Does the body blushing /paint on dream valley dolls hold up well?

I don't own dolls from them, and love his painted look, but I don't have experience in how easily and quickly the paint goes off for full body make ups?
He looks so much fun to pose, but I am afraid I will be in constant fear of damaging it

Eeeee, I just ordered Eve and I'm so excited. These little dragons really did me in. I've been keeping my eye out for the perfect little dragon as the familiar of one of my dolls and when I saw these. Welp.

Apparently I hadn't posted it here yet, but a week ago I ordered a Tea and a chomper arm body for my venus flytrap girl. Both blank, so hopefully they'll be done a bit quicker than my Halloween event order

 

Oh no, they're cute! I definitely want to get Bor. The dragon kids Izzy and Samander are adorable as well; usually I prefer the guys but Izzy's winning me over. If only I could swap bodies...

Today I have some bad news; my Aiden took a nosedive onto the hardwood floor and now I've lost one of the head magnets I have some spare magnets lying around from past doll projects, but none of them fit the space. Do you guys think it's possible that I reach out to them and request buying a replacement magnet?

 

I'm not sure about the magnet part replacement (just try to ask them), but I'm sure you can get a Izzy as a boy. I asked them about the body swap to get Collier dragon boy and they did it for me.

 

I ordered 2 Bor yesterday too. I've been looking for a perfect dragon sculpture for a long time and Bor is similar to my imagination. Unfortunately, I like black dragon but this time they don't have black resin. I tried to ask but they rejected. Guess I need to dye by myself.

 

@phanuel I love your Periwinkle! Those babies are so cute. I'm working my way down my wish list to get Grug.

 

@thessalyrose , I had admired the babies with no definite plan to get one, but when Peanut became available with a minimum purchase I went for it. I'm glad I did. The little body is great, it naturally falls into baby-like poses.

 

My Gru arrived a while back and it's a pretty fun sculpt. I'm absolutely in love with the hands, they're so detailed despite being so small and slim and I love plying with them by putting them in different poses. I also tried the doll with my smallest doll clothes and they fit pretty well!

They are Pukifee/ Lati yellow size made by GuguModa on Etsy, in case anyone was looking for clothing in the right size.

 

@Epicari: oh, he's precious! He looks great blank/in white with those clothes on and those little hands do look amazing^^. Thanks for the tip about clothing sizes, that's going to be useful My Gru is on his way to me as we speak, just arrived in my country, I can't wait to have him home.

 

Took a huge leap of faith and ordered a fullset Julie that’s been sitting on Dolk for some months... so, mixed feelings? Let’s go with cautiously optimistic, lmao.

There was another one sitting on the JP site (that’s been far more reliable for me in the past) for months as well, but the day I got news that meant I could spring for her she sold, of course. At least the international one was up for what worked out to be around $200 cheaper, since I think it has everything but her bow? That and she’s NS while the JP one was WS, but that doesn’t matter to me. I’ve wanted her since the original release and I’ve been so disappointed I couldn’t actually order any of the wolves before their discontinuation, so I’m just going to cross my fingers I hit the “good transaction” side of things.

I also feel a bit bad since I 100% plan on repainting her, but assuming she turns up I think I’ll leave the fullset around for a while first.

 

It’s funny. When they teased the merboys I thought oh, the wolves won’t come back anytime soon, then. Well.

That’s just the luck, I guess. I’ve decided to call this a win-win since if Dolk does its thing, worst case scenario I can order an alternative. Theoretically I don’t have to wait for production either...

On the plus side, if anyone missed the foxes or the wolves (or the human-wolves) and wanted them, now’s a good chance with the sale; I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t thinking about grabbing human Julie to match. I’ll probably procrastinate since they’re no longer limited, though.

 

I already own two Ann girls, one in WS and another in old tan skin (orange), so luckily I'm safe this time!

 

I just saw the event announcement and I've been wanting one of the little foxes for a while, but I've never been able to decide which one. Does anyone have some photos of Ann and Purple they might be willing to share?

 

I have two Ann’s because I loved the sculpt so much, even if my girl in the (old) tan is spray tan orange XD.

To be fair, with a fox, "spray tan orange" kind of works. XD They're so cute, your photos show the face off so much better than the company ones! Ann is the one I lean slightly toward, but I like something of the "inhumanness" in Purple's eyes, and it's just so hard to really get a look at both faces in the company photos that I want to see something better before I choose. Luckily, the event for them just started so I have a little time.

 

Does anyone have any pictures of Glen or Aiden to share? I know I want to get one of the boys, I'm just having a tough time deciding which.

 

I got my shipping notice today, pleasantly shocked; Dolk seems to be making up for me missing out on the sale, but I’m not complaining! Now I just have to worry if I get her while it’s still going and that’s enough to tip me over into also getting one of the other two.

@Magnus Vale, what are your thoughts on each right now? No pictures here but I definitely feel you on it being a tough decision, they’re both charming in very distinct ways.

 

@Magnus Vale - i've not done my Aiden boy's faceup yet, but if you wanted to see him with a few wig colours i can probably take some pics this weekend.
i agree with @asuu, both boys are so beautiful, though the grumpy won out for me in the end
i am considering getting one of the pets this time.... (famous last words...) why does everything gorgeous premier at the same time lately.

 

@asuu Honestly, I love both of them! Glenn has that lovely soft and calm looking expression, but Aiden has those cute little fangs! I love fanged sculpts.

@Grimalkin That would be great! I'm waffling between getting him blank since I love customizing or getting the fullset for the cute outfit. I do love Aiden's grumpy little fangy smirk, but Glenn is also super cute.

 

^^ i couldn't help it, though i keep looking at Glenn too. but i agree about the grump and smirk and he really needed that spikey bat.... i love his little monster hands and feet too. DV has such gorgeous hands. i wish i could get those merlady webbed ones separately... i'm on the verge of getting Gru just for his digits....

@Grimalkin I'm super excited to see what clothes you've gotten for your boy! My Glen and Aiden keep wearing my slim msd stuff as baggy hand-me-downs for the time being since they're the only clothes I have with snaps in the back to accommodate for Aiden's tail not to mention, they're still faceupless...

I completely forgot about Izzy and Samander so I completely missed their preorder period (Which, in truth, is better on my wallet lol...) It seems like Bor is still available on Alice's Collection, so I might try to grab him before it's too late!

 

Good thing I have a little longer to decide between Ann and Purple and still get the sale price, because I happened to be pointed to an in-stock Loxy, and....

 

@Magnus Vale - Ok here is the wig montage I hope it can help you with your ideas. it was fun to do, he made me fall in love with him all over again while taking pictures... he does these natural poses and just has such presence for such a tiny fella. I guess i need to figure out which one i think fits my Aiden character the best now! (by the way, he is "Neal")

@QAJenova - His outfit is supposed to be "YoSD" and i feel like he's swimming in it, he could probably wear fashion size or even some 1/12 size clothes he is so thin. so i may make him one like this in a tailored size, or maybe just take it in. the split over his tail is nice though.

I'm definitely leaning towards him now, he looks adorable blank and I'd love to do something with a custom face up for him!

 

@Magnus Vale - you're very welcome & no problem, he is a joy to work with .
in smaller sized wigs, i have mostly 6-7 and 7-8 for 1/4 size. the 6-7 fit him better of course, but i used a silicone cap to help keep them on.

i don't have any 5-6 wigs right now so i can't confirm if those work without the silicone cap.
mine has great magnets for his ears, they are strong! so it was not difficult to arrange the wig to cover where the ears meet.
it is funny how many wigs look horrible until the ears went on though, so be sure to try before putting one in the "no" pile. kind of crazy how may looked good, and changed his look so much!

now i need to do his face up, and decide if the silver eyes are the right ones, or if i need to get gold
we're not going to discuss how i keep looking at Glenn....

 

Me too. I won’t let myself even look at Aiden or Glen as I don’t need anymore dolls! They are so unique, sigh. I keep reminding myself I’m still waiting for Zhao and he needs top priority. It’s good to know the wolf boys are standard now, so maybe in the future.

 

Those foxes are SO cute I can hardly wait to see what everyone does with them!

 

I did it, ordered blank Aiden for myself! Honestly, I've wanted one of these little guys since the first release, so I'm happy they're unlimited now! I might pick up Glen too at some point in the far future, those big fluffy tails and ears are just too cute. I swear DV is one of the few companies that makes me drool over every size of doll.

I'm also expecting an Izzy on a Samander body at some point. I wanted a boy, but I preferred Izzy's smile.

I'm already plotting about customizing them! Thanks for letting me know about the wig size @Grimalkin , I have plenty of 6-7 wigs and a few silicone caps to start out with. I'm considering making Aiden a redhead and going full red fox with his customization, but I'm not 100% sure yet. Knowing me, I'll go off on a tangent and go pastelly.

Actually a pastel dragon might be cute too...please keep me away from the soft pastels now...XD

i really know what you mean about DV, all their sculpts are beautiful. i still have a 'couple' on my want list too

 

Julie turned up today! She's strung tighter than Fort Knox and her dress has similar ideas about fit, but she's wonderful in person and I love the look of the set even more than the company photos. She also came with just about every extra I could think of, so I'm officially out of ideas as to why she was so much cheaper than the original one I was looking at; her bow and bow hands are unpainted, but I don't think that comes out to 200 USD, lmao. Not that I'm complaining!

Made my choice, I just ordered a tan Ann. Once I decided what I wanted to do with her, the choice became pretty easy.

 

This thread is so quiet... I received my Zircon twins' eyes today (Masterpiece silicone eyes, MP still have the issue of reality not quite matching the sales pic, but the eyes worked well enough) so I was finally able to dress them up and of course now I feel like sharing^^. The wigs are temporary, but I like the colors on them. This gave me some useful information on what fits on the B6-09 and B6-10 bodies. Clothes sized for average Yo-SDs (=Volks) are a good fit lengthwise, but baggy around the torso and hips (I had to gather Wisp's pants in the back with a safety pin to keep them from falling down and to make them look like non-clown pants^^;; ) and shoes are pretty damn large on those dainty feet>.>. But hey, it worked in the end and I love seeing them come together like this^^. Meet Willow and Wisp:

Lemme resurect this thread cause I think I'm the first person to get their Zhao! I've actually had him for a couple weeks now.

This is Monji. I plan to make him a little lion boy possibly with pink fur but I'm still deciding. DV included an extra tail connector to allow him to have one tail instead of two, which was a nice surprise!


Bonus from when I opened him. He's absolutely gorgeous with beautiful sculpting but also incredibly hard to get to stand. Oh well.

Oh, he's so cute, @Cap'n! I wasn't really sold on him from the company photos, but now it looks like I might have to watch for a re-release, he's a lot more appealing in yours.

I actually really wanted him in tan but didn't want to take the risk of getting an orange doll. I really don't like that orange toned tan some companies have and the new DV tan was too new to know if it really is. I do kind of regret not getting him in black but at the time I couldn't afford that extra over $100 for the color upgrade. But being that DV is notorious for re-releasing limited sculpts, if they ever offer him again I may order another in a different color and play parts swap to have opposite color twins. Can technically still order the body but I'd want the head and ears too.

 

@Cap'n color swapping the parts would be so cool! Then having an orange tan would be a little more ok, as you could have an orange and white, or black and orange kitty. I’m really hoping the new tan is like the picture, but if not, I’ll still keep him. I only went with tan as he is supposed to be the older brother to another of my cat dolls. I didn’t know about having black as an option, expensive, but black would really be interesting. Kind of wishing I had gotten white as that’s safe and most of my anthros are white.

Looking forward to seeing your tan Zhao! I went with white since it's safe too. Plus white and blank means he would ship faster and I am impatient. He shipped in about 5 months, quick for DV. If I get another Zhao I'll probably do grey unless that tan ends up being a nice color. But now I also really love that SD kitty, Scar, since he looks like an adult version of Zhao. Still trying to figure out if I can swing one.

 

@Cap'n I also think Scar looks like a grown version of Zhao and was tempted for about a day, but he is too big, which is sad, as he is perfect. Maybe DV will make a msd sized cat, now that I would love and order!

 

@Cap'n ahhhh you got your zhao!!! I'm SO HAPPY they included a single tail joint option. (did swapping it require unstringing the whole doll?) I feel like I should be getting an email about mine anytime between now and october, I'm so excited (and totally haven't gathered items for them yet, oops... time to shop)

Are the eyes in yours right now 14mm or did you switch to something else? Low dome? They look really great!

His tail is actually magnetic! And it was really easy to switch to the single tail option. Just had to swap the end with a pair of forceps. Also the magnet on his butt fell out already but it honestly stays in place well without having to glue it in.

He wears 12mm and those are the eyes he came with. They're nice glass ones. Low dome is a must!

I just ordered Monji a fluffy pink wig so his nickname is going to be Momo.

I have a Zhao incoming myself (and I don't even know if I ever posted that the boards at all now that I think about it) but I ordered him through BJDivas at the verrrrry tail end of his order period so I'm still trying to be patient. But boy, your pictures and descriptions have me just jumping

Yay for incoming kitty cuteness! BJDivas tends to take longer to receive DV orders so here's hoping your kitty heads home soon. The magnet tail really was a nice surprise! I had a Mahiru before Zhao (whom I sold to order Zhao instead) and the foxes have strung tails with two torso options for the added hole or not. Pants were a pain to put on and dresses had to go over the tail to work. Overall it was a struggle and I just assumed Zhao would have the same but thankfully nope!

Also I'm now officially ordering a Scar in WS on layaway and I am so freaking excited to have big kitty and little kitty.

 

I picked up a 30cm body for a hybrid character and while it's arrived, i'm still waiting on the head. So for fun I tried the Gru head on the body...and I really like it

I was expecting the neck hole to be too small but to my surprise it was a very good fit. I had forgotten that the Gru body had such a chunky neck. I wonder if they used the same neck piece when sculpting the Gru body? Anyway, I think this will have to be an alternate body for the head as I'm planning a monochrome theme for the head and the body will be dyed black so should still work together

 

Ooh, I'd really love to see them together! I wonder how different the sizing will look when they're next to each other? It's so hard to imaging just using the measurements alone

 

I knew it! I've been having the urge to stick my Gru head on my Rin's body (the 30cm girl one) ever since Rin arrived, I knew Gru would look good on these bodies. I'm just not sure how to fit another adult pumpkin lady into my group and I do like Gru's original body... but I'll figure it out^^. Your plans for your Gru sound intriguing, I'm curious to see how he'll turn out, black body sounds amazing.

 

Haha, there's always room for one more pumpkin head Maybe it can be an alternative body when you fancy a change? I've not tried Gru's head on my jellyfish Rin so don't know about the neck fitting (the body I have is the chomper/ arm one). I might have to give a go when I get a moment as it's got me curious. The only down side is these DV bodies are so tall and skinny that I think most clothing will have to be custom made.
As for my Gru, i've finally gotten round to doing a digital mock up (still need to do the sides and back views to fully work out where the leaves should go). It's taken me a while to come up with a design but whether i'll have the skill to paint it is another question entirely

Yea I have a Purple from his first release, and finding a way to clothe my darling has been.... interesting. I mean, I've tried but I have not yet figured out how to do it without a weird bunch of fabric. But I bought Purple half because of that tail so I was fully prepared to figure out how to deal with it somehow.

I was always expecting some extra delay with my Zhao, at least because I was at the tail end of the order period. I know that BJDivas was having shipping issues on top of everything when I ordered so I just kind of... lengthened my expected wait since I didn't know when that would get resolved. The first time I ordered from Dream Valley I went through Angelesque... and I don't remember why I didn't go back to them when I ordered this time. Hardly matters now of course.

 

Oh wow, that certainly is a very unique and cool design, best luck with the painting^^. And yeah, getting clothes for these guys... I might end up with multiple dolls on these 30cm bodies (my Rin will get the plant arm backarm body, Gru might steal Rin's human body, I'm debating putting my DZ Carter twins on the 30cm boy body) so knowing what would fit them would help a ton. I wonder if they'd fit like Obitsu24 clothes.

 

Haha, it's a body swap-a-thon! I tried the Gru head on my jellyfish Rin doll and again, it's a perfect fit-

(Looking suave in that dress ) So Gru's head will fit the B6-07 & B6-12 bodies.
I really hope there will be some leads on clothing that will fit these slender DV dolls as it would be helpful to know!

 

@Epicari Oh wow, that looks even better than I expected, thanks for trying it out . I'm a bit hesitant to try it with my own dolls because my Rin has the infamous super tight DV stringing, I worry I won't get her head off or back on^^;;. So I'm going to leave her to loosen a bit more and try in a few weeks or so.

 

Yeah, my Rin is super tight too so took a bit of strength to pull the hook up. I did it with some sturdy ribbon in the end, as the opening on Gru's head is a little far back, so it was just slightly the wrong angle to be able to pull up with my Luts head puller which would have made that a lot easier

Btw @ShuriTigerH, if I remember rightly, do you have a Doll Family Pumpkin head? I was wondering if it would work with one of DV's 30cm bodies? I'm thinking of getting one of the pumpkin heads and would like to put it with a tall, thin looking body in the 30-35cm range. But as the heads are very large i'm not sure if it would look too big or be too heavy with the DV body I have?

 

@Epicari Yes, I do have a DF-H pumpkin head, both actually. I don't have the time to go put one of them on my Rin's body right now, but I can tell you they do work on the 30cm, on the boy body anyway, as this photo by Poupees de Cirque on Tumblr of her boys shows:



I personally think they work quite well^^. I intend to put mine on the DV 25cm body (the one Zircon comes with) and that looks okay too IMO, but it's of course up to personal taste.
