I wonder if this time the limited(s) will be handled like the Ruby and Garnet in LA.

I personally think the limited would be a re-release of the RozenMaiden dolls, and SDC Renee and whatnot.

I check everyday to see if registration has started yet. This will be my first Dolpa.

My first bjd will be here in time for convention....but what to wear?

 

nice thoughts, but I doubt if there would be a chance. This is co-hosted by FDQ and the past 2 NY events, the doll has been released as an FDQ exclusive. Some Yo's would be nice though, just to give the East Coast a bit of of what was offered on the West coast.- Barb

 

What to wear for you or your doll? Dolls....anything goes. You....anything goes. LOL People dressed in all attire. Some in jeans some in dresses. Be comfortable. It's not a dressy occasion but you don't want to look like a slob either. Just nice, comfortable clothes.

 

Actually, of all the dolls Volks has released, these seem like the least likely to ever make a "round 2" release. I figure we can probably expect a new sd16 guy or girl or Volks might re-release an "American favorite" like...hmmm, who is everyone pining for? Probably a Tokyo Boys Story doll....

I'd be very happy for a second chance for Yukinojo, who fits both possibilities as both a 16 and Tokyo Boy....

 

I've got my fingers, toes and eyes crossed for a second releasing of Tsukasa Kanoe.

 

I'm really really hoping for a SDC boy. But I know my chances for that are extremely slim. ^_^

yo's would be cute too, hopefully they wont offer just one doll like they have before.

Yes, you sign up for painting classes at the same time. They ask for your top three in order (example: face-up class 1, face-up class 2, body maintenance 1, body maintenance 2).

They ask you if you are interested then when they close registration they send you an e-mail saying if you have gotten into the dolpa and if you have gotten into a class, which one and what time/ session. You shortly there after get an e-mail with your entrance ticket for your class. Then you can go.

That is pretty much the process more or less.

 

I was thinking of what my doll should wear. I will have to carry her so she doesn't need sensible shoes. Rocking Horse ballerinas? High Heeled Platforms? Hmmmm. I will have to think on it.

 

I hope they offer really super cute outfits. I would love more BABY things, but they had two outfits in Los Angeles in NOV. T_T

Oh well, I just hope I get in and can take a face up class.

 

I have a question...I have a Yo-sd hybrid (Puff head with a Soom Teenie body) do you think I would be able to take him with me? Or should I just ask Volks?(wanted to check here first~.^)

It is a Volks Dolpa, only for Volks Super Dollfies ,MSD, Yo SD.... , not a BJD convention where all BJDs are welcome. and they will be able to tell if the bodies, hands, feet, are not Volks. Maybe you can borrow a Volks body from a friend. I believe this has been brought up before in other Volks Dolpa threads and Volks only dolls means that the complete doll be by Volks. Clothing, wigs, shoes, do not have to be Volks products but the dolls brought into the Dolpa do have to be.

You can bring your doll or other BJDS to meetups in the hotels, etc. that are not part of the Dolpa event. - Barb

Even if I'm not gonna be able to make it, I'm gonna make one of my friends in NY get me a School head. Paying 300+ for one when they are like 170 in the actually classes, is kinda ridiculous.

 

Heh... I'm hopefully going to babysit one of my friend's Yo-SDs, since I don't have any Volks dolls either. So when do we start planning the meetups that aren't Volks related?

 

Omg, if they re-released Yukinojo, it would be so fantastically awesome. XD I don't really see it happening, but I would be incredibly excited if it did! I don't know why Volks has released 4 SD16 girls and only one boy, then skipped right on ahead to SD17 boys.

 

Don't fret alanna, all that will come together as soon as the dust settles. And everyone figures out where they are staying and the schedules for Dolpa are posted.

 

I'm curious to see who they will release as well. I really hope they will do FCS, I would love to do one this year.

 

Ohhh, I'm getting so antsy!!! I can't wait for June!! I just know that this year will be even better then last year!

I might have to play the devil's advocate by hoping they release a cute SD/MSD/Yo Girl. Since they released an SD Girl (Masha) last time, I'm a bit more hopeful! And more h.NAOTO/BTSSB dress sets!!! That would be wonderful!

I absolutely love the white btssb set I got at the LA Dolpa.. I haven't been able to get my Kurumi to wear anything else since November

 

I may be the odd one out, but I'd like some boy's clothes. Probably SD-sized. My newest boy needs some spiffy new threads. ^_^

 

I'd love a yosd as well but since it's FDQ co-sponsored I'm hoping at the very least an sdc since at least an sdc could be fashion related since it's a bit more mature

 

My wallet/credit card would be sobbing if they had a SDC (hopefully boy). ;p I'm fairly lucky, but not that lucky.

I think you're right, Aree. They'd probably release a doll with a more mature body then a Yo. An SDC would be great too! Renee was adorable, but I think it's too soon to hope for a re-release just yet.

Hopefully it's theme based of some sort. I wasn't necessarily hoping for a rerelease it's also nice to have a dolpa specific doll not just rereleases. Makes it more special somehow.

I'm hoping for a SDC girl since boys don't seem to fit in my family. If they did I would have gotten a Kurt. Oddly finds the froggy features endearing.

I am curious and hoping for more news on the work on the dolls that Mr Shigeta mentioned last year. Remeber he said they have zoukeimura working on really tiny parts for dolls possibly smaller than a rei-tenshi. I'm really curious how one could go any smaller then those.

 

Once we get into Dolpa, what goes on?

I know that there are Volks limited items to purchase and classes, but what other kind of events? Is there a salesroom? On Youtube, I have seen footage of Dolpas and it looks as if there are dealers from around the world with clothes and accessories for sale.

I am in the market for sweet lolita parasols for my girl.

gah I'm so excited I can't wait to sign up ._. I've never BEEN to a dolpa before and I don't even own any volks dolls ahah... maybe by june I will!? we'll see O_O but I just can't wait to go.

 

For the last two years the NY Dolpas haven't had international dealers. Last year the only items for sale were Volks store items, limited Sumika Items and the exclusive doll. Some lucky people won the privilege of buying one-off or memorial dolls by lottery

I'm hoping that since Dolpa LA had dealers maybe they'll have some in NY this time. Though the area where the event is being held is really small to have an extensive dealers room

I was wondering, based on last year, how does the NY Dolpha work? Do I have to subscribe to FDQ? Or can I just be a Volks member to participate? And at NY, they only had one limited doll? Is that correct?

I'm kinda a newbie to the Volks/Dolpa stuff. I went to the one in LA in Nov 2007 and had a blast and I'd love to make it to NY to be a part of this one and meet more fantastic people.

A rerelease of Jun T would certainly break me. I've adored her for a long time.

 

I think you just need have one or the other... You don't actually need both. I'm sure there's someone here who actually went can verify this.

 

The application did ask for a Volks member number if you had one. Not sure if you had to have one.

If I remember correctly....for NYC Dolpa 2....you had to check off at least one out of the four listed....but also any that applied in your case.

3. Bought Olivia through FDQ
4. Bought Olivia exclusive LE outfit through FDQ (These 50 were guaranteed entry.)

Masha was the limited doll....and there were not enough of her.

Just my thought....maybe Volks/FDQ will handle the limited(s) like in LA....by preorder.

I'm really hoping they release BtSSB outfits or a boy doll this year. I was unhappy with last years exclusive and I'd just like to see a boy released ONCE in the US. ^^; We need a SD16 boy. >_>

 

I'd love more BTSSB/Alice clothes too. I was really mad that LA got them and I couldn't get to LA.

I'm thinking the doll won't be a re-release. I don't know why, it's just a feeling. I hope it is someone I don't like so I can maybe go for a one off >.<

I am desperately hoping for more BTSSB outfits.

I have both the LA outfits. I love them, but I was disappointed, because they were re-issues of past outfits only in a different color scheme.

I wish they would come out with two new outfits from the BTSSB line. Maybe something for winter or an outfit with great accessories.

 

I'd love to get a hold of BtSSB MSD clothes. One way I curb spending is not being able to get SD size dolls or clothes.

I am curious what one-offs they come out with.

 

I second the desire for a Jun Tachibana rerelease. I have a Jun, and that is probably kind of greedy. However, not a pureskin UV-cut Jun. I'm sure my Jet would not mind a twin.

I'd love a Tsukasa Konoe, on that note. I'd love more boys to increase the gender equality here.

But hey, I'd also be delighted to see a fresh new sculpt, too!

 

I think I really want to go, but I've not gone before. My one trip to New York, we didn't stay in New York and it cost us 40 each to take the train. So I'm a real newbie.

 

Oh, I wish that we could see the One-Offs right away so I could decide whether to order an FCS or enter for one of them. I'm so afraid that I'll order an FCS and then see a One-Off that I can't live without! Oh, well, as long as it gets a good home, I'll be fine.

It would be so wonderful if they re-released Kurumi with an adorable h.NAOTO or BTSSB outfit! An Angelic Pretty dress would be wonderful too! I hope we get more information soon!

Angelic Pretty would be fabulous, but they might not because of their relationship with BTSSB.
