Elfdoll Mini LovelyDolls Discussion part 3

Jul 23, 2015

    1. haha! now I'm going to hunt down a sleeping Yumi faceplate. (needle - haystack)

    2. They were easy to get to!

Elfdoll Yumi on new body, Dollmore Ramie, Elfdoll Dami on original body

I think Ramie is a bit tall. She looks OK with the original body which is more childlike.

PS: Thanks for making me get Ramie out! I wanted a picture of her as Dollmore sent her before I get her appropriate eyes and remove those huge eyelashes!

    3. Your Raime is gorgeous! I'm thinking even 48 for an older sibling. it's moot now that I've looked at Souldoll's Souloids. I keep missing out on them. not this time!
      big brother is a robot?

so those are the different versions, the older body is the one I'm getting. in the darker skin. she sure is shiny. but the childlike figure suits my ideas for her.
your white skin girl is like Unoa. sexy!

    4. @petiteballerine congrats on your Yumi!

The only shoes I've found that fit so far are the ones Dale Rae used to make. If anyone has other ideas, I'd love to hear them. :)

    5. My Dami is normal skin.Twiggy was homme skin so a little darker. A spray of matt MSC should cut the shine.

    6. oh, ok. Twiggy. I just started looking her up last night (I'm a fast worker but then I have a gifted enabler.) and it's confusing how many versions.
she'll just have to shine, because I need to wear hazmat gear to use any spray. besides, she's not going to be like my male dolls who like to go
      around shirtless. :sweat
many thanks, Nancy for all the help.

Hi @Alewife! I'll certainly have a lot to report when she arrives. spam will happen.:apirate:

    7. Oh good, looking forward to the spam!

    8. She's home and I love her so much! beautiful resin. not a seam to be felt, and not shiny.
I've named her Iseul which reminds me of Isolde, one of my favorite characters, but Iseul is Korean for 'dew.' very apropos I think.
      and no tragic ending.

I've used eyes I consider the right proportion white to iris/pupil, but bright orange-brown which is not quite what I imagined, so they're muted in this backlit shot.
she's so fun to play with and dress. I find 7/8 wigs too big. slidey and too much hair. but, 6/7 is nice. I think the ideal would be 7 1/4" so I foresee some wig-making
      here in the 'studio.'
haven't tackled the shoe issue (say that fast six times) yet.

    9. She's really beautiful!

The wig fit is sort of hit or miss. 6/7 with a stretchy wig cap seems to work OK. If you find shoes that fit, I'd love to hear it. :)

    10. @Alewife - you're so right about the wig issue. most of my 6/7 fit, but most of my 7/8 are just too much hair for my taste. not sure I want to buy anything. she's that in-between size.
I'd love to make a short wig for her. very modern.
will get to the shoes this week and report back with any joy.

    11. She is lovely! I'm glad she isn't shiny! Mine was second hand so I don't know what "treatment" she has had in the past.

    12. @nancy_schroeder_ca - thanks! I love her slightly tan skin, but now I crave a white skin one. :drool maybe someday. too many layaways now to hunt for a grail.
I bought her from a dear friend who has literally given me rare dolls before, so this time we worked out a fair price. probably more fair for me, but I never see these girls for sale so we had no
guide. She takes such good care of her dolls. When I opened the box, it was like a new doll with everything in original wrapping.

of course I had to do a tiny bit of painting, some rosy lips, more freckles. :wiggle

I'm thinking she's 15 yrs. Past the awkward stage but not quite a women yet. nice range for style.

    13. Isn't it wonderful to get an "old" doll that looks brand new!

I think 13-15 is a great age range for that body. It's a wonderful body for a young girl. My WS Yumi came from the final sales at Efldoll.
My NS Dami came from a loving and caring collector.

    14. some shoes I like for her. those big, Minnie Mouse styles just don't look right for Iseul IMO.
not sure about that wig either, but it's fun. I've decided 6/7 Monique Gold fit her perfectly.

sandals by Leeke. sneakers by...? many years old. fit my Unoa boys.
ballet shoes in various colors from Sansha.
fab boots borrowed from Tonner Lara Croft.

      here's MoniqueG 6/7

    15. Hi!

May I ask which body is that new one your Yumi is on? I got a Yumi head and sleeping faceplate last year (snow skin) and was hoping they won't be floating forever :eusa_pray Actually I'm planning to get a Little Monica - Little Harmony body for her, but your lucky lady looks gorgeous with that body :drool

    16. Yumi is on the second Elfdoll body. I think there are more Elfdoll loose heads than bodies, so good luck!

    17. So it's another Elfdoll body! I must have known, there are some characteristic details on both bodies. But overall it looked very different from the first one, so I thought maybe it was another company.

Thank you so much for your reply! Looking forward to the day she'll be complete and introduced here ^_^

    18. Hi everyone! After scouring and hoping one day I'd find a yumi/dami - I did! I managed to snag both dami and yumi twiggy faceplates and she came on a planetdoll mermaid body. The thing is I'm really not a fan of the body - and once I took her faceplate off realised she is quite different to my other dolls, so probably can't even switch her to one of their bodies.

Does anyone have any body recommendations - and also - how! Her hook and the hole in her head is much smaller than all my other girls (peakswood, iplehouse, minifee)...

thanks in advance! Here's a quick pic of her - I am smitten. She still needs new eyes and wig :)

    19. Congrats on buying her! I had been looking at that one for awhile but was so scared about the mermaid part. I've never tried doing a hybrid before, but I'm really excited to see what you do.
Here are some things I had looked at. Seems like a minifee body might be a good route as that is the one that continually popped up.
      Elfdoll Dami / Minifee hybrid
      Elfdoll Yumi hybrid
the joint — tabitha (tibi) 23/F elfdoll dami/minifee hybrid ...

Also this is a comparison of sizes and I really wouldn't be surprised if a Unoa body would work, but you would probably have to look into the neck part first. I think that body would be really cute for sure.
MSDs Unoa Hybrid, Elfdoll Dami Tan, Minifee Cloe andUnoa Lusis
Again congrats! I am so obsessed with the Yumi sculpt. Someday I'll find her. Till then I'm going to live vicariously through your exciting plans!

Edit-I found one elfdoll/minifee hybrid video on YouTube, but unfortunately it's not in English so it wouldn't be much help and it doesn't really show how the neck and head work together even with the language barrier.

    20. what a pretty girl. I have such fun with my Yumi.
Your Twiggy would look so cute on a Unoa body. Easy to find clothes and shoes for.
      congrats.
      :daisy

    21. Hi @Meggethann - thanks for all the info - very helpful! The mermaid body could have been so good - it's a great concept, but in my opinion was poorly executed.... which is such a shame.

My friend is going to take a photo of the Unoa neck for me so I can see what it's like :) I've also decided I need TWO bodies (my bank!! arrgh...) as I they will be twins - they both have such different personalities. :)

@petiteballerine - I agree - she would look super cute on a Unoa body. I want something a bit teen/child like which is why I was leaning towards Peakswoods originally.... :)

She really is the cutest sculpt - I'm so glad I have her!

    22. Very cool! I have seen a lot of people do that and that has always been my plan if I ever get my hands on those sculpts. Keep us posted!

    23. @valee.anne congratulations on your pretty Yumi! I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with her.

I've been thinking of trying the Dollmore Ballerina Kid body with an Elfdoll head: Dollmore.net :: Everything for Doll & more I like that the body is slender and immature-looking, since I always visualize the Lovelies as young teens.

      • x 1
    24. That's an interesting idea! I have a floating Elfdoll head and may need to try it on my ballerina body.

      • x 1
    25. Let us know if it works! It seems like such a pretty body. :)

    26. a ballerina Yumi! that would be so cute.

    27. Please let us know if you get this and if it works out, I would love to know.

Especially because....GUYS!!! I found a yumi and dami in the MP! Yay! When the sale originally went up the seller didn't want to do layaway so I had no chance, but she relisted it yesterday and said she would consider it. We were able to work out a deal! Ahhh! So happy! Put my first layaway payment in with the seller last night. I'm so unbelievably excited. I can have my twins now too! So @valee.anne keep me posted with what you come up with for a second body too because the one I'm buying only has the one body as well. So I will be on the hunt for a body too. I have a ways to go to pay them off, but I really am so happy. I've been looking for a long time. Dami and Yumi are just the most precious sculpts. I kinda can't believe they are really going to be mine!

    28. @Meggethann that's exciting! It's getting so hard to find the Lovelies. Congratulations, I hope you get them home soon!

      • x 1
    29. What size clothes typically fit the elfdoll body? Regular MSD? Are minifee clothes too small?

I officially paid off my layaway. My dolls ship out tomorrow! I will only have the one elfdoll body and will be searching for another body for the second head. This is the first time I will have a floating head. Haha. I heard once you start, the heads just start piling up. I'm really hoping that doesn't happen. Still not sure what body I'll choose, but I definitely will want to make it happen soon so I don't start a floating head problem. This will also be the first time I have dolls arriving without clothes so that is why I'm asking about what would fit.

I'm so excited! Can't wait for them to get home!

    30. Thanks for posting! I was trying to remember who I was supposed to try on the Dollmore body!

      • x 1
    31. @Meggethann - slim MSD size fit best, like Unoa or Serendipity. the odd Tonner kimono or loose coat might work too. I just saw a Hardy Boys coat on an IH FID woman. perfect.
so go through your stash of small doll clothes.
      congrats on your girl(s.)

      • x 1
    32. Great! Thank you!

    33. So my dolls arrived! But...I didn't realize I was getting two faceplates and a body. Haha. I should pay better attention. Now I am not disappointed at all because I have both Dami and Yumi original faceplates in all their glory and I'm obsessed with them. However my grand plan for twins has become quite a bit more difficult. Cause now I don't just need a body, I need to find a head back which seems almost impossible without buying another faceplate. Does anyone know if these faceplates fit on other dolls that have faceplate mechanisms like bimong? I looked at unoa and that doesn't seem to have the same faceplate situation at all, but bimong might just from outer appearances. Or do you all think I'm better off searching for another elfdoll? I kind of feel like it might make more sense at this point to do that and sell the extra faceplate.

But in happy news...my dami and yumi faceplates and one elfdoll body are here and they are beautiful and mint condition and I seriously am in love! I will try to take pictures soon. I'm so busy at work right now that I've barely had time to even look at them, but the lady that sent them included a bunch of extras which was so super sweet. She even included an outfit with shoes!!! so she isn't sitting around naked! So nice! Some people in this hobby are just so incredibly wonderful! I hope she knows how incredibly loved they already are!!

Hope everyone else is doing well with their elfdoll projects!

    34. I join with congratulations to those arrived Lovely dolls !

    37. So this might be the silliest question, but I keep seeing people post differently on other boards and now I'm confused as to which is which. Can someone clarify which sculpt is Dami and which is Yumi? I know they are basically considered twin sculpts a lot and I think that is why a lot of people end up mislabeling them or confusing the two on posts, but I was hoping someone could clarify it on here for me.

I now have what I believe is a Yumi bjd head (faceplate and headback) in normal skin that arrived today. It was sold to me as Dami, but pretty sure it is the Yumi sculpt. I was looking for real skin, but I decided since I was really in need of a headback for my previous purchase of my realskin Dami/Yumi faceplates and elfdoll that I could have the headback blushed and then sell this faceplate. However right after I bought this head, I ended up having another seller contact me with another full elfdoll in realskin with the Dami head. So I ended up purchasing her on layaway as well. My new plan is to take my Dami faceplate that I already own and put it on that doll when it arrives and sell that doll's faceplate as that doll does not have an original faceup. I may keep it for trying out faceups of my own. Haven't decided yet. We shall see. So this new head in normal skin that arrived today, which was purchased before the new elfdoll showed up for sale, has a really pretty faceup and I think it is a default faceup. The realskin faceups had freckles which I think are so cute. However I always really liked the Yumi sculpts that didn't have freckles as well. So now I have this particular head in normal skin without freckles and she needs a body. Haha...so I'm debating what body I should get her and if I'm doing twins and a little sister as a family or triplets or what. I just know that this head is beautiful and she is getting a body.

Does anyone know what elfdoll normal skin matches? I had heard that elfdoll matched fairyland, but I don't remember which resin they were referring to or if it was just that the body worked for the head. She is actually pretty close to spiritdoll normal, but I think the body proportions would be odd and I haven't had a chance to even see if the doll's head would be compatible. Or does anyone have any other suggestions for a good match?

    38. Yumi and Dami are the same sculpt. Dami was NS and Yumi was WS. Yumi Twiggy was in Homme skin.I believe their were four face plates, open eye, half open, sleeping, and smiling.

    39. @nancy_schroeder_ca - I didn't know that - about four face plates. I have seen the sleeping and smiling faces but thought the smiling one was a different sculpt.
how cool. I always thought Yumi was an Asian girl hence the eyes. She's my favorite. And I thought Dami was the open eyed face. Duh. Thanks for clearing that up.
Were the sleeping face and smiling made in Homme skin?

      Iseul says 'Hi' to everyone.

    40. I have a pic on my computer of a "sullen" face plate that makes 5 faceplates so far :). My yumi/dami is realskin from the september 2012 release. Homme skin and real skin are not the same color.

    41. @aeryn - hahaha! I can't imagine her looking more sullen than usual. it's one reason I like her. that little pout.
The Elfdoll men I have ( Mir & Christian Bale sculpt) were homme and although they're pretty old, they do match my Twiggy
Yumi pretty well. I like the color for her.
so five faceplates to look out for next year. :chomp:

    42. Oh wow...now I'm really confused. Haha. I have to really lay them out and look at them when the last doll arrives. The first order arrived and I believe it was the twiggy release, but it has both open eye and half open eyes with freckles. Neither are smiling, but the skin is referred to as real skin so I think is that was meant to be the homme skin? This new head has the half open eyes and is referred to as normal skin, but it's very pale. And the last doll has open eyes and is not smiling. Anyway...I think the sculpt is pretty and I definitely don't have any smiling version. Maybe people can spam some pics of their dolls to help.

    43. Save to say...I'm officially more confused. The mystery of the Dami/Yumi sculpt. I'm beginning to see why it is mislabeled. So we are up to potentially five different faceplates now?

    44. hi all....just popping in....I used to have a Dami.....and Yumi, had them twice actually and I am currently mourning not having them and looking to see if I can add her back into my collection. I am so sad though I thought elfdoll was supposed to be re-releasing or releasing new molds, but it looks like the site is still down and no indictation of it coming back yet?

    45. @Meggethann could you possible have Amy? She looks very similar. The main difference is that Amy has an eyelid crease, and Dami/Yumi does not.

Glad you mentioned the sullen faceplate @aeryn . It's one of my favorites. She looks so cranky!

@jenniekay sad but true, the Elfdoll site never came back, and I don't know if it will. :(

Rainman sends out an occasional newsletter to his figure art customers. Apparently his father passed away this year, plus he broke his collarbone in a motorcycle accident and was unable to work for a while. This was all for 2016 though, and doesn't explain where Elfdoll-the-company has been the last two (three?) years. He and DK are still working together, which is something I'd wondered about.

    46. I am pretty positive I don't own Amy, but I posted a compilation pic from the seller photos since I don't have my last girl home yet and I'm waiting to do a proper photo shoot till I have everyone. I never know how to get my photos to load on here so here is my Flickr: https://flickr.com/photos/143296769@N04/sets/72157673553456633
You guys tell me which ones I have. Haha.

    48. OK....someone might have to pinch me......I have just paid for Twiggy Yumi with two faceplates, original owner......I'm dying!

Does anyone know with the twiggy skin tone, if there is a good hybrid match so I could give the second faceplate a body?

      • x 1
    49. Welcome to the elfdoll family! Seems like we are looking for bodies. Is the twiggy skin tone considered the real skin or the special homme skin mentioned a couple posts up? If it is real skin I am also still looking for a good match too. I have heard fairyland minifee bodies might work. I'm thinking about getting one as an option for one of my girls.

Just FYI for doing your hybrid-you will need to find a headback if you have two faceplates and not two heads. I fell into that when I bought my first elfdoll. Makes hybriding a bit trickier. But people have done it.

    50. So I went way back and found @nancy_schroeder_ca post with a bunch of link's to the old websites with the faceplates. Thought I would repost because it was really helpful for me!

      ::: ELFDOLL INC. :::

      ::: ELFDOLL INC. :::

So those are the faceplates I could find from her posts.

Was the twiggy version, the one that came with freckles on its default faceup? And that was Dami correct?

I feel like I want an elfdoll army now. I wish he was still making dolls. I find his bodies to be some of my favorites actually. I really hope I can hunt down some more.

    51. Here are the sullen and smile plates ::: ELFDOLL INC. :::

Rainman used to have an archive of the doll with the original add for Twiggy ad but the link is not working now.

      • x 1
    52. Thank you for posting that! Omg I wish they still existed! $15 for a headback. Can you imagine!?! Here I am spending hundreds of dollars hunting this stuff down. Sigh. The things we do in this hobby.

The sullen and smiling faceplates are so cute. I didn't even know about some of the other sculpts like Anthony or Pink. Does anyone own those?

    53. Congratulations @jenniekay !

It's great seeing those old web pages again.. but sad, too. And no wonder we're confused about Dami and Yumi, I see even Elfdoll labeled them both Yumi on that one page.

Twiggy had freckles, yes! I can't remember if she's real skin or homme skin. Homme is a tough one to match. The closest thing I've seen is Impldoll old (non-UV) real skin. I'm not sure if they have a suitable 1:4 body.

@Meggethann I have Anthony! I love him. He always looks like he has anger management issues. :)

      • x 1
    54. Oh please spam some pics of Anthony! I would love to see him!

Ok so what I have determined then is I have in my collection the Twiggy Dami with open eyes and half open eyes faceplates in real skin since they have default freckled faceplates. Then I have a Yumi with half open eyes. I was told normal skin, but this is pretty darn close to white...so I'm going with Yumi on this one. Haha. In the end, they are the same sculpt so it's all good. And the one on layaway to me is what I think a regular Dami open eye faceplate. I am told this is in real skin. I will have to compare it to the twiggy ones and their resin and the other head do see where it fits. Maybe that one is actually normal resin. From what I can see in pictures, it is not the twiggy version, but it might have been and just not have the default faceup anymore.

What was the homme skin even about? Was it like a real skin? Or a tan or something?

    55. Homme was the color they originally used just for their SD boys (hence the name). It's a pale pinkish tan, similar to real skin but pinker.

Twiggy used to be the only Lovely done in a color other than normal or white, but I think toward the end, when Elfdoll was having the annual head sale, heads were showing up in different colors. At least that was my impression.

    56. hmmm......ok the seller I just bought my girl from said she was a Twiggy Dami/Yumi but I asked if she had freckles and she said she didn.t.....so now I'm wondering if she was the second release in the real skin? If I showed you guys a pic from the seller would anyone be able to tell? I can only tell she's not white skin....and she is coming with a wig and eyes (not sure if that came with her when she was sent from Elfdoll)

    57. Please show a pic and let's take a look. I'm curious. Because I think my doll on layaway right now is a twiggy right now without freckles so I'd be interested to compare it to your picture and see.

Did your seller say your doll is coming with her default faceup?

    58. Oh wow...well then maybe I don't have Twiggy at all. This gets more and more confusing I swear. Now I have no clue what the twiggy one looks like. Cause that looks like exactly like the first elfdoll and two faceplates I bought. Freckles and all. Even the eyes match.

So does anyone have a picture of twiggy?
