Dolpa3 NYC co-hosted by FDQ - Discussion Thread

I'm not sure where to ask this question so since I purchased the School Head B at Dolpa3NYC I thought it would be okay to ask here. I also got the wig and eye kit and got brown eyes. What size eyes does this head take so I could also get other eye colors?

I'm not exactly sure, but I believe that the eyes issued in the kit were 18mm. I think School Head B would look good with 20mm as well. I hope this helps!

 

I got him today, He is totally gorgeous!!! *swoon* Is anyone having problems with his ears??? one of them stays in great the other one is pretty loose..I guess i will have to put a little eye putty to keep it in

Other than that I am in LOVE with him!! His skintone is absolutely gorgeous!

From what I've heard before that's just a problem with the Volks heads that come with ears. I know my friend took her FCS elf boy to the SD Doctor at Dolpa and they were able to fix it, but I'm not sure what they did. I think they sprayed something on it, but no idea what.

 

My B-Head wears 16mms! But he could also wear 18s.

(It depends on the look you want for him. Bigger irises make them look younger & more distant, smaller irises make them look older & more alert.)

 

mine wears 18mm's as that is what I had on hand when I got her, but I have a pair of 20's now too. edit~ oops, just saw cammy's reply. ha-ha. Well, I'll PM you the comparison right now anyways.^^

 

I went to the Doll Doctor for my MSd F-13 elf ears.

They sprayed the ear stem with this spray to build it up. It made the stem thicker so it wouldn't slip out. I took a picture of the spray since I never saw it before.



Also they cut two new rubber ear tubes that they glued in.

 

Took my FCS elf to the Doll Doctor at NYC Dolpa 3 and now his ears stay put! They used a spray....I'm thinking a liquid resin spray.

Everybody I know who has special-FCS-eared dolls has the same problem with the ears dropping out at some point! Poor elves & dragons. ;; Maybe it's time for them to build KIPS for ear-holes. If they did cut new 'rubber ear tubes' for them at the DollyDoc's, maybe they'll start offering them when you buy special ears.

I bought some for my elves online after doll doctor visit just in case.

There are 6 pairs in this package that fit Volks elves. You have to cut them with exacto knife to fit tight to head.

Volks uses glue on outside of the tube to squeeze it tighter too.

 

Perhaps someone who lives near VolksUSA can check out the store for these or someone will do a group order as I have the feeling that shipping would be a great deal.

 

I just got my Irvin yesterday, but I've only had time to play with him today! First thing's first, I took out the eyes and put in 16mm HG Green glass eyes. I think the 16mm size works best for him, but choosing a wig style and color is so much more difficult.

His ears fit securely. With any of the elven heads, the fit of the ears is unpredictable. And I'm not exactly sure if the ears loosen up over time.

I sure will share pictures of both "Cam-Cam" and "Gotham"! I'll need to see what I can do about Gotham's somewhat limited wardrobe though...he currently has only two outfits...then again, he's pretty darn cute in his natural angel state too.

As for my Yo-Megu (Cam-Cam), now that I think about it, I seem to recall Volks stating something like our dolls would be made in the order they were paid for, and I know I didn't pay for mine until a bit of time had passed due to other bills due at the time. So I guess I just need to embrace the saying...good things are worth waiting for.

Wow, thanks for the tip! I had never spotted those before. Probably because I don't even HAVE any special-eared dolls myself... But I do know some folks who do, and they can't get to Dolly Doctor in person, so they've been using eye-putty; they will be happy for this info. Much obliged.

 

Thanks for all the replies I am going to the LA Dolpha (if they have it there again) and will take him to get fixed up. It is just a slight annoyance as he is soo handsome

Regarding Yo-SD's - I received a phone call from UPS saying that my package will be delivered tomorrow between 8A - 7P, so someone needs to be there to sign. lol.... I imagine I'll be picking it up at the UPS building.

 

me too... i HOPE he comes after 5, I'll be home. If I have to drive 30 miles to pick up that %Y$* package, I will be pissed.

 

If after the third try they haven't had chance to deliver it, you can request a last re-delivery or request a change of address. I had this happen before; had to request a re-delivery to my work place since I'm usually not home. I did by phone, but you can also do via website.

 

I never received a tracking number e-mail nor did my order page ever show one. This morning at work, they were like is anyone expecting a package that needs a signature? Well, that could have been anything, but it was my Yo-SD Sara. She arrived here at work! Of course, I forgot my camera at home today, so no pics until tomorrow.

The order sheet for the extra yo hands is completely in Japanese. I have no clue what to do with it, so I'm wondering if can we order them or not?

That sheet will not work, it is only if you are in Japan & that ordering period is over. However Volks sent out an email to all winners & gave a URL where you can order your hands If you didn't receive an email from Volks I would contact them asap.

My YoSD Nana is wandering around. Seem UPS had the wrong address so they couldn't deliver it. I called and gave them my work address but somehow I get the feeling they'll mess that up too!

 

I am so disgusted with UPS. Don't people... you know... WORK on their routes? Of course I wasn't home, and if I'm not home tomorrow, they'll try again monday (guess what I'm doing monday? um... WORKING???)

If i can't get it on monday, I have to drive 1/2 hour away to effing Horsham to pick it up.

I am really pissed off. I'm SORRY I don't have a rich husband so I can be home and not at work. I'm SORRY I have a job that I can't get things delivered there - I will get in trouble.

Man am I pissed off. If I have to drive to effing horsham I am going to pitch a fit.

That's bullcrap, Sher. They're supposed to redeliver if you call. I pitched a fit a couple years ago when they left a notice for Ichigo even though I was home and they sent the driver back to my house. You just gotta get mad-yet-not-losing-it-but-clearly-disappointed enough, I guess, or talk to the right supervisor.

 

really? well if I miss him tomorrow, I'll call and pitch a fit. she's like "we have no way of..." and I'm thinking wtf. So UPS doesn't have cell phones? bullshit.

 

She's full of it, then. They're fully capable of calling their drivers. She probably just doesn't want to do it. Around here, they go back to their HQs at 7. Seriously, call the local UPS pickup and see if you can go there if they won't bring it to you.

 

My Irvin and Yo-Sara came today.

 

I called UPS and they are delivering to my work tomorrow. At least I hope they do as they sent the package to an imaginary address!!

I don't have a clue why it came Signature Required as the Dolpa 19 items and Irvin didn't have to be signed for. I am quite p o'ed about this myself. I don't mean to be nasty to Volks but darn it I paid for the shipping not them so why are they requiring a signature? Or why didn't they ask for an alternative address so it could have been delivered to my office? If they used USPS at least it would be close by and would have gotten here sooner.

My UPS hub is not as far away as your UPS but I'm guessing that your USPS local office is a great deal closer and they're open on Saturday too!

 

I'm sure they're trying to be safe... after all, in some areas packages left on doorsteps get stolen. I just don't get why they don't understand that 99% of the people WORK jeez oh pete, and aren't home until after 5. I know they deliver after 5 ... often they COME after 5, so I was hopeful.

I understand the fact that items could be stolen. But I do not understand why if they had to deliver UPS they didn't ask for alternative addresses as so many people do have day jobs. Also they did not offer any choice of carriers and like I said the USPS is open on Saturday and delivers then also.

Irvin cost more than this doll and I didn't have to sign for him. Also the Dolpa 19 items weren't exactly cheap and Volks didn't ask for a signature on them either. I think the method of delivery should be up to the buyer, at least at a minimum the buyer can say whether they want to have a signature required and/or be offered the chance to have the item delivered at work. It's the buyer who is paying for the shipping! FDQ offered alternative carriers when they shipped Irvin and Volks could have done the same.

 

I wish we could have chosen, too. Sigh. Oh well. It's okay, today I'll get lucky and be home this time! I hope!!

 

My little girlie's out for delivery. About a week before they shipped the dolls, I e-mailed Volks to change the shipping address. They never e-mailed me back, so...hopefully she's actually going to my work address! (I'm taking her wig and clothes with me today, 'cause I'm optimistic like that.)

 

I totally forgot that volks uses ups to ship. I should have asked if I could have my FCS doll shipped to my parents two blocks down. I won't be home to sign for things in October

I wonder if the leaving a post-it note at the door will work I think that's what I did for last year's FCS

 

I had my doll shipped to my work- I just emailed them after the fact because I forgot.

 

They tried to deliver her to my home yesterday, but I was at work (DUH). I called the 800 number on the slip that they left and had her rerouted to my work address. She should show up today!

 

It's so great to hear so many people are receiving their Yos~!

Still waiting on Irvin here, but he should be coming soon.

 

Yo Megu is here!!!! the re-scheduled delivery said between 10:30 and 2PM and at 1:59 the ups truck drove up. i"m impressed with how perfectly she is strung, besides how incredibly beautiful this girl is. I'm thinking of a white cashmere sweater for with a red rose knitted in , maybe on one sleeve.

 

okay okay she is here, and kira, so far, is the blushiest, pinkest of them all! lolly's is all blushy too!

she's REALLY cute. She isn't going to live here, that was predetermined but... I'll get some pics of her first. BOY she's cute.

Makes that rant you made yesterday look very insignificant, considering some have to wait up to an extra week due to UPS mistakes.

Yes and it's awesome that someone would do this for you. However she did admit she was ranting and apologized for it, I have no problem against that. It was just a bit upsetting for me to see someone upset over missing a package being delivered due to work when my whole day I was looking forward to having my girl being home when I got back from work and find out that they were unable to deliver her because they couldn't find my street and she wouldn't be redelivered till after the 14th. I called and they will be redelivering her on Monday but it was every upsetting for me.

Not to stir the pot, but shouldn't you have been sympathetic since you were both experiencing difficulties with shipping? I don't understand how it was so upsetting for you that someone else's frustration was eased with the arrival of their doll. *shrugs*

My little Nana arrived Thursday and she's on her way to her new home. I helped someone get their girl and that makes me super happy!
