Wow Mirrin, she is almost ethereal. Congrats! What a beauty. What body is she on? Will you blush her amazing hands? I have an old Limhwa Human and adore her body too.

I'm going to have to blush the hands! They're made to be showcased. I just need to find where all my non-work related art supplies went to. I just bought a new house recently and it's been a pain to figure out where some of the stuff got to. I actually bought her tights when I knew I had some that were essentially the same because I couldn't for the life of me find them.

 

Ooh, moving can be hell. Some things always vanish during that ordeal, it should be investigated by the Myth Busters one day or something Hope you'll find your supplies, though!

Then she's on the same body as my girl. I think it's one of the most feminine and attractive bodies out there, although posing her can be tricky. She lounges beautifully, though I recently sueded her and that helped a lot.

 

Lol, I appreciate the commiseration. I'm off work for the holidays so I might get the chance to start digging through boxes in the basement to see what I can find. If I have to pick up new pastels and spray, I guess it is what it is. At least I found my tiny paintbrushes recently!

I agree on the body. It's so delicate and feminine. There was a lot of thought that went into making them. It's definitely up there for pretty bodies I've seen.
Sueding might be something I need to look into. I've managed to go all these years without, but it might be time! Did you use hot glue, e6000, or any of those silicone products to do it?
Also, weird question, @Mandagore, but does your Limhwa look nice with your Zaoll? I kinda was thinking I'd reshell her sister character into a Zaoll, but I know they're tiny gals.

 

Not a weird question at all, @Mirrin, since I think Zaoll and Limhwa would make a great match stylewise!^^ But, you guessed I had a but coming, right, but what I can tell you right off the top of my head, Zaoll's head and features are smaller than Limhwa's. Zaoll wears 7/8" wigs, Limhwas go more in the 8/9 category. So that might be something to be prepared for. There is also a height difference of 5cm/ 2", but that might go well with the little sister theme? I'm still away from home for my xmas holidays or I could supply a picture if you need it...

As for sueding, I'm an old school woman^^ I tried hot glue and grew tired of it coming off again all the time, e6000 is likely a permanent solution which I would prefer it not to be, and I haven't tried liquid silicone yet. Those silicone discs keep disappearing into the stringing holes on my dolls. I keep to good old pliver sueding and can only say good things about it. The worst thing that happens is that the pieces can come off in places after years of joint movement since they're only held on by school glue, but that is a 60 seconds fix and they stick again. There is a great tutorial on here about making masking tape patterns for the pliver pieces that fit your doll's joint exactly, and it's really easy and quick to do. This has made a big difference to me in picking up a doll often or not at all... bad posability can be off-putting, at least to me^^

 

Thank you, @Mandagore! I was going for a little sister so that just may work. You don't need to go through the trouble of a picture, you're opinion alone is super helpful.
Also, thank you for the advice. I'll look into the pliver option. I'm not the biggest stickler for good possibility (though I've been a little spoiled by dolls like my Spiritdoll with crazy possibility), but it'd be nice to make it easier for her to sit at the very least.

Oh man, tell me about it! I have a Nina on the EOS body, and boy is that thing janky... I'm seriously considering just hybriding my girl with a different company body, even if the EOS Limhwa one is oh so pretty...

 

You mean, the newer body is *still* a wonky poser? I feel you...

How do you order from Limwha/eosdolls? I don't think junkyspot is their dealer anymore because on the EOS website it says they are looking for a new dealer.

 

you have to email them. I never ordered from them, but did ask them a few questions in the past and they are usually quick to reply

 

Yes, I emailed Junkyspot some time ago and they said they were not able to meet some minimum order requirements so couldn't be a Limhwa dealer any more.

I've ordered from Limhwa directly via email and it was very easy. They sent me a text form to fill out and I paid by bank transfer. The doll arrived in about two months if I remember correctly.

I love Limhwa dolls and the company is trustworthy, I highly recommend. Best of luck

 

@blackdahlia: To add to the info - in 2018 I ordered per email and was offered paypal payment as well. She shipped out the doll after I think 2-3 months, although it was in tan skin. Everything went real well.

 

Edit: It turns out... I hadn't sent the email at all. And then I put .com when I did send it. And then got it right at last and have now officially placed an order!

I had originally posted asking if anyone could double-check Limhwa's email address for ordering (because I hadn't heard back about my order). I then edited it a few minutes later when I realised I hadn't even place the order, because I'd gotten the email address wrong.

I'm super excited now though - I'm going to go ahead and order my half-elf girl, I received a response from Limhwa yesterday!

I had an American Girl doll as a child (she might still be somewhere in my parent's house actually... hard to say), but to me, Limhwa's tan Half-Elf looks just like my Aleasha all grown up! I'm super excited to have her, and I can't wait to share pictures!

Oh you fortunate one, you will get another Limhwa goddess! My sister has a Half-Elf, at first in French resin, but that one turned lemon yellow very soon. Now she has her in normal urethane and that girl is ever so gorgeous. The Half-Elf just completely changes with every face up I see on her. What skin color are you ordering?
My dream doll always was the Limhwa Human girl and a couple years ago I got her. She had been long retired. I felt very fortunate that day as well!^^

 

I'm going for a tan Half-Elf girl! I was inspired by the pics of the beautiful one in this thread. I knew I wanted a Limhwa girl, but I hadn't really picked out which one until I saw the gorgeous girl further up. Then I was like 'HER - that's who I want!' I'm very excited - although it will take me a little longer to get my Aleasha than I expected.

Limhwa very kindly told me that she's working on a new face and is having to do the casting by herself, so at this time layaway is not available. Thus, I'm going to have to wait a little bit and save up so that I can place the order all at once. It makes me a little sad but we're doing house improvements that I absolutely have to get done so money is a touch tighter than usual. I'll keep hanging out in here and I'll share her as soon as I get her!

 

@Teruchan, may time speed up for you!^^ I think receiving her will make up for having to wait a little longer for the lady.
If you don't mind me asking, did Mme Limhwa say if she was working on a girl or a boy, Sd or MSD sized? How exciting, thank you for sharing the news.

Hello, I know this is the thread for the "big guys" but the Limwha Mono thread has been dead for a very long time. Maybe one of you can answer my questions having ordered from EOSdoll or from Junkyspot. I was wondering if anyone had noticed Mono popping up every know and again. You can not pre-order him from Junkyspot at all that I can tell.

From what I understand, if you order from EOSdoll directly, you send them an email? But I don't know if you can pre-order every doll or if she only produces certain ones.

Also, has anyone only ordered a head? Is that a possibility? Thank you!

 

@TheDoctor as far as I know, EOSdoll only offers full dolls.
And junkyspot is apparently no longer their business partner. JS seems to only be clearing out old stock.

You do have to order by email with eosdoll and they always been very good about about answering my questions I don’t think they have set preorder times, but if they do they’ll let you know!

@TheDoctor To add to this, no she does not produce all of the dolls she has ever made anymore. But I ordered a Mono directly from her 1 1/2 years ago, payment was by Paypal and the doll was ready in a little over two months, everything went really well.

 

I got Avery a nice summery top back in January and realized I'd never even taken a picture of her in it. It's a Smartdoll sized one and it's a little tight in the shoulders, but it's cute. Also, I could and should totally fix this. I make real clothing for fake people for a living, but lord help me when it comes to personal sewing projects.

Hello again everyone! Today I ordered my tan half-elf girl! My Aleasha is coming home I'm so excited - she will be my last BJD purchase. After this, my collection is complete. I'll allow myself to reshell or completely remove characters, but I won't be adding any more, so she'll be quite special. I forgot that I also have to get the garage door fixed today and I don't know how much it's going to cost, but after a stressful week I figure Aleasha's worth it. I have the hair for her soon-to-be wig ready already lol.

Ah I did! I sent an email - waiting on a response from them, but last time she was very friendly and responded after a day or so. I'm just going through with the order this time around (I'm committed! lol)

 

@Teruchan Congrats! She's still been responding pretty quickly to me via email, so I hope your order goes quickly for you.

She did mention some trouble with the casting factory at the beginning of April, but no details other than that. She also said she's got a new 60cm face ready! I don't know if that means boy or girl? And she didn't say when. I can't wait!

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve taken pictures of Holly, my Nina. She recently got new eyes!

 

@IzabethS She's beautiful. I love her vibrant colors. The eyes seem nice but they do not show up so well on my monitor, are they blue/brown or something like it?

I emailed eosdoll at hanmail dot net last night and they responded within an hour. They said "From June 20th to June 26th, we will be taking orders."

So woo hoo! I will be ordering a To.L as fast as humanly possible on opening day.

I also asked if tan would be available and they said "Tanning can be withheld by a large price increase." I'm not exactly sure what that means. But I am going to attempt to order in tan. I'll report back here what happens, how much it might cost, etc., when I'm able to order in a couple weeks.

I'm so excited!

 

I'm ASSUMING they mean it's available but expensive.
I wish I spoke korean so I could understand where the phrasing/mistake comes from!

I need a tan body for my floating head. I don't think I'll be able to make it in this preorder period, but we'll see!

 

@sahoma I always write the email in English with my best machine assisted Korean translation under but they always reply in only English ^^; So I can't even put an original Korean text here for anyone else to translate. That would be really helpful.

 

I'm sorry to update that To.L will not be available to order after all. They just emailed me to apologized multiple times, that they read my inquiry incorrectly as To.M, but To.L is still discontinued. I'm so crushed.

 

That's quite disappointing for you. I think To.L had been discontinued for years at this point though? I don't think he ever made it to Eosdoll, technically.
but there's on the MP right now.

 

So sorry to hear that. I was excited to think there would be another tan To-L on the board, after he had been dicontinued for so long. The newer tan is very nice, too, mine still came in that carrot tan, though he mellowed out a little over the years. (One of the rare occasions to rejoice at the untimely decay of red pigments in resin...^^) I hope you will find another sculpt to love, or another way to get To-L

 

AH! I had - she'd said to try in June and here we are in June and I still haven't gone back to try - thanks for the reminder!

 

@sahoma Yes, but there was that single instance of the "To.L Come Back" sale and I've been helplessly hopeful ever since. I've been watching that lone sales thread for years ;;; I just really really dislike aged french resin and kept hoping I could get him in tan

@Mandagore I have been wondering how those odd batches of too-orange tan have fared over the years. I was always hopeful that the red would mellow out as you mentioned! How does yours look now?

I am still waffling over trying to order a tan To.M to steal his body ... because I did finally buy that French resin To.L that was on the marketplace. I've only been watching him for three years ^^; But I thought perhaps I could color match the head and put him on the tan To.M body. But then I know I would want a tan body for To.M as well ^^; Musical chairs bodies

T4124, thank you for sharing comparison photos of your Limhwa/EOS boys. I always knew Mano had a giant noggin, but flipping-heck, he's huge compared to the other two boys. I wish there was a way to shrink resin, the way vinyl can be shrunken. They are beautiful head sculpts nonetheless, I just prefer smaller headed-dolls, since I can't do squat about my personal human-proportions.

I at least wish my Mano didn't have a giant head, though I have slimmed his face a bit, and I'm tempted to reduce the height of his cranium, he's till too melon-headed for my taste. DX I was looking forward to Miss Jung Ji Youn updated body for To.M, but then she replied to a question I asked her on Flickr, that it would be a smaller body. So, my hopes of having my Mano not looking bobble headed on a Limhwa/EOS body crumbled to pieces.


I'm going to be modifying him again this year (I hope!), I always regretted not getting a second one, but I am a germaphobe and Miss Jung never sold heads separately (for me to justify getting another entire doll just for the head).

This is an older than dust (2018) photo of his, but I haven't taken any recently. I will try to mod him again before it gets hotter than h3ll here, but I'm older and lazier now. We'll see how that goes...

 

@T4124 Thank you for the comparison shots! I don't think I've seen something like this before and I find it very interesting. Also, congrats on getting the To.L head! But what a quandary. I think it is a good plan to try to colour match the head to To.M's body, it sounds doable - but I also understand you want to keep To.M intact.

As for my boy's carrot days - he has lost some of his yellow/orange tint, but he is still a tan with red undertones, as opposed to the cooler tan colours around. I found a picture I took upon his arrival in 2009, where he has an 2008 Iplehouse real skin hand in his lap, a Domuya tan skin doll on his right hand side and is holding hands with a Dollshe dark tan doll. I always found that this was the one picture that represented his colour the best, especially in contrast to the Dollshe tan. For comparison I include a quick and dirty recent pic of my To.L. Keep in mind hands and face are blushed, but the neck is not. I hope it shows up right on your monitor, on mine it looks quite correct^^

@Enzyme I am excited to hear your boy Mano's journey is still going on! I remember seeing him here over the years in his various manifestations. He's come quite a way.

 

@Enzyme Good luck with continuing the mod journey. I love your work on him tremendously. I suppose it's always possible that the creator will make a larger updated body in the future!

@Mandagore, thank you for your photos of your tanned Mano. I don't own any tanned resins myself, but I heard of the weird tanned resin shades Limwha had at some points. I believe some were due to her changing her casting company, but I don't recall seeing any actual photos of them. Yours looks lovely however, from what I can see on my monitor, nothing like a carrot nor orange at all. Thank you for your comments on my mod-journey, I hope I'm done soon, it's been too long. n__n

@Enzyme Yep, these were the times!^^ I remember a lot of owners were so disappointed in that tan which was sadly really quite carrot colored in person and not even remotely similar to any skin colour known to mankind (except for the worst kind of 90s spray tan perhaps). A lot of dolls were immediately re-sold at that time. The biggest problem was that Limhwa's tan had been quite different up to that point and people thought that was what they had ordered. I always thought it was sad. Limhwa never even recognised the issue, saying the colour was fine, but then, what could she have done about it? (And psht, but mine's a To.L And he has a giant noggin as well! )

@Mandagore, I didn't even notice the differences and should have been obvious, just by looking t the lips your guy is not a Mano! He's gorgeous nonetheless! Life is indeed always changing, even if some of us hoped it would stay still for just for a second. It's probably just my old-age. Lo!(:

 

@Enzyme Never mind. I myself had difficulties telling them apart at first, that is why I found T1424's comparison shot so interesting. It shows all the subtle differences, they all have their own character. Your Mano, of course has become his very own man meanwhile, he is truely OOAK. (Don't I know it. I'm not exactly young either )
