Dream of Doll: DoT and DoI - Part 6

Ah... 2011 head on a brand new body is a no go for sure D: Even if its been kept out of the sunlight, there will be a colour difference, unless of course you dont mind it...

 

I just found a D.O.T. body from January 2012... \o/ I'm guessing that will be a good match? I sure hope so!

 

It might be, depending on how exposed it was to the sun/climate xD Lucky find tho!! If you decide on getting it, i hope the colour works out for u Werent you eyeing a DoI tho o.o ?

 

Yes, but all the D.O.I. heads have options to be sold with D.O.T. bodies, so if it doesn't fit, I'm gonna have to ask D.O.D. a few questions! XD

 

They do have the option to drop the size, so i guess the head are interchangeable xD I guess its a preference of if you want a 70cm doll, or a 60cm doll :P

 

It's more 65cm vs 70cm from the measurements, so I don't think it will be that shocking, ultimately? I'll ask on Photo Reference

 

Is anyone else worried about Dream of doll? For a few months now they were supposed to be changing their site. They always get back to you right away on their Q&A. I feel like no one is ordering from them anymore also and feared their end coming up.. They stopped answering on their Q&A.. I am worried this may be the end of them which greatly pains me.. There are still dolls I really wanted from them T__T

 

When was the last time they even came out with a new doll?

Has anyone here ordered anything from them during the time period of their site maintenance? I saw that post about e-mailing them to make orders but I was hoping to wait til they got the site back up and running 'cause I'd rather use that for security sake but its odd that it's still like that? I really want to order my U-i now that I can finally afford her plus some outfits.

 

I hope someone ordered from them T_T I also hope everything goes back in stock.. It will be very sad if not.

 

They just added new outfits to the website, but I asked a few questions via email a few days ago and they didn't answer... It's not clear enough if/that you can still order, and not having the prices is a bit put off :/

 

I hope they're just busy with site maintenance or something. My very first doll is from DoD and they are still my favorite company to date. They used to be really quick with email replies too, so this is really worrying.

They do not seem to have been answering anyone on their Q&A board for a month either. I assumed that they might be on a sort of summer break, but usually people do not all go at once, for that long.
I still do not think there is any need to worry - they will be back!

 

Someone recently ordered from them through email and posted about it here, in a waiting room: /threads/dream-of-doll-waiting-room.712297/ She got her doll August 8.

I had thought they had gone out of business too before finding that thread, as I haven't heard anything from or about them in ages. Still, I think I'll send them an email and see if they have a planned date for putting their website back in action.

By the way, maybe someone can help me with the eye size for D.O.I.? My guess was 16mm but I'm scared to order the perfect eyes and then they will be too small ;;

 

@NessieChan Which sculpt are you purchasing the eyes for? If you scroll all the way down on the sculpt's listing on DoD's website, you'll be able to find their recommended eye sizes. But it's usually 14mm-16mm so I think you'll be fine!

I do have a DOT Lahoo who's using 16mm (14mm just doesn't work on him), and a DOI The B who has 14mm eyes on. I can take a picture of the different sizes on them if you like.

I think the 16mm with low Dome will be good for ducan.14mm is fine fo code02, but small for ducan (It can be seen some plasticine in eye*s orbit). So it all depends on the doll .
what kind of doll you are looking eyes for?)))

 

Thanks! The sculpt I'm getting is the Dream Head Ver. 4, the previous owner told me to get 18mm so now I'm more confused o.O I did try finding it on their page, but it's pretty confusing... >.< Not all the sculpts have information and they have different ones... I hope they really redo their website soon and correctly haha :P

Ok everybody... Let's see if this works. I haven't been able to really post since my computer died and i miss being able to share things and see everyone's lovely little ones. I made some promises before i disappeared and, if this works, i will have kept them. This is Gray. I'll post him with a face after but i know some of you had wanted to see the Oorl blank.

 

Oh! He's just beautiful. I didn't think Orll would look that wonderful without a faceup, but he's got great features. His mouth is more interesting than I thought it'd be. And I just love that heavy nose. He's so tempting....

Wow, he sure has a strong personality, even without a faceup! It's the first doll I actually like blank... He's gorgeous!

 

@uncorn I posted a picture of just his face-up for you to check out on my Flickr so you could see him without hair and such. It is hard to capture the details of his face with his hair because of the shadows it makes. I thought you might like to see it more clearly but i didn't want to just post his bald self and then another picture of him clothed, lol. He's being an attention hog.

@NessieChan He has a VERY strong personality. I made some clothes for a commission and had to make doubles for him because he insisted. Gray himself was always interested in doing things that pleased him. Everything he wears, feels good. Those whom he shares his time with only hold his attention so long as they are amusing. Even the minds he connects with, it's all about the feel, the perfect high, that moment of ever prescious euphoria, the peace before death where pain no longer exists. That's just how Gray rolls. What's the point if you can't enjoy yourself?

 

I just sent them another email as well asking when we would be able to place new orders. Not only do I want to get another doll or two, but my E-an from 2007 is in desperate need of restringing, and I'd only bought one cord before I found out she requires two.

I'd sent an email back in June asking if current dolls would still be available after their site rearrangement, and about default wig availability... Default wig for Homme Ducan's no longer available, but they had said they'd provide nice random wig for it. That sounded like they were still planning on taking orders or were taking orders.

On a previous email I'd sent on May 20th, they referred to their site maintenance as check-up time for their website.

I just wish they'd post another official announcement. I'd been hoping for another re-release because that was at least happening once a year, but that hasn't happened since 2014 now I think. I hope they come back soon.

 

Oh, shoot! I forgot to email them. I recently restrung my E-an with Dollmore 3.5mm elastic, I believe, and while better she's still not 100%. At least she's able to stand-ish, haha. Please post if they answer!

 

I've been dreaming of having Tahlia home with me for what seems like forever. I finally have the money but the website seems to be down (though I see that email address in a higher post, so I'll try that). However, does anyone have any pictures of her to feed my fix? Thank you in advance!!

 

Considering re-sending the email.... I know they don't reply on weekends, but normally when I've emailed on a Friday I get responses on Sunday night my time. It being Tuesday and still no word I'm getting a bit more concerned .....

XD You just reminded me of the fact that I still have to get a body for the Event doll head I got when I purchased Calla beginning of last year. I was planning to get the body not long after then life got in the way >_<;; Hopefully they still have the same ones available when they reopen... I say when because I'm not considering the alternative <_< Elfdoll had closed down for a while and came back... If I remember right.

 

Hi @WinterSong ! I believe Korea has a week-long holiday this week, so you might get response next week. At least we know now that they are not ignoring you on purpose

 

Did anyone get an answer to their emails, in the end? I doubt so :S

But I'm happy, I finally got my boy! He's second hand, but still, my first BJD and I was able to get the one I really wanted from the start. Body and head come from different sellers and were made in different years, so the resins yellowed differently, but I don't care! He's so handsome. The clothes are only temporary ones I made for him while I wait for the ones I ordered online, but I couldn't wait to show him off!

Yes, Tahlia. You don't see many of those around. I have to admit that they had pictures on the web site that made her look white and when I got her I was disappointed that she was so pink. I think DoD would have sold more dolls if they offered white and normal. But I loved her all the same. Here's another pic.

@Lyn Yep this is starting to feel like when Angelheim went under. A web site that sits there with nothing but pretty pictures until it's gone. I was hoping they were coming back so I could get Lilth (Lilith I think). But the longer they sit in radio silence...

 

I'm starting to worry about DoD too. I had been thinking about maybe getting a girl from them at some point but now....

(p.s I have two Angelheim msd's and love them to bits. I'll forever be sad I did not get the other ones I wanted before the company went poof)

 

I've been waiting to get another pair of those long PVC gloves they sell... : They make such nice clothes, as well as lovely dolls, so I sure hope they're not going under too!

 

So no one's heard anything at all then? I looked up South Korean holidays too <_> there hadn't been any in the time span of when I sent emails. Sent multiple ones really. Last time I actually got a reply was either one in May or early July.

I still have the 2015 event doll head that I was planning on getting a new male body 2nd version to go with it.... Guess the head won't have a body for a while... Not sure how often those body versions come up secondhand. I really really hope they open up again... I remember when Elfdoll shut down for... Quite a while, it just wasn't the same. I just hope if/when they do re-open... That they still sell original dolls too

 

Oh god I was part of that Angelheim fiasco too. They went under when I was getting my Jin from them. So I really hope that doesn't happen to DOD too or else I'll feel like I'm cursed. T_T That and DOD was my first doll company and is what got me into BJDs really and I can't imagine a world without them!

 

Tried to go onto DOD's website and all I get now is an error message.........

O_o I just checked on my end. The website still loads the page like usual for me. Really wish they'd post another announcement.

Went back and checked their Question & Answer Board... The last one I see that has an actual reply to it... Was on June 15th, which is about around the last time I had an email reply from them . For some reason I've never been able to read the posts on the Question & Answer page or post on it even though I have an account

 

The site seems the same for me, too. I just wish they would announce something, but maybe they really will just fade into memory without a word.

 

Yeah sorry about the worry there! Its back for me too but it was definitely down for quite a while last night. It scared me bad with the whole lack of anything from them. But maybe the fact that they got it back up is a good sign? I dunno, I'm trying to be optimistic here. lol I love this company too much and I have been planning my U-i out for years now so I'll be devastated if I can't get her. T_T

I hate to disappoint, but their site goes "offline", or has had that error message showing, from time to time, in the past too... But one should think they would have some sort of update to share by now.

 

I hate to say it... But I truly think DOD is done.. I sent an email a while ago and nothing.. I really wanted a brand new A&D but it doesn't look like that is going to happen T__T

Oh, this is awful! It's breaking my heart to see one of the first BJD companies I discovered as a kid shutting down. Sha has been on my wishlist for years. I'll be upset if I can't get him.

 

@Selenae Yeah, I feel you... I need a body, I want a Tender Shall, Kiril and Ivan, possibly a Twin-B.... and my first want from DOD, ever, was a Lahoo. I ended up choosing Sha as my first boy, instead, because I changed my mind about Lahoo, but I decided that I want one again. Of course, it was way before DOD decided to do this. =_=
