Elfdoll Rainy (Large) Discussion Part 3

I hope it will not affect the older sculpts much. Luts is still selling AN, Nara, and Ttori after all this time, so perhaps we will still see some of Rainman's older works return. I guess it all depends on who has the rights to sell the sculpts.

 

I hope DK has the rights and will re-issue them.

 

As far as i know Rainman, as told already, quitted the BJD work to focus onto Action Figure head sculpting. I know that were some heads that went manifactured and also shipped, such one of Dracula, but basing onto this disclaimer or note, whatever, seems that Rainman himself isn't reliable anymore and that Rainman Artwork and Artmaze both brands will be sold off..am i wrong, or i misunderstood the disclaimer?

 

I saw a notice on the "Rainman Artwork" site where he said he was going to start a new website. This was from 2017 sometime. The link didn't work, but it does seem as if he was planning to open his own store.

@$abbatha on rereading the disclaimer, I don't think she's saying that Rainman was unreliable (bad translation maybe?), but that he didn't want to deal with the Artmaze business (and the debts). DK seems to have bought Artmaze-- at least, it's given as the parent company on the new Elfdoll site.

Also, the new Lovely girl does seem to be the same sculpt as the one Rainman showed on Instagram in December 2016. So it must be the last sculpt he did for DK.

 

Elfdoll always was a branch of Artmaze or at least since 2009, my Bambu's box has Artmaze logo on it.

 

Spam that Bambu. I just sent mine out for a faceup, or I would spam mine. She is my favorite.

 

They are in their box. Yes, they ! I got the dreaming head with it so i had to find a body for it. XD I also have a third head (a dreaming) that has been unmaked-up 'cause i wanted to make a guy since beginning but it still is blanck and waiting.
They're still waiting for their wigs and clothes too.

 

Ah, I used to have both heads too. I regretted selling them, so I went and re-purchased a fullset girl from the MP recently. Bambu is easily my most favorite Elfdoll, and I have been lurking around here waiting for spam of her. D:

I just visited JunkySpot and was surprised to see Pandora still available on their Special Sale page!

 

Maybe they had a stock that's not yet over ? I remember their promo for my Bambu "so what if she looks like a corpse" when Elfdoll stopped brutally working with dealers in 2009.

 

Poor Pandora, won't anyone adopt her?

No good news from me unfortunately :
- still no answer on Elfdoll's Q&A board. Last message with an answer goes back to the end of January (and the answer is from the 5th of February). Two people posted after me and didn't get any answer.
- Artmaze's website doesn't exist anymore. Well, the one i got the announcement i mean. Now you arrive on Elfdoll's website when using Artmaze's URL.

- he/she could have let the questions on the board.
- Older questions about Elfdoll's models got answered.
- The erased question weren't all about Elfdoll sculpts. Mine was also about Elfdoll's futur as a BJD company.

So sorry but not sorry, i don't believe in just waiting a while anymore and i really hope no one buys anything since the and of 2017 as i doubt there's still someone working there. I just hope all previous order will be fulfill.

That being said, well written, i would love to be proved wrong and the company to come back healthy and safe to order from.

 

Hopefully it's just a technical glitch.

Since there was some memory-dredging about when Elfdoll stopped selling, does anyone remember when it was that they discontinued the Rainy males? I'd bought a number of heads then. It was like they were cleaning out closets, since I'd ordered two Mir heads - one white and one NS, and the NS one came with a white cap and the explanation they didn't have any more caps for him in NS!

 

They sold their remaining boy heads and bodies at the end of 2011. (I've been working on the wiki ) I got some odd things out of that too-- even more out of their very last sale! That was a total closet cleanout.

 

Are you still interested in Bambu spam if the Bambu is a gentleman? I went through a TON of male heads trying to shell that character until seeing a Bambu head blank. It was perfect! Now he is named Sean. I love him.

I haven't been to DOA in ages, but decided I'd come back for a little Elfdoll discussion and see what's up with the re-opening I'd head about (though it looks grim, from the sound of things here ). I'm trying to get re-inspired by the whole doll thing again. Hopefully a discussion about my favourite company will help?

Yes! I still love Bambu, and especially boy Bambu too!
Now that I have a new iPad, I might start taking photos of my dolls again. I really liked the ability to snap a photo and then edit it right away with an app. It helps me be a bit more productive. My Bambu also has a beautiful faceup now, so I also would like to share her more! Because of her successful and realistic faceup, she makes me want a Yuan and Sian even more. I think I will work towards them with my next job.

Does anyone have suggestions for companies that match Elfdoll white skin? I managed to snag a Vivien head finally, and unfortunately while I do have an extra Elfdoll body laying around, it's in normal skin.

I think so far I've seen her hybrided with Dollstown, Soom Super Gem, and Iplehouse?

 

I have a Yuan head in Snow skin and she's pretty much a pale normal ... Doll in Mind used to match it while they were around, and Miro normal skin is within blushing range (the head needing the blushing as the body is obviously darker). Some batches of Iple did work, but the neck won't fit without quite a bit of sanding. (Iple necks are on the thick side while the Elfdoll neck opening is pretty tiny, I bevelled out my Yuan's a bit to fit her on the DiM body.)
Granado might also be worth a look - they offer custom resin matching and their Nuevo body is pretty nifty.

 

Thank you for the suggestions! I hear you on the Iplehouse thing. I still have flashbacks to the hours of sanding I had to do to fit my LLT Edria head on one. @_@

 

I recently got a NS June head that I need to look into bodies again for. I have hybrided an Eun-a ws head on a dollzone body, and it looks good. The ns and ws are not that far off from each other...so don't worry too much about it. Just look for elfdoll matches.
I would post a pic...but mobile fb isn't letting me get a link...and that's the only place I can put pics on line now. Just know she is colorful and cute and old and slightly damaged, and I'm gonna try and make her into a Harajuku girl.

Elfdoll and Granado WS are just about a perfect match.

 

Hello again! The last time I shared my Jack (Elfdoll Sian boy) here was three years ago. XD Woops. He has a new face up, a new body (Fdoll 60cm, pink skin) and new wig, so maybe it's time to show him here again.



The match between Elfdoll NS and Fdoll pink is decent, the body is a little too pink but I will hopefully fix that soon with blushing. I think pale normal would have been a better match, but thankfully it is not too bad. I'm just so happy he has a body again! ♥

 

Elfdoll normal skin+Granado normal skin or Elfdoll snow skin+Granado normal skin?

 

Elfdoll snow skin/white skin + Granado white skin. Both are a pinky/creamy color, not true white.

 

It's perfect, because I want (in future ) one piece of Granado nuevo body for my Roux (Elfdoll Vivien snow skin).

 

Hey guys! Long time no post. Love seeing all these pics I've missed, so many beautiful dolls! Thank you all for sharing them, they are stunning!

I just wanted to pop in because I finally have my second Elfdoll Rita sorted, she got back from the faceup artist today. I'll try to take a pic of her and Clove at some point I think, but for now, here have some Darishka! (Those are actually Clove's eyes I've just been wanting to see what they'd look like on Rishka for a while. I'll get a pic of her own grey eyes soon.)

Swinging back in to let you guys know that Dollstown fresh skin is an almost perfect match for Elfdoll white skin. I just received a 18yr girl body and my Vivien head looks great on it.

That's really great too know! Thank you! Also could you show your Vivien head on that body sometime? I'd been considering that hybrid myself for the longest time but thought it wouldn't work because of the neck size. Do/Did you have to do any adjustments or anything?

Also, just for note, in terms of colour matching, IOS new normal is a fairly close match to Elfdoll Snow Skin as well. I wouldn't say a perfect match or anything but I'd personally say it's like somewhere about 85% myself or possibly closer depending on opinion, I'm terrible at judging to be honest. In normal light it looks pretty good though, enough that I would say just blushing from a faceup would make it almost impossible to tell the difference. This is a fairly old head that's been stored in a dark box since I got it almost and a brand new IOS body, but the match is pretty good.

 

@ArcaneDesires Sure! Enjoy some awful cellphone photos with bonus messy apartment.

Technically her neck fits exactly, but I'm planning on sanding the neck a little. There's a bit of an awkward gap when I tilt her head, and I think smoothing the top of the neck a little will help. I may try sueding first to see if that improves things.

The resin color looks like more of a mis-match on my computer than in real life, but your results may vary. It's definitely slight enough that a regular faceup will cover things up. Proportion-wise, it's perfect for what I had in mind for her (tall, lanky, flat-chested, boyish.) She's wearing an unknown tanktop and a pair of Iplehouse SID/EID leggings. I've also fit her into a Volks SD17 3 piece suit, but haven't otherwise tried anything.

 

Hi Ya'all, I just got a Hazy head off the marketplace, and I still need to give her a "home brew" faceup, but I'm so excited to finally have a big Elfdoll! Especially Hazy as I've always loved the more realistic sculpts best

Love your Vivian, @whitebread ! That body is also gorgeous, I love her shoulders! Is the white skin the same as snow? I got the snow colored head It'd be good to know if I can ever update the body!

 

Oh thank you so much @whitebread that's a great help! It's weird I always sort of forget that that body has a neck who's size is almost the same as the Elfdoll body. I thought it was a 10cm for some reason. But this shows me the idea I had would work perfectly! Thank you! All the reasons you listed are exactly why I wanted this body for my Vivien too. The tomboyish, slim, small busted lankiness.

I know I'll have struggles with the colour match because mine is Normal Pink skin, and it matches very well with the older Fairyland Normal, the darker peachy tone so I'll have to see but one day I think I definitely want to do this combo myself. I'm in love! Your girl looks so good!

Congrats on the Hazy @IngieBee I'm currently working on sorting my Hazy out as well! I thought I had the perfect body but alas when it got here it turned out it was just a tad too small for my boy. Back to saving and trying to sell this one then! lol

 

I haven't had the time yet to compare skin tones in daylight, let alone interior electrical lighting! So I still have no idea if this will work, but I sure hope so! She just has to be light enough to blush to match???!!!

Anyways, it always seems like a guessing game! I suspect Supiadoll would also match well. Looks like they still have free shipping going on as well!

 

What body do you have for her? I don't have many pale normal skin dolls. A lot of mine have yellowed with age and were second hand, but I know that my Hazy head (also snow skin) is paler and could be blushed to match my Doll In Mind body which is a very pale pink skin tone. I'm sure it could be blushed lightly to match most normal or pink skinned bodies. Good luck either way!

Supiadoll is paler and less pinky than either of my Normal Skin dolls. It can work but generally a slight hint of blushing is needed. Normal/Pink skin Elfdoll's at least the two I have match with old Fairyland which is a much darker, peachier tone than I've come to know Supiadoll as. It really all depends though I suppose. Some of them are more on the yellow and paler side and some of them were more of a pink/peach colour. Just thought I should note that.

 

Yes, and the biggest thing it depends on is your tollerence for a difference. I'm pretty tollerence as long as they are the same hue. But when one is peachy and the other pink, it wouldn't matter if the depth of color we're sililar. I have a CP/Luts head on a new Luts body which is much lighter and it's OK to me. I'll be putting that head back on a supia body, mostly because she seems to like that body, and I decided to keep that Luts head I got with the body. But they are not perfect matches, either one, but the hue is the same and it works for me I hope I got the terms correct?? LOL

 

If you got a NS head from the "candy pink" era, it can be a real challenge to match a body! I got lucky with a Mirodoll normal pink that was a little darker than usual. Miro bodies may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I like the look of them with the smaller Elfdoll heads.

@IngieBee congrats on Hazy! She's one of my favorites. Well, they're all my favorites, really.

 

Thanks @Alewife I finally got to look at her in natural daylight with the Impldoll Normal Pink (which is very pink and rather light) and I definitely think I can blush her to match. She is still very light, and within range despite the snow skin having a warm hue, so I'm really happy
