I got my Ryoya! I'm really enthused about the SDGr body--I think it's a real step forward for Volks, engineering-wise.

Has anybody heard anything about the optional-outfit lottery? I put in for Ryoya's optional outfit and I'm pretty sure they intended to pick the winners at the end of June...

[EDIT:] Never mind, I dug up the email and they won't be announcing winners until the end of July...

 

I heard from Rochelle of Kerbey Lane and my Ryoya should ship out on July 8th. *squee* I can't wait to get him. I was fine up until now, but now I'm getting antsy with the waiting. XD

 

Does anyone know what the note inside Sora's paperwork package means? It's in Japanese and I'm afraid my Japanese classes were many years ago. I think it has something to do with her bust size (I have no trouble reading katakana XD). Here's a pic I took of the note; if anyone would like to translate it I think all us Sora owners would really appreciate it!

 

I think it's saying there was a mistake in the written specifications for the doll, and it gives the following correct specifications, and sincerely apologises for the error. It is indeed to do with chest size; the error that was published is that SDCute girl's body had a large chest, and the correction is that SDCute girl's body has a medium chest. (I guess that's what M and L are)

 

I got it right! I am happy! All those months of buying Dengeki Hobby have finally paid off.

Those who received Ami, what wig size does she wear? The info on Volks' page is pretty vague... is that rather 8-9 or 9-10 (if you can give the exact head size, that's even better!)?

I would say she fits 8-9 the best. I have a Volks Dollfie Dream wig I tried on her, and it fit well, I think a 9-10 would be to big. I remember measuring her head and it was about 8.75-9 inches (cant remember exactly)

 

Most Volks girls wear 8-9 inches I'm pretty positive that Ami also uses that size

All DD wig should fit all SD16 girls. However, Ami's head is slightly smaller compared to my SD16 Garnet.

 

Has anyone from the international lottery gotten a shipping notice for Ami or Ryoya yet?

Ryouya and Ami from the international AE are scheduled to ship around early August.

 

Thanks Gothland and Jaenina - I'd read that on the website too, but they also said late July for the USA goodies and they're here. I was just hoping to have my Ryoya home in time for a trip to California.

 

We Love Dolls just gave me a call and charged my card so hopefully that means my guy will get shipped out soon~ I forgot to ask for an estimated day of arrival, but I'm not worried.

I had received an email from WLD this past Thursday and they said that they'd ship Ryoya and charge my card on Thursday July 8th. -_- So I was hoping it would happen yesterday, but it didn't. And there still isn't a charge on my card for the balance. I hope nothing got messed up on my order.

Do you happen to remember if WLD uses UPS or Priority Mail for their shipping?

alanna114 - I received a tracking number but it doesn't look like it's been shipped yet. I've been looking up info on Fedex ground and since you live closer to WLDs you might get lucky but they don't deliver on Sundays or Mondays so it might be that you get your guy on Tuesday if he doesn't come by Sunday.

I keep poking the tracking site to see if it does anything~

 

I just realized that I was completely wrong. My boy is coming from Kerbey Lane, not WLDs. So I'm not sure what shipping method they use. But I just emailed them to make sure everything was alright. Especially since I changed my shipping address. I'm just being overly paranoid. Since they gave me a date, I'm getting very, very impatient.

 

Completely understandable~ I'm getting pretty impatient myself. I was kinda hoping my guy would get here by this weekend, but so long as he gets here before the end of next week then I'm good.

volks usually doesn't release how many dolls were made in total. D: i have no idea why. tho there are certain dolls which are maid to be super super limited... they rarely release info about these things.

also they do not put what number they are too >3< so almost no way of knowing how many exactly unless they themselves release that information

 

The best way to know how many might have been made is from attendee reports about the ticket numbers cutoff. But that's still more of an estimate.

 

There is a number etched inside the head of my Ami (it's 77 by the way)... Don't know if that means something?

 

I have a shipping notice for Ami a few days ago, I hope that she arrives to home soon *__*!!

 

I received my Ryoya yesterday. He's as awesome as I hoped. I haven't even uploaded my pics yet, but soon. *squee* I actually did the box opening at our monthly meetup. ^_^

EDIT 2:
Ryoya has a 78 in his head. Most of my other dolls have it penciled in, but his is actually in the resin.

 

That is the sculpt number, not a number that has anything to do with the size of edition. Genji, for example, was a slightly earlier doll than Ami and is number 73.

I'm a total Volks newbie ^^;

 

Naahh, Volks is always cagey about the size of a LE release. Unless it's a one-off, all you ever know is "it's limited" or "it's extremely limited" [HauteDoll editions, Japan-only cruise editions, Tenshi giveaways, etc]. I guess it keeps people from squabbling over numbers. When Iplehouse changed Akando's inaugural release from 50 to 70, there was such an outbirk you'd've thought it was the Nuremburg Trials.

Ryoya looks so beautiful in the natural light in people's homes! : He's seriously a knockout! I am just itching to get my boy home & absorb all of that glory in person. If Rochelle's UPS estimate is on the money, he should be here any minute now... annnnny minute.... *twiddling eagerly*

 

My boy arrived~ Just as I was checking this thread again the FedEx guy pulled up. He actually arrived a few hours ago but I've been messing with my boy since then. I put him on my Okita's old body and my Okita got the new graffiti body and I love it. Ryoya is definitely going to take a bit of tweeking till I figure out what works with him, but he's a really intriguing sculpt. His outfit is really fantastic.

 

Congratulations! I'm glad he finally arrived.

I love the faceup you did. You really brought out the upper part of his eyes which I think really helps bring out the shape. I think he looks great~

 

Yeah he looks way better! The eyebrows on the Volks face up are too low, they look way better.

Gah! Thanks for the kind words Vega and Gus251 (makes grabby hands at Gus). I normally try to paint my dolls after I've finished everyone else's, but this time I couldn't resist. Now I have to get back to work!

 

He looks great, Lady! : So gorgeous and soft. He doesn't look like he's up to quite so little good as the default guys... ^^ I love the default faceup, but I have the feeling I should hide my wallet. What a great smirk!



He is the seventh Tokyo Boy in the house, and the third of these three brothers (with Tsukasa & SchoolHead B):



This Graffiti body is really a remarkable bit of engineering, and it's so slim and beautiful. Hardly weighs anything, compared to those SD13 behemoths. Also very Tantric. Bends everywhere.

He seems so delicate. It's a very small head-- beware wig-splits, this is a really small wig! I would also watch out for staining. This wig has that same slippy wet-treated feel that I've seen in other wigs that have stained.

Decdember

They also hold owners appreciation events. Usually there is one in February and one in October. In addition, there are events in Tenshi No Sato.

There is also the Harajuku Dolls Exhibition in May.
