DollZone Moment and Anson discussion part 1

Oct 13, 2011

1. Hana Shonen is all ready to go out on the town! And with new eyes!

Annarchy - LOVE those tattoos! Nice job! On everything!

Dalkey looks like the perfect shade for old parchment. Nice!

I still haven't gotten a faceup on my poor Ignis, but I did haul him out for a quick photo in our new chiminea. :XD:

2. Yay for having a face. ^__^
Hehe, he looks quite at home in the chiminea.

3. Thanks! He's so close to "done" now!
I finally got my Anson all disassembled and sprayed yesterday so I can work on her this winter. Hopefully. And hopefully it won't take me as long to do her as it did for me to do him!

4. How brave to take your doll apart. I did just the head and manicure on humans arms and pedicure on feet plus body blushing but there was no taking the doll apart, when I do finally paint the petal arms that will be a nightmare for me to string them on. I am so afraid of breaking her. The first time I had to take a head off I was terrified. Now it isn't so bad but the first head was a Souldoll head where the body was strung so tight. I had my friend do it for me and she even had to have her husband help her.

aeranath your doll is fantastic. I can see you put a lot of work into him. A lot of spray too I imagine.

5. Taking your doll apart (and putting it back together!) is just like taking the head off: easy once you do it a few times. It just takes a little getting used to.
And yes, a TON of spray. :sweat

6. Beautiful Pictures Everyone, Can't Wait To See More

7. My Anson, Bohemia Rose, just got a new outfit. I took part in a steampunk themed sewing project and as I worked on designing her costume, I discovered that she actually has a vocation...she's a botanist!:) She has a multiple eyeglass apparatus, an adjustable magnifier, a small field journal with a lock and key, and a jar of seeds for her forays into the field for specimen collecting. And of course her skirt can be hitched up by leather straps on her utility belt.;)

8. I love coming in here to look at them~ Those two are especially lovely! I love the designs on their petals!

9. Haven't Been Here In A While. Hows Everyone's Flowers?

Bad News, Hana Shonen's Head Cap Fell & The Top Pedal Broke. I Super Glued It But It Broke My Heart.

10. Awww...I feel your pain, gaiboiozz.:atremblin My Bohemia Rose was one of the first ones ever shipped and she arrived to me with two broken petal tips from the company. Like you, I just super glued them back on. They've always seemed to be in keeping with her very complex character though, so I haven't minded it in the long run. It's like those tiny imperfections just became a part of who she is.

11. Oof, it's always terrifying to think of a doll breaking. I'm glad you could fix him!

12. Gailboiozz - that is heartbreaking. I would have maybe had tears but bad words for sure. They are such delicate dolls. I was so afraid of that happening. Glad my doll is finally painted and just sitting there.

Poetic Soul you must have been devastated. Why didn't you ask for a new head? My head was so well packed. Two boxes for the head and another for the body. They then forgot the petal arms and give me real arms but remembered the extra hands I ordered to go with the petal arms I never got when she was first shipped. They sent them after. Now I have real arms, petal arms and two pairs of hands. I really like the real arms so haven't painted the petal arms. I really should do that but it will be difficult because I mixed two kinds of paints (that glittery stuff in the little jars) and now I can't remember really how I got the colour. These dolls are much easier to pose with the real arms. I have the little flower doll and she is quite difficult with those arms and heavy head.

I am sure this dolls were hard to make and ship so that is why they quit making them but they are so gorgeous. I even liked mine unpainted and I never feel that way. The resin was so smooth and colour was gorgeous. I wonder where those arms are? Someplace safe! Too safe, I can't remember where!

13. Man, that's always something that can (and does) happen! Sorry it happened to you guys! With the ton of delicate parts these flowers have, I figure it's just a matter of time for mine. :sweat
You would have to point out the "scars" on Bohemia Rose though. They don't show at all!

14. That's because I did artwork right over the top of Bohemia Rose's "scars". My girl is no delicate hot-house flower...she has a rich full life of being handled, being a clothes model, being posed, interacting within her display space and everything else you can possibly imagine. While she came with the two broken petal tips, I did break another one when I dropped her head cap onto a hard floor from a 4 foot height (yikes!) But overall, I've found her to be surprisingly sturdy despite her delicate looks. Any further damages that might occur throughout the coming years will be dealt with in the same fashion: just a little more super glue and art work!;)

15. Hey Everyone Hows Everyone's Flowers Doing? I Started Talking To A Face Up Artist About Working On Hana Shonen So Hopefully He Will Get Painted Soon.

16. Yay! Congrats, I hope your flower gets all painted up nicely and soon!
My boy got stuck to the shelf liner I have on the doll shelves (to keep them from slipping off), so I have to do some repair work to the blushing. :(
My Anson is in pieces and sprayed in preparation for blushing, but I have yet to get to it. :sweat I suspect I'll take every bit as long doing her as I did him.

17. My, so many different and beautiful flowers... it's beena long time and I missed this thread a lot. I love seeing all your flower's pics everyone!
My beauty now has a homemade bed of her own to grow sweet dreams ^.^ (by french artist Maguynel)

and here is a pic of her custom dress, made by french artist Karasu :

I love her so much.. she's so spoiled ^^'

• x 2
18. Obviously very spoiled indeed...but quite deservedly so!:) She is stunningly beautiful and therefore should be surrounded by beautiful and unique things. This was an absolute delight to see.

19. Lorelei your doll is gorgeous and I love that bed. I can see you have really thought out how you want her to look with everything blue and white. I love it. Her dress is perfect. I can't figure out how you got her to lay down without breaking the petals. Is something under her to prop up the head?

20. Thank you PoeticSoul! You know, I fell in love with BohemiaRose as soon as I saw her years ago <3 I'm glad to see she's still in good shape.

Thanks Shashy ^.^ blue and white are my favorite colors... it shows? XD the bed has been made by Maguynel -her flick'r- on my directions, she's truly a talented crafter.
To lay her down, I simply put her on her back, careful not to add any weight on her head, just like my other bjds but more gently. The petals at the back of her head are sturdy enough to sustain her head+her petal headback :) and this bed is very smooth and soft. However when I store her or I travel with her, I put a cushion between her neck and the mattress to be sure she won't apply any more pressure to these petals.
I have this doll since 2012, still no petals chipped or broken yet... it scares me a bit whenever I read of Anson petals breaking stories. Crossed fingers!

21. Lorelei_D - Lovely! Very perfect bed for her, and wow, that dress! Blue is my favorite color too, so I am really enjoying her!

22. Did Any Of You Guys Get The Gingo Or Fingo Dolls Too?

23. I wanted to and really considered getting one of them, but I finally decided not to do it. I hope I won't regret it xD

24. I admit, I didn't even know that Jinggo and Finggo existed (out of the loop ^.^"), but I really like the way they did their little flower boots! ^__^

25. draenion I Thought The Same But Now I Regret It
Lady Ravenswood They Really Are A Cute Bunch. I Am In The Process Of Getting Both. They Will Be Hana Shonen's Little Brothers. I Think They Will Be A Good Pair Of Brothers For Him.

My Face Up Artist & Myself Are Still Talking Ideas For Hana Shonen So He Is Still Blank As Of Now.

26. Hana Shonen will have a lot of fun with little brothers! Congratulations for snagging them even after they were gone!

27. I just loved looking through all these pictures! I have my own anson final,y on the way, and she should be here tomorrow! Now I've just got to find myself a handsome moment. XD I can't wait to share too!

28. Congrats! It will be great to see what you do with her. ^__^

29. Congratulations, Atomiczombiephd!:) Lucky you to manage to snag one of these amazing beauties. I can't wait to see what you do with her. People do such interesting things with these very special sculpts, be it faceup or styling. They seem to bring out the creativity in everyone!

30. @Atomiczombiephd Congrats On Finding Your Anson. I Can't Wait To See What You Do With Her

31. Moment seems like the one who's REALLY going to be a challenge, and I actually like him only a teensy bit more. ( I've got a soft spot for boys. )

32. She arrived today and omg I'm in love! She's so pretty! She's yellowed and loosely strung but those are easy to fix. My question is a.) where do I find human arms to hybrid? And b.) these ear magnets are crazy weak. Fixes for that?

33. First off, congrats on her arrival. And to answer your questions (A) You can easily order human arms for that specific body (it's the B45-008 if I'm remembering correctly) from Dollzone (or any of their dealers like DDE or MOC.) And (B) unfortunately the weak ear magnets were crazy weak in all these dolls. I never heard of a good fix for that I'm afraid, so most of us just deal with it.

34. Once I get the faceup done on my Moment, I was always planning to just glue them on. :XD:

35. I called DDE and she said she's pretty certain I can't just get the arm parts. :/
I've emailed MOC and Alice collections as well to ask about Just buying the arm parts.
Also, I'm thinking after her faceup is done, going ahead and just gluing them in as well.

36. Have you tried asking Dollzone directly? I wonder if they would let you, while a distributor wouldn't know for sure. Worth a try anyway.

Oh Wait!

You can get them right here: www.doll-zone.com

:)

37. Those are it! But how do I order them??
Like, I'm not seeing purchase options for anything.

38. Thank you so much! I've emailed them as well. :D anson is going to get a bath, and I'm going to start her faceup soon. XD

39. Yay! ^__^

Also, in terms of yellowing, DZ resin seems to just mellow by itself after a year or so. My Anson (WS) has basically been stored in a dark closet since I got her, and she's the same exact color as my Moment, who has been out (though also stored carefully to avoid sunlight). So the new arms should match up before too long I would think.

40. Awesome! Congratulations on getting your Anson! No pressure or anything, but I too, can't wait to see what you get to do with her!

The ears are annoying. I use a tiny bit of kneaded eraser to help them stick a tiny bit better, but they still fall off in a stiff breeze.

41. I've noticed that about the ears, oh my goodness. I'll get some pictures of her soon.

42. Just a quick pic from the last meet I took her to. I haven't had a chance to give her any customization yet, but I have it all planned!

Her name is Orpha, and she is a flower from Wonderland. She came back with Alice, and has been with her family for many generations since.

43. Cool story! Congratulations! :dance

44. I'm always so amazed by how stunningly beautiful this sculpt is blank...so it's really nice to see a reminder like this. My own Anson has been completed and dressed forever it seems, so seeing one blank always makes me smile with the memories of how my own beloved girl began. A flower from Wonderland? Oh, I'm all a-quiver with anticipation!:)

45. Sounds like you'll be having fun! :3nodding:

46. Finally got my girls head cleaned and sprayed. I didn't notice until AFTER her face was white and not yellow- which was because I had used a magic eraser on her face! So her yellowing must just be from needing a good clean. Sucky thing is she's already sprayed with MSC, and I don't want to take it all off. I figure after she's all done up you prooooobably won't notice it anyway.

47. Yup, won't notice! :)

48. [IMG]

Hana Shonen has himself a pet

49. Cute! ^__^

50. Really cute pair! They go together well!

51. That's positively adorable gaiboiozz...they go perfectly together!:)

52. Thank you everyone. I am still hoping to add to my little flower family, wink wink

53. I hope this helps bring the thread back to life. Hana Shonen took a bath today & I couldn't help myself take a picture of him

54. Ooh! Nice and bright white clean!
I've been thinking about stripping mine back down and redoing him. I still have not done anything with my Anson. Poor girl is still in pieces, waiting to be blushed.

55. Hana Shonen is looking very fresh! :)
And you're right. I do miss us all chatting in this thread!

Oh, haha...my Anson is also in pieces. :sweat
I haven't really been able to work on Fryer at all either because I hurt my shoulders and am just now starting to be healed enough to do much of anything. Booo....I missed all of the lovely spring weather that lends itself to faceups before the humidity of summer swamp coolers. :doh

56. Hows everyone's flower children doing?

57. Bohemia Rose is doing well, always on display and greatly loved.:) And here's some exciting news...I'm getting a second Dollzone Anson! She's currently enroute from Canada (I live in the US but for some reason, it always takes twice as long for me to get a package from Canada as it does from any other country in the world.) But at least she's on her way. Can't wait...even though it will take me ages to do her artwork.:sweat
