at most 50 casts before failing/losing significant detail.
So 50 orders per size to justify the creation of a single mold (50 of one bust type, 50 of one faceplate, etc)
But the profits from selling those 50 pieces would not cover the cost of remaking masters, so they'd need many more sales to cover the cost.

I would love if they made new, similar dolls as Nancy said - I really want a male companion for my Ineffa - but my heart cannot taking the disappointment so I don't get my hopes up
