YAHOOO! So I took some cold medicine and passed out at 6pm O.o
I just checked my email and I won 3 out of the 4 pairs of pants O.O

I got the "Skull & Type print" pants for Umeko,
and the "Inside patchwork" pants for Chris!
Maybe Michael will want the "Lucien Damage" ones? I entered for 4 because if I didnt get the 2 I wanted maybe I could trade.... but I got them O.o

ALSO! My cold poofed! I slept for like 16 hours O.o

 

Well here's my update, 10 minutes on the phone with my bank and everything is taken care of. My money's back, the overdraft charges were waived after I explained what happened, and actually the record of the overdraft itself had been taken out of their system so apparently there's no proof that it even happened anymore.

Definately check with the bank if you went the debit card route.

I didn't get the inside patchwork jeans that I wanted (anybody want to part trade for the honey+Jelly outfit? ^_^), but I got the other two pairs I wanted, so...yay!

The SD16 girl outfit - although I've found that it fits on quite a few other dolls as well.

 

Oh man I won those jeans, but they weren't my first choice. I love love that SD16 girl outfit though!

I won Reisner, but I didn't get the inside patchwork jeans that I wanted. I hope to try for them in the AE if I dont have work that day or Y!J.

Volks will charge the card that you used to join the lottery, so it should show up around the 24th of May

 

I haven't gotten anything, but I figured that just meant I lost XP as the last time I won I received something promptly

 

Poo, I lost my bid in the lottery. Bummer! So now begins the wait for the AE... but how exactly does -that- work? Is it also done on a lottery system or is it first click first serve?? I've never done this before so I'm totally in the dark. If someone would be kind enough to point in the direction of some info, I'd be most grateful!

 

Alas... >_____>; The AE is the first click first serve system. I wish you the best of luck when you go for it. @__@; Be sure to try typing your information fast enough. I've heard that items sometimes fall out of your cart.

 

You can download something called Roboform where a click of a button will fill out all your preset information! This way, you might be able to check out faster and not lose your items.

I still haven't received any emails from volks yet..and the order status is still blank as well..is this normal?

 

I'd be sure to check your spam folder, Kumiya. And my order says canceled at the top. If yours doesn't say canceled, that's good - but Anthony is right - I would call them or email them.

What time does the AE begin? I see on the Volks website that it's the 26th through the 27th, but can't seem to find an exact time for the web event. Anyone know? Or at least have some info based on past AfterEvents?

That informational thread is very helpful overall, and I have read it before. Perhaps I didn't word my question correctly, though. I was hoping someone with prior AE experience (I've never attempted to buy anything at one before) could clue me in as to what time they normally start, or maybe at least an estimation of when Volks will let us know (if they let us know - as I said, I've never done this before) the exact time it starts. It is only 10 days away now, and that seems very close to me.

From memory, AEs are usually at around 10am/11am Japan time. This tends to be fairly consistent even if they change other stuff like how they do it. Sometimes they do the dolls earlier and the clothes later, sometimes vice versa. But take that as your rough estimate for now. Unfortunately, you have to work that out in your own timezone. (I'm lucky, I'm only an hour different from Japan time.)
I will however warn you that you can expect to be at it for hours. And hours. Literally. The server goes BOOOOOOM. I seem to recall people still trying to put dolls in their carts 4-5 hours later at Dolpa 16.

 

OMG the AE was so stressful and a complete disaster for me last time. I have a fast connection, but I kept getting thrown out and when I finally got in everything sold out by the time I got items in my shopping cart. X_X

 

Do you think they will have the Limited Outfits at the AE? I want to get Shinn's outfit, and that's it. Anyone?

Yeah, the AE will have all of the Dolpa outfits and items as well as the dolls. It's only the VolksUSA lottery that is limited in what it gets. (VolksUSA will get the rest of the clothing items, but not for awhile yet!)

Good luck. At least it's a Friday night so even if you have to stay up till 5am, you don't have work in the morning? (Presumably!)

While I want to get some of the outfits from DP17, I'm reminded again that I can sew and should just not bother and come up with my own ideas. Bah. Plus, saving for NY!

 

I'm in the same boat. I usually make fantasy outfits but I have a weakness for Volks Yo-outfits. They put so much little details on it plus I'm such a softie when it comes to plaid outfits

Everytime I have entered an AE, or Lottery with Volks, I have included my Volks Member number in the form, or asked them to credit the number when I buy stuff over the USA site. I wonder if people who give their numbers get any sort of advantage in the Lotteries? How many of you also give your Volks # when you order or enter Lotteries? I can't start a poll on the thread, so we just have to reply I guess.

Nytshaed: I've never used my member number. And've had pretty good luck with the lotteries.
I think I read they have all our numbers on file and keep track of what we buy that way.

 

Actually, I asked Amy (one of the employees at the store) when we were on vacation together and she said the numbers are used mostly for event registration (like events at the mansion in LA, and probably for some stuff at dollpas). I ordered some stuff from the website yesterday and wasn't asked for my number.

 

I gave my Volks USA membership number when I ordered. I`m sure it isn`t relevent but I added it just in case. I put it in the comment box.

 

I don't recall seeing a place on the form for the number on the card, but in the excitement I may have missed it.

I keep a credit card just for online Volks lotteries so I know it is full of credit and my other credit card (for daily purposes) won't be tied up.

I do shop Volks LA when I need eyes or a wig now and again to show customer loyalty. I don't know if that is a factor, or if it is all just pulled from a hat, so to speak.

I have an odd question but does anyone know how tall the Rozen Maiden girls are suppose to be? Are they just regular sized like the usual Volks SD10 girls?

 

The Rozen Maiden girls have totally standard SD10 girl bodies, arms, and legs, so yeah, they are the same height as all SD10 girls.

 

Do you have a link to the English Site for the After Event? I need to get all in position for snagging YO outfits....

Oh, I hope they are going to split up the dolls and outfits and put them for sale at separate times! Their poor server can't even handle everyone trying for JUST the dolls at once, I really hope they don't put everything up for sale at once.

I am so, so tempted to try for Lin, she is simply adorable. But . . . I really should save my money for the Unoa preorder next month! I think I'll try for that pair of LPC brown MSD outfits though. I haven't ever bought clothes at an AE, so I'm sure it'll be an "adventure" . . .

 

The limited clothes are probably going to be at the same time as the dolls. I might try for Lin too since I lost her in the lottery. boo hoo.

 

Actually owning both of the new Yo outfits I would highly highly recommend them. They're so cute. *___*

I'm probably going to be trying for an outfit or two myself. I joined the Sumika line at 6:45 am and the outfit I most wanted other than the Yo sets was already sold out by the time I got in. ~.~

 

Aww, I'd try for the Yo outfits too if I was going to be home. I'll have to try and hit the Volks store when they come in if I decide I do want one or both of them.

It's the price in yen.

They charge EMS shipping from Japan to wherever you are located and might charge an additional transaction fee, I can't remember. I do know it worked out to be about $10 cheaper to get my two Yo chibi outfits last time from the AE and I got them faster. ^^

 

Like rkold said, it's in yen. Even with the EMS shipping, it works out to roughly the same prices for the clothes (I got the Quiet Woods outfit at the last AE). For dolls, it's invariably cheaper to get them from the AE--sometimes a LOT cheaper.

Reisner, for example, was $1408 from VolksUSA.
From Volks Japan, he'll be 134,400 + 7500 in shipping = 141,900. In USD, that's about $1,173 right now. (The yen has fallen against the dollar recently.)

So, if you won this beauty in the AE, he'd cost you over $200 less than buying him in the US, even including the $70 of shipping.

So now you probably want to know why we *all* don't try for dolls in the AE, right? Heh... Different people have different reasons, but the main ones are simple: it's HARD to get one (very slim chances); it's the last chance to buy a doll directly from Volks; buying a doll from VolksUSA supports the LA Sumika, and VolksUSA is usually much, much cheaper than aftermarket prices.
