Elfdoll Catsy discussion thread 2

Jun 1, 2011

    1. So, as I was saying: Elfdoll forgot to include one of the dresses I ordered and they put two right calves on my white catsy girl. I sent them a picture and informed them of the dress. Oka, responded with concern. She said she will send out the dress and a left calf if I have no problem re-assembling it myself. EEK!!! Forgot about that part!

I had a miserable day yesterday so I didn't get to share everything with you guys. They sent me lots of presents!! They included a sleeping gray girl head! As well as two mirror/comb sets, a skateboard (keychain, purrfectly catsy scale), and the black ruffled swirly, gray dress. My package was chock full of gifts!! It was very nice! I'll have to show some picures soon.

We are already in a heatwave here. They keep promising a break but... and my a/c isn't working in my car. Anyway, I'd like to get my new cat-gang outside for some nice outdoor shots. I planned on doing the box opening outdoors but it was way too hot. I'll try to get some nice photos done asap. :whitetruffle

    2. I'm glad you started this new thread, DanceCat -- I was thinking of doing it but . . . . and I'm glad to hear your issues with the doll parts and clothes will be resolved.
I was thinking of ordering another Catsy but see that the Elfdoll website lists all the Catsys as sold out -- so they must be restocking or . . .

    3. Hey spenser, it does seem odd; every time I've been to the Elfdoll site the catsies are sold out. I believe their catsy ordering period is the 1st to the 15th of each month. Either I'm not paying good attention or they haven't been taking orders in some time. :nowords:

    4. I'm hoping it is just as you suggest -- that I too go to the site at the wrong time. Or maybe they are just now doing with their Tinies what they did with the larger dolls a while back.
Dare we hope for a new catsy??????

    5. I'm willing to say it's pretty safe to hope for a new Catsy!! I know that a few of us have put in requests to Elfdoll for specific catsies.
At this point I'm willing to announce it on the forum - I asked them for a Scottish Fold. Oka loved the idea and said she'd present it to Rainman but that he had other projects going so even if he liked the idea it would probably be a while.
I also wish they'd release a fat cat catsy. But then they'd have to produce a clothing line for it, so I doubt it will happen.

Let's keep our fingers crossed, eh? :eusa_pray

    6. Oh wow yes a fat cat would be wonderful

    7. Just want to do a shout out to Sher - thank you for closing the first Catsy thread and letting us have this second thread! :fangirl:

I also felt that the first Catsy thread had gotten too long and was happy to see DanceCat start this new one. The older thread will still be available should anyone wish to read those posts. Lots of great pics and info in it! A big thanks to all who contributed to making is such a fun thread and hope we can make this "part 2" just as much fun! :D

Congrats on all those great gifts Elfdoll sent along with your order, DanceCat! They are really great about that and it's nice to hear they'll be shipping out the dress they forgot and that left calf to you, as well! :kitty2

I like the idea of a fat cat but the clothes thing could be a problem unless Elfdoll made a lot of different outfits especially for it. My Catsies LOVE clothes! I guess I'm still pining away for a pink Catsy. If they don't decide to make one, I just may have to take matters into my own hands and create one. I just love the idea of a pink Catsy too much to let go of it easily. :kitty2

    8. Speaking of pink - Pink Panther has gone AWOL! I can't find him. :( I hope he hasn't run away. I feel terrible. He should've been there for the box opening, but I couldn't find him.

Ha-Ha!!! I be the first one to spam you!
I did Ivy's faceup today. I like it a lot. I gave her a lot of dark shadowing to accentuate her sculpt. I even pinky-blushed her paws!! :)

    9. Wonderful job with the face up, DanceCat!

    10. Thanks spenser, but I'm not sure. I keep looking at her. Something doesn't seem right. I didn't intend to get fancy with her, like I did with Shyla, but something isn't settling. Maybe I overdid it? I'll try to get better shots tomorrow.

    11. It might just be the angle you took the picture at, perhaps. Or maybe just the shadows cast by the camera?

    12. Looks like you did an excellent job on Ivy's face-up, DanceCat! It doesn't look overdone to me, but then perhaps you're seeing something I'm not. If I were you, I'd live with it, as is, for a few days and then see if it still needs any tweaking. And good luck with finding your Pink Panther! Wonder what he's up to that he's gone AWOL like that - perhaps he's off doing another advertising spot For Owens Corning insulation. ;)

    13. I think she looks fabulous DanceCat. I especially love the pinky paws. Look forward to more photos tomorrow

    14. Hey guys - STUPID ME!!! Pink was in the dollhouse the whole time!!! :doh Now why on earth would I have thought to look there???

Well, anyway, I found him and he is happily waving hello.

Remy decided to play with one of Chrome's hats and do a Jimmy Durante routine.

Pardon the still unfinished dollhouse. :| I haven't been able to paint the window frames a satisfying color. I wish I'd left them natural. I didn't paint the door and it matches the wallpaper just fine.
Initially I painted the window frames light blue but it didn't match at all. So I repainted them white pearl, which came out looking very yellowy. I gave up on everything considering I still need to paper that last wall! But shipping for one sheet of paper is ridiculous! I have to wait until I have the money to order a few items.

The Garfield (large) dollhouse is still on hold. I feel terrible about it. I put so much money and time into it and it's been idle. I've thought of dismantling it and throwing it away but I can't bring myself. It would be very difficult to sell it or give it away. And I really don't want to, it's just that our own house is so upside down right now that it's in the way. My feelings are displaced really. I can't get at it to work on or use it at all so in turn I'm feeling like I wish I just would have bought another smaller house. And if I buy another smaller house my fiance will get upset with me. Oy. What to do? :nosebleed

Cattwo, that was a funny you made about Pink Panther. But I am very glad that he's still working after all these years.

Thanks for the nice comments on Ivy's faceup, guys. I'll have to post a better photo of her.

    15. Fabulous photo. Love your family. The house wont eat anything you can keep it until you are motivated/have space to do it justice.

    16. imajica, you're funny, but you're right.

So many people do the bookshelf apartments for their tinies, I'm considering it an excellent space-saver idea! I am looking for bookshelves now. It seems all the craft stores in my area did away with their real wood shelves. :x

    17. So glad you found Pink safe and sound, DanceCat! I had to google to remember what insulation company uses him in their advertising. Owens Corning has a pic of them on their site. :kitty2

And don't go putting yourself down for not finishing your dollhouse quicker! They take a lot of time to do and I've know others with numerous unfinished dollhouses they're still working on years later. I even have a lighthouse kit still in the closet that I got at least 5 years ago. All I ever did was pull out the instructions and say, "Well, this is going to take some time." and into the closet it went - lol! It's half scale, though, so I've no incentive to finish it, as my Catsies would be too big. *_*

Hope we see more pics of Ivy soon! I think your face-up looks soft and lovely on her! :fangirl:

    18. Thanks Cattwo, I really was relieved to see him!

Elfdoll refunded me for the dress I bought saying they couldn't get the fabric needed. This is the dress they sent as a gift; I wondered if that was why they sent the gift dress. It would seem so. Oh well. I like the black dress so much more but the gift will do.

Oh, by the way, my meet up is this Saturday and I have almost all the props I needed for my BBQ set up. I figure I'll just do the set up anyway, even though I don't feel fully prepared; there are other props I still need/want. But what the heck! So, I promise pictures of my cat-gang.

    19. Have fun at your meet up this Saturday, DanceCat! Can't wait to see more pics of your cat-gang! :kitty2

    20. I got sent that dress as a gift because they sent my girl out later than they said. They do look after customers. It looks very va va voom on Portia.

      Portia by imajica63, on Flickr

    21. Portia looks so elegant in her lovely room and new dress, imajica.

I've been out of the loop for awhile. First I went on vacation, then got sick just before coming home, then I got all immersed in Mad Men--bought the dvds and had a marathon. Then I had to track down the new thread!
Anyway, it seems you guys have been busy and I'm all caught up with the posts now.
After watching all the Mad Mens, I got out my old magazines from the 1950s and '60s looking for ads, both for inspiration and to use as photo backdrops.
I've done one Mad Cat pic so far, hope to get around to doing more.

    22. imajica, she is lovely, I'm still  over the room set up!! So elegant!!

Phan, I'm so glad to finally see you. Haven't seen you in some time. You know, when I was a teenager, I always swore I'd have a Jaguar simply because it had a cat!!! I like your girl's ad, champagne and all! Could you imagine getting a brand new Jag for $5,625 today????!!!! :o :dance That would be highway robber (pun intended) :sweat

    23. Nice to see you back phanuel! Love your Mad Cat pic - it does a great job of capturing the feel of that period! I'm a big Mad Men fan, too. Really disappointed that the new season is postponed until 2012, but looking forward to it nonetheless. :kitty2

    24. Welcome back Phanuel. Mad Men is a series I keep promising to have a look at. That ad is fabulous.

    25. Thanks, all! I always liked the XK-E too. I'm not a car person but I could always recognize that one. Most models look pretty much the same to me.
I didn't start watching Mad Men until a few months ago. My daughter gave me the first season and I bought the rest. I grew up in that era and the show is pretty faithful to it. It's like a time machine for me. Plus I love the drama. Joan is my favorite. Christina Hendricks reminds me of my daughter.

    26. I think Joan may be everyone's favorite, phanuel. Have you see the Mad Men Silkstone Barbies they did? Even in doll form, Joan's still my favorite. :daisy

Here is that pic I promised you, DanceCat! :kitty2

      LOVE COMES IN EVERY COLOR
      [IMG]

    27. Sorry I'm not chiming in guys. I have no idea what that show is you all are referring to. I don't watch television :sweat. I only watch Criminal Minds and reruns of the Golden Girls. :aheartbea

cattwo, thanks!! They look great! The pink ones look like they have sparkles in them... or is that just the lighting?

As for the picture of my BBQ that I promised - well, I have to wait to try to link you guys to it from someone else. I took my camera but apparently forgot my memory card, luckily I keep my travel Sonly in that camera bag also, BUT I don't have a card reader for it and I can't find the wire to hook it to the computer. So, I cannot upload my photos!!! :doh :x I was so proud and happy with my little set up and couldn't wait to share it. :(

    28. Lolita kitties! So cute, especially on your gray girl, they go with her eyes.
(I have the Joan and Roger Silkstone Barbies but haven't taken any pics of them yet.)

    29. Thank you, DanceCat! Yes, the pink have embedded sparkles in the plastic - you have a good eye for detail! :kitty2

Sorry to hear that you forgot your memory card and couldn't take any pics from the BBQ, but hope you'll try to link us to pics others took of it! Would hate to miss out on seeing your nice set-up, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed someone took some great pics of it for you! :kitty1

Thank you, phanuel! My husband liked the gray girl the best, too. :kitty2

Even though the cats aren't wearing a thing except the glasses, this pic took me forever to set up and take. Getting the glasses on them right and sitting them, lined up with their heads held in position, felt like a mission impossible at times. Which only goes to show that the pics that look the simplest are often the hardest to do. :doh

    30. Ok friends, I didn't know how to link you directly to my photos from yesterday's meet. So, I redid the set up!!! :)
      Here's a preview:

Please view more in the Gallery! Thanks for your interest. :D

    31. Everyone's pictures are so wonderful!! I wish my migraine would go away so I could take Rosie out and take some. Keep them coming!

BTW I started building a new dollhouse for Rosie last week -- it's a Georgian style house. Hopefully she'll like it. (if not, my puki may have to move in!)

    32. Wow! I can see why you were so excited to share your BBQ set-up with us, DanceCat, it's absolutely wonderful! I love that gazebo and all those fabulous wicker-style outdoor furnishings! You added so many nice touches, too - like the little Weber grill and bucket full of ice cold drinks - really great job! :fangirl:

Thank you, spences_mom! And sorry to hear of your migraine - hope it goes away and stays away soon! I'd love to see more pics of your Rosie when you're able to take some! :kitty2

And congrats on starting your dollhouse! Georgian style is gorgeous - can't wait to see it! :fangirl:

    33. Thanks cattwo! There's a gallery thread with some closeups if you follow the link under my picture above. Just click on "Gallery" and it'll redirect you to my thread.

I got the gazebo as a Christmas present and decided to build around it. That white wire stuff is plentiful on ebay and on the miniature sites; I knew I'd find many matching pieces.

spencer, good luck with your new dollhouse! Hope you'll share. :D

    34. I just thought DanceCat . . . if you are any good with FIMO, I have some various instructions on how to make dollhouse scale sized food and some of it might be good for your BBQ -- or for other set ups.

If you -- or if any of the other people here! -- would like, I could scan the instructions and send the interested parties the scans.

I'll see what types I've got and maybe give a list in a post and then whoever (whomever?) is interested can let me know.

    35. I always wanted to minor in English. Still can't get through the whole who/whom, affect/effect, etc. puzzles!! :x

Anywhoot. Spencer, YES, I'd love to have your instructions, it's funny to come in here just now and find your offer as I was just on another forum looking at someone's clay food and thinking I really need to get back into sculpting - it would save me loads of cash to make things myself!
      Thank you much!! :D

    36. Will do. I will write up a list of what I have, post it here and then you -- and , of course, others here who may be interested -- can PM me for the scans.

It may take a few days to do up the list, though. Right now I am dealing with my parents' estates tax returns (both of them died in 2010) and the paperwork is . . . well. . . .overwhelming -- and I have the help of a great accountant and lawyer!

I'll post the info as soon as I can . . . by Saturday hopefully.

    37. Here's the other pic I took this past weekend. It's Lucy May's fantasy to have a wedding just as her great-great grandcats did:

Of course, Lucy May is quite jealous of that gorgeous gazebo, DanceCat! She would have held her wedding up at your wonderful BBQ, had she known. ;)

The wedding gown Lucy May is wearing is a vintage Dawn one and is a little long, otherwise it fits her well. :kitty2

    38. I would have been honored to hold Lucy May's wedding at my gazebo, cattwo!! My cat-gang is just as sorrowful that they missed the ceremony!

The dress and the picture are great cattwo, the dress is really quite lovely on her. :D
Poor Bogart - he's got this look like he's really not sure what's going on or how it all got started! LOL ;)

    39. Lucy May is a beautiful bride Cattwo (and I recognize the dress . . . I am a Dawn/Pippa fashion fan)! I second your thoughts about Bogart, DanceCat. He does look like he's not too sure about this whole process!! (Maybe he's worried about the possible pitter patter of petite paws! - Sorry, I had to . . . )

    40. You're right, DanceCat, the gazebo would have been a perfect spot for a Catsy wedding! But I'm sure it was a wonderful ceremony anyway. :kitty2
That wedding dress is so lovely, I'm sure Bogart is just stunned by Lucy May's beauty and how lucky he is.
I love that picture on the wall too.
I was tagged on flickr to list my 10 favorite songs and had to take a photo to go with them. Since most of my music is classical, I felt that a couple of classical cats would be perfect. The shot was inspired by an old Tabu perfume ad.

    41. Wonderful picture, phanuel -- as always!

    42. Thank you, DanceCat! Your set-up is perfect for a wedding - it's so pretty! But don't feel bad about missing the ceremony because this is just Lucy May's fantasy. By Bogart's expression, it's clearly not his - lol! ;)

Thank you, spencers_mom! I like Dawn, too, even though I only had one as a kid. A lot of the Dawn fashions work for Catsy except for the length on gowns and pants. Yes, Bogart doesn't look too happy about starring in Lucy May's fantasy wedding - maybe you're right and he's not ready for kittens yet. But boy, it would sure be fun if Elfdoll made kittens! :kitty2

Thank you, phanuel! That picture was from an eBay seller and is very nicely made.

Now for some well deserved praise for your pic - I love it! You have your cats posed perfectly! Purley is looking so attentive - like he's looking deeply into her eyes! Very romantic feeling to it and great composition! I'm unfamiliar with the Tabu ad (or just can't think of it at the moment) but if that's what inspired you, I'm very happy it existed! :fangirl:

    43. Glorious photos everyone. Love the Dawn wedding dress , she looks as gorgeous as Bogart does scared. Portia would not eat barbeques because the smoke would get in her hair but a number of other little ones in this house are grabbing sausages and heading your way as we speak. Just LOVE dioramas it is more than half the fun of tinies.

Phanuel I love your photos, not only is the content always such fun but you manage to create such a feeling for the message you want to say in them.

    44. imajica, I adore your non-stop sense of humor!!!
You know, Shyla, my gray girl, is pretty priss (stuck up). As part of my storyline the other catsies usually pick on her because she's so uptight. But as far as the BBQ goes - she'd just spend double time grooming afterward. LOL! She doesn't mind spending any extra time on herself :XD:

Phanuel, I like the picture. Amazing how Cattwo's Bogart looks so "uh-oh!!!" in her picture and your Purley looks so "that's right, meow baby" in your photo. I love when our dolls capture the mood!

    45. Thanks for the link, phanuel! It's a great ad but I must admit, I like your rendition even more! :fangirl:

Thank you, imajica! I love that gown, too. I think there is another Dawn wedding gown, done in different style and pink or peach colored, which would be nice, too, but I don't see it very often. The white is fairly common. :kitty2

    46. Wahh you guys all do amazing things with your Catsys! I love them D:

I have a Orange on layaway and only have $100 left. I am SUPER excited!!! I already want a white Catsy toooooo!!

I love love love love all of your photographs and cannot wait till i can join in the fun <3

    47. Congrats on your new girl Beany, you are going to love her so much!

It seems the white catsy girl is the second of choice to the orange girl. Sadly, I must admit I haven't warmed up to mine yet. I think it's her faceup. I am thinking to redo it. She just doesn't look anything like I had imagined. She looks very ... "disturbed."

    48. Congratulations on your orange Catsy, Beany! :cheer And thank you for the nice comments! It's always exciting waiting for a special doll to come and I hope you have your Catsy home with you very soon! The orange one is very sweet and I love the white one, too. Well, I really love all of them, since each one has its own special personality. They're also a lot fun to take pics of and I look forward to seeing pics of your Catsy, too! :kitty2

    49. COOL OPERATOR
      [IMG]

The hot weather brings out the COOL in Bogart! :kitty2

    50. Now Cattwo, you KNOW I'm going to have to rattle you for where you got those awesome duds and especially that jacket!!!!!!!!!! Is that the Kelly Grease jacket? Are those custom pants?

Really lovin' this picture!!! If I let Panthea see this she's going to be after a date with your Bogey! Just what I need! - little black and white kittens all around!! :o :D
      LOL

I really love this picture!! :love The only thing missing: he's not a long haired cat LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL :sweat

    51. Fantastic photo. Bogart just looks so cool!

    52. What a wonderful picture! Bogart looks like he's a rebel with a cause!

    53. He's totally smokin' hot!!! I can't stop coming in to look at him! :aheartbea

    54. Sorry, I'm new and I'm trying to figure out how big/little these guys and gals are. They fit in 1:12 scale furniture, so how tall are they (inches)?

    55. Hey, welcome to the crazy cat-lady bunch! LOL They are 5.5 inches (14cm) tall. They also fit into most dollhouse clothing like Heidi Ott. They can wear Bratz Kidz clothes, Barbie's Kelly clothes, pukipuki clothes. It's just that most of the kelly and puki stuff is a little short. But most works quite well.
If you go back to the first post of this thread there's a link to the original catsy thread and you can skim through all the photos there.

    56. Thanks for the nice comments, DanceCat! You know, at first I thought it had to be from a Bratz because I have another jacket similar to this one and it was smaller, but you're right! I just checked it and there is a label inside that says "Barbie Collector" on it. So yes, this is the jacket from Kelly, as Sandy, from the Grease set. The pants are by Marsh, who sadly passed away in March. They're one of three pairs I purchased during her sale last summer, thanks to phanuel for giving the head's up about it. Don't know if anyone else is making pants for tinies anymore.

And hey, I'll send Bogie up, if you can guarantee some kittens out of it!

Thank you for your nice comment, imajica! Really appreciate it! :D

Thank you for the nice comment, spencers_mom! Really appreciate it! Not sure what "cause" Bogie has, but he certainly comes across as a serious dude in this one, doesn't he? ;)

Aww - thanks again, DanceCat! Really glad you enjoyed seeing this pic! I took it because another board's picture theme was "Show us your Men and Boys" and there were these super hot pics of Fashion Royalty male dolls looking all hot and sexy. Not having many male dolls, I figured, "Hey, Bogart can show off his chest, too, right?!" Maybe he can't quite pull off the "hot and sexy" look, but he definitely has that "cool look" cornered!

Hi, pecanpie! Welcome to the Catsy thread! Catsy is 14 cm or 5 1/2 inches tall. Most 1:12 pieces work very well with Catsy dolls, although sometimes things can be a little big or a little small, depending on the maker of those items. :kitty2

    57. Bogart's so cool he's icy hot! What a great pose and expression. You'd think these cats would always have the same expression, but it's all in how you photograph them. Wonderful pic, Cattwo!

    58. Thank you for your nice comments, phanuel! I agree with your observation regarding how their expression seems to change depending on how you photograph them. Your pic, up top, illustrates that perfectly. In it, it appears he's mesmerized by his lady's beauty and deeply in love. Very focused expression. In mine, he comes across as a rather narcississtic male. Like he's way too sexy for his shirt - lol! Even though I like all the various Catsy cats, my favorite will always be this first Catsy sculpt. Just something about it! :kitty2
