Elfdoll 14cm TinyDoll discussion Part 1

Apr 26, 2008

    1. Oh me too! I keep looking at the calendar and thinking..."still another week just to get to March"

    2. me "3", so restless, that i ordered a Secretdoll Root! and i have a big "costume" surprise a comin' heheheheheh........?

    3. look who arrived today........ it's WINKY! she is so much fun, and she's made herself right at home........ excuse the "crap" photo, i had just ripped her out of the box and plopped her down......... WINKY! (and a few friends)

    4. She's adorable Ally! Congratulations on getting her:)

    5. Congrats on Winky !!!
I know, I am trying to be good, but I am soooo
      restless!

    6. thanks guys, i can't stop playing with her, i thought maybe i would find the face "odd", but she's just so happy, she's irresistible.

    7. Yay! Miss Ally! All the adorable tinies! more pics please!

    8. I'm very restless....in fact I thought it was the menopause or something....!!! But yes, it could well be the feeling that we've been waiting so long! Or that's how it feels anyway!

    9. Awww congrats Miss Ally, she is really cute. I like her whole look actually.
And your Min is just adorable.

I've also been bad, and spent the money that I had saved in the hopes that Min would be released next month. Now I have to start over. I have a doll up on ebay and another in the marketplace, but nothing much happening. Although I have a ton of commissions to sew, I just need to get those done. I'm sure it'll all work out in the end!!!!

    10. congrats Miss Ally! She is so cute and what a lovely family she has hehehe. Please post more pics of winky ;)

    11. What a fabulous optimistic attitude to the dolly dollars issue.....one which seems to work to now I think about it....way to go Sharon!!!!!:D

Congrats on Winky, she is growing on me too, a very sassy young lady!

    12. Thanks Miriam!! I'll do my best. I have a terrible tendency to spend money like water....if I have it, then I spend it. I'm just sooo bad, and have been the same way since I was a tiny child...according to my mum anyway!!!!!

    13. [IMG]

Estelle looks like a wild child these days... :)

    14. Cute though, her wig is pretty. I've been so neglectful of Jin and my other dolls just recently and all they've done is model for me as I've been very busy sewing commissions, but hopefully I'll get around to them all soon. Having said that, they have quite a lot of clothes already, so they don't really need me to sew for them at the moment!!!

    15. I'm trying to save up for the new tinies too...and I know who they are...but I'm having a hard time...getting only a few commissions and haven't had much time to start making butterfly wings. Plus I really really want to make a glued on wig for my still unnamed lyn (gonna have to butcher the tinybear wig b/c it's the only color that suits) but I've been sooo busy with other things in life! I've got 3 part time jobs that I'm trying to schedule to fit together and I'm struggling...funny, I went from no job to 3 in a matter of weeks and haven't had enough time to even bond with my new girl (hence the no name). But I'm hoping to get her wig done soon and I hope it turns out well.

    16. Wow, Teseya. That's incredibly lucky to land three jobs when some people don't have any! It's really hard for some people right now. I spent the money I had saved, but it's okay because I'm going to try to sell two of my tinies to make up for it... I haven't bonded with them yet, so it's easiest this way.

    17. I found an Adel today -- they are going to ship her to me on Monday. I have a Puki, and a couple on the way, but I really like the Elfdolls too. I came to BJDs very recently, and they didn't seem to be available, but I found one and I'm excited to get her! I like tinies.

    18. Congrats mayhallk, you will love little Adel, these little Elfdolls are soooo tiny and delicate and yet have so much personality. I have a little Jin and am hoping to get her sister Min! I also have a couple of Pukis, an Orient Doll So and a Dollmore Elf Elly Eomji, I have been bitten by the tinies bug!!!

I hope you'll share photos when your little girl comes!

    19. Yeah, doing a happy little flamenca dance here, as my doll on ebay has a bid which means with the commission I've just finished, I will have the money for Min should Elfdoll release her in March......I just have to make sure not to spend it now...and also hope that they don't make them much more expensive than they were before!!!!!

      :thumbup:dance:sumomo:

    20. that's great Sharon, now just sit on your hands for a week, just a week, and maybe we will know something more concrete...... weeeeeee!

    21. So how do the Pukis, Orient Dolls, and Elly compare? Are any of them stand outs compared to the others? I'll have to look at the Dollmore's - I don't think I've spotted those yet!

I'm very excited to receive Adel - they seem very different from the Pukis body-wise?

    22. Guess it depends on what you're looking for. Yep, Elfdoll tinys are way different from Pukis...Pukis are designed to be children, Elfdolls are designed to be teen/adults. Here's a comparison with a Lilica, who is the same size/scale as a Puki:

Pukis and Orient Dolls are smaller and more childlike than Banji/Elly, and fit in Kelly clothing, so they're easier to dress. OD's are less expensive than Pukis, but Pukis are far more poseable and have more options with hands/magnets, etc. Pukis also have more expressive faces.

Banji/Elly is more of an older child doll, taller and thinner with a smaller head to body ratio, and more in scale with the Elfdoll set. I think Banji hands are the loveliest out of all the tinys I have, but her face is a little "dollish" to me. I think she looks beautiful in historical outfits.

(the doll in the first pic w/the pink dress and the doll in the second pic with the black wig are both Nissa, my Sylph, so you can see how the others compare)

    23. Sheena- yeah 3 is good...but I'm not sure if I can hold that many at this time...I'm etting burnt out already...but we'll see. I'm really looking forward to what the march editions will look like! I may even have enough money by then to just get one outright. which would be better? ordering from DDE or similar...or ordering from elfdoll dirrectly? Would think shipping would be more from elfdoll (unless they had a free shipping deal), but would DDE take longer? I hate waiting...(not that I'm not waiting now too...hehe)

    24. I can imagine it would be tough. I have a hard time too being in school and practically working full-time as it is. :P It'll be awesome if you manage to save enough by the time they are released. I personally like ordering from DDE because they offer layaway. I'm usually impatient too, but if it is a doll that is worth the wait, then I'm all for it! :)

    25. the pleasant thing with ordering from elfdoll is that they have free shipping for any orders over $250. the two times when i ordered from them directly it was an elfdoll tiny (first time min/linnea in spring 2007, second time olivia/oni in spring 2008) and they both were $265 (each) so that was all i paid. additionally i think you get the doll little earlier than when you order through US shops because i think elfdoll sends their directly ordered dolls out first and to the shops after.

of course if you want to use layaway then DDE or dollpeddlar is your choice, elfdoll doesn't have that.

    26. I prefer to go direct to Elfdoll because of the free shipping too. I ordered an MSD from them last year and as well as the free shipping, I got him roughly a month before friends in the US got theirs from a US doll shop, because yes, annina is right, they do tend to send out individual orders first. And it is such an advantage having the free shipping because he would have cost me approx another $45 in postage from the US. Plus my packages from the US tend to get more attention in customs than those from Asia for some reason, so I like to deal with the companies directly.

However, having said that, if I wanted something that was in stock at DDE or I preferred to do a layaway, I wouldn't hesitate from buying from them.

    27. Well, if they do free shipping I will definitely order directly from Elfdoll!

    28. i just went back to check if it's still so, and it is under "must read" and then "shipping fee":

here is the link to it.

    29. That's good then. And if by any remote chance that the tinies are cheaper this time around  we can always add a little something to bring the cost up.

So all we have to do now is wait. I'm finding this bit the hardest to do. When I have the money together I want to spend it, I'm soooooo bad!!!!

    30. I just realised something and am really annoyed with myself. I went to look on the Elfdoll website, just out of curiousity of course ;) and see that they have all the outfits in stock for the tinies at the normal price. Ok I know that I probably paid less in shipping but I bought one on ebay a little while ago for $40 !!! I'm such a dope, I should have looked on the Elfdoll site first!!!

Unless of course they've only just come back in stock?

    31. Don't be so hard on yourself, Sharon ;) I think you're right about them just coming back into stock as they weren't there when I last looked (a week or two ago).

    32. Thanks octarine. I see also that the shoes and feet are in stock. If Elfdoll bring out little Min soon, then I shall probably get some extra shoes.

      I just can't stand the waiting!!!! I think I need chocolate! :chocoberry:chocoheart:truffle:whitetruffle

    33. Sharon- if you buy a doll...you don't even have to bring the price up...it says: eithor doll or all products with total over $250. So both work if you get a tiny girl. I think I will do that...I just need to get enough money together...and I should do it soon...b/c I have a feeling these will go fast once they come out. (^_~ hint hint...still need to sell stuff to save)

    34. I wish!!

Yes, they have just come back into stock. I think they are gearing up for the release......

    35. [IMG]

I bravely put new eyes in Estelle today... I'm amazed at how much more mature she looks with these. They are 6 mm with small irises. :)

    36. Now those eyes look fantastic on her! Are they the ones ... shoot I forgot who, but someone was making and selling on etsy? Oh please do tell, because with that kind of result, I'd love to change out my kai's eyes!!! Yummy!

    37. Yep! They are from the Etsy seller... I went ahead and tried them. She's out of stock of the 6 mm at the moment. I can't wait to try more of them. They were only $2.50!

    38. wow! I never thought anyone would be able to find such nice eyes that are Kai's size (she's got miniscule eyes!) those are much better than any Kai eyes I've seen so far!

    39. Thank you Teseya! I was so excited when I found them. It was a risk worth taking, considering the price. I also bought a little pair of albino eyes, but I'm not sure I really like those. I might keep them in case I'm feeling creative. :)

    40. Oh wow, those eyes are gorgeous on her. Yes, I agree, the best I've seen so far, really lovely.

    41. Very beautifull eyes.

    42. Those eyes look great !

Just wanted everyone to know that Elfdoll plans to update their website sometime
soon in the future. Ms Cholong mentioned this to me. So I think the tinies will be
either before the update or after the update. So we are looking at March April for
sure. I guess I should be sewing ! LOL

    43. Hmm...I wonder if they had red eyes? Mio likes her cat ones...but basic ones with a regular pupil may be cool

    44. Teseya, I bought some albino ones for a dollar. The pupil is reddish pink and the eye part in light pink. I'll have to take some pictures of them soon!

    45. Beautiful eyes!! She looks lovely.

      Mary-Lee

    46. wow cool! geez...now I find that...after looking for ages for red eyes! where is the info/artist?
March/April? *sigh* still longer...but gives me time to save. It'll probably be after the update...'cause then they'll just add them in the update. It would be so awesome if they made them basic dolls!

      • x 1
    47. ach yes, basic elfdoll tinies would be great :aheartbea

      • x 1
    48. May i suggest basic Male tinies? Id like some Monnaemi brothers.

    49. I found them here... You could probably send her a message and request a pair. :) They only cost me $1!

    50. It is going to be soooo hard to be good and not spend my money if the dolls don't come out until late March, early April. I do so hope it is longer. That money burns a hole right through the bottom of my paypal account. And I'm almost there, just a few dollars left to add to it!

I really really need those dolls to be released sooner rather than later!!!!

    51. No kidding... I was trying to save for my trip...fat chance that is going to be! Especially with all these new cute dolls. Arrrghhhh....

    52. Or, at the very least, an announcement of what dolls will be released! I don't know if I can make it until the end of March/April without knowing. :)

    53. No, me neither. Do you think there is some sort of 'programme' for people like us!!!! If not, then there should be!!!!

    54. So far, lying on the floor and eating chocolates, has helped....a bit....give it a try. ;) :chocoberry:truffle..oh what the heck...:whitetruffle

    55. I did sort of get an answer from Elfdoll. I had asked them if there would be another release of some of the lesser released tinies like Dodo, Wendy, & Winky or if it were possible to have a store exclusive. Oka said they have plans to release tiny dolls in the future, but they hadn't decided which doll and when. So, the wait continues.....

    56. aaarrgggh...hate the wait...but I am still $100 or so behind on saving...
      Thanks for the link, Sheena.

    57. You'll get there! Go through some old things, maybe list on Ebay. I find it incredibly relieving to downsize a lot of times. It's amazing how much stuff I accumulate. (Although I collect nonsense like bottle caps, acorns, and stationary paper...which nobody wants to buy!)

    58. hehe...me too...I collect acorn caps...silly really...but very irresistable to me: they're whistles! I haven't wanted to post on ebay b/c of the fees...but I do have a bunch of books to sell, and there's my wigs...and hopefully I can get those fairy wings made...

    59. I am browsing this thread ( slowly, I have a slow connection) to find a photo of nude monnaemi sisters.
I have a Catsy and I love her adult body... but I am dreaming about a boyfriend for her... so I am wondering if the childish body can be modified in "male" shape.
I am wondering a male black doll ( like black catsy) with Anubi head ( the egyptian god, I mean). I can do the head myself with black apoxie, but I tink that it's better to buy a body and paint it black...
      Am I crazy?

    60. hey welcome in this thread :)
here are some nude pics of my min del re linnea from my flickr:

      http://www.flickr.com/photos/anninaislove/2083327682/in/set-72157600130340733/
      http://www.flickr.com/photos/anninaislove/2082544617/in/set-72157600130340733/
(made them links so the thread is still worksafe ;)

i'm guessing it would be possible to sand the chest. the difficult part would maybe be to add the "manliness" and make it so it doesn't fall off, not sure what to best use, maybe some kind of sculpey/apoxie?
your idea with anubis sounds cool!
