Iplehouse wouldn't work for just the feet part as their joints are different.

I also read that maybe Loong Soul pink skin might be a match.

Same here @Buzzibee I saved I think every single doll image they had on their site.. And outfits ☹️ I keep checking the website hoping I get a different response, but I'm still getting the 404 message. I hope they come back

Calla is such a cutie!!!! She's one of the last few I was able to get from them before I had to change money situation for a while. Her wig is being a bit bratty not wanting to style right, but she is a beauty

Came here to see if the website being down was recent news.
If they haven't posted a notice talking about taking the site down, then I would assume it is temporary. I would think they'd have to notify people with open orders, in one way or another, if the site wasn't coming back up.

edit: hmm, now I see the site has been out for a couple weeks? hm...
edit2: oh... they've been basically vanishing since july... T_T

I'm shocked, I haven't surfed their site in months and this happens.
Still toying with the idea of buying another doll but... dunno if I can ever prioritize the cost. T_T

 

The website being permanently down was a recent thing... started 1st nov i think ? Their contract with the host could have ran out then >.< .... They are a pretty big company tho so it is unlikely that they will just shut down without notice .... but this is worrying ._.

 

Ehh... sometimes companies just vanish without saying anything. Sometimes they don't make an announcement because they aren't sure what their plans are, then things just kind of... fall apart.

I'm not sure if I would call them a "big company". I heard once that they only had at most like 4 people working for them. ): BJD companies in general tend to run pretty small. I hope we hear news soon, I've been checking in once in a while only to see them disappear more. I've owned 7 of their dolls and I'm sad if they're gone for good. ):

 

They must have been big enough to have survive for 13 years ._. .....

Yeah, the first I noticed if the official downside was on Halloween of all days

I'd been hoping they would do a re-release of Black Elf Sha, but now that seems very unlikely. I'd been inquiring about the Return to Memory future events since end of 2014, and they never gave any official answer on when the next one would be. Was basically told they didn't have any information or plan of when the next one would happen or what dolls were being considered. Same type of response for months on end.

Maybe there is some kind of major shift going on that they just can't talk about. I would prefer that to them being gone for good... I just hope the shift wouldn't erase all of their original dolls designs like what happened with Elfdoll after they went down for a long while... Same names were on the dolls, but the faces and appearances were drastically altered.

 

Yeah I would hope at least they give their molds to another company if they really are truly going over, like some dying companies have. But with absolute no word or anything, I'm expecting the worse at this point. *sighs* They really haven't put out anything new in a significant amount of time which had me worried already and I feel like their sales (at least here on the Western side since no idea how their Korean sales are) have gone down a lot as you see less and less folks getting them. So I can't help but wonder if they decided it wasn't worth keeping it up and that the whole "site being worked on" was just a front for "we're closing sales while we decide if its worth staying opened or not".

I'm so devastated as I really wanted an U-i badly and wish I hadn't waited so long. I wanted some more outfits too. I guess I'll just start stalking the marketplace from now on. DOD was my very first company and most of my dolls are from them so its going to be hard getting over this. There was a time where DODs were everywhere and everyone knew who they were. Hell I still see ebay sellers selling cheap rip-off costumes of some of their designs still. But I guess the times truly are changing.

Also to those that mentioned being smart enough to save the photos off the site, do you mind sharing with some of us who weren't smart enough to do that? lol I'd at least like the photos of U-i to use if I have to try to find a doll from a different company now. And the stock photos of the dolls I own.

 

yeah, I kind of... really want the pictures lol. maybe someone can dump a zip file of them on dropbox? I personally would like the fullset pics of the DOTs.

 

Well, big enough could still mean less then 5 people. It's not that hard to stay in business with 3-5 people in a niche hobby, especially if a bulk of the work, like say the casting was outsourced to a casting company. Think of BJD companies like mom and pop stores, in a small market with little competition it's not hard to make ends meet and make a little profit. But that also means that any changes in the status quo can have huge effects. More competition, a change in buyer habits, a change in circumstances for the people running the business, and you end up having to close up shop.

 

I would like to second the request for the website photos...I didn't save any because I didn't think the site would just up and vanish!

 

This is really depressing, DOD is my favorite company. Ducan is just the love of my doll world- my Genesis and I was so hoping they'd branch out and do a grey ducan since they wouldn't do another black ducan. This was always my secret wish.

 

If anyone can tell me how to post them id put some pics on here I'm totally clueless how to do it

 

@WinterSong If you have a flickr account, or photobucket account it might be better to make an album with the pictures inside and then just link to the album here, and people can save whatever photos they want.

 

This is pretty much what I expected. I'm assuming the announcement of a new web site and new orders was likely some financial reorganization that must not have met with success. When the emails started bouncing then it seemed like the end. That's why I told people to grab photos a couple months ago. Luckily I grabbed the last few I wanted a week ago. All I got was Lilth, Elf Ony, Shall and Thalia though which are probably the ones no one wants. I checked and the web site is already out of google's cache. But the larger images are gone. This is what has happened with some sites like with Angeheim. One moment they're there and then poof! They're gone. It's a sad state of affairs. If they came back I was going to order Lilth. Alas, that will never be.

@dollhausen thanks for the link. i have been mia for months so I had no idea DOD was disappearing. just got the clue when the first day I thought I'd take a look happened to be nov 1st. T_T

I was looking for pics of original old Shall Camine Lahoo. my favorite trio . I think a really long time ago I saved some, but lost them (probably on the dead computer lol)
I'm finding a few low-res images posted in random sites but yeah... not the same lol

If anyone can take the time to post them on an image share site (or just make a public dropbox link which might be easier? to just dump the files on all at once) I'd really appreciate it. T_T thank you

 

I got through most of the dolls - I think I only missed the dream/event heads? I was busy trying to get through the wigs when it went down! I can either make a huge gallery on my own webspace or dump them all on dropbox if people prefer.

I'm so sad right now. I can't believe the very first BJD company I ever came across is gone forever.

 

Same - my two favourite companies are Dream of Doll and Custom House and they're both defunct now! I had a proper little cry when I saw the DOD website was gone
I've still got my first little Bee-a from them - I've got 9 full DOD with my incoming impulse Isis, and 3 heads - and I wanted a good few more!

 

@Shido Ooh you have a lot of the site's doll pics? Whatever upload method is easier for you, I would be most grateful! I don't mind either way, I'd just be happy to save them.

If feels so weird to know DOD is MIA. The other company I have dolls from is still making lots of dolls (Dollzone), but their style has changed drastically over the years, and by now all of the old molds & bodies I loved have been finally phased out completely.

It feels kind of lonely.

I really liked the more "anime style" faces, but so many on the market are more realistic, or like old fashioned European dolls or something. Then you have Dollfie Dreams which are basically anime made real lol. I loved DOD because they were in-between, in my opinion anyways.

 

I'm so disapointed I never got to ordering an E-an for myself, I was waiting for them to come back and this is just so sad. I feel a little heart broken over her. Guess she'll go on the grail list.

If you guys are after pictures, I searchedfor DOD via Yahoo japan ( trying to trawl auctions for 2nd hand )
and found this page. Not Sure it's official but they still hold a bunch of company photos if anyone wants to save them.

The in-between look is definitely my thing as well - I loved too how you could instantly tell a BJD was from DOD by it's look!

 

Sorry to interrupt... I found these guys recently, not knowing much about them, except they're DoDs. Very sadly, the website went down before I could compare and ID them. Could someone tell me who they are? I got them originally for their bodies but they've been growing on me and I'd like to keep and know as much as possible about them. Thanks!!

Is B perhaps a Shall? It's hard to tell with the face ups sometimes...

 

Ok I have a photobucket account somewhere o_o I may have to create a new one when I can get on something other than my phone again. I saved... Basically almost every image there was if not all of them. The throwback site that was posted recently does still have quite a few pictures on it so I saved banners too.

@ATYL Im not positive, but I think Doll A might be Calla. Doll B.... Might be Shall, again my sure but appearance is similar.

 

I'm kicking myself for not asking if I could buy Sha as a graduation gift with the money my family gave me all those years ago. It never occurred to me that they might close before I could get him. RIP.

@ATYL - I actually just sold my Shall of 7 years, so I've spent a while looking at her face obviously. Doll B definitely looks like a Shall to me! I'm pretty confident on that one.

Lehst - I always felt the same way about DOD's molds. They are a kinda in between the anime and realistic style and I've always really loved that. I know a lot of my friends prefer more realistic but I like the fantasy type and DOD was and will always be my fav.

 

@ATYL I'm no expert since I only have the one DoD but that looks like this photo of my Thalia. She has the DoD goth faceup.

@ATYL I'm also certain that doll B is Shall. My first guess was either Shall or Camine, but looking at it more and comparing, I say it is Shall. I still have one at home, so i tilted her head like the picture

@Selenae Yeah I'm really kicking myself too. I wish I had prioritized dolls more, I wonder which ones I might have picked. I (and my bf too actually) liked to look and think about which ones we thought were cool. ah well...

Maybe Sha will show up for sale secondhand. Or if you find a Shall head, and put it on a boy's body (they are the same sculpt, just boys have a bigger neck-hole.) Maybe a body from another company if you have to.

"She" actually might be a Sha - seems they share the same mold (Dream of Doll DoT Sha Discussion) - I just realized I might have switched their heads during repair... oops! love how versatile s/he is though!!

 

@ATYL yeah it depends on if the head is on a boy or girl body. Sha has a bigger neck-hole to fit the wider neck on boy bodies.

 

Ugh, I'm so sad about this! I never got a body for my elf Sha head, and I wanted to get an upgraded body for our DoTs, and I've always loved all their sculpts and wanted a Ducan someday.... At least we managed to get our whole little family before they vanished. Here's a picture of them all the day Tzeitel (our Shall) arrived:



This is the second favorite company of mine to lose like this-- Angel Region basically just doesn't exist anymore (just as a weird offshoot of Soom that makes totally different style dolls). DoD was easily the next favorite, they didn't even know how to make a bad-looking doll. As tastes and buying habits change (and with a totally stagnant secondhand marketplace) I'm afraid we'll see this happening more and more often, even with companies once thought untouchable. I guess I'll just have to haunt the marketplace along with the rest of us, now.

Yeah I had thought about getting a body from DOD, but was never serious about it. lol guess I won't now XD

I still have an unpainted Dream head ver 1. I like it, but not enough to have ever invested in it, like commission a face-up. I keep thinking I could get it painted and just head swap sometimes, but I know I won't want to put any other head (character) away lol.

I still just don't know what to do with it. : /
Didn't really feel like making a sales post either.

 

I've always wanted a DoI code 2 and one of the newer releases, kious... but never actually got around to buying them because other dolls kinda just popped up >.< ... Really regretting it now tho.... I just looked around the marketplace and there werent any kious' up for sale T_T

side note : I tried to get some photos of Haru today but the prince didnt feel like cooperating so i cant join the photo spam yet >.<

 

I have so many different names for my Lahoo and Shall... I keep giving them different characters, and they usually reflect a different nationality lol, so among them there's western, Japanese, and now Korean names... (which finally makes sense since they are technically from Korea!) XDD

I'd like to introduce Kim Ji-hyun and Park Seong-min ^_^
