Awesome! Took a look around the gallery too..... And saw June.... She was gorrrrrgeous! >_> <_< I'm obsessed with them making these girls into elves

 

I was gonna share the news...but the world took off without me. Hehe. Anyways, I am so excited! I actually really like Rachel. I can't afford an extra doll right now though. So they are replying to messages? Awesome! I should ask about the 14cm tinies. I love them to bits! I have 7. I would love to see some more faces.
I actually met DK years ago at an Elfdoll meetup at IDEX when it was in Orlando. She gifted me some clothes for my tinies. She didn't speak English, but she saw me browsing through them and was so sweet.

 

Thanks for the heads up about the gallery, there are stock images there I actually looked for in the past and couldn't find anywhere after the previous site went down

 

Hard to believe the last stock image was dated back to 2010. Didn't realize the original site had been gone that long.

 

It's been 7 years?!? I had no idea. Seeing those old gallery photos made me really nostalgic.

 

Can't have been ... I bought two Elfdoll heads directly from them and Eun-A only got here in 2014. But it's been much too long, their sculpts are so pretty. I hope they bring back some old ones, too ...

 

It's impossible for Elfdoll to be gone since 2010 since I ordered dolls from them in 2012 and 2014. At the most, they were gone starting around late 2014 to early 2015.

 

They may have still been working on the gallery. The last entry is now 2013.10

 

Yep I bought 3 heads in 2014 and a full doll in 2013 if i remember correctly. Not long before their site went bust I got the 3 heads so it hasn't been all that long. I was gonna say I imagine that's when those sculpts were announced or released and since they've apparently fixed the dates now that makes sense to me.

 

O_o that makes more sense then. It felt like a realllllly long time compared to when I thought I last saw the site, but was all the gallery had at the time XD More stuff to drool over now

 

Hmmm, getting the same reply from ElfDoll about June, Lydia, and Pandora with all of them getting the response of they will be put to the next release list? Is it just a list they're compiling of options to release next? I had a similar conversation with Dream of Doll about their re-release events before sadly the site disappeared, but they said the dolls I asked about would be considered for future events.... Or is ElfDoll going to do one massive release of the old dolls

 

Can’t believe that Elfdoll was gone for sooo long! I just went to the website and fall in love with the type C! Will take a little break since I just ordered Niko from Volks USA, probably a little gift for my self as my birthday in April ( will order in January ) please share photo with us if anyone’s doll arrives!

 

@Khloverra Well they've only been a few years, 3 or there abouts, but it certainly felt like such a long time. Waaaaaaaay too long. lol If you want to see pics of Rachel, I would suggest following the Elfdoll Lovely thread as she fits in there and not here unfortunately as she's MSD size not SD. Just so you know. I'm seriously tempted by her though, I think she's rather beautiful. and I am so seriously excited to have Elfdoll back! This is so amazing, I'm really hoping they'll bring back Emma, I want one so much! XD

@WinterSong Sadly they haven't released any actual info on how or when they will release the older sculpts, so we have no idea right now, but I really, really hope they sell heads only because I can't afford, don't need anymore girl bodies right now, but I seriously want an Emma head.

Not a problem! Just wanted to let you know where to look so you could see her when people start bringing her home. XD They have said they are going to bring back some of the old sculpts, as I say I'm holding out for an Emma because she's the only one I completely adore but don't have yet. The rest I love and want, but her I'm very eager to own so here's hoping they do and soon! But for now we're not sure how and when that will happen, hopefully we'll get more news on that sometime soon.

 

Would be nice if they had another release sometime early next year *fingers crossed* They sure held nothing back for this initial re-launch. Three dolls, plus outfits AND a discount voucher. Gives me hope for Dream of Doll as well. They just vanished with no announcement what early last year or mid 2015? Hopefully they'll be able to recover and re-open as well.

 

The time of when it shut down isn't clear because it was all pretty confusing. iirc, their site was sporadically up and down through the first half of 2015 before closing for good (I don't remember if it was possible to actually order during this time? The shop section of the site may have been closed for longer because i remember a thing where they moved servers in late 2014 but had problems and downtime with the e-shop afterwards and may not have put it back up). After that point in mid 2015, people who inquired whether the company had shut down were responded to with the (vague) statement that they planned to come back eventually and Rainman was taking some time to focus other projects. So "since mid 2015" I guess, if you want to state how long they were gone.

 

Junkyspot had an Elfdoll Pandora on their site a during their Black Friday sale. I was a little surprised to see her as she's been supposedly sold out for a while. You might write and ask them about her if you're interested. She's a gorgeous doll.

 

O_O This Black Friday?! that's surprising as she had been listed as totally Sold Out couple years ago just a few weeks after I'd seen her on clearance there.

 

Huh.... Okay now I'm really confused.... Apparently they had a sale recently where she was on sale for $500..... same disclaimer of New Dolls Old Inventory. When she was on clearance few years ago she was like $397. Does JunkySpot do Layaway?

EDIT:.... Just found the old canceled order in email list.... She was only $300 at the time >_< PayPal had put a hold on the refund and it all got screwed up, so I never tried to re-order.

Sooooo anyone know if ElfDoll is doing Layaway on the Rachel Dolls?

Elfdoll never only did SD sizes. Their start was 14cm tinies. This thread was only sorted into large doll discussion after the microorganizing of DoA began. It was originally for all Elfdoll dolls. I wish it still was. I hate the segregation. Good thing I have SDs to talk about.

Elfdoll did certainly male SD sizes they called Rainy. They made dolls from tiny to SD! I have three gorgeous SD girls! Here is my Black Orchid Soah in a hat by Diane Abel

 

@WinterSong Yes this Black Friday. She wasn't on the first day but was added sometime during the weekend. I was surprised to see her again too. I bought mine either last year or the year before from them - after she was supposedly sold out years ago.

 

It's exciting that they're considering re-releasing some of the old sculpts. Also nice that Oka is there! I wasn't sure if she was still with the company or not. Last I heard, she and her husband had been moving to Singapore.

@nancy_schroeder_ca gorgeous girl! My Soah was my very first BJD, still my favorite and still ruling the roost here.

 

She looks so beautiful and realistic. She could be Clove or Esther.

 

I'm so happy that Elfdoll is back in buisiness, they had some great sculpts and the new one looks promising!

Don't think I've ever shared my Ruru here. Very excited to see that Rainman is working again on dolls and hope to see some new SD girls in the futures.

@Alewife - thank you, and yes I don't see too many Ruru's around but she was really the girl that made me an Elfdoll fan.

@Follow-the-Wind - thank you. She was trying to go for a "turn of the century" kind of look for last years bjd convention in TX. I don't really have any "period" type clothes so that was closest she got.

Thanks, I love it too. What you see is how she came second hand. Face-up, eyes, wig, skirt (full length), top and even jewelry. Made my job a lot easier!

Update - Elfdoll is Re-Opening!!! Did everyone see the update to the update? I guess it would explain some things...

I signed in to Elfdoll and ask about it, Elfdoll's futur and the old molds on their Q&A.
So far i'm quite pessimistic and i really hope to be proven wrong.

 

@Blah thanks for posting the announcement! Where did you see it, if you don't mind my asking?

I'm pessimistic too. It doesn't look like there'll be any new Rainman sculpts. I wonder if DK still has the molds to the old sculpts. Rachel could be the last sculpt they had promised just before they went away last time, maybe?

As far as i know, Elfdoll is a branch (or the BJD branche) of Artmaze (at least since 2009 when i got my Bambu) and if you look on Elfdoll's website, well, it's still belonging to Artmaze.

Ah, thank you!! That makes a little more sense. The announcement must be mainly so Rainman doesn't have to answer questions about Elfdoll products, since he's no longer affiliated with them. The Elfdoll site ELF DOLL still belongs to Artmaze, so Rainman must be cutting ties with both the Elfdoll and Artmaze name. I wonder if he plans to continue sculpting, and if so, for who?

 

So it would only mean that the branch that may be sale should be "Rainman Art" ? And there would be no incident on Elfdoll ?
About Rainman, when Elfdoll closed a few years ago, i got the feeling he wasn't interested in BJD anymore and just wanted to sculp action figures head. I woulnd't mind being wrong.

Anyway, if/when i get an answer from Eldoll Q&A, i'll copy paste it here.

 

That's how I'm reading it. DK and Rainman parted ways last July, DK bought Artmaze and assumed the debts. She reopened the Elfdoll shop in December, then it occurred to somebody to post that legal announcement that Rainman is no longer responsible for Artmaze/Elfdoll orders. At least that's what I think is going on!
