Dream Valley Mini Discussion Thread

Feb 6, 2018

    1. Hello. Does anyone have pictures of the B4-15 body or (which is even better) any comparison photos with other bodies or companies?
I've seen this one but I need more examples :)

      • x 1
    2. Are Dream Valley company faceups similar to the picture? I'm planning on getting a human Achelous head with faceup since I found the faceup in the photos to be especially charming.

    3. dayspring10, for me looks same, but their body blushing can be more intensive then on promo. I took Athos as 1st DV doll and I was very disappointed with body blushing, but my last dragon boy looks good.
Also I ordered +2 dolls from them with face-ups, still waiting.

    4. If that's the case, will certainly be ordering him since it's faceup only. Thanks.

    5. dayspring10, maybe it was long time ago and now it can be ok, cos my dragon looks as on promo. I took my Athos when it was new mold. But my Paris I ordered w/o blushing, only make-up. U can check at another box openings. Btw yw ^^

    6. I recently got my Dean I in, and he can't actually sit on his own. :pout: Is this normal with the B4-13 body? Or is it a tight stringing issue? His legs don't seem to want to stay bent at the hips.

    7. Most DreamValley dolls are strung *super* tight by the company. I couldn't even get the head on my dragon boy because of it.
Not to mention the creaking every time something moved.

    8. Does anybody know if the B4-13 (47cm) body will keep being on sale even when the dolls that were sold with that body got discontinued? I was hoping to get a Project Delta Salome head now and get a body later, I thought the B4-13 would be a good match but since dolls like Dean and Howard got discontinued I don't know if they would keep selling that body.

My other alternative could be B4-15 (49cm), it won't be much of a problem since Salome is offered with either de Project Delta 'Actual Body' (43cm with head) or the 'Mannequin body'(49cm with head), the thing is that B4-13 is cuter and would fix more Salome's new look?

Another question, how is the white resin for Dream Valley? is it paper white or more like a skin tone white?, yellow or rosy white?

    9. I'm not sure on the bodies but the white is white.
Rubin | Den of Angels This is my Rubin, he's in white.

    10. Well, it does look white as white could be lol, like paper white, which would be perfect because Salome is paper white and there are no other colors. Thank you!

    11. I own a white Grayson and he is very much a cream white, not at all true/paper white, however my Foxy also DV white skin was more a paper white/eggshell white. So know there are shade differences by batches with Dream Valley white skin.

      • x 1
    12. I asked a similar question elsewhere about DV white, and was shown brand-new-vs-current-appearance photos of a 2019 doll: DV white is indeed paper-white, but it doesn't hold its colour over time and yellows steadily to a creamy white (yellow tone). So it might be age, not batch differences, that makes DV white resin look different. DV may have made their white resin more colour stable since then but I can't confirm this.

That info was from @IzabethS - I'll let her share photos of her DV Ann if she wants.

      .

As for bodies being discontinued, DV so far has been quite transparent - announcing when standard dolls will be discontinued, and running an event sale to coincide with that. So if they discontinue a body you want, you'll probably get plenty of notice about it.

If you want to be absolutely sure, you can either ask a dealer, or check out the product listings in DV's Taobao shop. The doll bodies are all in letter/number codes so you don't need to understand Mandarin. Bodies that are out of stock tend to be listed with prices of "99999.00" or similar ridiculous figure with 9s. If it's in stock, the price will look more reasonable, like "1250.00" or "1980.00". I expect the TB store to be more up-to-date in realtime than dealer websites. But I would keep an eye out for announcements since DV seems to broadcast whenever they're discontinuing standard dolls, and the dealers will post the news here.

    13. @aihre Might be both a change to their resin and age, but my Foxy is older and lighter then my Grayson, both were gotten new, and Grayson was always the same shade of cream. My dragon boy is from their first run of his mold and hasn't changed color since DV sent him to me. He has always been cream, were Foxy is paper white with some age darkening. So go figure. /shrug..

    14. The 3-arm body that I have Kheima on was purchased new (via a dealer) and was received in January of 2020. It is a snow/paper white that matched perfectly with the WS SD Phiel head (November 2016, purchased new from SD). He still appears snow/paper white to me but I also don't have another DV in WS to compare him to. Kheima's brother, Kyrieleison, is a Dean/Howard in purple so not helpful in this (although the purple is lovely).

All my guys rest in their boxes when I'm not doing something with them so any mellowing due to sunlight would be minimal at best.

    15. Not one of my other Dream Valley dolls has any sign of visible resin age on them my normal pinks, normal yellows, and grey skinned DV dolls all seem much the same color as when I got them. Also they seem closer to the same colors between batches, it's really only Grayson and Foxy that are very clearly different for being same color. I can only assume my cream Grayson is some fluke in the system, as came that color and has stayed it.

And he's for sure not normal yellow skin as I have another DV doll that color and it's peachyer and very human next to my Grayson. My Grayson is like a butter cream color. He is also 90% of the reason I wont buy another white skinned doll from Dream Valley he was just so much yellower then their sample photos and other owner pix seem. Thankfully I plan to fully dye mine once I am brave enough to tackle unstringing and restringing him.

    16. That's interesting info. I don't know what to make of all this except for batch differences, and maybe the way owners display their dolls. Well, I am getting a DV doll in white and expect to keep it out in ambient lighting conditions - no direct sunlight of course, but I won't hide the doll in darkness. So I'll find out whether the colour holds over time.

    17. Does anyone remember what the body type was for Cloris/Allison was. I want to buy some hands and feet from DDE and I want to make sure they'd fit.

    18. Human or fairy?
Human Cloris is on the B4-02 body. Winged Cloris is on the B4-01 body. Neither body has been discontinued (as far as I know), so 1/4 hands should work for both - unless I'm wrong here. Anyone else have a different experience?
I ordered multiple 1/4-scale option hands for the new B4-19 body, too. I'll let y'all know how they fit when my doll stuff arrives.

      • x 1
    19. It was the winged body! thank you for your insight!

    20. Well Dream Valley just released new gorgeous 1/4 bunny girls, and just like that my resolution to NOT buy any new dolls this year has gone out the window. *shakes fist at Dream Valley*

I’ve always been tempted by Fairyland’s bunnies, so there’s no way I’ll be able to resist these bunnies. I think I’ll get Olivia in white and then dye her human parts a light peach color. *keeps shaking fist at Dream Valley*

Edit: I’m getting her a sword too, and she’ll be inspired by a tattoo I have. :3

    21. those bunny legs delight me but I can't justify it. I mean I LOVE animal legs on dolls and DV is definitely more affordable than the fairyland fantasy dolls but nghh.

I wonder if we'll get boys to go with the girls at some point. They often do that.

I often wish you could buy their special bodies on their own, but alas.

      • x 2
    22. I am also hugely tempted by those bunnies. I need to check about real life adult spendings first, but maybe... I guess I have a month to figure that out orz

not sure if I'd go with the human face of the bunny face tho. They're both very cute in their own way!

    23. So my Dean that I ordered on the B4-04 body arrived a bit ago, but he came on the B4-13 body! I ordered him through cloversinging so I emailed Christina and she said that DV is very sorry and will produce a B4-04 for her to send me! I was so surprised! I was expecting them either to want me to send the B4-13 body back, or let me keep it and offer me the B4-04 at a discounted price... Not free! Maybe this is normal but it blows my mind that they'd let me keep something as expensive as a doll body!

    24. maryw13, congrats! It's very rare when company doing this, but it's very kind from their side. Cos u waited this doll + maybe u had some plans on some date. Its a compensation for their mistake :kitty2

    25. Yeah, right now I’m shaking my fist at Dream Valley too! My plans to not add any more dolls this year just completely went up in smoke when I saw this cutie.:doh It doesn’t help that I’m a real sucker for human dolls with animal parts in general (shapeshifters for the win in my collection!) And it really doesn’t help that a part of my collection is lovingly called Bunnyland either. And she’s absolutely gorgeous to boot (along with her outfit too…it’s so my fairytale jam.) I was absolutely doomed the moment I saw Olivia. Thank goodness for a 10% discount and generous layaways because I just had to order her fullset.:)

    26. Fortunately I'm not interested in the new rabbit girls, since I did order tiny dragon girl Izzy from DV this month.
I saw a DoA member post showing their just arrived Dawn/Aurora, so I'm hoping to get the bow and hands I ordered for Morrigan (my Rosa) during that order period soon!

    27. A dream valley newb here, but does anyone have any good (or conversely 'no'pe, that'll never work') tips/options for hybrid match-ups for the DV bodies? I think I've seen some doll leaves & DIM while searching but any others stand out?

    28. @acidquill I've seen someone on DOA put minifee head on DV body and I quite liked the hybrid :)

      • x 1
    29. Ooooo I was wondering if that would work! I have a couple MNF (ns) and DZ minis (ws..... & somehow I forgot I have/had Reiko twins to complete??) that need bods and the DVs look lovely though I wasn't sure of scale/fit from what I've poked around & found so far :sweat

    30. The closest thing I have to a DV hybrid is a head and body combo from them they don't sell as a full doll but fit together perfectly.
And because I'm very pleased with how the new dress I made Morrigan came out, here she is wearing it.

    31. Hey folks! Does anyone know of any jointed hands that work with the B4-17 48cm body? It's such a gorgeous body but I simply have too many photo plans to keep one hand position on that doll once i order him (and multiple pairs would be both imperfect and possibly prohibitively expensive). Thanks in advance!

    32. I'm planning to get a Dream Valley body for a Doll chateau hybrid. Does anyone know if normal pink from both companies fit each other? Both would be a new order.

      • x 1
    33. I don't know, but I believe they are sister companies? If you compare DC and DV bodies, the resemblance is striking.
I would email a dealer and ask. IIRC, DV doesn't accept direct orders.

    34. They are, or at least were, sister companies. They used to have the exact same resin shades, but suddenly they don't offer peach or moon white for example. In another thread I found, they said that DC white doesn't fit DV white anymore. So I'm worried^^'.
It wouldn't matter too much if I didn't want the faceup so bad.

I'm trying to figure out which dealer I haven't sent a ton of emails to this past weeks...

      • x 1
    35. DC and Dollzone are sister companies. DV was established by former DC sculptors/apprentices, but is not actually related otherwise.

I would not count on them having identical resin, but I don't have NP from either company for an actual comparison.

      • x 1
    36. Thank you for your information :daisy!

They used to have identical WS. I have a dollzone, Doll chateu, Dream valley and an old Souldoll white that were the exact same shades. But all of them except the Souldoll was bought at the same time from Alice Collections. But that was 2019 and I think many things have changed since. I will have to plague the Doll chateau thread to see if they have comparisons...

    37. This is how I ended up in this thread! I have been searching for good bodies for a spare mnf head and fell in love with the new b4-19! When those bodies start shipping would anyone be willing to take a photo comparison with a mnf to help me plan out a possible hybrid? :eusa_pray

    38. Oh wow everything about Morrigan is just perfect! I love that dress too, it looks really good on her. :love

    39. @Golden Thanks! She was the first MSD sized doll I got after years of tinies, I really love her.

    40. Took my spicy phoenix out for a few pics today!

    41. Looks fabulous tbh! :D

    42. Thank you! I realized that I hadn't taken any good pics of him since I had his face redone, so I dressed him up in a new outfit and took him out for a bit! Also rewired his knees so he could stand straight, he kept fainting like a Victorian maiden with the vapors.

    43. Anybody else admiring the new guy who's being teased on their Twitter? I just forwarded a link to my friend going 'oh no, my aesthetic'. Gonna have to keep an eye on this one, although I'm guessing he'll be too expensive for my tastes.

    44. i've also been looking like (EYES) at nightmare constantine. will prob not be getting the fantasy fullset but if they release a human version or his head... i'm in trouble

    45. does anyone know if luts normal or peach match with normal from dream valley? I really fell for the rah sculpt but the body is a bit too skinny for me :)

    46. Does anyone know if Dream Valley's shipping times have slowed down? I ordered the bow and arrows set and bow hands through a dealer last July, and I haven't even gotten a shipping notice yet. I'm also waiting on 2 limited tinies preordered from them.

    47. @Leo Pheonix July 2022 is a long time... I'd check in with your dealer for an update.

Overall, DV's preparation time seems to be getting longer. Dolls ordered last October (Apocalypse Horseman) recently began to appear in owners' hands, and I don't think the spider girls Rita & Freyja from the November preorder have begun to ship yet. Given this time frame, I'm estimating a 7 month wait.

For what it's worth, I ordered a full, standard doll (Achelous human on a B4-04 body, with faceup) on New Year's Day this year, from DV's Taobao store. DV sent my proxy an advisory (basically a postcard with info) and it said 6 months for a full doll, but I think this is an optimistic estimate and I don't expect to see Achelous until August. People who bought through a dealer might wait longer as it might take time for the doll to ship from the maker to the dealer.

    48. If I didn’t already have three centaurs taking up shelf space, I’d be all over Nightmare Constantine. He’s exactly my aesthetic and he has literally the prettiest centaur body sculpt I’ve seen. <3 (And that red resin? Wow.)

I’m probably just going to get his scythe and outfit and give it to my Chaos boy. Though, it makes me wish the wolf centaur bodies were double-jointed too.

    49. I love the aesthetic of the Nightmare-Constantine, too. But I don't have a character for him and I'm already eyeing 2 other dolls (who I don't have characters for *hangs head*). The resin temptations are just hitting from all sides lately.

    50. I didn't pay attention at first because I'm not interested in fantasy dolls, but I'm looking closer at the discontinuing wolftaurs... and I'm smitten by DV Order's face. I just love grim-looking, solemn dolls. Order also is androgynous enough to be a boy, girl, or a neuter character, and I'm into genderswapping heads... But I'm not really into 1/4 size, and definitely not into fantasy dolls. Might have to pass on this, or keep an eye on the marketplace. *sighs wistfully*

    51. The discontinuation of the wolftaurs tempts me so much-I loved them as soon as I saw photos of them when I got into BJDs last year, and they're a way to do the wolf knight idea I have kicking around in my head. But the long wait time makes me antsy, and that's a big chunk of change for a doll, although with guys that big, with that much resin, I do understand where the price is coming from.

    52. Oh, wow, I definitely am drooling over Constantine, he's gorgeous! Not to mention the skeletal details! He'd end up being my second or third centaur, depending if you count Chaos as a centaur (wolftaur?). Waiting to hear back from BJDivas to see if I could get his horse parts in grey with white human bits, I think I'd prefer that. Time for a layaway, I guess, I wasn't expecting to get another doll this year, but he's amazing.

It's a little sad that the wolf boys are retiring, they're such a nice set of dolls! Very unique. I love my Chaos boy,

    53. I've been waiting for the wolftaurs to re-release... I am glad there is a last huzzah!

@Magnus Vale i love seeing your Phoenix and Wolf, thank you for the lovely pics <3

    54. So glad they're re-releasing the wolf-taurs one last time! I've loved them since their first release, which I missed. Hoping I can get one in that gorgeous dragon's blood red.

    55. That dragon's blood is a fantastic color, I wish I could have gotten my Grayson in it as it's 100% the color I want to try and dye mine.

    56. Since review threads seem to be thin on the ground-and unboxing videos only give initial impressions-I figured I should ask here. Chaos/Order owners, what are your overall thoughts of these guys, regarding posing, stability, and the like? I keep mulling over them but I keep wondering if they're worth the cost (though they sure seem to be made of two MSDs worth of resin) and wondering if the size will be a bit much. (My largest dolls are 45 cm Resinsouls.)

    57. I have a Chaos named Cross and he's one of my favorites in my collection (he takes up permanent residence on my desk). I love his huge ears, and his two-tone resin (Coffee and Pink) make him beautiful. He's probably the most unique of all my guys.

Regarding posing, his human half is pretty great, like all my other Dream Valley dolls. His wolf parts leave a lot to be desired, though. I really wish his wolf joints were double-jointed like the new centaur that's coming out. That would help a lot, I feel. Stability has also been a challenge for me, especially with his back legs. Even with wiring and hot glue-sueding, those darn back legs really don't want to support his own weight.

I have a Luts Kid Delf centaur and a Resinsoul MSD centaur, and he can make more interesting poses than the Luts, and is more stabile than the Resinsoul. But other peoples' experiences might vary.

When standing, I haven't been able to get him into too many interesting poses. Rearing up on his back legs like a lot of other centaur dolls is pretty impossible.

Lying down, I can get him into a pretty cute relaxed pose.

Meh. He's lucky he's pretty. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ And yes, he is big. It's like I have a cat chilling on my desk all the time.

      • x 5
    58. I did wonder how big he was compared to a housecat! I didn't see a length listing on the sample photos, so I kept guesstimating by height and looking over at my own cat, going 'probably about as big as you?'
