Elfdoll Mini LovelyDolls Discussion part 3

Jul 23, 2015

    1. Twiggy was released as both a limited and a basic, I think... The limited came out in May 2009, maybe? I found this old review, if that helps: Elfdoll Lovely Twiggy Yumi

Edit to add: My own personal wayback machine isn't working so well these days  but I think what made her "Twiggy", rather than just regular Yumi, was the realskin color.

    2. now I'm getting confused. which girl came with the pink dress? that's the one I have. extra fist hands, Dami faceplate. her owner said she was limited. but weren't they all?

    3. The pink dress was Amy, I believe. I think Twiggy was Hommei skin, but it has been a while. Twiggy was a special for US retailers.

Here's the release thread on DOA but unfortunately the picture links are broken. Real skin is ,mentioned but not official info. There were two editions. the first was 40 dolls and the second only 30.

    4. so my doll is coming with that pink dress......I have glasses so I can't tell but it looks like it says Twiggy Yumi/default on it? maybe?

    5. the card, the box, nothing says anything about which release she is. her owner said she bought her through a US dealer
there were two releases of Twiggy Yumi, one with a pink dress and one with green. I think one was realskin and one homme. ?
I think mine is realskin. it's such a pretty color.

yes, that's my girl. with the godawful pink dress. lol.

I just took the dress out of the box and it does say "Twiggy Yumi - Default Fashion"
no one actually took it out of the wrapper I don't think. ;)

    6. well I guess we have Twiggy Yumi then :-)......and we will have a hard hard time finding extra bodies for the additional faceplates! I had a normal skin yumi twice before and she was fairly light toned.

    7. Ok-that is what my doll on layaway looks like. Interesting. When she gets home I'll have to really look her over.

    8. Congratulations oto both of you for finding a Twiggy!

    9. Yes, congratulations and great detective work, everybody!

    10. since the pink dress says it's for the default Twiggy Yumi, I'm guessing the green one was for the 2d release
      of 30.
all I'd like is a sleeping faceplate in realskin or homme.

so fun there will be more photos of new Lovelies!

    11. Thank you for posting this link. I found the original Dami and Yumi on the webpage. I was lucky enough to receive the original Yumi as a present from my husband way back when she and Dami were first released. Yumi is dressed in Black and Red, and Dami is all in white. These dolls also had extra feet with molded shoes. Rainman posted a cute photo-story at the time. They were twins, who had lost their mother, and didn't get along. Yumi destroyed her sister's teddy bear with scissors. Dami's skin color was listed as "normal," and Yumi was "white." Dami had two faceplates - open eyed and sleeping. Yumi had open eyed and half closed eyes. I guess I will not be able to find the sleeping faceplate for my white skinned Yumi. I have 3 faceplates for her: Open eyed, Half closed, and Sullen, which I was able to buy in white skin right before Elfdoll closed their site.

    12. @Lizzy1912 I'd forgotten about that photo story. Rainman had such a fun sense of humor!

    13. Yes, he did. I miss reading those and his "making stories" too.

    14. Yes, I loved those. Maybe he'll start making BJDs again someday. I haven't given up hope.

    15. I hope he does.....the dolls were beautiful

      • x 1
    16. Agreed! I would fully support that! We can always hope!!

    17. @Lizzy1912 - oh, I remember that story. how lucky to have the dolls with extras. Nice hubby, too.

I was a member on the Elfdoll site, but haven't had any notice from Rainman about anything in years.

it's interesting how artists, just like collectors, drop out and back into the hobby. Bimong bringing out new girls as an example.

all so fun and expensive. :kitty2

    18. At least we know Rainman and DK are still out there, active in the action figure field. Rainman still apparently sends out notices to his action figure subscribers (one of my friends is on that list).

    19. Did you ever try the elfdoll Dami/Yumi head on the dollmore body out of curiosity? I'm currently debating the following options for my floating Dami half Open eye NS head for bodies based on suggestions I have read through this board and most seem to have pictures from people:
1-Angel of Dream MSD girl body in normal pink
2-Longsoul MSD 42.5 cm girl body with small bust in normal pink
      3-Minifee Body in NS
      4-Dollmore Kid Body in NS

Does anyone else have hybrids they have done they would care to share? Can be for normal skin or real skin or any skin tone. I have another faceplate in real skin that will probably end up being a hybrid if I can find her a headback. She is still on layaway though and not home yet, so I'm just working on finding the body for my head that is home, but I would love to see pics of hybrids if you have them!

    20. I hope Rainman make more bjds at some point too. So was the "special Amy" in the pink dress the new longer legged, bigger bust body or the old body? It's hard to tell. I liked the fact that different face plates were offered for most of these.

I think from the SD elfdolls that the fairyland normal skin matches, might be mistaken. It sure would be interesting to see any of the hybrids mentioned above.

    21. @Meggethann, I haven't been able to try the Elfdoll head on the Dollmore body yet, I will try to do that soon.

@calliope13, I think Amy was on the newer body.

    24. Awww! I love this! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Elfdoll fam!! Heart your faces!

    25. I hope everyone had a nice holiday. @Enma G. I love your photo. :)

    26. Oh y'all what a happy day!!! My real skin Dami elfdoll that I bought secondhand arrived and now I finally have my Twins! Not sure what I'm doing with the faceplate that came with that doll. It's very yellowed and needs new eyelashes, but I really never intended to keep it. I may sell it or use it as a practice head for faceups. I bought this body and headback for my second faceplate I had in realskin and yay!! It feels so good to have my two girls together. The seller was so nice and included an outfit and jewelry and a wig and hair accessories. I swear I get spoiled by everyone I buy from. Haha. So I didn't have to worry about her being naked for awhile. I even was able to take the eyes out of the head and put them in my floating NS half open Dami head. So all I have left now is to find that girl a body and voila! I will have my little elfdoll family! Yay!

I wish I knew how to directly post pictures, but every time I do it fails, so here are some links. Sorry they aren't posed better. I was in a rush to get them together before heading out the door.

      Elfdoll-Dami/Yumi Sculpts
All my Elfdoll Girls!!! Dami-Yumi Sculpt!
And a comparison of the two open eyed Damis. The one I received today has yellowed quite a bit, but I imagine with a faceup, could be made to work out quite nicely. Definitely interesting to see the contrast in the two real skins though.

Yay! Hope you enjoy! So happy!

    27. The girls are lovely! I'm glad you have your twins!

You can post pictures from flickr by clicking on the share arrow in the lower right. Then choose BBCode and the size you want. Flickr will get you the link you need to paste into your message.

    28. When I do this, there is never an option for BBC code anywhere. I've looked and looked. I even tried to go into the pc version from my iPhone and it still won't display anything under the arrow other than copy URL. Is it an iPhone thing? I swear it makes me feel stupid because I've had so many people explain it and I still can't figure it out. I usually figure tech out pretty quick too.

I'm glad you love the twins! Hopefully I'll have a body for their kid sis soon!

    29. It may be a iPhone issue. On my Laptop, there are four options above the link: Share Embed Email BBCode.

I think I have heard other people complain about posting links from a phone.

    30. Ooh my goodness...have you all seen the latest Dollzone release? I have no idea about resin match, but the body would be such a delightful hybrid for my elfdoll head. Oh I'm tempted to bring my head down to Mint on Card in the next few days and compare it to their in stock resin and see if it could work. I mean...I didn't even check measurements, but it's so kid like and cute. It's certainly in the running.

    31. Hi everybody!
I know my question will be a little strange but is it possible to hybrid the dami head to a smaller body than the Minifee?

    32. I don't remember seeing a Dami on a minifee but it doesn't sound like a great choice. I wonder if the BunnyNine body would work? I will add that to the list of bodies to try!

    33. @Meggethann they are adorable! Congratulations! Maybe now you need triplets, with the extra faceplate. ;)

I have a couple of odd hybrids with the Lovely heads, but I don't know how much good the info will do anybody because both bodies are long discontinued. One is a Serendipity Sharmin body, and the other is Garden of Doll Nabiya. I recently acquired a 1/4 Mirodoll body, but I haven't tried a Lovely head on it yet. I need to restring it. I'm not sure the style will really suit it though. The body is kind of a muscular little gymnast looking thing. :)

    34. When I say "body smaller" I mean under 40cm, more around 30cm?

    35. @july77 the Lovely heads do have smallish neck holes, so that part would be all right. They might look a little bobble-headed on a smaller body, though.

    36. I think 30cm might be too small. Bunny Nine is 35 cm. I'll get a few dolls out and see. Hopefully soon. But I have a new girl who needs eyes first!

    37. [IMG]

I tried one of my Elfdoll heads on the Doll Leaves old big bust body. You know, for science ;)
The resin match isn't 100%, but there's only minimal bobblehead-ness going on, and I think it looks okay :)
She's usually on an AoD body, but I've been considering getting her a v1 Magic Time body and modding the neck the be a bit thinner. Has anybody done a resin comparison of those two companies maybe?

    38. Did both releases come out in 2009?

    39. @Emma G. - love the nutcrackers with your girl.

      @FacelessPuppets - looking good!

playing with Iseul on a rainy day. this is a raincoat for Gene from years ago.

    40. @loveispurple which releases are you wondering about?

@petiteballerine I remember that coat! She looks darling in it. My Elfdoll girls have stolen the clothes from many a 16" fashion doll. ;)

    41. now I'm getting confused. which girl came with the pink dress? that's the one I have. extra fist hands, Dami faceplate. her owner said she was limited. but weren't they all

The pink default dress was the ltd release of 30 she's exactly the same as the first release of 40 . The only difference is the default dress. The first 40 came with a green flowery sort of dress. I had both releases.

    42. @petiteballerine
wow she is very cute *-* and her raincoat is very beautyful.

    43. So happy to be a part (faceplate) of this thread! Thank you MEG!! She is going to just be the apple of my eye once she gets her sea legs!!
Not sure if she's going to be named Snowy or Zoey... Have to wait on that and maybe it will be something else! But for now I'm thinking Zoey... Can't wait to try all my wigs on her! I am liking this fur one tho! And then maybe make her an alpaca one... Sorry for the crappy Iphone photo!

    44. @willobea welcome to the thread! She's adorable, with her big brown eyes.

    45. Thanks so much! I was lucky to have the right size eyes!!!

    46. ]Yumi and Dami are the same sculpt. Dami was NS and Yumi was WS. Yumi Twiggy was in Homme skin.I believe their were four face plates, open eye, half open, sleeping, and smiling.[/QUOTE]
Ive had Dami in ws and Yumi in ns and Twiggy skin . I was always under the impression that Yumi is the smaller eyes regardless of skin tone?

    47. Both Dami and Yumi came with both open and half open eyes. The Elfdoll site always list ws as Yumi and ns as Dami. Twiggy was darker and later there was a real skin release.
Here's the link to the old Elfdoll on the wayback machine: ::: ELFDOLL INC. :::

    48. Also I believe there was a "sullen" Dami/Yumi that you could get in either color.

    49. Completely newb question, how do you remove an elfdoll headback off the body? I can't figure out how to get the ring off. Do you have to start unstringing the doll somewhere else? I bought an elfdoll body with a headback, but I have a floating headback and faceplate and want to switch them out, but have no idea how to do it. Thanks.

    50. A ring is definitely old school. You will need to restring her. Start by taking off the feet. I imagine there are instructions in the workshop or you can message me if you need more help.

      • x 1
    51. All my elfdoll bodies have the ring. Did the newer bodies come with s-hooks? And thanks for offering help. I think for now I'm going to leave this headback on just put my faceplate on her since she is perfectly strung and I don't want to mess it up. I may have a go with it on my first elfdoll girl soon though because she is floppier than floppy and needs to be restrung. So if I have to mess up somebody I guess it might as well be that one. Haha. For now I just want to enjoy my three sisters all in one piece. I posted pics on my IG. meggethann I can never get pics to post here as you all know. So if you want to see them you can check them out. I should probably get some pics of them up on my Flickr too.

Also what size wigs do elfdolls normally take? I have been gifted every wig that my girls wear and so I have no idea what they wear. My newest is currently bald, but I would love to go shopping and get her something. Is it typical MSD/ like 7-8? And for people who have half-open eyed damis and yumis, what would you say your eye size preference is? I was also gifted eyes. It's just funny when you have the open eyed Dami next to the half open eyed dami and the eye size is so different. I think I want to go smaller iris to with my half open eyed dami so any recommendations would be awesome.

    52. As far as I recall, they all had the ring. It's a pain. I plan to do a bit of modding on the headbacks at some point.

Wigs: 7 is just about perfect, meaning that 6-7 can be too small and 7-8 can be too big. :sweat I've had pretty good luck with Monique 6-7, because they have stretchy caps. For eyes, mine have 14mm now, but Anthony came with BIG 16mm eyes.

@Meggethann do you have a link to your IG pictures? I'd love to see. :)

    53. I'll have to check the one I got in the ending sale1

    54. I'd be interested to hear! The last Lovely body I got was a couple of years before their ending sale, and she had a ring.

    55. Yes, she has a ring!

    56. I wouldn't mind the ring if you could get it out through a slot in the headback, like the Elfdoll Rainy size.
