I'm so excited to have dates! I wasn't able to attend last year and was afraid the dates this year might interfere with another trip I'm planning, but it looks like it might not. x3 Now to start in on the saving and planning.

AWESOME. I'm so glad this isn't going to interfere with Dollectable, as I desperately want to go to both. And I'll have plenty of Volks babies to bring with me. Eee!

My first Dolpa. Anyone in along the east coast want to ride with me? I'm planning on driving, since NYC is only a 6 hour drive from Richmond.

 

one thing you cannot do is just show up. You apply through Volks USA when the application is posted on their blog, and pay any fees at that time. It will list what you need to apply. They will e-mail you confirmation and tickets. Then if you do go to the NY Dolpa, you will need a photo ID to get in, your name and info checked off against the list of those attending. all the info will be posted. it is still quite early.

ooh, I know exactly where FIT is. :O one of my friends from highschool goes there, I think. so totally going. hop on the train, maybe both days I'll do that rather than trying to get a hotel room... too expensive and it's hard to get a decent one. :P

I'm guessing, as a friend of mine told me, that Volks dolls come with a little card that allows you access into Dolpas. anyone know exactly what this alleged card looks like? my Kasumi came with so much I don't know what is what. o___O;

Volks dolls don't come with cards. However, when you make an order with Volks USA, you are eligible to get a membership card. This card gives you access to Volks events.

I really want to go! I know I told myself I wouldn't be going to NYC again for another Dolpa but its sooooo tempting. Last year was so much fun! I really want to go

 

I'll be there with Bells on, or maybe just one of my babies or two or three.... I am so glad they've finally confirmed the dates!!!!! But does anyone else find the dates a bit iffy? I mean Friday~Saturday I understand Saturday~Sunday, but a weekday?... Sounds a little fishy to me, but I don't care I'm gonna be there!!!!! And if should Volks by some miricale decide to offer the make up courses once Again I'm Putting in for one this time.... Ohhh I hope they offer a GORGEOUS Amelia One Off I can take home, that would be reason enough for me

I'm hoping for more school heads other than School A and SwD School A if they do offer the classes. I'd love another C -- or even a B head.

 

I was just about to comment on that too, Anthony. They've always done Sat-Sun events for events so I had wondered if Fri-Sat was a typo?

Me too, we'd like some variety here! And I really don't like either of the A heads but want to do the painting class, le sigh.

I'd also really like to see the limited be a male doll. None of the American limited girls have done anything for me, and I know I'm not the only one hoping for some boy love.

And you're right! I just looked at my calender, and the 6th and 7th are on a Friday and Saturday! I hope everyone will be able to schedule around that.

I'd love to go to the Sanrio store with you, Cammy! I didn't get to go to too many places during the first NY Dolpa, so I'm going to try and stay for an extra day just to go exploring. x3

 

Actually Friday-Saturday it's perfect for me since I work Sat-Tues with Saturday and Sunday being my two long days, taking those two off really kills my paychecks. >_<

If they give us a choice for School Heads like they did last year I'm voting for B & C. I know lots of people love the A heads (I'm one of them), but there needs to be just a little bit of variety right?

Edit: Cammy where's the Sanrio store?? Last time I didn't do much exploring and only made it to AG, Nintendo World and Kinokuniya. I -have- to get to Sanrio.

Cammy I was planning on bringing my Aree-chan for dolly doctor for her ears. Maybe I'll rotate days and bring one one day and the other another day. i can manage one msd and one yo size a day I think.

 

I had so much fun last year, I'm definitely planning on going this year, and possibly staying longer in the city as well. I would just *love* to win another one-off, as well! I do hope the dates are a typo, it seems that a Friday Dolpa day might be a little shorter than two full weekend days. :<

I don't think I can go to the Dolpa. Again. But I'd love to look as far into planning it out as I could in case I actually get to go. What airport is nearby? What hotel is closet to FIT? Where do most attendees stay at?

 

I'm really mad I missed out on the LA Dolls Party. I'm wondering if there is any way in hell that I could make it to NY in June.

I'd probably have to not go to ANY other cons all summer.

My mom doesn't wanna go to New York, so if I'm able to get a job/save all the money in my life, I'm gonna try to fly to NY.

When do you think we'll hear anything from Volks as far as the applications are concerned?

 

I'm planning on going^^ I had to cancel last year cause I got pregnant but this year I definitely want to go^^ And I will go to the Sanrio store with you guys, I was there last month but I didn't get to spend much time in there. It had a lot of cute things though, and a Hello Kitty kimono in the window But I think the cutest things of all were all of the guys in there chatting with each other....they were apparantly Christmas shopping for their girlfriends^^

Oh man, I'm excited^^ I really want to see some of Anthony's girls in person.

then I'm guessing there will be a sign-up page at some point, and if there's too many entrants they'll do a lottery for entry into the Dolpa, right? I'm quite confused as to how one goes about attending one of these things.

 

When you made a purchase on-line on the Volks International or Volks USA (on-line or in person) they give you a membership number (like a customer number). So if you have purchased from them directly, (meaning the doll you have was purchased directly from Volks) then you should have a number. You can either to the site (meaning Volks USA or Volks Intl) to ask them to find the number for you. You do not have to buy a doll to get a membership card. You just need to make any kind of purchase, wigs or clothes are fine too.

Once you have your membership number, then when the application for Dolpa is available, you can fill one out, pay the fee (yes, there is a separate fee for attending Dolpa) and go to Dolpa. Volks does this lottery system for admission if there are too many applicants.

I had so much fun at last Dolpa, I am really tempted to go the one in NY. Especially since they are not sure if they will be keeping the November Dolpa in LA or not. It would be much more expensive for me to travel to another location in November since it is so close to Thanksgiving. Time to start saving.

I wish for a boy limited this time, but my closet space wishes for otherwise LOL

 

I bought my doll secondhand in the MP, not from Volks. (it's a YoTenshi Kasumi, in case that will make any difference.) so does that mean I'd have to buy something from Volks in order to get a number, or will there be one in the system for my Kasumi even though I didn't buy her from Volks? and is it guaranteed that I will get a card if I buy something, or is it something I would either have to ask specifically for and/or something given out randomly with orders?

I'm going to assume that right now there are other people in this boat and would need to know, too.

Actually, I am reallyyyyy hoping for a cutesy anime style girl MSD as the limited. Since they kinda "got rid of" most of the MSD anime style molds.. it's time for some fresh faces!
Ohhh I *really* hope they offer make-up again! This time my Fiance can take it, and get a body for his Sw.Dr. head!

I get to see Cammy, Aree, Anthony, Naki, and everyone else again!! Yayyyyy!

You have to purchase something directly from Volks USA and the Yo-Tenshis were not available through Volks USA. You have to buy directly from Volks USA to be in their system, a pair of eyes, make-up materials, etc. They should send you a card with a # with your first purchase directly from them.

As for your cute Yo-Tenshi, you can bring volks dolls with you. It is a Volks event so might as well mention now for those new to the Volks Dolpas, please do not bring any dolls other than Volks to the the NYC Dolpa. You can bring other dolls to meet-ups in your hotel, etc. but not to the Volks Party.

 

Thats so great, this will be my first one and I would love to get on the Face up class.
Volks sent me this card when I ordered some items a few months back.

Should be lots of fun.
