Fairyland ChicLine 40cm Discussion Part 4

Oct 8, 2013

    1. @petiteballerine oh lord, it's been so long I'm not sure I completely remember (especially since I rarely take it off him). So to help, I'm trying to find a photo which shows it better than I can explain it!

It's kind of "back to front" almost. The gold band goes around the back of the neck (with the necklace part in front of the neck), then under his arms and fits around his back. The cape then hangs from the back. The front of the cape goes across his chest with all the jewellery. I can't honestly remember exactly how I got it on him, but I have this sneaking suspicion it wasn't easy. If the photo doesn't help, I can always take more reference shots for you to see if we can help you get it on. The hardest thing I found was getting his Anubis head and white Pharaoh crown on at the same time.

Interesting - I have never really had a problem with my boy, and I purchased him new from Fairyland when he was released. What sort of issues do you get with his hips? The Chicline boys can be a little difficult when it comes to their hips and legs, mine always needs his thighs adjusted so he would stand properly. His legs can get kicky and all the rest of it.

      • x 1
    2. @TeaPartyRevolution - he was dropped & perhaps broken in transit or maybe wasn't put together properly by CP. legs work. chest & arms work.
waist out of place. won't move. head flew off his neck. was off the doll when it arrived. neck won't bend. headcap keeps falling off.
CP said the inner resin shaft that holds the elastic must be cracked & elastic snagged. but I've pulled it open & don't see anything obvious. they were unhelpful.
never ordered direct from FL again.

I see how the outfit should fit, (googled a lot of pics) but can't get that last gold band over his head. It is possible it's made wrong. my Chloe Elf 65cm with the pink dress and pearls was exactly like this in that it was too short from neck to chest. I had to change it, add lace, move strings of pearls. because FL refused to exchange it.
ah, well.....I don't want to cut the braiding. that stuff falls apart easily. if only it would stretch that 1/2 cm.
thanks for the extra pic. these guys are gorgeous.

yes, the Anubis head and crown is a bit of a juggling act. one of my other guys is wearing it. I have three Anubis heads in different colors. so lots of doggies in Egyptian style clothing.

      :kitty2

    3. That doesn't sound like Fairyland - usually they're pretty good about repairs, unless they think you did something to the doll and aren't telling the truth. But I had a dodgy hand sent out with one of my LTFs once - it had a casting flaw in it. Not only did they replace the pair, when the replacement pair came and they didn't fit, they sent me out a replacement wrist and hand to make sure that it did fit the final time.

With significant issues like that, regardless, it's strange that Fairyland wouldn't help. My most NS Ital has the head popping off issue, his head doesn't really move much and with the slightest provocation it will simply fly off. I agree, it is a complete pain in the neck.

Not sure about the waist issues - that's strange, none of my boys (I have 4) have issues with their waists. Most of them just have the swiveling thighs problems, and that can be simple, although annoying to re-adjust every time. My El is a poser and loves swiveling his thigh joints every which way (and he can disconnect his knees anytime he likes!)

The neck does sound like an elastic issue, though I'm not really sure how you could fix it, since the Chiclines are notoriously odious to unstring.

As for the cape, my gold braid part seemed to be a little more like elastic. Maybe you just got unlucky and it won't go over his head. I doubt I did anything special to get it on him in the end. My boy hasn't worn his Anubis head or Pharaoh hat for a long time, they currently reside in my resin box.

I'm sorry I wasn't able to help much! I wish I could give you a magical idea, but I can't honestly think of one!

    4. @TeaPartyRevolution - well that would explain my issue with the cloak. no stretch to my gold trim at all. thanks for that info.
the waist doesn't sit straight up. he sort of sticks his bottom out a bit all the time. FL thought he was damaged in shipping. I think so too, but the head is probably a quality control mistake.

I don't know why they wouldn't pay for me shipping just him (not all the extras) back for a new torso or repair.
so I only bought one other Cerberus Project doll - through a dealer.
CP were my first bjds in 2004: Elf El with extra vamp head & Elf Lishe with sleeping and vamp heads. + lots of hands. I love them.
I have more Cerberus Project dolls than any other company. but only the chics and 60-65cm sizes.

maybe it's time to take some group photos of my CP/Fairyland family.

      :kitty2

    5. @petiteballerine well, at least they have recognised there is a problem, but i still find it strange that they're seemingly unwilling to something about it, especially since they recognise he was damaged in shipping!
Oh well, perhaps it was a bad time for them at that point. I do remember one time they said that people used to ask them for replacement parts for recasts etc, so perhaps you got the wrong end of something they'd put in place for that.

Oh yes, my collection is most likely over 95% CP, it's much easier to count which of my dolls aren't CP than are. Collection photos are always fun - my first doll wasn't a CP, but my first couple of heads were, and my second, third, fourth... fifth... etc etc. I have all the sizes except LTF baby and Puki, and I don't own any of the brand new iterations - the Fairyline in either size. I'm a collector of Lishe and BA particularly, so my collection is overwhelmingly dominated by them (and El), as are the Chiclines and 65s I have. (I only have BA/Ital in 65). It's been years since I took a photo of my CP collection, I last did one for the 10 year Delf Lishe anniversary when Fairyland asked for group shots. That has been quite a long time ago now. (I think it's Fairyland's 10th anniversary this year)

    6. Thanks for the compliments, guys!! :aheartbea Love the two Fabilis! That limited tan is just so beautiful!
@petiteballerine So sorry to hear about the problems you have had with your Fabilis. :(

    7. Hello everyone! I recently got two Chicline girls off the MP and I am in LOVE! The size, those little faces, UGH, so gorgeous! I have a Lishe and a Ino SP girl. I also just put a WS Rou on layaway, also from the MP. XD;; I think I'm addicted to this size.

I'm a little bothered by the trouble you had with FL, petiteballerine! D: That sounds terrible!

    8. @Estvin She is such a beauty! Love that outfit!

    9. Been a while since I've been on DoA, thought I'd pop in and share Chie. Quite excited that recently I started working on some fantasy legs for her as well :) Hope they go well so I can share them with everyone.

    10. Kanako and Chie are so beautiful!

    11. Chie's wig is just spectacularly nice, @saharali! It's always so nice to see a smaller-headed doll with an in-scale wig. :)

    12. beautiful chics!
true about the wigs. my chiclines taught me wig-making. :whee: and my fashion sized Dollshe boys and FID men and women thank them for it.

      .

    13. @JessiFlakes @Gallye @petiteballerine Thank you dears
The wig is by Frappzilla actually! I still struggle a bit with short wigs in this scale, need more practise x) But Frapps wig fit so nicely and I love it.

    14. This, completely!

    15. I decided to try Liam in a long wig.:kitty2 Not sure yet. I don't normally go for long hair on men, but this is better than his last wig. I have a long alpaca wig I am making, so once that is done I will try it on him. :) More and more...synthetic wigs for tinies bug me. They just don't look as realistic. I am getting picky. lol

    16. @redmaiko oh, he looks fabulous! I agree about the synthetic wigs for tiny heads not looking the best. I too have started making my own wigs.

I still have my Ryu. I've had him since 2014 (bought secondhand). I finally decided on his look, so I'm making his wig right now. I love my guy, but he has been so frustrating to find clothing, shoes, wigs, eyes. He's been bald and naked for three years!

    17. That wig does look nice. Wigs fro small heads are difficult. Mohair and custom made is best!

    18. @nancy_schroeder_ca Thank you!
@kurogane Thank you! Oh goodness!! At least he is still nice looking without! :wiggle Liam is wearing TTYA slim jeans if you are looking for some. It has definitely taken a few years to amass some clothing that looks nice on these guys. At least they aren't too different in size from Minifee boys...but nice in-scale stuff that doesn't have massive buttons or collars can be hard to come by!

    19. Agreeing on the TTYA slim jeans! Two of my Chicline boys are wearing those right now. :)

    20. I was looking at TTYA and their are several styles and sizes, MSD or Unoa. Which ones fit?

    21. When in doubt, I'd say to lean towards Unoa - the jeans I bought were billed as 'MSD & Unoa' and usually used the word 'slim' or 'skinny' in the description.

    22. He looks great!

And yes on the wigs. As others have said, these little heads to need a hard cap wig. They were the reason I started making them.

And yes also on the clothes. My Rou is still naked, bar a pair of boxers to cover his modesty. I need some Victorian clothes for him, but might get a pair of jeans, just so he has something to where. Those look great.

    23. Thanks everyone!
The ones I got just say MSD Washing Slim Jean in the title. They look like skinny jeans on larger MSD's, but a regular men's jean fit on Chiclines.

    24. [IMG]

Just dumping some Chie love~ I made a wig for my azone doll but it looks funny on her ;0; so of course, Chie took it.

    25. She is really lovely...cute with the pink hair too :)

    26. [IMG]

Sharing a photo of Chie :eusa_pray Thread is very quiet lately.

    27. She is lovely.

Yes, it has been quiet. What is everyone doing with their mini masterpieces? Me, I am still trying to find a frock coat for my Rou, all these years on. Aaaaargggh!

    28. Iโ€™m still looking for clothes for my Rou. Well, obviously not too seriously as itโ€™s not rocket science. I need to re read the what fits thread.

    29. Tonner Tyler jackets & coats work well if you have a stash to pick through.

e.g. Montana getaway sweater coat (& horse) cablestitch sweater.
      peacoat.
but very fitted ones are too small in the upper arms.

    30. Mine are recovering from Halloween. I thought I had taken some good pictures of them, but I can't seem to find them. Here's one someone else took of them at a meet. I found a fun little Triad Zorro action figure mask that fits them.

    31. It's so nice to see some pics and posts! I got a chicline El in a trade last year..... I know he will require a bit of work since he will need a hand-made wig and all custom clothes.... good thing dolls have patience.

    32. White Rabbit in a Tyler shirt with sandals by a company that sold them in a plastic 'store front' box. each pair of shoes has its own shoebox. yo msd size.
wig, dorag, pants, belt, faceup and body painting by me.

I have six Chics. they're such fun!

    33. @petiteballerine wow, six! Your guy looks so sharp! Thank you for the clothing tips. I love my poor guy, but three years and no true outfit (or face up, but he isnโ€™t the only one). He will be my #1 project in the new year.

    34. @saharali Chie looks so lovely in lavender!!
@MadamMauMau Maybe NatZayShop can make one? She is making a leather jacket for my mini Saint (come on shipping notice!). So many msd clothes use oversize prints and buttons, but I love that her stuff actually seems in scale.
      @petiteballerine Those sandals are perfect!
@brighnasa I had to snap a pic of your crew! The mask is awesome!
Love how this thread came to life! Hooray for thread subscription or I would miss out. I am finishing up the faceups on my Ena. I have just another few layers of sealant and gloss left. I can't wait to get her back together, but here is a quick photo of Alex in the last light today.

    35. I love my two Chiclines but I really want to repaint their faces and paint the Ino sleeping face plate I have too. Maybe this summer. Their posing is fantastic, I really like their bodies.

Great to see new photos here. @saharali your girl looks so pretty in her lavender wig. Thanks @brighnasa for the photo of the Chiclines at the meet too.

    36. She is exactly the one I have been considering. I had such a to-do with the last custom, that I am holding back a little on it, though. I did get the work in the end, so perhaps I should just suck it up and be prepared to chase and insist on tracking numbers that actually work. Why is all of this so difficult?

Great pictures. Wonderful to see this thread revived.

    37. [IMG]

I've been working on a pair of heels specifically for our girls, slow going bit hey.
Somehow, it's making me realise I want a boyfriend for my girl as well ;-; I need a Rou in my life.

    38. Well, I can say that the TTYA sizes are confusing. I bought a msd white tank top and a pair of msd pants. They both said msd, but there was no mention of โ€˜slimโ€™ or unoa in the description. I made sure as these were for a regular msd. Well, the shirt and pants are so small they fit my Rou. Totally frustrating! At least my guy finally has clothes that fit.

    39. @saharali They look fantastic so far!!
@kurogane You got that right! I am lucky I have big (dollshe) and small (chicline) msds. If it doesn't fit one, it usually fits the other. The MSD knit basic MTM is correct in size description at least. My chiclines swim in it, but it works on the larger msds.

    40. @redmaiko that is good to know! Iโ€™m going to write this down. Clothes shopping is getting more complicated, but I do love the diversity and size options.

    41. Whoa! Long time no posts! Waking up the thread with my Ena. She has thrown a bit of a wrench in my character plans. :dohShe might become my witch instead of Chloe. Now if only I can figure out her name!

    42. She looks like a sweet witch! How about Glinda after the Wizard of Oz good witch.

    43. she does look very Glinda, at least with that gorgeous hair. <3

    44. @redmaiko she looks gorgeous! Makes me wish my girl was tanned ;v; Can I ask what eyes shes wearing?

    45. @redmaiko I must agree she is beautiful! Also, those eyes are stunning. What size are they and where did you find them? I've a Chicline El fella in the box.... I just don't know what to do with him. He sure is cool, I like looking at all of the pics and I'm trying to think up a plan for him but have no idea where to start.

    46. @nancy_schroeder_ca @petiteballerine Thank you, both! Her character can be sweet, but she has a saucy side too. That is if she takes that character, lol. She will tell me eventually once I play with her more. ;) I think it was the hair that made me go "Welp, I am doomed, she is changing." :XD:
@saharali @mollym Thank you!! She is wearing a pair of 6mm urethane eyes from MehiArt on Etsy. I have a pair of pink 6mm oscar doll that I like in her too.
Mollym Yay El! Sometimes these dolls of ours take time to figure out. I look forward to seeing what you do with him.:)

    47. @redmaiko love her wig - where did you get it?

    48. @TeaPartyRevolution It's a soy wig from Frappzilla. I took a chance and got a couple of Momonita size wigs and they fit my chiclines beautifully.<3

      • x 1
    49. @redmaiko nice to know! Have always struggled finding good wigs that fit!

    50. Thanks for the wig and eye info. I think that's part of the reason my poor little fella is still in his box. I get him out here and there, decide he's really cool but then get to thinking about how I have absolutely nothing for him. He did come with eyes, so at least he can see. I'll make it a goal to get to work making him some clothes and shoes this summer. Until then, thanks for any and all information that's so valuable. I'd love to see more owner pics. :D

    51. She's stunning @redmaiko I noticed her on Flickr. Love the skintone, face up and hair!

    52. Ahhh I'm getting a chicline for myself, I'm so sad they're not more common in the community, rarely seeing one picture or so ;_;

    53. White Rabbit and his partner Alyx in a playful mood after swimming at the lake.
They don't look happy to have been surprised by a camera!

    54. Alyx is beautiful! White Rabbit is a lucky guy!

    55. I bought a Chicline Chloe, hope she'll be with me soon!! In the meantime I am shopping for shoes and clothes. I have been doing research in the big fashion topic right here on DoA which has been super helpful, but I'm still wondering... Will tight jeans made for Minifee fit Chicline..? I'm having trouble finding a nice pair of skinny jeans...

    56. They... should. I can't say it would be a perfect fit, but in general, Chiclines seem to be able to wear clothes made for Unoa and Minifee.

I've had a reasonable amount of luck with TTYA pants and jeans in the Unoa size:
      MSD. UNOA - PANTS&SKIRT

    57. Thanks! :D I'll check them out.

    58. Honestly, most if not all of the BOTTOMS i've gotten for Minifee are too big for my chicline girl. Things like skin tight leggings even are still baggy on them.
I tend to get a pair, and modify them, so if you're able to do that it might be an option.
