@ophelia Bee-A has always had different hands from the other girls. Her boobs were also sligthtly (very slightly) bigger, because she and Too were portrayed as young teens and the other DoCs were young children. Those two bodies and hand types co-existed at the same time, so they won't help you determine her age, I'm afraid. My friend and I had Mir and Twing-Key from 05 and they both came with the more childlike body with the chunkier hands.
Hi all.. I haven't been in this hobby for awhile, but a recent dollmeet has gotten be to become more active again! I thought I'd drop into this thread to share a photo of my first boy. Please meet my DOC Hoo, Heisa! I got him when I first joined the hobby in 2005 and he is currently on a modded WS MNF girl-to-boy body from 2008. I can't believe that he's already 14 years old.
Congrats on your Twingkey, she's adorable! I've always loved that sculpt. I have both a Pitts(chunky hands) and Bee-A(thinner spread finger hands) from 2005, and they are both pre-superpink resin. Your girl looks really good for her age! I wonder if she might be from a bit later when dod changed to the really pink resin? I'm not exactly sure of the timeline for that though, maybe 2007?
@ophelia Ah, actually, now that nakitama mentioned it, I looked at your photo more carefully and your Twing Key is definitely from the pink time. Her wrists are structured completely differently from the first DoCs. They didn't have a separate wrist cap like that before; they hardly had any wrist ball at all and the hands were strung with string instead of S hooks. I'm not entirely sure when they changed the hands, but I would also place her around the time Petsha and the new girl body was introduced, so 2007-ish. I definitely never got those hands and I bought DoCs on the old body until 2006. @kagami Welcome back. I actually remember your Hoo. C: (I think I tried to keep tabs on all DoD owners back then)
Thank you both for the welcome back! @Yenna oh my goodness! you remember him? that's awesome! i was just looking at your profile and your girl is very familiar too! I remember her being equally striking~
@nakitama and @Yenna, thanks for the information! I didn't know the resin formula had changed, so that's good to know. Also, I didn't know the hand attachment had changed from strings to S-hooks. She has mellowed maybe ever so slightly, but in color she matches my Angel of Dream Normal Pink resin, from about 2013. So I think it may be safe to say she's not that old, after all, compared to what I was thinking, but instead around 9-12 years old. @kagami your Hoo is lovely! These old sculpts give me all the nostalgia feels.
My friend passed me her DOC Wi recently and I gave him a new face! I'm really starting to like him a lot! by kagami, on Flickr I wish there were more DoCs around here....
Wow! It's been a while since a post was made in this thread. I got my Leya second-hand many years ago and I always struggled with the fact that she's in the mature body. But now my mind has stopped looking at her as a little girl and accepted her body. So, that's my excuse to share a photo with you (By the way, if anyone knows how to make visible instagram photos, I'd appreciate your help )
Just popping by to give you all the Dream of Doll Archive Dropbox link! I saved everything I could before the website disappeared originally, and I've spent a few months digging through the wayback machine saving as much as I could from the original DOD website (so 2004-2009)! There's quite a lot of DOC stuff added, including pictures I'd never seen and very early limiteds I really miss DOD so this is my little way of keeping them around (I say like I don't have several of their dolls in my home...)
Thank you so much for this, @Shido! I have wanted to look at their MSD outfits again so many times for inspiration.
@~A*K~ Your Daniel is so cute! It's nice to see some DOC around again Meanwhile, I don't have many good shot of my Aeafrhod to share. Here's his most recent pic. took on valentine's day
Hi all, For those who is looking for a body for your DoC boy head, here is my Too on True Love body in ns pink DoC Too hybrid by daissy27, sur Flickr
Your welcome. The neck is slightly bigger than DoC neck hole but it's hardly remarkable and it makes the head movement easy. Personally I like it.
Hi everyone! I just got the DoC Twins second hand and was wondering if there was any way to more or less determine age. They have the resin hooks on their feet, and their hands are tied instead of having metal s-hooks. So pretty sure they are from before DoD switched to metal s-hooks on DoC, but I have no idea of when that was. They are so old, they don't even have headcap magnets :')
Oh, congrats! Hm, the best I can guess is pre-2010. My DoC Si was made in 2010 and has s-hooks and magnets. Hopefully someone else can narrow it down further for you
Congrats! I got my first DOC (a Bee-a, through split) in early 2007, and both she and her partner Too had magnets and s-hooks so yours must be earlier again!
I think the switch was made in 2007. My DoCs from summer 2006 still came with hand strings and no headcap magnets, but once the new more mature DoC body was released in 2007, they updated the old bodies too. So, they're definitely pre-2007 but probably impossible to determine a more precise age. Congrats on your new dolls
So pre-2007 definitely. I think that's as close as we'll get narrowing it down . That means they are either as old as my oldest bjd, or a bit more than that. Thanks for the help everyone!
Yup, that sounds about right to me, too. My DOCs from 2005 and 2006 both have non-magnet headcaps and no s-hooks in the hands/feet.
@Air My Yu should be from 2006 (If what the previous owner told me correct). He has magnet in head but no S-hook in the hands/feet. I guess that your dolls should be somewhat older.
Mir and Yen have arrived! This is the picture when they arrived yesterday. I since swap the body, Mir is a boy and Yen is a girl and it works well. I plan to trade Yen girl in the future as I already have Yen in my collection. DoC Mir and Yen by daissy27, sur Flickr
Congratulations!! They look adorable!! I received a Mir a few months ago, but she still needs some work before showing her. So glad to see your DOCs
Thank you! She is such a cutie! I don't know why she is not very well known. I might change her face up in the future, and she needs some cleaning and restringing (problem of buying old dolls lol) but I really love her!
Hi everyone! I need your help once more . I unassembled my kids to give them a good cleaning, and now have no idea how to re-tie the hands. Can you show me pics of how your non-"s-hook" hands are attached? or I'm not sure if anyone has the old instructions on how to tie them? I tried adding s-hooks but the space is too small for any to get in there
Thanks @Doll-Mage ! That solves a part of the puzzle Now I just need to figure out the knot on the wrists so it doesnt come loose once I attach the elastic.
DoDs used to have the string tied to the elastic, not looped like Volks, but not that it matters, attachment is attachment. What I used to do was switch the string to a very thin fabric covered wire. With that you basically attached it to the hands, pulled the elastic to the wrist, looped the wire around it, gave it the simplest possible knot and then wrapped the ends around the wire towards the hand. I had photos but I think I've long since removed those, lol. The wire gave the hand a tiny bit more mobility than a regular string did and it was way easier to remove to switch the hands or unstring the arms.
I think I just found an original-faceup Too head in the junk bin at Nagoya Mandarake???? Comparison with Kazu, a modified Tender Too. The eyelashes are sitting in a cup of hot water to get de-crunched and de-greased, the eyes were in there with plasticine clay @__@;
It feels surreal to be able to post in this thread. Ever since I joined DoA back in 2004 (!!!) I had been obsessed with getting a Leya. But being a youngin at the time, it never happened, and I moved onto different dolls until DoD closed shop and I accepted my fate. My husband managed to somehow remember my childhood grail doll and spent months looking for one secondhand until he found one and as a huge surprise to me, gifted me a Leya for Christmas last year!! She admittedly must have been through many owners, the last of which I can only assume used her as a project doll. After a lot of love (and sanding) and a delightful faceup from maiya she's looking lovely. I'm so happy to have this doll in my collection. She's on a unoa body for now (which miraculously matches pretty well, if a little small haha) until I find the time to give her original body the treatment her face got.
Congratulations!!! You have an amazing husband. I'm curious to see the details of the body, but (at least in that picture) she looks awesome. Anyway, Leya is super adorable, enjoy her.
@michira awww that's a wonderful story, a real Christmas miracle that your husband made! Your girl is beautiful, and I like her dress very much
Hadn't came here in ages to come back and seeing this. Your Leya is absolutely beautiful! Thank for sharing, it made my day
Reading this thread and seeing all these lovely DOC sculpts again just gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside I still have my DOC Petsha elf. Right now she has a temporary faceup as I need to figure out what to do (her last layer of paint is not sealed). Sadly no inspiration has come up, mainly due to her huge eyes are a bit of a pain to paint. They feel too large sometimes and makes her hard to photographe, alot of "dead" angles and makes her look weird. Also, finding a good wig is nearly impossible as most don´t look good on that giant head xD I´ve come to the conclusion that I have to make one for her. Not a problem but my time is limited atm to fidle around with it. Her resin and body has helded up really really good over the years. No signs of bad resin formular. it´s only the magnets in her head that could be replaced, but they are rectangle and very very difficult to get out. Some serious strong glue was used that´s for sure!
Hello! I've been in the hobby for years, but recently purchased a secondhand DoC Homme Kirill; my dream doll! I know the company suddenly disappeared years ago, but I'd love to see everyone else's DoD dolls. Their sculpts were always my favorite.
awww I am also buying homme kirill from dear DoA member now. beautiful boy. i am buying him wig but i wonder if 7-8 or 6-7?

Sharing my 'Yu' picture here. It's from 2025 X'mas, and I just notice I didn't share them in DOA Rhoddy still having a good life with me. Out of all DOC that passed my hand he's the one that stay. (That doesn't mean I won't buy any other DOC secondhand again, there are still the other that I wish I could try)
