If you were someone who practiced sculpting for a while, I would have still been impressed and thought it looked nice, but considering this is your first try at sculpting and you just sort of did it, I am amazed. He looks great.
holy crap! that has got to be one of the single coolest things I've seen here on DOA! I can't wait to see how you paint him!!! that must have taken you ages to complete to this stage.
Hey, I have been considering making a snake body for a doll of mine. Does your doll have a lot of side to side movement?
the photo's show a lot of movement that he's capable of. Side by side seems fine since his tail can literally circle around ^^ good luck with your snake
Hi again, I think I commented somewhere earlier, but since I'm in the middle of my own project I thought to check your awesome work out again to see how you worked out the joints. I got a question about the stringing. Did you string each joint separatly? From Joint to Joint? Or is it one String going through? If so Tail separatly from the remaining body or from neck to tail-tip? Thanks for you aid -^_^-
it's one string all the way though - from his neck hook to the last tail part. It's like stinging a leg onto a bjd. Although another string/hooks joining the fins/feathered tail part
Thanks for the quick answer! I thought so, but better save than sorry, since you already prooved you can make it work! I'll be sure to post my boy once he's done (probably not before summer ^^°) and also link back to your thread! I learned lots from it!
After seeing his glory, I decided to try and make a mer-tail for my MNF Chloe! The one I'm making is made of La-Doll clay (air dry, reactivated with water...so I can't take it in water XD!)that I had lying around and it's just a predecessor to the one I'm gonna put all my time and work into. It definitely doesn't look as good as yours, but I am amazed at how easy it was to make! It holds a pose XD! Thanks for inspiring me !
Wow his tail looks absolutely gorgeous! All the little details, the scales...amazing how much work this was and how awesome it looks!
I made this with practically zero sculpting experience so just try and see what you can do (no joke I spent so much on tools/clay >3<)
That looks amazing! You might say you had no sculping abilities, but it looks very well made anyway! It reminds me of the Pokemon Gyarados, if you're familiar with it The clothes fit a merman/dragon really well too !
Gosh this makes me want to make a tail for my dragon boy. This just looks so much fun! A time consuming and hard fun but a fun none the less!
I- WOW! This is AMAZING! I can't believe this is your first time sculpting! The detail, the jewels the feathered tail, it's all so cool! I'm really interested in how you did the jointing of the tail. If it's not too much trouble, I'd really like to see how you sculpted the inside and how the stringing works.
This is such a stunning tail piece. ♥ You've done a ton of work here, and it really shows the love you put into it!
Looking at all the details, you have put so much effort into it! AMAZING! That really is incredible! And for such a big boy! This is really a project of epic proportions!
I guess I'm not alone in having mermaid tails end in wings! XD I did an art trade several months ago on DA and couldn't resist including my wing addiction by replacing her mermaid fins with them. I can't wait to see the next progress report!
