I'm not keen on gore (OK then I feel faint!) but each to their own - certainly inspiring creative ways to display these dolls - I love what you've done with them Sadomina! just incase anyone's interested - Alices Collection has some of these in stock now!
Well my Moon arrived but I'm not very excited. The blushing isn't as dark as the company photos and looks...well pinkish and bright red. I was hoping for a darker look. The eye had fallen out which is easily fixed but the spine was broken in too parts. I wasn't impressed with the wrapping around that (a paper towel?). I've sent a picture to DDE to see what can be done. Glad I didn't order any of the new dolls. I'm done after this. @Sadomina what did you do about the broken spine?
@dollhausen ... Firstly Thankyou for sharing your new doll so quickly. I am terribly disappointed to see this breakage occurring for the 2nd time now!!! And really believed the delay in shippong would be due to improving packaging etc. The blush is absolutely nothing like the company shots, and I would feel very annoyed and quite let down by DollZone at this point, but I am quite sure you will sort things out. However during this order wait time, I have come to learn that DollZone do not answer my Emails, and if they do the reply tells me they are on holiday in April 2015 !!!!!! I am very concerned about both my DZ orders now, and understand your action of 'Being Done' with them.
@dollhausen Oh this is so sad to see her broken again!! Dollzone will replace this part - maybe it might take a little longer because it is blushed, but I'm sure they will send you a new part. As for mine, I told my dealer about the broken spine and the immediately sent me a replacement part (wich arrived on Friday). The blushing seems really pink... not what I had expected as they had shown in their promotion pictures. Maybe, if you don't like it this way, you could add more blushing to darken and spoil the pink colour (maybe some blue/grey like they used for the faceup). Spine: If you use some layers of (very much)watered acrylic paint (or even water colour) it will give the blushing on the spine more depth (the colour pigments will stay in the grooves of the spine this way.
@Sadomina That's a good idea, to try and blush over it. I've never done any of my own paint but maybe now is the time to experiment. Thanks for the advice. Maybe this will start a whole new path for me. @HoneyRyder After what happened with Anson I thought Dollzone would be more careful by now. But at least they're trying and it sounds like they stick by their customers and replace the broken parts so that's good.
I'm so excited you guys -- I finally sold a body I'd been holding onto for ages, so I splurged and bought a Moon in stock at DDE! This is the first doll I don't have to wait months for... SO weird. I am totally not a gore person -- at first I thought I was just going to keep the head and try to sell the weird little body -- but the body has grown on me. Now I need to figure out what she is. Maybe some kind of wraith. Or something that requires belief/faith to exist, but the belief is fading. She's going to provide a unique challenge for photography, being unable to sit or stand...
Congrats on your girl...I ordered mine way back when released, and still awaiting!!! Now I am seeing that dealers have stock dolls which are arriving before my ordered doll, I am re-evaluating my choices of with whom I place an order... Yes, the photography will be interesting. I would love to learn more on photography techniques, I love looking at other peoples slick looking shots. Hope you share yours
@HoneyRyder Sorry you're still waiting. I now have to go through an entirely new waiting process to get the replacement part. It's a real bummer to have the doll here but not be able to do anything with her. I'm also not digging the new DZ white, it's very creamy. I really like the old white. Today I was playing with my DZ 65cm body and exchanging heads and it's still a very paper white. I love it. But can't see myself buying another doll from them with that resin. @pinkandyellow I'm sending good vibes your way for a doll with no issues!
Still trying to figure out her character -- thought I'd ask you guys for input. Concept is that she is a fae personification of something that is fading, and thus she, too, is fading. I have some good potential ideas (like aforementioned belief/faith), but I want your thoughts.
Oh my gosh I'm so glad to have found a thread for these two dolls!! I bought both of them, The Star and The Moon. I got my Star first, and her spine was also broken... I was sad, but after waiting 7 months I decided I could just buy some fimo clay and fix her myself. Her sister, Moon, came about two weeks later. She's perfect and there was no damage... which surprised me because her box was pretty banged up. o.O; I didn't get them with faceups/body blushing, I wanted to do that myself. I bought them on impulse, as I loved how they looked... now begins the hard part of finding names, styles, and their stories. I think I have one in mind but I need to buy some more stuff. I'm probably going to buy a Doll Chateau body, for both of them (eventually). The neck size of the K-body-11 should fit the head socket decently well. I took some photos with my iPhone.. they're not great but I like them. And if Photobucket would freaking cooperate I would post them here! D<
@Annabel.Nine ... That is sad news about the broken spine!!! I ordered in May from Angelesque, and am still awaiting my blank doll...apparently DZ did not send enough dolls to her to fill the order, grrrrr Regards the fix with fimo... Have you used fimo like this with resin before? Because from what I have read here on DoA, Fimo is something which requires baking to harden, and you couldn't bake resin like that. The fimo doesn't air dry...I would ask around first before adding fimo to your doll. The thing which I have heard used for fixing the spine was Super Glue. Again, I am no expert.
@HoneyRyder The fimo I got air dries, so I'm not concerned about baking it! I would super-glue the spine, but it broke in two parts and the larger part is missing.. I have to sculpt this part and then attach the smaller, end piece to it. Sounds like a lot of work...
Oh My, broken in two places that is really sad to hear. Sadomina has done a great fix on her broken spine with super glue, but it was a small clean break. But a piece missing!!!??? I understand the long wait , as I am still waiting, DollZone seem to be doing a pretty good job at sending out the replacements. I would still mail them to arrange a replacement, and while you are waiting do the sculpt fix.
@HoneyRyder I ordered through Alice's Collections, and I told them about it and they are discounting me on a future order. I don't really want the hassle of getting a replacement part just for a small part of the spine. My Moon arrived in perfect shape, so I am pleased.
@Annabel.Nine...that sounds great, I have just placed my first order with Alice's Colection, so it's great to hear that they work well with problems, I would do the same as you too... Nice One
I got my DZ Tarot Moon yesterday. I love her she's such a neat doll. I would like to know the black pillow that comes with her. Does anyone know if it will stain the doll? Also the flowers do you think they will stain her?
@animegirl ... I got my Moon delivered yesterday to from,Angelesque!!! I thought I was the last person to receive this doll, he he... As for the black sleep bag, with dark colours there will always be a chance of dye transferring. I always make sure to wash all black clothes and materials 2 or 3 times before using them with my dolls. Plus make sure they are treated with a sealer MSC or similar too...I suppose washing the bag is best. Personally I would not use it next to the doll for long periods. As for the red flowers!!! Yeah, several people have reported dye transference from these flowers to the dolls. Especially in damp atmospheres. Some people say that magic eraser will remove the stain, but the experiment I saw with that was wetting the flowers and rubbing on doll, then washing immediately with the eraser!!! I have not seen what might happen if dye transfer is on doll for some time before rubbing off?, or if dye is left to dry and set on doll ? Personally I have dumped the red long stem things in the bin...too messy!!!! And I have sprayed the petals with MSC type thing a few times...I plan on using for odd photo shoot, but not leaving, doll on them. Sorry for way too long post... What do you think of your girl? Which colour did you order???
My Star arrived some weeks ago, never posted her here... well. I'm sorry for all the people who got a broken spine.
Omg she looks so gorgeous!! I preferred this one over The Moon and I love to finally see a nice owner pic
@HoneyRyder Congrats! Finally! Though of course for those of us with the missing spine the wait for replacement parts drags on and on....It's almost two months and nothing. Really done with Dollzone after this....also one of the eyes was rattling around in the head because they used such a tiny amount of the eye putty stuff. And this looks great: I guess the wig is mandatory with that half blush job.
@dollhausen ... Still awaiting the replacement part!!! what piece are they sending you? And will it be fully blushed? This is the first DollZone order I have made, I then went and ordered a Death from them!!! Part of me really regrets doing that but it was way back before the crazy long wait, broken dolls, replacement parts!!! Also, a little worried about the transit of that doll too, with its fused ankle joints!!! I have already decided that Death will be my last dealings with DollZone. I am interested to know about their blushing, as I have ordered death with blushing. Do they air brush the face up and body blush?
@HoneyRyder If you look at post #65 in this thread you can see the blushing they did on my doll. Which I thought was utter crap. They'll have to send me the entire torso as it's one piece. The spine broke in two spots. I'm super disappointed in DZ over this. As soon as I get the torso piece I'm sending it out to be re-painted and told them they could send me a blank if they wanted. The doll is super cool but the lack of protective packaging for the spine and the horrible blushing means I'll never buy another DZ doll. I almost ordered Death but the lack of joints seemed dumb so I decided against it. Now I'm glad I did. Also the new white skin is too yellow so they're piling on the epic failures.
@dolhausen...I saw the pics of yours, but as I am a noob I have not seen enough dolls first hand to know if something is all airbrushed or done with pastels??? That's why I asked about the paint. As for the ankle joints. I wasn't too worried as I planned on this doll being more for show than playing around with. But now after the packaging nightmare, I am concerned I will get a doll with broken ankles ... I was a real fan of the paper white resin, and I too am pretty disappointed in the new white. I had hoped to be able to put the Moon head on my Irma body (thought I would get away with it) there is little chance of that. I wish I could have still requested the old white for this order, heh... I am finding it pretty difficult to take to this doll I hope that my disappointment in DollZone eases. I also hope that you hear some positive news soon.
@HoneyRyder Yeah, I don't know know what to tell you about the paint. I have no idea how it was done. Never even thought about that aspect. I can say it's pretty lame, not like the paint in the promo photos. If you want I could take some close-up pics if that would help.
hi everyone I orderd a star from dollzone, but wanted to sell the torso. now her normal body is here and I want to show you some pics of my first hybrid. I have to say, the blushing of the torso was so pink and not like on the pics on the website. also my star had a moon instead of a star on her chest. for me it wasn't too bad because I don't need the body, but this was no good job from dollzone. but I'm happy with how she looks now so far and I'm happy that I bought her the normal body. she is on a doll chateau kid body. she needs some ghostly clothes, but I really love her naked. here ist my beautiful ghost elf girl Aura and here another pic showing a bit more of her body http://img5.fotos-hochladen.net/uploads/7fotorlpj4vw3one.jpg
I would be interested to see some close up shots of your girl. It will help me to see how different it is to promo pics. I am interested to see how they did inside the rib cage and spine area. Also to see hoe they tackled the embossed gore areas. Thankyou DollHausen
@HoneyRyder There's one. When you reply I'll post the other one so I don't get in trouble for posting two photos at once.
@dollhausen , thanks for the pic, and would love to see more of your close up shots. Also can I ask about the gold Moon motif? Is this just painted on? Or is yours carved/etched underneath the paint? I am so unhappy with the new white resin, I was a previous paper white lover, as a noob did not fully understand how different the new white would be. This new white is buttermilk coloured, in my mind it is the colour that a white doll would be once badly yellowed!!! I wish I had ordered in a different colour!!! I put her head on my DC Irma body, it looks great apart from the Irma is the old beautiful paper white. Someone remarked that the old white could be requested at the time of order??? This was not available when I ordered. I wonder if anyone did manage to get this sculpt in the old wonderful white..??
I never heard that you could get the old white or I would have done so. I HATE the new white. It's frickin' yellow! Offer yellow then keep the old white. I need to give DDE a nudge to find out what's going on with the body. I have two DZ's and four DC's in the old white and it was my favorite. I'll post pics when I get home...
As you can see the moon is painted. The entire paint job is pretty...rudimentary on these dolls. Once I get the replacement part I'm going to send mine out to be repainted.
After two months my replacement torso has shipped! Then after verifying that it isn't damaged I'll ship it out to be painted.
wow, I feel like throwing a party when I heard your news Fingers crossed, that it arrives in good time without hitch, and you can send it out for painting!!!! Meanwhile, I have found an artist who I want to work with, who has done some preliminary sketches, and will be packing my MooN up too...
I didn't even realize, the spine is not part of the torso. It's just a spine strung to the torso. So here it is, unbroken:
Oh my gosh I just went and grabbed my doll and only noticed now that yes, the spine is indeed strung to the torso... I feel derpish.
@Annabel.Nine Imagine waiting two months thinking you were getting a whole torso only to open that up and find....a thin spine. And thinking, "WTF?" Then seeing the end and suddenly the light bulb went on: So yeah, yer not alone...
Well @dollhausen, I am really pleased you have now received the replacement. I must admit your post did make me actually chuckle...I too thought it was attached!!!! Omg...WTF indeed, heh
I see some time's passed since the majority of the orders got home and I'm wondering if after that period of actually having the doll - are you guys satisfied with them? Doesn't it bother you that they cannot stand on their own due to the lack of legs? Did you also get the promised box and fake flowers? If so, do you mind telling me if the box&flowers part looks the same as it was presented on the website? I'm considering getting a Moon either second hand or messaging Dollzone directly, but I want to know if it's really worth the money. Thanks in advance!
Kind of weird question, but does anyone here also own a Doll Chateau kid boy body? I'm debating hunting down some Star arms and hands for my DC boy (loooooving her delicate knuckle definition!), but I was wondering if the shoulder joint is going to be close enough to the same size on both Star and the DC kid boy body for a hybrid to be plausible...
my goodness this sculpt. A bunch of fun little ideas for photoshoots popped into my head immediately. If I wasn't already taken with a few other sculpts I need to pay off I'd throw myself at this.
Can anyone say what eye size Moon wears? I'm lookin to hunt one of these beauties down and figured I should start prepping her accessories
@Anneke I don’t have a Moon...I have her sister sculpt, the Star, whose eyes are closed. But I was able to find the original Dollzone ad for Moon, and that states that her fullset originally came with 12mm eyes. Looking at my Star that seems to be correct for the eye shape. I hope this helps.
