Exhibitions in Europe

Oct 7, 2020

    1. Dear all! I would like to ask you about bjd dolls exhibitions in Europe. The most big and popular.
I am new here and want to visit one in Germany, France, Belgium or Holland. Thanks a lot for your help in advance!

    2. I know of Ldoll, in Lyon, every two years, which is a pretty big two day event. I went last time & it was great: would have gone this year if covid hadn’t ruined everything for everyone. If you’d consider it, there’s also one in Italy... I can find a link if you like.

    3. Wasn't it announced that the recent Ldoll is the last one?

    4. Thanx a lot. Yes, please write me the link. From Germany its not so far away.
Maybe do you know some in germany for bjd dolls?

    5. Germany is pretty much dead when it comes to BJD related things. Both community and bigger events alike.
I know there was always a general doll and teddy bear convention, but as a BJD collector you won't find much there at all.

I'd say the biggest and best one is probably the one in Moscow (International Doll Salon). It's for all kinds of dolls, but BJDs are there as well.
Otherwise, the mentioned LDoll was mostly for BJDs but is now on its last run.
      Little Dolls in Strasbourg maybe?

Generally it seems to be that either classic dolls or fashion dolls (like Blythe and Pullip) got their regular European get together, but for BJDs you are out of luck. And even then they are often mixed in with other dolls.

    6. LDoll is not cancelled as far as i know. If they will have another festival next year I'd want to go. This year I'm too scared.

In the Netherlands there was Epic Doll Fair for bjd (but Pullip is also welcome). It isn't super big but it was nice. It's postponed next year though.

They were planning on organising a new doll con in the Netherlands, but it was postponed as well:

    7. Belló,
in Germany there is the event - Internationaler Puppenfrühling in Münster - usually in April. Unfortunately this year was canceled due to the pandemic.

    8. Ldoll has formally released a statement that this is indeed the final year it will be held. The convention center is being torn down and they will not be seeking a new venue. While this years event has not been canceled, there will be no more Ldoll.

    9. We've got quite a few events in Spain across the year, but most are centered on Blythe and similar sized fashion dolls (their number seem to be reducing lately tho).

I'm a little biased, but I'd say Dolly Day is the one who has a bigger BJD presence (and has been running for 4 editions already) LINK

Others that come to mind are:

Jointed Hearts in northen EU LINK

    10. I second Jointed Hearts. It's small, but very nice!
So is the Danish convention DollConDK
Both tend to use english for everything important, so don't worry about the language barrier.
