Elfdoll 14cm Discussion TinyDoll Part 2

LOL...no fun here, just old pictures <G>. I'm at home, these are from a trip 2006, one of the first trips I took dolls on. People were fascinated by them, so much so that the owner of the high-end collectibles store that boat was in let me take Nissa's picture despite the "no photography" signs all over the dang place. Tinys are amazing ambassadors.

Oh geeze, I just went to elfdoll's website, and OMG, what the heck are they doing? Are they nuts? What whiny bull is that? How old are these people (this person?) What in the world are they on about? If they/this person has an argument with someone - a customer or anyone, they shouldn't go broadcasting it, and I would have thought their first mistake would have been covered up and hidden by now, but instead they're crying again! And sounding like they're attacking their customers!

Ugh

It can't be cultural, no, people have been doing business in every corner of the world since time began, this is just incredibly stupid. And it fills me with horror and sadness, as I now worry my favorite tinies will never be around to purchase again Certainly they're trying very hard to shoot themselves in the feet

 

I know, it's really sad isn't it Ingie? I think it is so unprofessional of any business to act like this, whatever the reason and I too am worried about the future of Elfdoll. Apparently Rainman only sculpts for them though, I always assumed he was/owned Elfdoll

 

So I went to see what all the hub bub was about...Eeeew.

 

Looks like I can't even just look in on the website anymore. I have never signed up with the website. I purchased through a shop. I have to make a login to even look at it now? Strange.

 

did anyone see the min in the marketplace? She's a 1.5 edition...so pretty...just like Mio! hehe. I love that pouty faceup!

 

I am not having any problems with the web site even when I haven't signed in. Are you going to http://www.elfdoll.com/ and then choosing English?

 

I can see the dolls, but can't go to any of the other site sections like Q&A, Announcements, Hospital, etc... Frankly, I don't think I want to see anymore in the announcement area, LOL. Oh it's so silly! Can't wait till it's over, and the owner get's her head back on straight!

Okay, so you you have to join the website to ever be able to purchase an Elfdoll again???

 

A new one, yes, I believe that is the case. Of course, there will always be resales.

 

How funny, I was going to sell this little one because I felt she was too insipid. Probably arriving at the same time as Lyn didnt help as Lyn is one of those overpoweringly exotic creatures who demands attention. One of Carries wigs arrived today and I love love love it. She is still fragile but has a determination in her face and a lot of attitude. Fantastic. Oh and she said her name is Nelle today too.

 

She's really lovely imajica, looks like she has quite a lot of attitude. Funnily enough, I too had Kai, I bought her from Kayjay on here, and as soon as she arrived, I felt I'd made a really bad mistake. I'd really wanted Min and Kai was 'second best' in my eyes. So I traded her with my friend in California, and she sent me her Jin, who I love dearly. But the more I see of Kai, the more I think that I made a hasty mistake in sending her away.....! I love Jin and am glad I got her because (and don't tell the others) she is my favourite I think, but I think one day I might get another Kai and try again!!!

Oh and yes, I saw that little Min in the marketplace, very cute, but she has a broken hand, damaged leg and I felt she was a bit overpriced for having the damage.

It is sad what is happening with Elfdoll, but it is not the first time they get rid of their dealers. In the mean while, i am afraid i will have to make the GO a bit earlier.

 

Oh, imajica, I love your Kai! She is so pretty as a blonde! My Kai seems to be the quiet type, but she looks like the brain is always working even if she is not doing or saying much, so I love her and keep hoping she will find a way to fit in a little better and become more active in our fae community! (A pretty new wig that suits her better might be part of the solution!)

 

I like her in that new wig, I'm glad she kept you. I know what you mean about Lyn, she is overpowering...my Lyn isn't so much b/c of her freckles and Hermione like fluffy hair. Mine is ironically gentle for a Lyn.

I dunno, I was able to put a doll in the shoping cart, but didn't try to pay... was just curious. I think anyone can still buy a doll there???

 

I think they can...otherwise they would make no sales whatsoever...like the store was closed...it's not...so they can make sales...just not the same way. They're looking for a new venue and a new audience to avoid those who commented against them.

That is way too weird that I have to sign up or I can never buy a doll from their site. Very, very strange. Yes, you have until Oct 31st to sign in, as I understand it, or you cannot buy their dolls anymore.

imajica - She is so darling. She does look shy and fragile almost. Very cute.

Teseya- Your girl is cute. Please tell me how you colored her hooves.

Guess what?!! I am soooo excited!!
Daisydayes PM'd me and I am going to be able to get faun legs soon!! I want my Min to look like a doe. I think it will be fun. She has the eyes for it.

 

Yays! another hooved Min is coming! A doe...that will be so adorable!
As for how I painted her: I used acrylic paints, a gloss paint for the hooves, watercolor pencils for the fur texture and covered it all in testors.
I really need to redo them though...b/c they don't match her skintone at the knee. I'm no expert at blushing.
I got a PM from DaisyDayes too! and my puki hooves are coming soon! (off topic but...) now all I need is a soso faceplate and my impish faun will be complete...or if I can find my pong pong faceplate T.T...I'm just afraid Tash would look too much like DaisyDaye's pong if I have that one. Of course, his hooves will match his resin better than Mio's, so just need to blush the furry parts and stompy parts.

 

Teseya - Thanks for the info. I want a very basic look if I do it. A little black and brown I guess. If it looks okay, as is, I may leave as is. My idea is a doe, but she may just end up being just something like that. I don't know how much money or work I will really put into it. I will have to see. If I end up selling my Min some day, maybe I can use the legs for Bong or another tiny. I am not sure what I will do. My idea was Min as a doe though.

Seems like forever I've been lurking here, admiring all your adorable little elf girls, and wanting one. Now suddenly, Kai is on her way from The Junky Spot, and I'm so happy! She's one of the original Kai, not the new ones. I registered on the Elfdoll site, because I wanted to see the whole site.

So very sad... all this trouble with Elfdoll. I hope the fallout settles down soon.

I don't think the shop will close, just the public ability to access it, as it will be members only. Ingie was suprised that she could still put a doll in a cart without being a member, but it's not the 31st yet. I imagine on 11/1, she will no longer be able to do that.

 

I'm still trying to wrap my mind around this; I think it's wacky.

 

Is being a member the same a simply signing up on the website??

 

OMG, I just ADORE that dress! She is so pretty!

 

Mio looks so incredibly sweet and gentle here, so different from her usual more 'outgoing' look! She is lovely, such a versatile little thing!

Thank you Ingie and Sharon! I adore her too. I made that dress by hand and I'm very proud of my work. I also love her new wig, it suits the headband perfectly and is so cute! I need to get better pics of her like this though. And update my photo album. Ironically, my Min far outshines my Lyn, I'm having trouble finding her exact style, it's gentle and elvish at times and victorian pretty lady. i wonder if I should try and make her a gown...like the edwardian style of pride and prejedice...that would be pretty...but so tiny *sigh* that will be hard. Maybe I can commission QZanny to make one.

It will never take! I have looked at and entered in the form SO many times. I do not understand what I have done wrong.

On Elfdoll, yes, its exactly the same as far as I'm aware. I'm not sure why you're having a problem though, I signed up a long while ago so am not sure if they've changed anything since then.

 

Thanks Sharon. I don't understand what I am doing wrong according to them. It is such a general alert message and I cannot figure out what it is. I don't know how to sign up with them then. I just wondered if anyone had some similar problems and could let me know that they are really particular about emal addresses or passwords or something.
Looks like I will never be able to purchase a doll through them then.

I am seriously thinking about giving up my Min. I know I have said it. I was going to get the faun legs for her. I like her, and then I don't. It is crazy. Since I don't have endless funds for new dolls, I may have to give her up. I guess, I may as well only keep the ones I know for sure that I really like. Sorry, don't mean to hurt anyone about Min. She is adorable, but just maybe not quite right for me. It is my thoughts. I thought the faun legs might change her for me, but I maybe I should just use the money for other doll stuff. It isn't done, until it's done. Just my thoughts. Thanks for letting me go on.

 

I'm sorry you feel that way about Min. I must admit, I don't like the new min that much...her faceup is too sweet and not any of the character her previous versions had. Maybe a new faceup would help her. that is if you could find an artist who can do it that small...having trouble myself. I think the hooves are always worth having...I think bong would make a really cute goat girl...hehe.

I am looking for some comfort. I appreciate it. I have really gone back and forth alot with my Min. I think I may like the earlier Min better. I could get another face up and give her those legs, but it does cost extra for me and there are so many tinies I still want to get. So, it seems logical to let her go. Ah, I am torn. I see her face again and I struggle. It is bittersweet. As much as I really got into Elfdoll and wanted many of them for a time, I find that now I want to get many different kinds of tinies. So maybe just keeping Bong for now will be fine.
I am not sure. Should I still get the legs? They would have to be for my Bong. I am not sure about it. I luv the idea at times, and sometimes I think that she is just a cute Japanese girl. I know. I am impossible. ha!

Teseya - Tell me. Was it difficult to put the faun legs on? Did you have to restring her or do they just fit? Thanks.

 

Maybe you can try trading your min for an older edition? Isn't there one in the marketplace now?
And as for the hooves, I think it's worth getting b/c DaisyDayes doesn't reliably have her stuff for sale and we don't know how long this furry of creativity on her part will last. (love her, but she's not an on demand artist)
so I'd suggest getting them while you can, and if you end up not loving them (doubt it), there are many who would love to get a pair.
to get the hooves on is not that difficult. just take the calf and foot off, as if you were gonna put the boots on, but no restringing...just use the string you have in her...there are 3 pieces to the hooves...just be sure they fit together like in the pics and use the fishing line for the bottom hoof. No restringing neccesary. Though I use s-hooks, so it's a little different how I do it.

 

Mabye try a different user id or a shorter password. May of the sites only allow 8 characters for a password.

My original Min was even sweeter than the current one! I'd love to have that face-up back! I like sweet, serene, contented and happy dolls!

that's not too many pics is it? and that's barely even covering her looks. I have 5 black wigs and two red for her...all different and a bunch of black and red outfits and combinations...she is so spoiled but versatile. hehe. I love my Mio!

 

Thank you Teseya and Nancy. Guess what? I tried to sign up again today and it worked! I don't know why yesterday there was such a problem. I am glad it worked today. So now I am a member. Guess that is what you have to do to ever order anymore. Strange but true.

Teseya - Mio is very versatile. I am glad you gave me your take on the faun legs. Perhaps it is a very good idea to get them then. They are very cool. I am just such a poor desperate one in need of every penny I can get for a new doll. Do you feel sorry for me now?? lol Yeah, poor me. I purchase luxury dolls and I have ten tiny ones.

 

I can't buy any more dolls right now. I have a real life debt to repay. so I content myself with spoiling the ones I have in as least costly way I can. I have 5 tinies and 3 MSDs.

 

Teseya - I like that. I do that at times. Sometimes I am okay for a while or even a longer period of time. Then the obsession takes hold again, and if I cannot afford, I do have to wait. Or if I can, sell dolls again to get new ones. I sold all my larger ones and other types of dolls to have this many tinies. It drives me nuts that several times I can sell items and get bits of money and I have $90-$100 and that is not enough to get another doll! It is a dilemma sometimes to buy stuff for my existing ones or keep saving for new ones. Before my tiny obsession took hold I was fine for the longest time with a msd and my three tiny Banji's.

 

Teyseya...your Mio is darling. I haven't been able to find the perfect wig for my Min yet but I love the black one with bangs on the 6th picture from the top....could you please tell me where you got it? Thanks

 

the sixth and seventh pic are both the same wig. It's the braids default wig that she came with in the 1.5 version. The braids are taken out, but he part is still there. I don't use it that often...b/c of the part in the back it's hard to style.

Dollightful, I think I can totally understand where you're coming from. I wanted the 2007 edition of Min so much that when my new 2009 Min arrived I was, I have to admit, very disappointed. But she has grown on me, although it took a while. I loved the sort of sassy look that Mio has on her older girl and this 2009 girl just didn't have it.
However, with a bit of work on her eyes, just moving them up a bit, and the trying out of several different wigs, I've finally found a girl that suits me and now I do love her.

But sometimes, having done all we can to make them 'ours', the doll is still not hitting that 'spot' with us and then it is time for them to move on. They are too expensive to keep just for the sake of it, and why should we? If we see something that we think we'd prefer then 'go for it'!!! That's my moto, and after all, we're not hurting anyone, in fact quite the opposite as we are giving someone else the opportunity to own a doll that they want.

Life is too short to worry about it, do what you think is best. If Min isn't the girl for you then have her adopted out and buy someone who you will love and enjoy more!!!

I am struggling with it as you can see. One minute she would be an adorable doe and another minute, not sure I like her and want so many other dolls too. Argh!

 

I'm getting my legs, I am getting my faun legs!!! Yea!! I am so happy. My husband even helped me decide. He said...just get them. Keep the doll and get them. hee hee !!! DaisyDayes was so kind and helpful too. If by chance my Min does not stay very long. My Bong gets to have fun being a faun too. It really is too unique to pass up trying.

 

I can see Ghloe thinking hmmmm fawn legs I wonder how they would suit me .....

 

She came with the fist hands on, and of course even a monkey should be able to change these hook hands without any problems. So anyway, after the elastic snapped back into her body and I had spend my entire "NO SHOW"-time (woho to patients who don't show!) on restringing her, here she is:
