Dolpa 21 May 5th, 2009

This is exciting Since it is so far off I guess we wont be seeing any of the releases for a while. Is this Dolpa open to everyone? I've been hoping to go to Japan for a Dolpa this year.

 

Unless it's labeled a private party, all Dolpas are open to anyone unless they list specific requirements otherwise, like the US Dolpa.

 

Darn, I hope they'll re-release Williams... Time to start saving money, just in case.

 

I can't wait! This Dolpa business is killing me. I wonder what molds they'll release and what type of outfit as well. New h. Naoto outfits would be good to see.

Worry about what they'll release at Hometown Dolpa Kyoto first.

 

Well, if Volks decides to re-release Williams then, it's fine with me too. (seriously, there are too many dollpa's.. I kind of loose track here)

This may be a noob question (sorry ) but how many times a year are the Dolpas? It seems this next one is taking some people by surprise...so is there a schedule of these events? Are they twice a year, for each season, three times a year, etc.? Thanks for the help!

I don't think this one is taking people by surprise so much as people just aren't ready for another big spending event ... or at least, that's how I feel about it.

There's always two big "main" Dolpas in Tokyo per year, one during Golden Week (the upcoming Dolpa 21) and one in December (Dolpa 20, which just passed, and this year's upcoming Dolpa 22). Then there's usually two "Home Town" Dolpas, which are held in Japanese cities other than Tokyo (Kyoto, Osaka, Nagoya, etc.), usually one in spring and one in late summer/fall -- the first HT Dolpa of 2009 will be Kyoto 6 (AKA the sixth HT Dolpa they've held in Kyoto). Last year's HTDs were held in Kyoto (Kyoto 5 in March) and Osaka (Osaka 5 in August).

And theeen there's the US Dolpas, which also seem to be following a schedule of twice a year, with one usually in summer and one in late fall/winter.

So if you follow the Dolpa "trends" for the past few years ... four in Japan and two in the US makes for an average of six Dolpas every year.

And this isn't even counting all of the Owner's Appreciation Fairs and special events like Tenshi Kourin/Angels Descending -- but then, those are usually Japan-limited, anyway...

maybe they will release new 16 sd girl this year, especially white dreaming one, but I can't even image the cost..so, "SAVE MONEY" for the coming girl....sounds like the only thing I should do this year...or these years T__T~~~

A Boy's Day Dolpa... I'm looking forward to what Volks will decide to release on this kind of occasion, hahaha.

 

"Boys' Day" is pretty outdated. They call it "Children's Day" now.

Getting a Kurumi on Y!J drained all my money too! But I'm so happy to be able to snag one! I'm always torn with these dolpas between hoping they don't have anything I'm interested in and hoping for something good!

 

Congrats! I've seen that you've had a 'WTB Kurumi' in your signature, post pictures when you get her! Urgh...I'm afraid of Dolpas now because they always come out with such great things...I have to force myself to not want to buy!

It would be wonderful to see some SD16s.
I wonder if they'll release any MSDs or SDCs they haven't released any in a while.

 

I think they will re-release the MSDs that were voted the fovorites in the 10th anniversery voting. But I could be wrong.

Here's hoping for another Ran for either DP20 or DPKyoto

Oooh, I hope they release Ran too (as long as I can afford her!)! She's my new SD-sized goal.

 

I think this sounds like a very plausible idea! Now I'm curious to see who the winners were. >3< I have a feeling Hewitt was one of them... It would be awesome if they released a SDC Hewitt. I'd fear that I'd have another one in the house if they did that. Or if they re-release Hewitt at all, actually.

 

Hi all! It's funny I rejoined the DOA forum looking to see when the next dolpa would be. I've been in Japan this past year as a college student on intensive language exchange program and will continue into the end of June or possibly even July. As a long time BJD addict I've set aside money to go to Tenshi-no-Sato and/or a Dolpa. I own many beloved dolls but am planning to make my first Volks purchase this year. No way will I leave Japan without attending this dolpa. This falls on one of my only breaks from school! Anyway, my excitement aside, where are good places to stay for Tokyo dolpas? Can anyone help me out on this. I am committed to attending!

I wish that they would not re-release, but instead do similar dolls to the ones voted favorites. so you can see they are similar but not the same, it would be very nice i think!

 

Awww...crap. This is going to be extra bad for my wallet. My friend and I will be on vacation...in Tokyo...during this... I don't think we'll be able to resist going (and spending all our money while we're there). -_-;;;

 

Wow! So many other people want a Ran re-release! ( I didn't think she was that popular) I'm happy not to be alone. Though I'm resigned to saving pennnies and buying her of Y!J.

The MSDs I'd liketo see get re-released are Toppi- I know they just did her a couple years ago for Huis Ten Bosch but she's still SOOO hard to find and SOOOO expensive when she does pop up. Elsie, who I think is super cute, and SwD Mika. I might go for a Hewitt but he's sort of hit or miss for me- depends heavily on face-up.

If NOTHING else I'm hopeing more Miichan and Taachan kits show up Y!J

I really find it pointless to see these threads where everyone is wishing. I mean come on volks is going to release what they want to release and despite what we ^wish for, It will be whats volks decides.

 

We know that, Midnight, but it's fun to dream about what they might release and share our hopes with others. That's what DoA is all about: sharing our ideas and dreams about the dolls we love! If you dislike hearing discussion and people's wishes about the Dolpa, perhaps you should only read the News thread?

Personally, I can't wait to learn more about this new Dolpa!!! As always, I'm hoping for some cute girl dolls, and more Harajuku Memories characters. I can think of lots of dolls I'd love to be rereleased!!

 

Just to mention, you might also want to try going to the Kyoto Dolpa in March as it should be way closer to you and cheaper to get to.

I personally like to stay in business hotels, I like having my own bathroom. Some of them are around 5000-6000 yen a night. Technically you just need to stay in Tokyo the night before the event.

 

Hey Hitsuzen~ I stayed at the Kyoto Budget Inn when I went to visit Sato/for Kyoto Dolpa. It's got a hostel setup, as well as more delux rooms at a really good rate. The people are nice there too and it's about a five minute walk from Kyoto station so it's really easy to get to Dolpa from there.

 

It's just speculation, it's all in good fun. Nothing to get upset over XD

 

Its fun to see what they release and until we do its fun to guess!

Ran would be wonderful to see again or maybe another Harajuku Memories girl (if only...)
I wonder if there will be another underlying theme to the dolpa...

for a MSD or SDC I hope they come out with a four sister one of another new mold!
