I agree that I don't think it's a scam either. I previously wrote that I can empathize with them on health problems and stress/anxiety, so "dragging" them or calling them out isn't my intention. My situation is different from most since I literally could not pay them layaway payments 2 and 3 and have been chasing them down for about 9 months now. Like I had mentioned, I don't even know if there will be a doll for me at the end, and at this point, I don't want to give them anymore money if it's been this difficult to try to pay them. I'm just done. I also don't mind waiting if there are delays. I've waiting loooong times for dolls in the past, but there was usually a response or general update on the company page/instagram. I normally don't care how long a doll takes, and when it shows up, it shows up. But I don't like the position I was put into (still unpaid layaway because I literally could not get their site to take my card), so technically, I missed the remaining 2 payments. I still don't even know if a doll was ordered for me, or would my order be invalidated because I didn't make the last 2 payments despite trying every month since November. In the end, I chose a refund/dispute, but each person can decide the best course of action for themselves. I hope Dust of Dolls can release a communication soon, and that everyone who purchased their dolls will get what they ordered.
Finally a message! I want to assume everyone received this one, but just in case, here it is: Edit: maybe worth noting this was a general email, not a response direct to my message I sent from August 5th. Though I'm relieved to hear anything
I just emailed on Aug. 17 and received the same update email this morning. I'm also keeping my order. I've had dolls take around 9 months, and the fact they hadn't opened more preorders or stayed on top of accepting money made me hopeful things were happening behind the scenes. The lack of communication till now was extremely bad business practice and it will be my last doll with them, I'm sure. They need at least one staff member who can handle business pressure correctly and that's lacking.
I do totally understand the decisions to back out of the preorder when the transaction wasn't even completed. Same update email here! I'm glad to hear from them and it sounds like their story is very similar to what I was saying. I agree, they may want to hire someone to help handle the website in the future, but I do understand that it's only a 2-person team (were they related also? I don't remember). It is good that they didn't try to take on any more orders until the situation was resolved. I know that it's not GOOD, but this isn't the longest wait with the least communication I've had. I'm still waiting on dolls from last October, not to mention that I've ordered from Dollshe and waited well over a year, haha. I genuinely consider 8 months of production time to be average and I don't really expect updates while the doll is in production.
Got an update email as well. Finally. I understand that whatever I say you will protect Dust of dolls, so I won't wast my time. Only three things: First, Dollshe don't update but if you send an email they willl reply. Second, if someone disappears with my 900 euro for 8 months without update and reply to my emails I have every right to be upset and to think they are scammers. And I KNOW that for much less people were dragged through mud. Third, not updating for 8 months straight or not replying to emails is unthinkable. There are other ways to update people, like tasking someone to do it.
Here's and update email I got yesterday from them for Edda Message: Hello, As we mentioned it in our last email, we are coming back to you to announce that the Edda have finally been send from China (our factory). We are truly hoping that the shipping will be fast and without customs-related delays, and we will contact you again as soon as we will know that the dolls are in France, to keep you informed. Meanwhile, do not hesitate to check up on your delivery addresses, or to contact us through your order history for any question or instruction. We are wishing you a very good day, Dust of Dolls
I received that same update. I opted for faceup so it's still going to be a few months for mine I'm sure. So, not making the last payment until she's ready to ship.
Did you check spam as well? Most of my Dust of Dolls emails went to spam/junk until I flagged them as safe at least 3 times over the years
Uh interesting update^^ I admittedly also haven’t received the email (also not in my spam) - did you send an inquiry @Kooki_sushi and @marci12 or is that something that everyone received? Oo
@Raffael I think that email was a more specific one to those of us who'd emailed them directly recently.
@marci12 oh thank you so much that relieves me quite some this has been such a long wait, I must admit I am growing a bit weary and hope so much for all of us to be able to have them home soon
I hadn't contacted them about my Edda order at all but got the same update on Oct, 2nd. And today I received the update, that the Edda dolls have arrived yesterday and shipping of the ones without face up will start after 48h!
Oh wow isn’t that awesome news I was so happy I rushed here, intending to copy in their message, this is awesome ♥️♥️ Crossing my fingers for everyone to receive their girls now very soon
Message: Hello, We finally received the Doom Edda dolls yesterday, and we will start packing the orders today. The orders ready to be send will be updated during the day, the ones with a Viridian House’s makeup will get the corresponding status. For the orders still missing a payment, we will contact you in the next days to regularize before shipping. Thank you all for your patience, do not hesitate to verify your delivery address on your order, and to contact us if there is any modification to make! Warmly, Dust of Dolls
Mine is supposed to arrive tomorrow, if nothing happens to delay that last stage of shipping love seeing owner pics of her popping up! She's real
Uhhhhh I am so nervous, it seems there’s many Eddas already home or arriving, I still didn’t get my shipping notice … is anybody else also still waiting for their shipping notifications? I already wrote to dod on the weekend but haven’t yet received an answer from there, my order history still lists her as “preparation en cours”
Blank Eddas have shipped. Eddas with faceup ship after receiving the faceup, Dustofdolls says that those Edda faceplates have safely arrived at Viridian House's studio. It will probably take a few weeks/months for Caroline to complete faceups, ship the face plates back to France, and then for DustofDolls to ship the full doll with faceups to customers. However, if your Edda is blank and you have not received notice, I have no idea why My Edda safely arrived home after a week-long visit to US customs! I hope all of the Eddas come home soon!
@Demiurgo Could it be that the tracking number is created, but hasn't been scanned yet? I believe they posted on IG saying the shipping company was holding a shipment that hadn't posted yet; that the shipping company said it'd move when it moved or something like that. If that's the case, it's probably still waiting in a cargo hold somewhere and the tracking isn't updating as it still hasn't been scanned. Covid delays or holiday delays, no idea... smh. But I'm with you on being over their communication issues. This is my one and only doll from them and I'm done too.
I did a quick mockup of my plans for Edda, as she's probably going to be a slow project due to life. Unfortunately on mobile I can't seem to get the BB code like I usually do, so the pic can be seen here! I don't blame anyone for boycotting Dust of Dolls after the Edda preorder. Considering they still have an appi preorder ongoing too, there's not much more I can say that y'all haven't already touched on.
@marci12 just opened the package and the doll is a awkward. Must restrung her. Or better, find someone who restrings her for me.
Is this your first Doom? they are all very heavy in the legs! restringing won't do it. I have heard sueding and wiring might work a bit to make a bit less crazy and prevent the rotation. They are really sit dolls from my experience.
Yes, because the center of gravity is so low and concentrated in one spot (le hips and booty), DoD DOOM and Roze are difficult to stand. Sueding is likely to be your best bet in terms of reducing the kickiness of the legs and rotation of hip joints, but I wouldn't leave any DoD Roze or DOOM standing unattended without a doll stand. The good news is that they have possibly the most beautiful and stable sitting/lounging posing around, at least in my opinion. I was able to find some clothes that fit my Edda! She is so lovely
lovely outfit ! I have found most SD clothing works well as long as not tight on hips. Doom is worse than Roze as roze legs are not as heavy. So Roze can improve a lot with the wiring. While Doom is just a bit better.
Yes, it's my first doom, but I think the doll needs to be restrunged. The torso goes backwards if I try to make the doll stand, also, the left leg's string was all twisted, so the leg and the footh aimed at their left. Not sure how to explain it, tbh. There is a sense of general floppiness, not just the legs. Well, if I also need wiring, I totally need some expert to do it.
I also wanted to ask, if this is your first DD. Mine is the same but she is well strung. Sueding und wiring are your best options. You should read this whole thread. DDs are the worst balanced dolls I own and they all drive me crazy. It is not only the heavy legs. My Cham for example is the most awkward one of them and she doesn't have wide hips. Unfortunately they are all single jointed without nubs to hold position, not even in the hip joints and suffer from extreme hyperlordosis. You can either accept their exorbitant lack of poseability and go for the aesthetics or you just cannot. I know a lot of people who parted with their DDs with a very heavy heart but they just didn't have the patience to bring them to stand every time they wanted to take a picture. Dressing them can also be very annoying because of their kickyness.
YES! general floppiness that is correct including torso. I dress mine on a bed. Then sit her on the shelf she can sit well without falling back or forward. But it's an effort while dressing until she sits as she is all over the place I am such a sucker for the faces.
I'm so glad people are finally getting their Eddas. I own a Doom Bomi and have the same problems with the legs as other people have mentioned (she arrived strung very tight). She's very finicky about getting dressed in general though and it's always a struggle. So much so that I have considered not keeping her. I have not tried restringing or anything else yet, but I really hope something works to make her more posable. I'm assuming it's a size issue because the same problem doesn't seem to occur with Zouh Spun (mine is really loose though). I have also found that normal size SD clothes are too loose for Doom Bomi. Maybe slim SD would work better with an open bottom or making sure the breast area is flat on the model. I don't know.
Has anyone had experience with changing their shipping address given the time between the preorder and doll arrival? I have heard it can be hard contacting them.
I asked for changing the shipping address of my Edda. They did not reply to my message, but I saw the delivery address on their webpage had been changed the way I asked for, when I logged into my account. She arrived at the new address and everything was fine.
I've only recently come to understand the loveliness of the Doom girls. I missed out on Edda's pre-order, but am hoping they might bring back Wawa or Bomi in another colour, this year..... Here's hoping! I'm really looking forward to designing for her. Her body proportions are quite unique, but a perfect pear shape ❤️
I had Wawa in my collection, but she did not live with me for a long time, about a month, she went to live with a collector in America, I probably will never buy her again, because she is very fidgety and I like dolls with larger heads.
