Elfdoll Catsy discussion thread 2

Love Bogart's picture! I hope he had a good new year.

I hope everyone here had a good holiday season (I was down with the flu, so . . . ) But your photos did help to make me feel better.

Does anyone have any big plans for their Catsys for the New Year? I know that we can't buy any more (just yet) but are there any plans for new photoshoots or maybe even building them a house or living space?

Sorry about your flu, ​spensers_mom, hope it didn't lead to this !! That reminds me I should probably get my flu shot.
I have no particular Catsy plans this year. I have to admit that I spend more of my time and money on my bigger dolls.
But I still get catalogues of miniatures that are very tempting. There are a couple of items I'd like to get someday and then my kitties will get more attention!

I always have photo ideas for my cats, but getting them to work out is the hard part. I'd like to work on getting better backdrops for my shots and a bigger light tent. No plans on building any homesteads for them yet. Heck, I think I'd have to build a Catsy apartment building now, considering how many I have - lol!

Thank you for the nice comment, phanuel! I chose this shot of him because his blushing was so noticeable in it. Thought it helped to make him look a bit flushed from his champagne.

I can certainly see why you've been spending time with your big dolls - your pics of them are so lovely and artistic! But I do hope those catalogs inspire you to do a few Catsy pics, too - they're always really wonderful!

 

Miniatures.com is having a 25% off sale so I decided to finally order the two things I've been eyeing for awhile. Which means I should be taking some Catsy pics soon.
But it is definitely easier to photograph the larger dolls because all I have to do is dress them up pretty and shoot. With the smaller dolls I feel I have to set up a scene with multiple props and then it becomes complicated.

 

Sounds like a great sale, phanuel! Congrats on your purchases! I know what you mean about it being harder to take pics of Catsy cats compared to larger dolls. It's nice to just be able to dress a doll and take a pic without trying to set a scene, but I must say, you've set some rather fantastic scenes before and I'm looking forward to seeing your new Catsy pics, when you're ready!

Wonderful photo, phanuel! Great posing, too! Cute how that bird is looking so inquisitive - nice touch! That fountain looks great, too, as does the "brick" ground underneath!

This pic is great, too, phanuel! Wonderful composition and posing! That fountain is so neat - love how it looks like water is really flowing, too! I'm also quite taken with those adorable birds. They kind of remind me of the the old Christmas stop-motion specials, like Rudolph. They're so charming!

 

There are several styles of fountains at miniatures.com--all lovely. As I mentioned earlier I'd been eyeing them for awhile. The birds are old. They belonged to my husband's aunt. She had a lot of little notions still in unopened packages that my mother-in-law gave to me. I've already used a number of them in my photos.

Had to come back and add this--my last idea for the moment. Now I'm going back to my big dolls.

Yikes! That's not good news, DanceCat, but thanks for the heads up on it! I haven't been in touch with Elfdoll since I thanked them for sending me that outfit and feet parts for free, after cancelling my order due to not having the other outfits in stock. So I knew the clothes would be going away because it sounded like they didn't have anything left and their supplier was no longer producing them. Anyway, no mention of the Catsy cats going away at that time, but the grey male was "sold out" for several months before any of the others, then the grey female. After them, the white female. All they had left were the orange kitties and the white male before they removed them. So sad to hear they may be gone for good. Like you said, sales are great, but gone for good? Not so good.

 

I had dreams of trying to get Elfdoll to make a jointed torso Catsy in grey skin via a bulk order ... if they stop making them, that plan is going to move from dream to fantasy. I was so hoping to make my twins into triplets... even had a name picked out.

 

But... they are not in the shop, and they have not been since it was announced that they were going to be discontinuing their dolls.

It is a real pity if there will be no more Catsys ever.

 

Love your pictures, phanuel! Such wonderful props . . . your pictures and the notice that Catsys will be discontinued make me realize I'll have to get one sooner rather than later.

 

I am not sure if I am sad or glad that there is no white or grey Catsys... I have no money for one even at the discount since they took away layaway... so a final chance to get one and not being able to would drive me crazy!

I am hoping they will bring them back occasionally, perhaps mixing up the colors and sculpts. I would LOVE an original Catsy in grey!

 

I've been admiring phanuel's catsys on the games thread for a while now, so very pleased to have taken delivery of my first (rehomed) catsy, who is settling in v well! Though am now gutted reading this thread that there may be no more companions for her, such a shame if they are discontinued as they're such lovely elegant dolls...

It is sad that Elfdoll is discontinuing Catsys, but it isn't the first time. My first Catsy was a black one that I purchased from Junky Spot. When I got interested in the white ones, they were no longer being sold but I found one on the DoA marketplace.
It was after that that Elfdoll started selling white Catsys again and adding the boy, reminisce heads and other styles and colors.

 

Thanks phanuel - and that's good to know re the possibility of future catsys (am v envious of your gorgeous bunch - and the assorted wonderful collections in this thread!)... My solo catsy has had a quick costume change and is now settling into her new bedroom:

 

Oh, shrinkomatic, I love her fluffy tail! Mind if I ask where you got it or how you made it? I thought about using faux fur, but it seems that route can get too bulky for tiny Catsys.

 

Eek, I really wish I could help / claim credit - but it's attached to the elfdoll outfit it came with (a little white leotard) - it looks to be some kind of very fine fake fur (but it is tiny), sorry!

Oh, yeah! I remember seeing that outfit now! Thanks, shrinkomatic! I will just have to keep looking. I do love a good hunt.

 

I went ahead and ordered a few things from Elfdoll since it's the last chance and everything's on sale. No dolls though. The only one I might have been interested in is already sold out. I did get the last two Catsy outfits and some stuff for my bigger dolls.
I'm really anxious to see what Rainman is going to come up with next. He is very creative.

 

Congrats on your order, phanuel! I didn't order any Catsy items, but I did place one for an Adel head. I have an earlier sleeping Olivia, so I thought it would be nice to have the option of having an awake head for that body, too. Like you, I'm looking forward to seeing what the future holds for Elfdoll. Just holding out hope it includes a new cat, too.

That's great news, phanuel! And thanks for posting it, too - it made me go check my order, since I don't get email notifications from Elfdoll for whatever reason. But yup, mine shipped, too.

My Elfdoll order arrived this morning and I'm so happy I ordered that Adel head - they did such a beautiful job on the face-up and even included pretty blue eyes. I hope your package arrived, too, phanuel, and you're happy with everything!

 

Congrats, Cattwo, still waiting for mine, but it could come today. I got a package of clothes and stuff from Alice's Collections yesterday so I'm happily busy with that right now.

Ha! Just got the Elfdoll order! Everything looks great, I'll be playing with them later.

Finally got around to playing with my Elfdoll order.

Congrats on getting those two fashions, phanuel! Your cats look great in them, too! Love that wig you put on Phaedra - really gives her a Gainsborough vibe. I was amazed at the detail on them, in person - the lining on his tiny jacket and how impressive that little gown is - they definitely make wonderful additions to any Catsy or tiny Elfdoll collection!

 

When I realized this was my last chance to get these outfits I decided to go for it. They are beautifully done. I didn't want to take the time to get those boots on Purley so I put them on Phaedra instead and they look really cute on her! He's wearing his black-shoe feet which actually go quite well with the outfit.

 

I love those outfits phanuel - they look fab on! I spotted them on elfdoll's site and thought how gorgeous they were when I was browsing, slightly panicked by the thought my catsy may never have a feline friend - or at least that's the justification I needed to put in an order for one of the remaining ginger girls
And your pic also makes me think of lovely spring days Cattwo, just in time for (finally!) a lovely spring day here!
While my catsy is waiting for her friend to arrive, she's making a new - tempermentally suited - friend, in the shape of Marvin the paranoid android...

 

Awww... great atmosphere! Your pic makes me think that Elfdoll should have come up with a steampunk Catsy outfit!

 

Another terrific pic, shrinkomatic! You have such a wonderful set-up there! I agree with phanuel - it really creates a great atmosphere and that little android friend of hers is cute, too! And thank you for your nice comments regarding my pic, as well - really appreciate it!


I also like your idea of a steampunk outfit for Catsy, phanuel! Just need some small watch parts and such - could probably come up with something great!

 

Sorry to hear that, DanceCat! That would have me more than just "a little miffed", to be honest! I hope you're able to get one eventually - either through Elfdoll offering them again someday or maybe through the marketplace here or on ebay. Good luck to you! I'm still trying to get a couple more tuxes for my other males. So bummed I waited so long to try and get them.

 

Congratulations on your orange boy and those two elves, too, DanceCat! Something to take the sting out of missing the female and I love the boy - he's wonderful! I think you'll be very happy with him! I only have one elf body but now have two heads for it - Olivia's sleeping one and Adel's open eyed one. I think they're fun dolls, too. One of these days I'll have to take some pics of mine. I even have two of the sisters, too. They all seem to take a backseat to my Catsy cats, though. Something so special about those cats, so let's hope together that they will bring them back from time to time. I'd love for more people to be able to enjoy them the way we do.

There seems to be an orange catsy girl available again at the moment. Maybe someone backed out of his/her order?

Still my dream Catsy would be an original one in grey resin. Maybe someday they will re-release the Catsys and mix up the colors? I would like to see that happen.

Eek, that sounds v v disappointing with the reminisce head DanceCat, I hope one turns up for you (or even that they bring back multiple options to order on the sculpts, or hey, even some new ones!)... Though the boy and the elves sound like a v exciting haul - and fingers crossed on the head!
I finally got my shipping notice for my orange girl last week (only the awake head) - which also reinspired my dollhousing endeavours with a room suitable for the grown-up cats to hang out in (meant to look like an old-fashioned gentlemen's club) - so here's my currently solo catsy hanging out with a drink and waiting for her new friend to arrive!

 

Great set-up, shrink! But what is that lady doing in a gentlemen's club?
Those are some nice miniatures, I used to hit those sites all the time when I was setting up my Nero Wolfe displays. They have some wonderful things. I really like the flooring and wallpaper you chose.

 

What a wonderful pub, shrinkomatic! So many terrific pieces in it, too! It almost looks as if your white Catsy is waiting for the orange girl to show up. Congrats on getting your shipping notice for her - it will be a lot of fun for you to have another Catsy around! With Catsy cats, the more the merrier - especially in a pub setting!
