DollZone mini Discussion Part 15

Hi. That's the body I just bought. Xiao Chu's head is 17'8, so I guess it will fit a standard 18cm MSD head.
I bought it in peach skin for a 18cm DF-H head in normal pink. When I get it, I'll let you know how they fit together.

Hello, maybe someone know how to put headcap (it doesn’t have magnets) to old dollzone head (I have very old Dollzone Mo)?

 

I think you're supposed to somehow get the s-hook through the hoop on the headcap to attach it to that but honestly? I just made very thin small strips with Blu Tack, placed those on the edges of the scalp and pressed them together for a moment, his headcap stays on perfectly fine like that.

@Lailiren - I usually use masking tape to keep the magnetless headcaps on. I put a strip onto the back of the head where the cap and head meet and it's mostly enough

 

I loop a small hair elastic through the bar in the headcap and use a crochet hook to stretch it down to attach to the s-hook. It keeps the headcap on nicely and makes it easier to remove without pinched fingers.

Did anyone buy the Devil beast ver? I received my girl yesterday and love her but.................her faceplate doesn't seem to sit on quite correctly!

It's like the headback is slightly too small. I can't get the edge to line up properly. Almost like the faceplate shrunk in casting lol.

 

I finally got around to ordering a replacement body for my dollzone carter!! I've had him since like June 2016 and he's been naked and stuff this whole time because their old 1/4 male body was super hard to shop for!!
I'm really excited for it to come in!

 

@lynxie - that's a very cool-looking doll! I'm sorry about the headback not quite fitting! I wonder if you could do the old "heat gently in warm water and then mold the parts together" trick? I've heard of people doing that with headcaps that didn't quite fit - perhaps it would work in this case?

I have a question about resin color that someone might be able to help with. I have some bjd heads in "Mia White" that are coming in soon. Would Dollzone Peach or White be more likely to match with them? I've heard that Dollzone WS is more yellow-white than paper white, but I don't know if that's still the case (and I haven't seen the heads yet, so I don't know how white/pink/yellow they are).

My Shadow (the wyvern from the P-Studio/Dollzone collab) came in today. I ordered her in black about...4 and a half months ago?

You guys, these dragons are stunning. They aren't going to win any rewards for poseability, but the level of detail in their scales and teeth is amazing. I'll take photos tomorrow in the sun once it's warm out. I'm so happy I ordered this bad boy in black, the color is so rich and deep and I haven't noticed any sanding marks.

For anyone else getting theirs, the box is HUGE. It's mostly foam however, the little dragon is surprisingly light and small. I can easily grab mine with one hand (I need two to carry my DV 1/4 dragon and prefer to use two when carrying Whale Tower's Rafayeh).

When it's back in the 70s and sunny I'll try to take some size comparisons with the dragons I have that aren't unstrung.

@Quiet and Insane wiring will help a little, especially with the wings (they're heavy for the frame and tend to droop). The torso not so much. I'm not a fan of the locking shoulders/hips either, DZ did the same thing for their 1/4 Yin-Long and I'm not crazy about it lol. When I work on the dragon I'll see if I can hot glue suede over it.

 

Absolutely stunning! I love the black and kinda wish I ordered it in that resin color now haha. Also are the shoulder kindof glued in place? It looks like it could move the the interlocking segments, but I wasn't able to do so...but it seems like your joints could move?

@middletails maybe there was some hot glue sueding that melted in transit? I've had that happen with a couple of my dolls. I can pop the shoulders out and move them easily!

@middletails i think he looks great in white too! very bony, or leucistic crow feel going on. And if you decide you hate it well you can always dye him! (I went through the same dilemma with my DV dragon and have decided to dye him a deep red when I unstring him bc I regret not ordering the red resin...) Glad you got the shoulders to come out

Hello everyone. I went inactive over 5 years ago but am starting to get back into the hobby. After a quick scroll through here I can see Doll-zone has changed quite a lot since I got my first doll 15 years ago. The wyvern is back up for order at some dealers at least, like legenddoll. Limited to 50 sets this time!

 

I'm loving seeing all the old DollZone minis! They're still my favorite sculpting aesthetic, I'm a little sad that the style has changed so much but I'm very happy with the ones I have.

Here's my Shoyo, Laika! She looks a bit less yellow irl than in this edit. My first doll and I'm pretty sure she's at least a decade old! I'd have to check my records. She's never had a faceup because her character is a bit robotic (that and when I was new to the hobby I didn't want to restrict her to just one expression. The sculpt is so versatile and expressive even without!)



I also have a very orange tan Scarecrow Hal named Halogen and a Jake that is going to be customized into Dabi from My Hero Academia, I'm really excited for the project!

Honestly the one I regret missing was the Annie fullset, I'm not currently looking to buy one (so I hope it's OK to mention here) but I always loved the look.

Oh, and I also have Adalia, my Penny fullset! She's been mostly on display but I've been waiting to do an outdoor photoshoot with her once I maybe wire her or get a stand since she does have a faceup I love and I don't want her to faceplant!

 

Ouuuu! But, I just bought a doll body [for a floating head] before this was announced. So, I'll have to miss out, again.

Old DZ minis are very cute! I have one but don't remember what mold she is. My friend who ordered her originally in 2011 or 2012 doesn't remember it either (
She yellowed a bit through years but still has a very nice color

Glad I started a resurgence of old sculpt pictures. Now that the weather is getting nicer I might actually venture out to do a photoshoot for the first time in years. are there any requests for which of my dolls you'd like more pictures of? Reminder so you don't have to scroll back I own a Kimi, male Shoyo, Yuri, Yume, a blank Dorothy, and a blank Yan.

 

I mean honestly, we don't see enough of any of those sculpts so I vote for all of them! Probably not entirely helpful.

 

Ditto though I especially have a fondness for Shoyo and I'm curious about Yan since I have her default outfit somewhere and always thought her face was cute.

I finally got my tarot The Hanged Man today! I've been waiting for 2 years. And she's on the winged body, though I ordered the non-winged one, and the flat feet I ordered with her weren't sent. Fortunately the wings are assembled as a piece that fits into an space in her back that are easily switched out with a back plug. Since I have them, I can use them some of the time, since ley look pretty cool. Anyway, here's my new lady! Apologies for the messy hair.

Oh congratulations on her finally arriving!! That wait must have felt like forever.

 

It was very long wait! Fortunately, I love her! I haven't made her any custom clothes yet except for a petticoat, but I plan to make her a lot of Gothic Lolita dresses.

 

Does anyone have, by chance, a "new pink" (the one available right now) Resin doll from Dollzone? I'm looking for a match to a (small artist) floating head and the head is very pinkish
If you have the resin color and could compare with Ringdoll normal, Volks fresh/normal (or DD normal or SW), Luts normal, fairyland normal or Resinsoul normal that would help a lot... It seems very pinkish on their Resin chart but I know it can be different in person

 

Hello~ I have DZ Mo-2 from like... 2007-2008ish, I bought him brand new as a full set (in that time frame he's always been mine), but switched out his whole look except for the faceup. Initially I gave his clothes to another of my boys, but they got lost in a fire in 2011-2012 so I no longer have the outfit he came with. But my dolls themselves are fine (weird priorities I know, I hauled my dolls, my dog and my laptop out, everything else be damned XD). His name is Tanso, he's the one in my profile picture. That dress is one I lost.

Not rn, they were on photobucket back when it was free for whatever, but now they want me to pay for my account space. So I lost like, 4 years of photos lol. And since I lost all their clothes, the boys are taking turns as a plastic wrap and masking tape mummy. I'm having to make brand new pattern blocks for them all. After the fire I spent a while just not having the energy or time so he lived in the closet for a while.

 

Turns out I was NOT a complete knob and DID save some of my BJD pictures on some old flash drives! Who knew?! Good job, Past Self!
