@Follow-the-Wind your Euna is amazing! lately, I visit this thread and lurk but all the photos of the past few pages are very inspiring! I've been stalking the marketplace since joining the hobby b/c I've long wanted a Nabee and Sooah. They come up for sale infrequently or the timing is bad. In the meantime I stay content with my Soah and her extra heads: Reminiscence and Smiling. Here is my tough cookie, Ginger.
@tenukihandcrafts your Ginger looks great! Love her costume. Soah was my very first BJD and she's still my favorite.
I realize this picture is potato quality but I still wanted to share my Lydias now that they both have bodies (for the moment) Rem. Lydia (on an Aquarius59 body) on the left was made a lot later than the Lydia on right who I think was some of the first batch because she had a mold defect that I've seen a couple times now. Her face makeup pretty much covers the oddities. I like them both for different reasons.
@vermaxen beautiful girls, and your photo is much better than potato. For some reason I'd never acquired Lydia, even though I really like the sculpt. I recently finally got one. Now I just need to give her a faceup.
@vermaxen @tenukihandcrafts so beautiful dolls Something from me... Tasha reminisce (on Dollstown 17yr body) Winter Tashan by Arengil Tajedinápravá, on Flickr
@vermaxen - your Lydia’s are lovely! @Arengil - I love the soft pic your REM Tasha. A few pages pack, there was talk about K, so I thought we needed a little K spam. Here’s mine, Kaneda.
@tenukihandcrafts Your K is so nice looking! Elfdoll boys are even less common than elfdoll girls. BTW, a quick pic of my Vivien! And I no longer have my Yuan, but I bought a Hazy in order to reshell her character. I hope to show her soon here! ^_^

@Xxluckyf8xx Oh well, I didn't know that. I thought only Rainman was the creator. I just focused on Rainy line.
DK was good friends with Rainman. I do not think she sculpted any of them, but she is the one who convinced him to make bjds and start Elfdoll. There would have been no Elfdoll without her. She ran the business side of things. In the end, she ended up with the rights to all the molds for all of the Elfdoll sculpts as part of the agreement when they parted ways, after Rachel was released. There is an Elfdoll profile on Instagram that I was last updated when she released Rachel, but I don’t know if anyone has been able to contact her or get a response since then. ☹️ I would also love it if someone knew how to communicate with her and see if she’s ever going to re-release those original Elfdoll sculpts.
Yeah! That’s kinda what I was hoping for. Rainman told me DK had the molds and I was hoping for some sort of re-release—I think a lot of people would be happy with one and it would do well! I’ve tried looking for some sort of contact info, but came up empty handed. I also considered asking Rainman in case he knew of her whereabouts but I wasn’t sure if that would upset him in any way.
Here is a link to the Elfdoll I Instagram profile that I think DK set up. https://instagram.com/elfdoll_inc?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== I don’t think Oka was still with them when they briefly reopened for Rachel’s release. As you can see, it has not been updated since then. ☹️
Ugh yeah I noticed the same thing and messaged a question on there a while ago. Was never seen or answered. Do you think Rainman would be upset if I asked him about a re-release?
I think Rainman has moved on he doesn’t have the rights to those molds anymore, and the last thing I saw was DK’s announcement several years ago that they had parted ways. It did not sound friendly. ☹️ I wish DK would get someone to reissue some of it original sculpts again. Some of the later ones are really sought after.
I didn't know all this about the old Elfdolls, it's very interesting! Such a moving thing to do between two people, the "friend" and the artist. It's sad if it was an unpleasant parting, and it's also sad in a way when the works aren't available anymore but for me personally, I think I'm more tired of false Limiteds in this hobby and endless re-releases than the inevitability that nothing is forever. Rainman has released really beautiful new works now and that makes me happy personally. But anyway I was actually dipping back in today to say how nice it's been seeing this thread is still active and you all post your beautiful dolls! I used to enjoy the Flickr Elfdoll Rainy owners pics back in my early days when I had some of mine. I think I will be able to join in again here soon. *fingers crossed*
Oh... No activity here yet this year. Rise up Elfdoll owners! Link I'm trying to get my Lydia repainted how I want... This effort is wiped already. It just had some problems I would keep losing sleep over, but I thought I'd try to take at least one cool photo before whatever comes next.
Here I am! Nice Lydia! What do you dislike in her faceup, @AlisonVonderland ? My Reminisce Soah is aging, she needs a slight blush on her body to match again her face... and I'd like to work on her second head again this year (an other reminisce Soah I have massacred, uh, I mean I have modded long ago).
@Follow-the-Wind What is your name for your Soah? She's lovely. The picture is perfect I love her in the natural environment. It's a little comfort still seeing you with some dolls from way back! My dolls are all aging too. A lot. My volks ns types are getting on towards looking somewhat tan now, not even yellow I kind of embrace it, but it's annoying when hybrids age differently, I have some problems like that around here. My girl is Omega. Anyway, ehhhh there were many things. Sometimes i just make really weird work when I'm in a bad frame of mind. That was the case. But also, I think when I repaint I'll just forego resin match blushing... I don't know if she will stay on this old budget hybrid body as long as the faceup could last if I do one I really like. Anyway it was problems with my technical execution and also uncertainty about exactly how I want the character to look right now even though I feel like I know her well.
I named her Walentyn. I don't know her exact age but I own her since, mmmm, 2014 maybe? Her second head is even older ( much more yellow and older headback attachment system). Thank you for the compliment! Oh it's hard when we don't really know what we want to do for one of our character. On what body is she? And what's her name? ( tan yellowed NS volks dolls? How old are they?) Anyway, for someone who doesn't know what you had in mind, she's lovely!
Ah thanks @Follow-the-Wind ! My Lydia is named Omega and I have a solid idea of her style, character, world, because she lives with a dystopian sci Fi narrative thing... But I had the doll character a long time. And I don't exactly want to paint this one too much like I painted her from 2011... But I'm not sure exactly how to update it so that it feels like her and also different. That's what I need to think on more maybe. This Lydia I have now is from the original 2006(?) release she's just using an old Domuya body which is more yellow and a bit darker than her maybe. Two parts which never would have matched. Ideally someday I might just get a great working body for her in the right color. I don't really care too much for now, and I often ruin my resin color matching in faceups these days because I have bad eyes, bad glasses, and bad work light. I just need to relax and paint a look on her that doesn't feel forced, enjoy the process and it will be fine. About the other topic almost all my dolls are ten years and older now. I lived in a room that's also too hot and humid 2.5 years now and it's just making them age even faster. So some dolls that were already yellow become even more aged, and that's how they start to look a little tan by comparison
Beautiful girls! @AlisonVonderland @Follow-the-Wind Here is Roux (Vivien) Roux II by Arengil Tajedinápravá, on Flickr
There seems to be a rare girl on eBay right now, DDE-exclusive LE20 Rainy Sibara (white skin Ryung) with her original papers, eyes and wig (and dress? Not sure if that came with her.)One of those dolls where I can’t find any of her original sales photos on the internet any more even though some announcement and discussion posts are kicking around (maybe there’s some on the wayback machine…) It’s always sad to think of how many once coveted doll releases now don’t have any of the original official sales photos around on the internet when you look, even though one would like to think that The Internet Is Forever. Well, if anyone’s been seeking this girl, here she is!
I'm in a bit of pickle! I have a (very very old) head which is quite yellowed and needs a body, and I'm trying to find a 60-ish cm girl body to put her on. DFH 58 girl would be perfect but they no longer do resin matching. So I think the best I can hope for is a sufficiently old Little Monica Harmony girl or Angell Studio girl (the bodies would need to be like 10+ years old I would imagine to have a chance to match). I'll probably put up a WTB on the forums soonish, but I guess I'm just here to whine a bit.
Oh I feel like you, I often ruined colors matching too! It's hard to achieve. Omega is still nice looking no matter her age! I've seen your new faceup and, as I said, I like it a lot. It suits her. Here I have taken a quick shot of Erika, my Vivien. It's the first time I took her out for a photo, even if it's only a simple portrait.
That makes me feel a bit better @Follow-the-Wind I often don't bother because when I think the color is right, because of pastel transparency vs. the resin color I'm matching to it doesn't always photograph consistently anyway. I didn't bother to correct at all on the second faceup and with my color choices otherwise it seems perfectly acceptable so it feels like, why bother? Erika looks awesome! Did you put her together recently? She has a great style! How many different Elfdoll sculpts do you have? I still remember myself looking over the website in oh 2011 or something just wishing I could have every Rainy girl. They are all so lovely.
@AlisonVonderland Yes true, why bother then? Thank you for my large girl! No, I completed her maybe three years ago, but she has no fitting clothes (here she is borrowing some of my Dollshe Amanda clothes, and they are slightly too big for her) so I show her nearly never. I have only three Elfdoll left : Vivien, Reminisce Soah (x2 heads, one is modded) and Euna. Oh, and a Hazy head I didn't manage to tame yet. I used to own Sian and Yuan, but I sold those two. Yes same here, I find them all lovely! And in the end, do you bought other elfdoll aside Omega?
@Follow-the-Wind Yeah I might vaguely remember all those you had before even! Sian was a cool sculpt. I once had eun-a for a while but other than that no, the only one I had was Lydia as the Omega character. I doubt I'll ever have another. Never say never of course but I can't imagine of much use for new characters any time soon. I hope you get some outfits especially for your girl! It's hard when they only borrow, especially for year! Still, she looks great
Hi! I'm here to confirm a rumor I remembered regarding Elfdoll's reopening in 2017. I remembered reading posts of DK not fulfilling orders of Rachel before she disappeared, is this true or is this a rumor?
From what I understand, DK Fulfilled all the orders, said they would be back. A bit later, DK put an announcement up on the website that she and Rainman had parted ways as business partners.. In exchange for her assuming all of the financial responsibility for Elfdoll, she got to keep the molds to the sculpts Rainman did with Elfdoll. The website closed and has not come back since. I do hope we will one day see some of those sculpts resurface.
I am hoping for this too. I wonder if it’s possible to bring the old sculpts back somehow if someone got in contact with DK.
I think several people have tried to get in touch with her. I have tried on Instagram, and even contacting the old Elfdoll PayPal email address. I hope she does come back and re-release the old sculpts. I am very glad to see Rainman continuing to sculpt bjds! But, I have a great affection for the style he sculpted in during the Elfdoll Years. And, back in the day, DK and Oka were the ones we communicated with at Elfdoll. DK Is the reason he is sculpting bjds at all. They were friends, and as I understand it, she Is a doll collector and is the one that urged him to do bjds.
Ahhh man so people have already tried? I’ve looked into it but wasn’t sure how I should go about contacting DK. I think I tried an old defunct email lol whoops
I don’t think it’s bad if people keep trying. Maybe yours will be the communication that finally makes it happen! I don’t know what went on between them, but I think being in business together puts a strain on any relationship. Maybe if there’s evidence of enough demand for the old sculpts, she might even decide to sell the molds to another company.
That’s a good idea too. I’m going to pm you. Maybe we can come up with a plan. I really want Pink but I know I’ll never get her 2nd hand. I need someone to make her again .
Pink was a limited edition Lovely. I think I've seen her come up on the secondhand market exactly once.
Heya! I'm looking into info on Elfdoll K for a possible hybrid with an off-topic vinyl body but I don't know enough about the sculpt measurements to know if it even is anywhere near possible at this point. However I have fallen in love with the expression and look of the face so I decided I'd like to learn more and see if it could be viable. Can any Elfdoll K owners here who are willing to take some measurements share info on: -The head circumference -The neck circumference for the head or the default body of the head -The face height? If at all possible. It's interesting reading back a little and seeing the history of this company since I know it is a much older one. I miss seeing this style in BJDs ngl, and having found the K sculpt has a very similar look to my own face from some angles, I would love to make it a mini-me even if it takes some work with a proper faceup and such, but it depends on the body type and whether the head will fit (hence the off topic vinyl body potential plan, if it works. I'm not even worrying about the resin/vinyl match at this point yet). I'd love to be able to make a photoshopped mockup of how the head I'm looking at would look on the body I have in mind but I don't know enough of the measurements to do so, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks so much!!! Edit: if anyone has pictures or has attempted putting an Elfdoll K on a female body, I would love to see, I realized after some more looking that the body I had in mind in the first place, stylistically does NOT work lol. But I am still curious about options.
@Cattya this is a really interesting idea! I hope you'll share the results. I love the K sculpt and never thought of making him into a female, but I can see where it would work. Head circumference: 20cm along the head cap line Neck circumference: 9.4cm Face height: Around 7cm up to the head cap line. This was a little hard to measure
@Alewife thank you!! I have seen a lot of people describe K as a really masculine sculpt so I'm not entirely sure if my idea will work out, I just happened to see a photo of one with a faceup that makes him look strikingly similar to my face/expression at some angles. I'm not sure about all angles, but if I got the head in hand I could probably experiment. I'll have to compare those measurements with the measurements of the dolls I currently have to see if the sculpt would even look good next to some of my other dolls, but I have mixed styles in my doll crew so I don't really mind if it's a little off. Someone on the BJD Discord also said he is similar in scale to the older CP Delf sculpts, so I can look into that as well... there is something about K's face that I really like in general so hopefully the sculpt will work out on some level, even if it doesn't suit the original body I had in mind.
