Dolpa 17 Discussion

    1. Pah! I was out yesterday and UPS left one of those annoying slips instead of just dropping the box off inside our porch.
      Our regular guy must be on vacation because he knows we have no problem with him signing for stuff as long as he leaves it inside.
      So now I've got to spend the entire day waiting for this guy to come instead of going out and doing what I need to do. :sigh
       
    2. You can try a rubbing a little bar soap on the zipper (be very careful not to get it on the fabric) and working the zipper up and down a bit before putting it on the doll. This may loosen it up and get it working.

       
    3. And THIS is why I have the Cell phone numbers for both my Home and Work UPS drivers.... I've tracked them down on MANY an occasion... ;)

    5. My Shinn arrived yesterday! He is such a cutie! :) And my Lin should be arriving some time next week -- I can't wait! They are my first Yo-SDs and so far I am delighted. :)

      I have an unrelated Dolpa 17 clothing question though. Has anyone gotten the Charlotte Blackberry outfit? I got the Charlotte Raspberry outfit, and I think that the colors are much prettier in person than I expected them to be. So I was wondering what color the Blackberry outfit really is? It just looks black and gray in the photos. Thanks!

    9. I'm totally annoyed with Volks right now because they sent me the wrong h.naoto pants. All that waiting and I don't even get the item I won in the lottery or any response from them about fixing the matter. So annoyed. I realize it's only been two days since I contacted them, but still, irritated.
       
    10. Apparently what happened is that they switched the photos of the Inside Patchwork and the Lucien damage jeans. They're having me send mine back (which is actually pretty depressing, because they sent the pair I really wanted and I'm rather attached) and they'll send me the ones pictured instead. You can try calling them at the store- apparently they're supposed to be sending emails out to everyone about the mixup so that they can switch them out.

      What I find very frustrating is that they didn't catch the mistake sooner, even after the Japan release and two months between the US lottery and the time they shipped out. I'd have been much happier if they'd contacted me before even charging my card and said "hey, there was a mistake, would you like the item pictured or the pair that you *really* won?"
       
    11. Well, he stands fine when he is naked but he falls to the front when he has the shoes on. The shoes are huge and heavy.

    14. I actually took my friend's Reisner to the doll doctor at the NY dolpa about pretty much the same problem and he was pretty emphatic that he is best left a little loose because it allows for all of his joints to move properly and achieve the natural poses that the body is capable of.

      What really helped is discovering that the lower joint on his body has 3 different notches that you can hook his torso in which makes standing him incredibly easy once you know they're there, they let you balance him properly and are a really great little innovation.

    16. So that means that the pair I want is the Lucien Damage pair (the paler pair). I ended up with the patchwork ones which are too dark and I don't really care for em. But my lottery entry says Patchwork. X_X I'm amazed they didn't catch this earlier as well. I'm also annoyed that I'm going to have to pay to ship them back.
       
    17. O.o wait, so basically everyone entered for pictured pair where as the names were reversed between inner patchwork and lucien damage? I don't see what the problem is if people entered based on the picture, not the name.
       
    18. Wow. The dolly doctor visits are great for learning things. It's great to hear small new innovations in their dolly design.

      I went to the dolly doctor and found out how to fix flying headcaps and loose option ears.
       
    19. Got an email today saying my Shinn has shipped! This boy was having his sanding and coating done (although not sueding) so the ones getting "extras" are on the move too.
       
    20. So in order to have them replaced we have to contact Volks? I really wanted the Lucien Damage pair.
       
    21. Well, I talked to someone at Volks on Wed. and they said that the pictures of the two pair of jeans were mixed up and that they would be emailing the people who won/bought those jeans. She was very nice, but I haven't heard anything since. Volks is such a great company, I'm sure they will make it right. Since we entered/purchased based on the picture, and we received the winning pair from another picture, it seems logical to just switch those orders out. Might take a bit of time though as I guess Volks has to get them back first? I don't know if they can just make more of them as they were a limited item...but they know who the orders went to.
       
    22. Yes. I won the darker pair, which were listed as "Lucien Damage" but was sent the paler pair- the *real* Lucien Damage. But they'll be giving me the darker pair, since that's what was pictured. You probably won't have to pay to have them shipped back. They're going to refund me- I just had to send them an email with the tracking number and the cost.

    24. No problem! I've spoken to them again and as Kimber mentioned, Volks said to email with the tracking number when you send them back and they will refund the cost. I'm sending mine out tomorrow...gotta have those Lucian Damage jeans!:)
       
    25. Yay, Congratulations again to everyone who's already recieved thier Dolpa 17 babies:chibi... I just recieved my Reisner, and though I only really had time to give him a quick look over, he seems GORGEOUS:love Love Love Love this boy, and that Body:aheartbea I can't wait to get home from work today, and play some more with that Gorgeous Hunk of Resin!!!! Ohhhh I can't wait to play with my Baby:fangirl:

    26. I wonder if anyone could please give me advise about my Reisner?

      He was put on Manifest Pickup on 13 July with a tracking number. Scheduled delivery was yesterday, but of course...no doll, as he doesn't seem to have left wherever he is yet.

      I feel a bit iffy about sending an email to Volks about it, as I just sent them a polite letter about a clothing item I got that seems defective. I don't want to send another complaint when actually love them so much I only buy from Volks...

      So...any suggestions? Is this languishing in the Manifest Pickup state normal? Shinn came with no problems at all.

      (a little later)....I just rang the UPS toll free number (Thanks again Anthony!) but the lovely robot lady who took my tracking number said that UPS does not have the package yet and I should contact the sender...

      So I suppose I must gird my loins and ask Volks....
       
    27. The same thing happened with the Amelia I won from the last lottery.
      I did write Volks, and while there was a delay, eventually it was sorted out and she arrived safely.

    29. Darn I have to send back my jeans I just got the e-mail... what a drag! Will Volks reimburse us for the shipping? Also since the jeans are over 60$ when they will be sent back to me Custom will charge me AGAIN for taxes on them..I already paid for the taxes on the wrong jeans! Those jeans are getting the be quite expensive.

      I know it's an error, but does anyone has any idea what I could tell Volks to write on the package so I don't get charge twice for customs on the item i already paid customs on?
       
    30. Woot ^_^ suiseiseki was RESCUED (yes rescued! not brought home or delivered, but RESCUED!) from the ups store at about 8pm last night *gush*. SUCH A CUTIE. And the SD10 body is pretty cool :3... that face up needs changing asap though ^^"!

    33. I can't remember what jeans I ordered. I got the email to exchange the ones I recieved but I'm not sure if they're the ones I wanted or not. ^^; Of course, I don't have the original emails from when I ordered anymore.

    36. I did some digging, on the website they had Patchwork Denim as these. The jeans you pictured were listed as Lucian Denim.
      They mixed up the names on the website so everyone that ordered the light blure jeans they'd listed as Patchwork were sent the dark blue jeans they'd listed as Lucian.
      Does that make sense?

      Maybe if you make note on the customs form that the jeans are being returned for wrong item and ask Volks to write something like replacement for wrong item sent then perhaps customs won't be as mean.

    41. Yep the katakana on the bags are all right. Whoever was in charge of that section of VolksUSA messed up and switched the names of those two pairs. :doh
       
    42. Ok, so I got my correct pair of jeans in the mail today. I was very happy that they sent me a money order and included a very nice card with a hand written apology and a pretty postcard. Then I looked at the jeans... the bag had obviously been opened because there was hair all in the adhesive. The HN+DIE paper tag was missing and the "tears" in the back of the pants where obviously made much much bigger and there were two big strips of fabric hanging off where they shouldn't have. I have a feeling that I got a pair that somebody sent back after playing with them heavily. That kind of annoys me. I paid that much for NEW designer pants and I get already worn pants and no Designer Tag? Bollucks. On the plus side they actually fit SD17 boys pretty well. Wasn't expecting the day glow green top-stitching though. X_X
       
    43. I rang up Volks last week about Reisner. He hasn't been sent yet. In fact, they seemed to be saying that they don't have him yet.

      Is anyone else still waiting for Reisner? Did anyone else get the full sato service with sanding, coating and sueding?
       
    44. Sorry to hear that the jeans were well used, I got a pair of the same jeans and the strips in the back are free hanging as well. We never saw promotional pics of the backs of the jeans.
       
    45. No, the strips really *are* that big. I think it varies from pair to pair, but they're supposed to be like that.
       
    46. Maybe you should take a picture of the jeans and people can let you know if they look correct.
       
    47. I haven't gotten my replacement jeans yet.
      I feel bad because when I sent them back I couldn't find the original bag. I could find the carboard hn + DIE tag, but not the bag so I had to send them off in a ziplock. >_<;
      Whoever gets the jeans in a ziplock, I'm sorry!

    49. I received my replacement jeans and the strips are hanging off the back, so I think that they are made that way. s2kitty sorry to hear that your jeans were played with, I hope that they are still OK for you, I think that they are pretty cool!
       
    50. I have sent back my jeans 3 weeks ago... I had to call Volks on Thursday to know if they had received my jeans back or not. I was afraid they might have gotten lost? They told me we'll send you your jeans tomorrow. I was a bit surprised, were they waiting for me to call them? But they did send the jeans on Friday.

      I don't know in what states my jeanes will be in. I took them out of bag to check them and wash them (delicatly) I hadn't had time to put them on any of my dolls yet and everything was in the package, tags, silicone bag etc...

      Kinda getting nervous the jeans coming back are okay or not ;_;
       
    51. I just got my replacement jeans. it's got tears in the back... is that normal?the tears in front have a piece of fabric to hold it but not n the back and they have big holes...
      I aso got the card and my payment back(I would have settled for a credit at the onlione store). as well as a nice postcard and a hand written card
       
    52. The holes are normal, mine have them too. Be careful when putting them on because my boy's foot tried to go through a few of them. ^^;

    54. I'm rather upset :( My Yo-SD hands finally came today (little fist ones) and the right hand's wire loop was completely clogged with resin. I tried to carefully dig it out with a metal utensil, but when I finally got through the resin the utensil went through her wrist!! /cry So now I can put it on my doll but there's a small hole near the edge.

      The resin is so thin right there (thinner than the resin I was trying to dig through I may add)...

      My box was severely mangled as well. This is the second deliver I've gotten from Volks USA where the box is crushed. UPS usually delivers my packages in perfect condition. What is going on???
       
    55. The shipping system has been pretty stressed with holiday mail I think. Also it'd be UPS's fault the package was crushed, they are fine when they leave Volks so its probably not their fault.

      Also I think you posted this to the wrong thread? Dolpa 17 happened in 2007 (over a year and a half ago)..that'd be a long time to wait for hands

    58. lol I have no idea which one that was...did you try posting in the customization area? Someone might be able to help you fix the hand.
      My fist hands had resin filling the loops too. I used the s hook to pop it out.
       
    59. It was an amazingly thick bunch of resin... much thicker than the ledge that comprises her wrist. Usually you find a thin sheet covering the wire/hole, but this was something else. But yeah - I was just looking at the customization area, and since it is such a small hole, and the resin is actually pretty soft, it looks like I might be able to boil the hand for 1-4 minutes and maybe something good might happen. We'll see~
