Dolpa 28 - December 16, 2012

Yes, Volks' Japanese website lists the name and address of all the Volks stores that have a Tenshi no Sumika component in them. Clicking through to an individual store's page will give you a little map and specific directions on how to get there via the JR Trains (which are totally your friend in Japan). In case you won't know which is which from the list, here are the: Akihabara, Harajuku, Shinjuku ALTA, Tachikawa, Lalaport Mall, and Yokohama stores.

I don't know where you're staying for the Dolpa, but.. You should be sure to visit Akihabara, Shinjuku, and Harajuku stores since those are all right on the Yamanote line (the train that circles Tokyo) and are the easiest to get to without going out of your way. The Dolpa is at Tokyo Big Sight which is a little east of Tokyo; after the Dolpa is over on that day, you could hit Lalaport Mall. That store isn't worth going out of your way for since the other Sumikas have all the stuff they have, but it'd be worth going to if you're already in Odaiba for the Dolpa. Yokohama is a bit to the south of Tokyo and Tachikawa is a bit to the west of it. Take a look at the maps and decide what you want to do.

As long as you're in Tokyo doll shopping, you might as well go to the Mandarake stores in Akiba, Shibuya, and Nakano Broadway for tons of used SDs and DDs if there's anyone you want to bring home with you. Those are all close and easy to get to also. Erm.. I'm not sure how long you're in Japan, but don't listen to me for too long or I'll fill up your whole itinerary with places to shop in the Land of Goodies and you won't have any time left over for sightseeing ^_^;;. (don't let that happen!).

 

It used to be that the Sumikas were closed for the weekend of Dolpa because all the staff was working at Dolpa. Is that no longer true?

 

That's a good point, St. James, and I'm honestly not sure of the answer.

On the one hand, staff will be working the Dolpa event and, according to the hall map, there is a temporary Sumika set up right in the Dolpa event space. That suggests they're bringing the Sumika to you rather than you needing to go out to a store.

But on the other hand, I haven't seen any closure announcement signs in the physical stores, and there is a VS/VIP Member Relay Event that seems to be encouraging cardholders to visit the Akiba and Harajuku Sumikas on the day of the Dolpa. That suggests that at least those two stores will be open, if not all of them.

All that is conjecture based on the facts we can observe, though. There has not been an official statement about their operating hours, at least that I know of.

 

Yaaaaay tons of useful info there! Thank you so much!!!! Don't worry I am going to be for a month in Japan so I'll have plenty of time to peek all the sumikas and Mandarakes I can. I already have to go to odaiba another day to visit some museums there, so I could hit the Lalaport Mall that day aswell! This is going to be so awesome!!!

Thank you St James for the info. Just in case I will not visit sumikas in the dollpa weekend, I'll have plenty of time on the other weekends! I've been told that there are still some YOTENSHIS in some sumikas. I so hope this isn't true, LOL I don't know if I will be able to resist!

Onto the Dollpa again I'll try to make all the photos I can although my camera isn't great. But if anyone needs a particular photo (like Mami's profile or something like that) I'll try my best to make it, so feel free to ask!!!

 

I just stumbled upon Kanon earlier this year and then found out that Dolpa 28 would have her! I wish so much to be able to get her! Sometimes I wish there were less presents to buy for the holidays so I might be able to spend some on myself for once. Lol.

Part of me wishes that Chika was being re-released as well. I want Chika and Kanon both, something in me thinks they would make great sisters. Who knows, maybe the next Dolpa will have her!

All the photos VOLKS keeps releasing from the Dolpa look beautiful! The fashions and dolls are utterly breathtaking! I can't wait to see what they think of next!!

 

@sakura_LH: profile pics for the sdgr girls would in fact be very much appreciated! I know volks posted one profile pic of yuu, but she also has a big puffy scarf in the way so you can't see her whole chin. don't worry if you can't get the pics, but if you happen to be able to, i'd love to see them!

Not usually, no. You'll hear a positive confirmation later on if you won, nothing otherwise.

Yep, the One For All dolls are always charity auction one-offs. I think that's also the crazy reverse auction, if I recall correctly. Wherein the opening bid is outrageously high and subsequent bids chip away at that amount - it's a strange balance because no one wants to drop the bid by too much and look like they don't want to give money to charity.

 

Yeah, I did google translate the page *after* my initial "OMG TAN SCARFACE REISNER" freakout, and I sure wish I had the means to both be there and have the highest bid! He is really handsome (even though I question Volks' background choice, which makes him look more orange than he should ) and I would love to have a tan SD17 boy in my household, preferably of the Oath of Silver Coin variety! Maybe they'll do another cruise soon with one available. I'd love to attend that!

Volks is notoriously bad at taking photos of their tan skintones. I bet he's just gorgeous in person!

I just got back from the dollpa yaaaaaay!!! I had an AMAZING time, I did not had any doll but I played a lot and bought some nice outfits, I am more than happy!!!!

No dolls for me but I did get some awesome outfits.

BTW - the reisner I believe started at 170,000 yen and finished at 710,000 yen. He was very handsome!

Dolpa was pretty fun, I ended up spending way more than I intended, first I sent my SD17 guy to Sato for treatment and then bought him a nice suit, tho he won't be here for a month now >_>
I didn't get to see anyone from DoA, guess I'll have to attend a local meetup, there were just so many ppl in the event. And so many gorgeous dolls

 

So as a Christmas gift to my best friend, I entered the lottery for her for Yu She couldn't afford her right now, but wanted her so bad. She asked me if I could, and would pay me back... So I entered the lottery and I really hope I win!! It would be super awesome to be able to help her bring home such a cutie
