Oh noo now i almost want it more xD Definitely would be outside my budget, so I'll have to settle for looking at the painted pictures and seeing what other people do with it
Ooh, black and red. Darn it, now I want to get a black one, name it Bahamut and let it hang out with my FF figures...
Daaaaang I want the red version for DnD reasons, but I definitely can't afford it since I just spent a bunch on a dollpamm order.
Piggybacking on this comment to see if anyone has found feminine shoes for this long footed body? I'm heavily considering having someone mod her feet, even the larger of shoes from Alice Collections do not fit oof
You may have some luck with Dollmore shoes. I unfortunately don't have any at this point, because my girl on the B56-01 body has clunker goth boots on, but I've heard that Dollmore Glamour Eve shoes with DC Y-03/04 feet and those also suffer from "long and thin feet" syndrome (My DC Y-04 bodied girl is wearing boy converse shoes)
I have the B56-01 body. The feet are very long for a feminine doll, I'm having a lot of trouble. The foot measures around 7.8cm
I've recently ordered a few custom-tailoring options for my Dream Valley Lloyd, as his body type is very slim. Few things fit him nicely, so I'm hopeful for this as he's one of my partner and I's favorites in our crew. I'll update when the outfit pieces arrive (or if the seller responds and lets me know it isn't possible due to how slim he is). Kami Zone is unable to customize for him, that much I've discovered in my digging around.
Lloyd's custom clothing haul from Pabadoll arrived today! Nearly everything fit, only one shirt and pair of trousers did not. I've sent Pabadoll a message inquiring about those, but I'm very happy with the rest of the order. My partner and I's lanky boy finally has some outfits! He also has a nice sweater vest and very soft white knit-style cardigan (and a second turtleneck in black).
@Nissa - ooh, he's handsome! Unrelated, but I couldn't help but notice that your tag line is "a fiend for wigs." Dollmore is having a 40% off sale until May 31...
@MaleficentMrsofEvil oh thank you! Alas, I have overspent my doll budget these past two months, but elsewise I might've gone to raid that. I think my next project is mainly getting a rotary dremel tool to very slightly widen Lloyd's wrist and ankle channels for S-hooks, as he can't use regular 1/3rd ones, but 1/4th ones are too small.
She's 51cm so she may be more relevant here than in the other thread, but my bone butterfly arrived today. Her body is a gift for a friend so I won't be keeping it, but I did want to play with it a little. Things I noticed: -super loosely strung, especially compared to DV's other dolls. I assume this is to prevent any damage to the the hollow spine the elastic goes through. -The spine IS posable; it has a balljoint at the pelvis and another near the chest, but it's not super stable. Definitely requires wiring if you want her to hold a consistent pose. -her head is a bit smaller than DV's other minis. I compared it to my Achelous head and tried her head on my dragon Sylves body and the head is more in line, proportionally, with mature dolls. If anyone else is splitting the head and body, her head might be a little too small for DV's other bodies. Her head still goes on, but there's a bit of a gap showing from the neckhole + the neck will look REALLY long. Nothing a bit of sanding can't fix, but just as a heads up. -her blank body came with little inset gems on her hips. Nail art decorations? -she can't sit super well due to not being able to sit up well + bones jutting out from her pelvis. Her promo art did have her sitting, but she might need a pillar or seat to sit on rather than hanging out on a shelf. -gorgeous sculpting on her body, the decorations on her legs, and her face.
So I just got some Dollmore shoes, and Dollmore Model F shoes are a perfect fit. Long, skinny feet. Dollzone and Doll Chateau feet are very similar to Dream Valley. I know Doll Chateau and Dream Valley are sister companies, and someone said something about Dollzone being one, too? The only thing I would caution is that Doll Chateau feet are even skinnier than Dream Valley, if you can believe it. But yeah - Dollmore Model F shoes are perfect.
I am pretty sure that Coral Reef, Doll Chateau, Dollzone, Dream Valley, also TinyFox (OT) and a couple more are all part of the same group.
Dollzone, Doll Chateau, TinyFox, and Penny's Box all are the same group. Dream Valley and Coral Reef are old sculptors from DZ&DC that split off to start their own companies. That's why they all feel similar style wise! In other news, my DV Alter will be delivered Monday and I am ecstatic
Oh totally makes sense. I read "affiliated with Shenzhen Cultural Development" (something like that) on all these companies' info page and assumed this was some sort of mother group that covered all of them.
I worked on my wrist and ankle widening with Lloyd today - job done, and a complete success. I didn't need to widen them all that much, just enough for ordinary 1/3rd s-hooks to fit. Restringing or tightening his stringing will now be a lot easier. This adjustment improved his hand mobility quite a bit, and he also stands better now.
Finally, my Alter (named Territh) made it home today! I’m hoping to paint him still this week. I’m really happy with how he looks so far though!
@IzabethS Aww you have one! I've been thinking of ordering him (I always worry about DV discontinuing sculpts and I love his tiny smile). How do you like him so far? (Your image isn't loading for me, but if you've posted elsewhere of him I'd love to see and hear all about everything! )
@Nissa Thanks! I’m super excited for him, even if he’s a noodly and slippery bean pole (which is perfect for the character). I’ve already decided that once I undress him next I will wire him so he stops bending his knees so easily, aka falling. His smile is my favorite part for sure! I noticed the images don’t want to load today on DoA unless you hit reply, then they show up in the reply window. But I got his box opening Imgur album right here! Dressing him took me a good 45 minutes as I had no idea how to put the outfit on him. I finally looked up the sales images and pieced it together through that!
@IzabethS oh he's adorable!! I was recently wondering if DV is still defaulting Alter and Sirius to the same body as my Lloyd, this one vs. the newer 73cm one. If you find him tricky to tighten stringing on do to DV's pinched-in s-hooks, I very recently widened Lloyd's wrist and ankle channels with a dremel to fit more standard 1/3 s-hooks. Doing so actually improved his wrist/ankle mobility and function - he definitely stands better now, more easily. Also, outfit-wise - I've been ordering clothing pieces by Pabadoll, so some of the makers have patterns to suit his size if you'd like additional pieces. I love that hanfu you have for him, blues seem to suit your boy very well!
Thank you!! I'm excited to paint him for sure. And yes, he is still on the 71cm boy body, which is perfect for the character my Alter is shelling. I do own a version of the 73cm one (my Soom Heliot/DV Horseman hybrid) as I am pretty sure the Apocalypse Horseman Withered is a modified version of it. The torso and arms are identical, legs and hands are obviously different since he has horse hooves. I'm happy with his flexibility so far, but I do want to wire him when I undress him next. The outfit I have him in currently is his outfit to wear, as it is fancy enough to work for a king, and it's different enough to look like from another culture (He's a half dragon/human, and he grew up in a monastery far from his kingdom with no knowledge of his heritage). My other dragon person has a different styled outfit, but he's the general of his army. I do have one more, but he's dressed very casual, gonna have to commission him an outfit too...
Sorry for the double post, but I finished my Alter’s Faceup yesterday and took some nice portrait pictures of him. He looks so gentle and surrounded by an air of whimsy. I’m so glad I finally have him
@IzabethS aww he's turned out beautifully!!! I, too, love the matchy work with his gold tones. Just gorgeous!
Thank you! Thanks! I'm so glad I decided to add golden scales along his face after all, it's such a nice touch with his golden horns too. Thank you!! I'm so glad I accidentally picked this outfit as originally I wanted a white and yellow one, but the fabric was no longer available, so the seller offered me several different outfits to get instead. I meant to get a dark blue one, but selected the wrong link and ended up with the white/blue/gold outfit, which works great too, it's a nice contrast to the gold!
Does the new Feathered Serpent--Ehecatl count as a 1/3 or a 1/4? It's hard to tell because of its unusual shape.
I'm pretty sure it's 1/4 - like my mantitaurs. They classify it based on head/torso size. This newest series of 1/4 scale dolls has swappable bottom halves - so the serpent could also have human legs (like my bone mermaid and mantitaurs). But he's something like 100+ cm long with his tail, so I get the confusion.
I’m adding to my dream valley doll family, I finally bit the bullet and got an in stock Vanora in light tan. I tried to talk myself out of her since she was released last year…
Just wanted to share a picture of my Sirius now that he has a wig and clothes. His name is Henry I am still waiting for his horns.
Thank you, I think so too! I took some pics in better lighting too to show her color better! I just think she's gorgeous! I really need to take pics of her with my other DV bodied girl (B56-01 with a DZ head) as a comparison
@IzabethS - she's lovely! and what a cute outfit and that really tan is such a nice tone - it's such a huge improvement from their orange-tan in the past!
Thank you so much! This is their light tan and it’s definitely nicer than the orange tan they had. I have an Ann in the orange tan, which really derailed my plans for her… I need to take a pic of them together at some point! I got Iona (my Vanora above) two different colored wigs to try. One is a dark purple and the other is a pink/purple/blue mix in more pastel tones, but in the same style as this grey one. Who knows, she may still stick with the grey one, but I really want her to have a colorful wig
@IzabethS Your Iona is beautiful. Vanora is such a pretty sculpt. I think she’d look wonderful in purple. Have you all seen Dream Valleys new 75cm boy body. It looks like they are going for a more mainstream popular style with a standard muscular man figure. Dream Valley first drew me in with their unique style and fantasy focus. I’m interested to see how people find the different head attachment method as it’s very different from the norm. He has magnetic arms as well. so I wonder if they have plans in the pipeline to release fantasy parts that you can swap out. I wonder how strong the magnets are with 75cm being so large.
So for anyone who owns the B56-01 like myself, I was recently at NYC Doll Con where Denver Doll was vending and they had three shoes that fit her feet perfectly (like Cinderella's glass slipper). It was the Shoe Shack Anna in SD White and Anna in SD Black, and the LS-270 #Silver.
I think this is the right thread for her, since shes 53 cm without heels, but is anyone else feeling in danger with the new girl? She's so pretty! I'm not sure how i feel about the skeletal aspects though
I am so tempted by her! I love the instrument as doll concept, and her ceramic-ish texture is amazing . The molding on her spine is the only bit I'm so-so on, the rest of her makes sense as a take on a violin, but that I have a harder time parsing as complimentary to the idea.
Odd detail, but I think I have an idea for how to color/blush her. I won't be able to order her, though. That might be a good thing. I enjoy looking at her.
I come bearing good tidings! Rejoice, for the Hulk of BJD stringing is still with us. He just doesn't work for Dream Valley anymore. Looks like he started his own company Qiangsheng Doll. I ordered the milk candy body cuz it was cheap for 1/3 (with optional parts, tan resin, and shipping, less than $300). The listings have disappeared since then. The IG post from Jane's Dolland is the only thing I could find. I suspect she was a "loss leader": a low-priced doll to generate interest in the company. The body arrived yesterday, and the trademark DV stink smacked me in the face when I opened the box. The feet are almost identical to DV, and she is strung so tight, it's wild. There's only one man who strings like that - (former) DV man! However, I am still quite sad. Looks like DV isn't putting out any new really big girls for a while.
I'm still kind of sad they didn't make a human version of the 1/3 girl body they released with Vanora and Adria. It was really pretty!
So in danger I kept looking at her every day and finally caved in this morning she'll be my first resin girl. I couldn't resist her gorgeous face and her concept, also the striking gold and ceramic look had me
Does anyone else with a Scar (or any other big sculpt with digitigrade/ungulate legs) have a really hard time getting him to stand? I've never once been able to get my giant cat man to stand. His knees and ankles can't seem to support his own weight and always buckle immediately. I've hot-glue sueded his joints and have tried to wire him, but I can't seem to fit a wire through his channels. My 1/4 scale Dream Valleys with digitigrade legs don't have this issue at all.
Huh, odd, both my Apocalypse Horseman Withered body hybrid (Jamil) and my Vanora (Iona) can stand on their own. Jamil does struggle though as he’s heavy with being 75cm tall. His ankles do try and buckle if I shift his weight when standing
New A heads up that Dream Valley is currently re-releasing past limited dolls, and the 70cm+ Apocalypse Horseman is one of them. The notice is on Rednote/XHS and Weibo. All of the re-releases are 1/4 dolls except Horseman. DV is releasing them in order of popular vote - Horseman got the fewest votes, so he'll be last in the re-release queue. As of writing, the 1/4 Ghost Moth is up for order and her preorder duration is one week. (Legenddoll and Alice's Collections posted this in BJD News.) Not sure yet how DV will be timing these re-releases, but if Ghost Moth is the example, I suspect the timing will be close together and the duration for each re-release will last one week. I guess we'll find out the pattern when Ghost Moth closes and the next one opens. Anyway, just a heads up that if you wanted Apocalypse Horseman, this is your chance to get him from DV. Don't know when his preorders starts, so keep some money aside and keep an eye on news.
