Make sure to use a polyester dye if you do, they stick better to resin than the regular cotton dye.

 

I figured out Bustet is so dainty that she fits Blythe clothes. Now I can buy her frilly dresses and she can be a fancy kitty.

 

Hey all, I have a question I'm hoping someone can help me with. I'm looking to get some tinies in the Halloween event and I noticed that the price for a basic, blank Zircon is almost 30 dollars more on Angelesque than it is on Alice's Collections. What's up with that? Is that purely Angelesque calculating exchange rates into their price and if so, does it mean that if I go with Angelesque have to buy less to get to the amount necessary for the event (but pay more apiece)? I have a feeling in the end the shipping to my country (the Netherlands) and especially the customs charges will eradicate the difference between the two dealers anyway... Also, any idea on wait times? I usually only buy second-hand or in stock, so this is kind of new for me^^;; Thanks in advance for any help!

I can really only recommend you go with ACBJD, since from January you will have to pay customs from anything coming from the UK (I’m sorry for my country lol ), and because the price discrepancies have went unanswered. Plus Angelesque has significantly longer wait times. That said, it is up to you of course! But I recommend reading the above thread for the dealer caution.

Dream Valley is between 7-9 months wait time, I got my order in 7 months from ACBJD.

 

@nattherat Thanks for the info^^. 7-9 months, holy heck O.o Well, I'll be paying customs regardless of which country I order from and if there's an issue with Angelesque I guess the choice is obvious. Imma go give this some good thought, I WANT a Gru and I really like Zircon, but I don't know if I can handle such a long wait...

 

I hope this won't count as double posting, but I did it, I just ordered for the event through ACBJD Kind of terrifying since I've never ordered dolls in an event before (like I said before I almost exclusively buy secondhand or in-stock), but I couldn't pass this one up. So now I'm waiting for Zircon twins in grey skin (boy and girl) with a set of beast hands for each, a Peanut in grey with bodyblushing and a fullset Gru. I guess I should expect them around Easter or something

 

Oooh, really liking the new jellyfish dolls! (They remind me a bit of the LuMu jellyish dolls Dollzone did a while back). And of course, once again I love the little pet doll as I have a real soft spot for seahorses.

Honestly though, it is starting to frustrate me a bit now that DV keeps making such cute or creative pets dolls but only making them available with such a big spend requirement. I know adding it in as a freebie for larger orders is really generous but for people like me who only collect MSD and smaller dolls then there's no hope. I liked how they offered the Peanut doll recently, allowing you to buy it if you bought a DV product. I wish DV would do that with all their pet dolls!

 

Sometimes Alice's lists petdolls for separate order, so just keep checking their in-stock page. Whenever someone doesn't want the petdoll or cancels their order, they end up there. That's how I recently got a Gem of Doll Dommy (petdoll fish) without ordering a fullset Capricorn doll.

 

Okay, I realize this thread is... not very active, but I need to rant for a moment. I kind of fell pretty hard for the new tinies Bless and Cheer, or for their bodies anyway. I've developed a thing for dolls with extra eyes and that demon arm is just perfect, and the venus flytrap arm is such an original idea, I love it. So now I have a dilemma (again). I have the money to put in another order at ACBJD, but I don't like the idea of spending money on a full doll when I don't really need the head (and they don't sell the body separately), and more importantly, THE WAIT TIMES. I'm almost through my second month of waiting for my Halloween event order, with likely another 5 or so to go x_x I'm not sure if I can get myself to put in another order with such a long wait time. Alternatively I could wait for the New Year's orders to start shipping and then try and find a few bodies on the MP, but that would entail even more waiting. It would help if at least one of my two current orders with ACBJD would show some progress>.>. Oh well, back to deliberating some more while the event is still going, I don't even know if they're limited sculpts or not.

Also, small question: does anyone know which Dream Valley skin color (as listed by ACBJD) is closest to Dollzone peach skin? Would that be normal or normal pink? Thanks in advance!

 

i've also been looking at these, and i will be curious to know what folks think about the magnet, since the 1/4 sized 3 armed dolls are strung. if they were 1/4 i'd have probably already sunk myself into an order since those arms are awesome

But, looks like Bless and Cheer are not limited, so after the event, you will still be able to purchase them, which is pretty cool since i've seen sales up to 20% off on DV.

i would hazard that most people buying these two want the cool bodies, and DV does let you buy separate bodies for non-limited sculpts, and they seem to be allowing it already. LINK
i do not think DV sends a COA tag for just the body though.

All my DV are white, but i do have some DC & DZ peach. the peach is so pale, so your choice might depend on what kind of face up you have planned. the peach is pink toned, so blushing it darker in my opinion would be easier towards DV's pink.

i have a couple of pics i took for resin comparison, maybe they would help you. the light is crazy in my place, so i took several versions, you can see them all on my flickr too. spoilered the last two pics as dolls shown are both larger than this topic and from other companies. the pointer lines are kind of small so if anything is confusing just let me know in my opinion, there is no difference in the white from all 3 companies, though it will be interesting to see if they all yellow at the same rate.

@Grimalkin Thank you so much for that informative reply and all the pictures! The head I would be looking to hybrid is a peach skin Yo-Carter head with the default faceup. I'm not sure what year he is as I got him secondhand. I'm sure a little blushing will indeed go a long way to minimize the color difference.

That's awesome they sell the bodies separately, I totally missed that they do. I'll keep the option in mind though, thanks very much again .

@ShuriTigerH I'm on month 8 waiting for my giraffes, and a little over a year for Rosa. Even when I ordered the original run of Ann it was still around an 8 month wait.

The plant arm is fantastic! If she's still available in 6 months, I might order one.

Ooh, my Coco bunny has arrived-

I love how huge her ears are, I can't stop playing with them. Still thinking over what I want to do for the face up. I'm thinking about either colouring the points like a Himalayan rabbit or dying her black and painting a galaxy/star theme inside the ears and on part of the face and body. Hmm decisions, decisions

@Epicari Aww, so cute!!! Thank you for sharing her. How is her posing?

 

About what you'd expect for a pet doll. The head, arms and chest joint have a good range of movement for this kind of doll, but the legs are quite limited. With a little fiddling, it will stand on it's own so don't have to lean it against something (though would lean or sit it if going to leave it unattended to be safe)
Interesting the doll stands better when it has the weight of the head/ears on. The doll arrived with the head taken off so it could fit better in the box and I found the body on it's own wouldn't stand but once I put the head on, I could get it stand. And yup, even with this small doll, it needed a bit of strength to put the head on as the elastic is very strong/ tight

I just finished month 3 of waiting for my DV Halloween event order and I ended up soothing the wait by getting a DV Cerise fullset that had been sitting on Ebay for probably forever by the look of it and who arrived home last week^^. I had been waffling about her for a long time, she was definitely pulling on me but she didn't spark any concrete character ideas (it did not help that the seller put her eyes in wonky so she was wall-eyed and I couldn't see her true face and potential for the life of me). I eventually decided to try and make her into a character I had planned another DV mold for, hoping she'd give me more inspiration once I had her in hand. Once she arrived, I realized what the problem was: her fullset is NOT flattering on her IMHO, especially the wig. I put her in a different dress, found a wig that's a lot closer in color and cut to her character design and gave her new eyes a size larger (14mm). She lost her eyelashes in the process, but I don't think that's a bad thing, if anything they were hiding her eyeshape. And then the click was there^^.

So, here's my little Vivi, she will get the plant arm body and some mods and she will be my venus flytrap girl. Excuse the weird lighting, pictures taken with flash in a nearly pitch black room right before I went to bed (she's sitting on my nightstand between my SD Volks girls).

Here's my little Gary I got as an event doll in July. I was so happy to get him and my Silina as my dad died from complications from covid two weeks ago. Getting to coo over these made my mom smile, which made me happy. Having something nice to look forward to really helped.

 

So sorry to hear about your dad. Your dragon is adorable, and I hope he continues to provide smiles!

The kittytaurs were already cute enough to tempt me... but Zhao has me crawling out of hiding... he's darling... ughh

 

Well, DV finally got me! I just put Zhao on a six month layaway with BJDivas. I know it will be a long wait, but a nice surprise this winter. I got him blank, in the light tan, with the optional cat paws.

 

I love that the new event has the kittytaurs in black resin!

Eyes have arrived for my Bustet, and I think one more good work session will finish the wig. Then I need to figure out blushing... or dyeing.

 

@kurogane I'm with you! I'm inevitably going to put him on layaway too, I can feel it. Just sorting out my budget now.

@redsixwing how are you liking the kittytaurs posability? They're so unique I can't think of a place for them among my crew, but I just love looking at them and the adorable posing!!

 

@Beedalee yay, another Zhao! I had to figure out my finances too. Just couldn’t let him go, as he fits in with my kitty crew so well.

 

I really loved the idea of the cataurs when they first came out, but skipped them because the heads weren't my style. But then I saw Zhao, and wondered what would happen if you switched the heads...



I've already got a split set up; I'm planning to keep the Zhao head and cataur body in white and make them into a celestial lion/sphinx.

 

Let me take some comparison photos with her and my other centaur, and get back to you!
She's super cute but definitely has some quirks. The cat body is really nice, and the tail balances easily upright, which I like.
The upper body has some issues - unfortunately her shoulders and neck joint are unstable, so her head and arms kick a lot. I'm currently hoping that adjusting her tension and sueding will help.

I really interested to see the new anthro bodies! I've been looking for a good 1/6 anthro body for a few years now for one of my characters (Soom ones look good except their paws only have three toes instead of four so no go ). I'm very curious about how they pose with the extra leg joint, I expect it'll be fun to have that as a working joint
I'm also happy they've added the option of black resin, I think quite a few DV dolls would work well in black resin!

@redsixwing is your Bustet in the ‘new’ tan, or the old one? Either way, I like the color!

 

It looks like the old tan was discontinued in October of 2020, so she's old tan - I ordered her in April.
The new tan is gorgeous too! I'm curious how different they are.

 

@redsixwing thank you! That’s good news! Seeing your Bustet in natural light, it is a really nice color, and she’s even cuter. Amazing what the right pictures can do to show new light on a sculpt!

 

I've been debating on what color to order a Zhao in for a couple days. Initially I wanted tan but I really don't like the old Tan that looks orange and for the upcharge I don't think I want to take that chance. I really love the black but that's to much of an upcharge for me to afford. So I was going to go NS but then I got to thinking that WS may be easier to dye/color however I want. I may use him as my first dye project (never done so before and I'm a lil nervous) or I could possibly pay someone else to dye him for me.

So I think I FINALLY decided on going the WS route. Seems more cat-like anyways. And I kind of want to make him based off Kuro from Ao no Exorcist so starting with a white base seems a lot easier. Or I have a silver fox character he could become. Either way I'll be ordering him either today or tomorrow!

I really need to work on my Bustet, at least get her a proper wig.

 

Going ahead with my Bustet/Zhao head swap plan. Ordered both in white - if I didn't already have a split partner lined up I might have tried for a custom Bustet bod/Zhao head in tan or black, but I guess I'm technically saving money this way lol. Plus white will prob be better for getting some fancy faceup and body blushing done on him - I'm thinking a celestial lion look.

I haven't popped in here for a hot minute, but thank you both @redsixwing and @marephome for the generous amounts of posing photos. I can understand the extra sueding/wiring needed for so many little joints, but they sure are the cutest little things.... (On the other hand, seeing all the posing photos makes me suffer all over again... because they're soooo cute! Noooo... )

That being said, I have also jumped onto the Zhao bandwagon. I went for pink resin but I also have a dye project in mind. Hopefully I will have more dyeing experience by the end of this year too. I can't wait to see what everyone plans to do with all of their kitties!!

 

Finally got her a wig, still trying to will myself to clean off my desk to do faceups though. I've been having trouble getting motivated for anything

 

Man all these Bustet photos have me second guessing deciding not to order her... I love kittytaurs but her oversized human half makes me uncomfortable--but with clothing it actually looks really cute..

Wow, the painting on their wings looks great! The pet dolls are honestly more tempting to me, though. DV always has great pet accompaniments and this is no exception.

 

Ahh I love both the tinies as well as the pet dragons I feel bad; my Aiden and Glen dolls are still blank and naked, but here I am looking at potential new dolls...
