Aww thanks Kathryn B! I think Clove is lovely too. XD I'm really happy you said it gives her so much personality, she really feels like she has her personality now, like she's truly Clove. Just gotta get her body blushing done, upper eyelashes and her eyeco eyes. Well those and a wig for her with her hair down. Yep personality detected and it's spoiled freaking rotten... lol

On the subject of the resin, so they changed a few times? I didn't know they did that too many times, but I'd definitely suspect that may be one of the reasons why. It sounds like it. Wow, we're really getting somewhere with the Elfdoll chat thread now! Number 3 wheeeeeee!

Sincerely people i'm happy that not all people got the severe thinness of eyewells i got along with my Rita head, i've fixed now so nevermind cause old sculpts will not be for sale anymore.

 

I honestly think that despite casting companies maybe molds of some head was pretty worn, that's why in time thin areas became more wide on Elfdoll heads

Wow Ksiny! I'm always on the fence over whether I like the smiling Barbara's or not but your girl is gorgeous! She looks so real and alive! I love it.

Regarding the thinness of the Rita head, I have two Rita heads in snow resin. The resin is very thin around her eyelids (nowhere else), which I consider an advantage. It imitates the thinness of real human eyelids and puts her eyes further forward in her head. That said, she did arrive with a tiny chip in her lower eyelid. This didn't bother me as I was planning to mod that head to having closed eyes anyways.

I did an experiment that might interest you all. I have two pairs of brown eyes: 10mm oval realistic glass Glib eyes (5mm iris) and 12mm resin Enchanted Doll eyes (7mm iris). I tried them both in my Rita and my Hazy and you can see there is a big difference in how the doll is perceived. I think the smaller irises look more realistic and mature, which in my opinion suits the realistic Elfdoll sculpts. But of course that depends on the effect you are going for. Both eyes fit perfectly in the socket of both sculpts, the only apparent difference is in the iris size.

Like I said, I prefer the smaller Glib eyes, which is awesome since they are only about $13 each, unlike the Enchanted Doll ones!

You can also see the results of my modding work to get the Twigling Ingenue body to fit the Rita head. I have lost my fear of the dremel and am very happy with how her head can sit on the neck now! Here is a before shot for comparison.

 

You are welcome! The chip is a little scary, yes, but it is very tiny. It is on her left eyelid (right in the photos), you can just barely see it.

If I wanted a young or cute look for these dolls I would prefer the big irises too. Although truly these sculpts are so pretty they look good in everything!

 

Allurose So it is most definitely a Rita thing then. Well thats good to know. Shame about the chipping, but good thing you were planning on doing something with her anyway. Thank you SOOOOO much for posting these pics! I have both a Hazy and 2 Rita's and I definitely prefer the smaller iris in both girls. Hazy especially looks perfect in those eyes! That's really helpful to know, because I'm very fond of those Glib eyes and they are such a perfect colour. XD I still worry that even 5mm iris are a little big for the Rita head, just my personal preference, but I think even if it was possible to get smaller it would look too small, so I'll have to suck it up. I was planning on getting one of my Rita's 5mm iris Eyecos so now I know what she'll look like at least and that's really helpful. XD

I will post some piccies of blank rita head to show if there is a difference i terms of perception now that her eyewells and all the inner part of head cape is repaired with milliput, imo shouldn't be any difference cause eyewells are repaired inside, but i think that a pic will turn handy
Regarding the eyes you know i prefer more with big irises, my preferences of course. I agree with Arcane anyway that eyeco works better for elfdoll heads cause these eyes have small iris and wide sclera.

Regarding thin areas even my Barbara in normal skin color have thin areas in eyewell, but wasn't so thin as Rita head that $abbatha got, glad that not all heads came in that shape!
About eyes i prefer smaller eyes and i found that eyeco fit pretty well into my needs, i always pick-up 13mm size.

KathrynB Awww thanks! I really, really love her. Somehow the fact that her faceup isn't perfect makes me love her more. XD And at least I'm not the only one then. But ergh it annoys me so bad that they just don't come out good. Still Clove certainly has attitude and I love it too! So does her Cato, though he won't admit it. I swear every pic I take of her she has attitude and I don't even try to get her that way, she just turns out like that, its awesome to have a doll with such a personality. hehe

hehe Thanks! Yep, she is most definitely not lacking in the confidence department. She's very much strong, confident and sure of herself. She's probably got the most personality and she totally rules the roost here. (Just don't tell all the big guys that, they'd be severely grumpy! lol Not that they aren't already, but a tiny little girl winning is so not good for their macho images.) Oh and thanks again, sadly it's just a top (Clove doesn't have any dresses yet, she's really not girly enough, but at some point she may have a few short skirts) but since her new clothes arrived, I had to take a pic of her wearing them. I totally need to get a pic of her with her new sneakers, she absolutely loves them and they look so good on her! XD

Yep, I couldn't resist. Plus it stops her from having to share sneakers with one of my boys. She didn't so much like that. lol I'm hoping to get a tripod soon, or some time to take her outside to get some full length shots of her and Cato to show them both off, so hopefully I'll have something to share soon. Also thanks again! I'm really quite happy with how she's turned out. Sure I'll eventually redo her and try to make it even better, but I do love her and she's still my favourite. XD

 

I'm still stuck in the land of nowhere with my Rita face up, i need to find more inspiration, still the concept is pretty clear into my mind, but i have no ideas still to make her face up :

 

Aww I know that feeling. Least you have an idea for your Rita head. I'm still stuck in the land of nowhere without even a brief idea of what to do for Darishka... I can't even decide if that's going to stay her name or not, let alone what she should look like or whether she'll be a Succubus/Demon type girl or just a dark witch or... Ergh I don't know! Hope you find some inspiration for your girl soon!

Regarding the lack of ideas, oh well i think i need just to focus more onto her concept..usually i start with a very general idea of the thing and then i refine the concept till find the right one. I hope that will be like that also for Rita head, recently i've focused more onto Twigling Ingenue head, which has few changes of concept till i found the right one it's good for Rita that she's not been thru this route!

Kitty is Hoshi, she's a Mushroom Peddler Scratch and I think Off Topic on DoA? she's an anthro and a bit less humanish than a Pukisha, more like an upright walking kitty than humanoid kitty.
She ended up getting one of the little troll dolls I bought at the meet.

There's an annual meet (and a rush for the limited spots) in Madison Wisconsin...though I live in Milwaukee and we had visitors there from Canada and the Chicago area as well as Minnesota!
I took Sooooooo many photos (and ate too much junk food).

Any how Tomoe and Makoto are such a sweet couple, I totally adore them... and they have Soooo many outfits they can co-ordinate... and I bought her another kimono at the meet. as if she needed another one, but it was so fab I couldn't say no!

Eventually I want to also get him one of those Tuxes from Freedom Teller.
Every time I look at these two, I fall in love with them all over again.

And I admit I tried sharpening the images a little in photoshop and fiddled with the colours in Pixlr to try and make them look a little better, (just don't look at it at full size cos then it sucks! lol) but seriously, thank you. I still don't think I take great pics and I need to practice more with posing my dolls, but that might be the best compliment I've ever gotten on any of my dolls or well anything I do. She really does look like she's about to come to life, it's part of why I adore photographing her so much, she's just so photogenic. XD

$abbatha and $avage Thank you both so much! I'm glad you approve. Taking them to the woods was the best decision. There were some awesome backgrounds for my shots for once. And being as they are in a forest in the Hunger Games, Cato and Clove seemed to feel right at home too. hehe

And just because I can, right before I go away for a day, here I go again with the Clove spam. Good goddess I love my girl so much! She's spoiled rotten, I can't stop photographing her.

Thanks to a kind member of DoA, I was able to get a Sian head!!! I had almost given up, also because I was focused on other not-dolly-related projects and was saving some money, but my boyfriend got this head for me because I looked for one for months and you know

Can anyone tell me about the resin match variations between years for elfdoll regarding real skin? Anyone with multiple elfdolls who might be able to attest to this here? ;u; I've read that elfdoll seems very dangerously different resin wise, from batch to batch.

Totally missed the new thread! Just dropping in to share some Sophia (Tasha) spam. I don't think I've shared her all put together yet. This photo was taken for this past 4th of July.


By the way, does anyone have news about elfdoll or have they been super quiet since the start of the year? I've been eyeing the bodies that aren't sold out yet to replace the Mirodoll body I have Sophia on and for my still unpainted Vivien. But I get the feeling that now isn't a good time to order from them...

I've done nothing on my Rita head and she's with me since ages, too lazy to work on her head, at least i've reinforced the inner part of her head, so the next step will be find the whole concept for her.

The only update we had from Elfdoll company itself is that probably on SEP the company will update the new line with new head sculpts and also bodies, i'm guessin here, more over new dolls will be limited.

About bodies i'm seriously thinking to get an April Story body for my Barbara head!

 

I'm very interested in getting a April Story body as well, but the Elfdoll NS seems like its going to be impossible to match.

 

Well Sketchy sincerely a little of blushing could do the trick, surely i will not let it slip away the promotional sales cause it's really good, giving up just for a shading of resin color is a no way for me

 

I just ordered the Classy body in white skin so I can dye it. The trouble is I'm not sure what dye formula to use to match the resin. I tried to estimate the Elfdoll resin color as closely as possible (somewhere between pantone 9260 C and 9220 C), but the Rit Dye people were not very helpful in figuring out a formula for that color.

Maybe I should go into my local Sephora, since I know they have the pantone color readers. XD Elfdoll NS, why are you so pink!?!
