Elfdoll 14cm TinyDoll discussion Part 1

Apr 26, 2008

    1. Well...for reshape resin can be used apoxie... don't need baking process and it's really hard when cured
I thought that monnaemi sister had flat chest..... it's not flat, but it's not jointed like catsy...

    2. ah i see, about apoxie.
yes that's right, if you want a jointed torso maybe best to not get a monnaemi sister. and as the chest is not flat anyway you will have to sand off on either torso, so you can just aswell get a big chested girl ;)
then again that will be a man with a very small taille/middle torso, not very manly.

in case you need to know where you can still get some girls, here is a post i made some days ago in another thread about elfdoll tiny availability:
      http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4370829&postcount=22

and hey i just realized, maybe you could just get another black catsy, as the resin is black. of course i'm not sure how it will look when sanded..
i saw some on ebay also

    3. I think you are best off with a Dollmore Banji boy.. they have boy bits and you don't have to do any modding on an otherwise HTF dollie

    4. I received my second BJD after Puki Lily - an elfeoll Adel. I was so disappointed with her. She won't do anything but sit or "splay", her knees just look like they're not even part of her leg, and I can't even get her wig on her head.

I got her a few days ago, and I put her away in her box already. I'm so disappointed - I love the size, and the face is so pretty but she doesn't doesn't seem "put together".

    5. You can use pipecleaner pieces in her legs to help her pose better. I've done this with all of my dolls and it seems to have helped them.

    6. Are her knees not fitting properly? I had two tinies come with knees that were warped at casting (I think probably when they removed the limb from the mold). There is a super simple solution. Just heat the knee/leg (protecting her face with a towel) with a hair dryer and the mold will go back to it's original shape, the knee will slip back into her thigh and all will move properly again. Resin has a memory, so when it gets out of shape it an be fixed. (my cat bit my doll, and a poked hole came completely back with heat from the hairdryer!) it's amazing what you can do to repair things!

      Good luck!

    7. Mayhallk, I sort of know what you mean - compared to my pukis, my poor Lyn does seem to "lounge" a lot, even after wiring. I love her anyway - she's just my lady of leisure around here! Always curled up on the couch in her room box with a good book and a cup of coffee. :)

    8. mayhall, catclaw is right about the pipe cleaner. It works really well. I mightn also suggest, if you really like the size and the body type, to get a Kai or Olivia. They have a newer body and pose beautifully. I must say, though, that none of the Elfdoll girls pose as well as the Pukis because of the magnets in the Pukis.

Please forgive me for any typos. We are camping at Disney and all I have is is DH's notebook.:)

    9. Thank you for all the suggestions.. I had a Banjii but it's not what I am looking for.
I love the black catsy, but... not for modding! she is soo precious! And I am broke -_-
I will look for another elfdoll girl , maybe jointed so I will sculpt only the chest piece :)

mayhallk: don't be so disappointed...elfdoll were one of the early tiny dolls and are not so perfect ( in posing) like pukis... But I still love my catsy ( with wired legs), as much as my incoming pukisha.

    10. I think the knees are the sexiest, look the best out of any dolls I've seen, that's why I think you have a blown out, non fitting knee problem. I hope you see my post above :)

    11. Here's some pics of her - I don't know, something seems wrong to me. And she came out of the box like this.

    12. Oh that's definately the problem that IngieBee mentioned...try the hairdryer idea and she should be fine. Also, wiring does help with poseablity...I'd also try the smaller wires in phone lines. Good luck with her, I hope you can fix her and fall in love with her. Adel is a sweetie.

    13. I will give that a try - it looks much scarier than that. It couldn't be such an easy fix....could it!?

    14. It can't hurt to try it! :) I don't actually own a hairdryer... :P

    15. So I did this, and it definitely seemed to help. She'll stand now. I'm not sure exactly how the knees should look when sitting, does anyone have a pic? I'm going to do it a little more in case it's still off.

    16. Nya, would a body from Carrie / Tinabear work ?
I know someone swapped heads with a elfdoll tiny
on her body on the flicker elfdoll group.

    17. mayhallk, I'm so glad the hairdryer fix worked (at least a little so far!). The problem with her knees was really shocking to me. I hope you get a better experience with the tiny girl from here on in. This forum is awesome for advice!

    18. jinjur... I was thinking that too! I will browse photos to check them!

    19. I know she has a boy body for her mina's
So it can't hurt to ask her !
      Good Luck !

    20. really Jinjur? I'd love to see a pic here of that.

    21. Yup, it's as easy as that, and fast too, doesn't take much :)

Wish I had a picture... here is one:

you do see a bit of the slot but shouldn't be bad... will try to take more pictures later!

    22. I finally made my new Lyn's glued on wig. The tinybear wig she came with was the only color that suited her...so I used the fur on it to make a glued on wig! (don't worry though...I have more headcaps just in case). the top still needed some work (she looked sort of bald on top) but I finally fixed it today and she looks great! I wasn't really falling in love with her with that huge bush on her head...but I love this little elf now...she's so elvish sweet. Now I need to find a name for her...and make more clothes for her...hehe.
Oh! here is a pic of her now:

    23. Here's a couple of sitting shots. Hope they help.

    24. Just thought I would show my Kai/Kaitlyn in her new eyes, they are the 6mm dreaming tree eyes from etsy. What do you think? I like. Thanks Catclawtub for the idea :)

    25. thought I'd do some more spamig of my beloved Mio: a little pirate:

    26. Yah, and it doesn't even take much/long, does it? As soon as they get warm enough, bang, they reshape and you're done! :)

Just remember, if one of your resins have an accident, you can repair a lot of it with the hair dryer :)

Once, someone posted about their puki that got chewed, and it really was amazing what they could repair with boiling the parts, but I think the hair dryer does just as good a job, and you don't have to take the doll apart :D

Oh, Catclawtub, your Kai looks so fresh and wonderful in her spring outfit! what a perfect print, and it's like a knit too! Amazing :D

    27. i really like all the pics you all have been sharing, here is one of my elfies :)

linnea is wearing a cinnamon-orange tinybear wig, i'm liking it on her right now! oni's white wig is by teseya, i think it fits her great.
