Dream of Doll: DoT and DoI - Part 6

Ahhh so I would've had to repaint it myself anyways at some point XD I'm kinda glad I didn't go with it outright then cause I would've probably flipped out thinking is damaged something if it had gotten chipped or anything o_o;;; I might try making her nails blue or purple eventually but haven't a clue how to go about it. Any tips?

 

I keep getting hopeful and go to check the old DOD link.... and get disappointed when it still says Forbidden. :-( I want them back so much. I mean there are some Doll pairs I want beyond belief from one or two other companies but DOD made my first doll. Never thought they would disappear.

 

My second doll was a DOT and I really love their dolls. I was shocked when they disappeared and I keep forgetting until someone mentions the company then I check to see if they are back yet. I wish I knew what happened too. I got my two main wants, but I was interested in a couple others 'one day'. Its so sad to think they are probably gone forever.

I think I saw an ebay store with the Dream of Doll name too, but I don't think I would trust something that isn't a new site from them myself.

 

Use acrylic paint for doing nails. If you want them shiny, add gloss on top after. Do not use human nail polish unless you want to ruin the doll.

 

O_o people have used human nail polish on them?! >_< That's the one thing I wouldn't consider for it since I figured it had too much chemicals in it for it to be safe for a doll. Any acrylic paint? Annnnd what sort of gloss?

 

Any acrylic paint is fine, though you'll have a better results working with a good craft or art brand, not dollar store off-brand. Use acrylic gloss in any finish you prefer (regular, high gloss, semi gloss, satin, etc).

 

I'm still a bit clueless on paint brands at the moment. Lol ask me about pencils or markers and I'm great but paint in still learning. Which brands are the good craft ones? Alsooo what do I use to get it off that won't damage the doll?

Anytime! Now the DOT boys are about 64cm, if that’s more to the height you were looking for.

 

Its been awhile since ive taken the prince out for a photoshoot xD ..... (might have been a year actually) But atleast he was sort of co-operative ^^" ...

I’m looking at a Ringdoll outfit for one of my boys. Ringdoll sets are beautiful. Good to know their clothes fit the DODs quite nicely!

 

The top is actually a tad big for DoTs xD .... but DoTs waists are a bit too wide to fit the clothes properly ? I had to do a tad of modifications to get it to fit right ^^"

Did DOD shut down?! Its been a while but when I tried to look up their site its just gone D=!! which is horrible because I loved some of their dolls!

Does anyone know where I can still find their dolls? I'm not familiar on how I can get a doll second hand I've always bought directly from the website to prevent the scary situation of possibly having a recast. But I would really like to own one since they had some of the coolest sculpts.

Hello everyone! How about new members? =З I've been in hobby for a long time, but got here just now... Yes, I'm turtle a little bit ^__^" I want to start here, because DOD (Sha actually *O*) has led me to the world of dolls. And here's my first BJD, my first love and my first... everything! Isaac

Isn't it completely gone now? But yeah, I too hope they would oneday come back. But I doubt it after they disappeared without saying goodbye... If I remember it correctly, didn't they say they were updating the site, moving to new location or something? And for a while the site were up while we waited for them to get things back on track.Then they just were gone without a word!

I imagine many were sad, dissapointed and angry they left without saying anything. But if they ever do come back I'll be more than nappy to forget all that! I'd be happy just to see them back in business.

 

Believe me, if DOD suddenly popped back up tomorrow, I wouldn’t bother with a “Where’d you go?” I’d just be like “Thank goodness you’re back!!”

I always hold out hope they’ll come back some day but I’m not holding my breath.

In the meantime, I’ll simply focus on the lovely DOD dolls I do have and spoil them with all manner of clothes and accessories and what not!

 

Same here! I do have a DOI Luke, Crush and a DOC Pitts. But had I known they would be gone I would have ordered Tender Too and Bee-a, and maybe a new Sha.

 

Speaking about the dolls...do you guys have any idea where I might be able to find a Calla ?

I've been searching in about...a dozen of FB doll market (I guess, I never counted them) for a long time and she's still nowhere to be found. I'm so exhausted

Calla is a hard one to find. I placed a WTB thread last year and lucked out but I haven’t seen one on any market place for while. Mind you, I encourage you to keep searching and do WTB threads where you can. You never know if/when someone will decide to shift part of their collection or if their Calla no longer fits the character.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you! And an eye out in case anything does come up.

I do find it kinda strange, before DOD vanished into the night, I could recall plenty of DOD dolls moving on the market place. But now a days....so few. Either they are going off to sell in smaller circles or everyone is holding tight to what they have.

 

I swear I’m missing DOD more and more everyday. I regret not reshelling my Kirill into a bigger size when I had the chance, since now I’m just kind of scrambling to find another doll that would fit his aesthetic. Needless to say my Kirill will never be leaving me and will stay as Soren’s “chibi” version for as long as life allows, but the hunt is definitely a struggle.

I have the same thought with you about DOD dolls on MP, yet they are considered rare now so maybe that's why people don't sell them. Still thank God their prices haven't raise too high like Volks or Soom.

 

I am also bummed that they closed. I was actually ready to order a Calla myself when they went POOF. I also really wanted Caracal (or however it was spelled). Actually, I wanted many of them T_T

 

I've been meaning to post here for a while now. I have two Dream of Doll boys, Camine and Luke ver.1 both were on my wish list since I joined the hobby back in 2008. With my Camine, I was able to find him on the DoA market for a decent price. I got really lucky with my Luke ver.1 though. I got him shortly before Dream of Doll disappeared. There were a couple others I wanted but I doubt I'll ever get a chance to have them.

@CrimsonDeath - Thank you so much! He was always one for my favorites and eventually ended up being somewhat of a grail doll for me. Never actually thought I'd have him.

I can relate. My grail doll was (and remains) E-an. She was the first bjd I bought and she’s still with me today. She’s the most favorite of the bunch. The jewel of my crew.

 

Loki (my H.Ducan) was my first doll. He's the one that got me into the hobby. He is also my fave I also later got an Elf Ducan when they were rereleased. His name is King and he is Loki's older brother. They don't get along well.

Oh gosh, Ducan was the first doll I ever wanted. Hopefully someday I’ll be able to track one down, but until then I’ll cry over everyone else’s

Ah! Your boys are handsome, loving the blue hair. I’m just as bad with E-an. Fell in love with the sculpt so hard over the years I’ve acquired another E-an and then a tender E-an. Three E-ans! Because their styles are so different, I think of the three of them as cousins to one another.

i was on long hiatus due to personal life (marriage, baby etc), and yesterday when i attended our local meet with my Homme Ducan, one of my hobby friends just told me that DOD is gone D: ahhh i was shocked, i feel that my Homme Ducan is very precious right now, I'm so glad to have him T^T he is still wearing his default face up, i guess im not gonna change it even its a bit worn out now

 

E-an was my first and was a gift, god I love her. I had her for seven years before finally being able to expand my family with Too and Bee-A, then Calla cause come on she looks so awesome. I actually got the kitty tattoo on her too My last doll before life got in the way was Petsha's full set.... now I have a random doll head with no body... the one thing I kick myself over was not getting the DOT Type 2 Boy body for it, but at the time it was choice of Petsha or that

Oh I hear ya! My poor Dream Head V3 has to share a body with one of my other boys because I foolishly thought ‘Oh, I’ll get a body for him later.’ and bought other dolls. Now I just have to hold out and wait for one to show up on the mp or take a risk and try to hybrid him with a body from another company.

 

@gwenithcoy Yeaaa I've considered the hybrid route but ehhhh I just really want the official matching body. I got the dream head during the early 2015 event when I got Calla... got eyes for it even....just.... got Petsha instead of the body..... I didn't realize they'd be folding within the following year and a half when life got in the way of buying more

 

On this topic, does anyone have any suggestions of decent resin matches? I have the same issue with my dream head and I don't even know where to start with finding him a body. :c
