Dollzone Discussion ~ 60 and 70cm ~ Part VI

Feb 27, 2015

    1. @Rabbit-moon , they don't mention environmental though they seem to think the new yellow resin is more stable and feels better when it is held.
Weirdly, I was rather fascinated by the carrot-orange and very disappointed by its discontinuation. A bit as if I was watching a zebra being born with pink stripes!
Their new tan is very nice, I hope they'll offer some more new sculpts for Mina's/Riven's body. Since I've seen D.Resin's Mina's on flickr, I have been incapable of seeing Minas other than in this bright carrot-orange skin and this pink wig!

    2. @ATYL - Ahh, he's gorgeous! :D More spam please! (When you have the time of course, no need to rush!)

@Rabbit-moon - I have to admit I'm a little like that with the Raymond sculpt. Knowing me, I'll end up with a hoard of rescued Raymonds if I'm not careful!

@Yumeko-chan - Green is indeed DC only, but DZ have released a grey resin too!

    3. Looking at the new resin on the page it doesn't look like environmental resin to me. I think I might need to change up the body I was going to order for my migidoll though. I got the new white body in for my delf luwen head and it's seriously paper white and really luminous where my luwen head is probably closer to a normal yellow. I want her white skin though so I'm working on trying to air brush her a lighter color.
They said the new resin should be volks normal color so that should work for a different doll I have here!

    4. I have my boy Vishnya temporarily shelled as a DZ Jeremy!

and he used to be the shell for my character Alexander

not quite sure what I'm going to do with him after I get Vishnya's new shell since I'm just not feeling Alexander anymore but we'll see!

    5. Thanks Lilla! I agree; the new resin doesn't look environmental. (YAY!:dance)

LOL! Sorry you are disappointed that DZ discontinued the carrot-orange tan. I think my problem with the carrot-orange tan color was that it wasn't really "tan", unless you used a lot of old, instant-tan Coppertone from the 1960s. I think I probably would have been okay with it, if they had just called it "orange". Orange is a nice color.

Wow, the DZ Jeremy sculpt is pretty versatile to have shelled two of your characters. He looks great as either character! That red wig is very striking on him.

    6. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH GREY RESIN!!! Sorry. Notsorry GREY RESIN. I sooo want a new Dollzone boy in GREY RESIN FFFFFFFFF

Until then, see the new Silfe look. I've done him in blue before, but it's never stuck, despite how bewitching he is in it. But this time I think I've got a keeper. His clothes didn't look right on him, so...I took them off. And then he demanded (HIS idea NOT MINE) that I douse him in glitter. So now he sparkles. Sorrynotsorry. Again

    7. @Chernyymoloko - Yay, Jeremy! He looks great as both of your characters! :)

@Redfaery - Ooh, I think the blue really suits him! And you can't go wrong with glitter. :D

    8. I agree, Redfaery, grey resin is an awesome addition! I would have loved a grey Wing.

Ooooh! Silfe is workin' that glitter! He looks very sexy!

    9. The blue looks great on Silfe, Redfaery, but I'm horribly biased as Fei-Lau's face-up is primarily blue with a little purple and grey (Winter Storm God and all).

I've got a serious weakness for grey resin. I currently have 4 grey dolls and one of my to-get-someday dolls is also grey. When I see a doll for sale that's grey I also auto-click on it just to see.

    10. I gotta say, I think a DZ Minas in grey resin would be awesome! A kind of a Queen of the Damned sort of trope. (My brain is already spinning on how to make this happen!)

    11. Hello^^

I suppose this is the right place to write. I got replacement part for Sawarieda mermaid and it's not the part I need despite DZ telling me otherwise. The part is blushed and my Sawarieda is blank and not broken on that particular joint. So maybe you know someone who didn't get the replacement part or got the wrong one (I still lack two broken parts from DZ). Just PM me, please, because I understand how the person without replacement must feel.

    12. Ooooh, yes, I'm joining the choir on that grey resin! I'd love me a Grey in grey. Hehe! Oh dear, how to resist the temptation...
Oh yeah! Minas would look awesome in grey, Rabbit-Moon! I'd love to see that happen!
      Silfe glitter - that's epic!! :)

I took some pics of my Wei Xiaobao. Does anyone else here have this guy btw? My boy is on the good old 65cm body, so he's a bit bigger than the original fellow.

    13. I don't think I've ever seen that one before! He's so cute!

    14. Wow! Awesome pictures, Blankqueen! Love the costumes and setting! So Victorian!

But who is he? Is that an old Dollzone sculpt? He's really cute!

(And, I have a DZ Oliver and Virgil on the old 65cm body. I have a sort of love/hate relationship with that body.)

    15. Thanks Rabbit-moon and Quiet and Insane! My boy was from the limited Ludingji series DZ did a couple of years ago, with Shuang Er, Kang Xi and the lot. This one was on the old 60cm body and was just called Wei Xiaobao. I don't rename my dolls, they just are what they are. Hehe! I requested just his head directly from DZ, because I wanted him on hte 65cm body, and they agreed to sell it to me. He's a cutie and I'm glad I had time to snatch his head. ;) (I know what you mean about the 65cm body, Rabbit-moon. I have similar feelings about it. In some ways it's brilliant, but then there are some really infuriating things about it too.)

    16. Oh! Now that you mention it, Blankqueen, I do remember that limited run of dolls. Dollzone issued them in 2011. Their original Chinese costumes were really cool! It's nice to see how cute Wei Xiaobao looks in another costume. Always love seeing dolls transformed by their owners' imagination and creativity.

Gah! I really want to get a Minas in the new grey resin, but I'd like to wait and see how things go with the grey resin before I order.

    17. Oh yes, the costumes were impressive in that series, Rabbit-moon! I loved their outfits too and had I had the funds at the time, I would've gotten the full sets of both my boy, as well as Shuang Er, but unfortunately, this head was all I afford at the time. I was so inspired by the whole thing, I even got the Louis Cha book the series was based on thanks to my Wei Xiaobao. :)

I wonder if anyone else here has this guy then? He's also not often seen around. This was the 1/3 Mo (A?) head DZ did a good while ago. I've had this head floating about since 2012 and just yesterday I gave it a face-up. I already have the 1/4 Mo, so against my normal practice, I call him Amos, instead of Mo, so as not to confuse the two. Hehe!

    18. Lovely face-up, Blankqueen! You did a beautiful job on him. I remember those 1/3 Mo heads when they were released. And, yes, I do believe your 1/3 Mo is an "A" head.

      What body is he on?

    19. He looks great @Blankqueen! He does have a very lovely face up. :)

It's winter down here now, but there are still a few (deciduous) trees holding on to their leaves. Azrael needed a little love, so here's a photo!

    20. Thanks rabbit-moon!! He's on an XMdoll 60cm body that is looks-ways very reminiscent of the old 60cm one from DZ with the chubby little fingers and the immature frame. The head has obviously yellowed some, having been in my closet for so long, but it's still a passable match to this brand new normal skin XMdoll body that has a yellowish undertone to the resin.

Ooooh, looking pretty over there (in Down Under I presume?) with the autumn colours, Quiet and Insane! And who needs leaves when we have Azreal! Aww, he sure does look like he could use some love! Can't help but be taken in by that imploring look in his eyes. I'm sending admiration his way by the virtual bucket load!

    21. He looks good on that body, Blankqueen. And, yes, I remember those old DZ 60cm boy bodies. I got B60-003 for my 5Star Tumnus head back in 2012 when they discontinued a lot of their older bodies. I really liked those old bodies. The old version-3 body is very sturdy and solid, and stands like a rock. However, he does have kind of chunky hands. But, I actually like them.:doh

Oh Quiet and Insane, he looks beautiful with all that lovely foliage behind him.

OXOXOXOXOXO We luff him! And, his gorgeous hands!

    22. @Blankqueen - Thank you very much! :) We are down under here in Australia...it's shaping up to be a very colourful winter so far! Heh, he's pretty good at giving a puppy-eyed look, I guess he's a little jealous that I've been spending time (and money) on a few of my other dolls lately. Despite this, he's still my #1. :aheartbea

@Rabbit-moon - Thank you! :D I do adore those hands...though they are in need of re-blushing.

    23. Yes, Rabbit-moon, that's exactly the body I was meaning. Your boy looks lovely on it!! It's such a soft and young looking body. They don't often make bodies like that anymore. I really liked those old bodies too, chunky fingers and all, both the girl and the boy versions. I'm still gutted I didn't have time to get Morphoa and Floy on them. Oh well, I'll just have to content myself with my Amos now, and in fact, he's really starting to grow on me. I prefer this new styling for him. He seems like the youngest of all my SDs and he has some endearing quality about him, even if his expression speaks of a certain level of wilfullness. Hehe!

, ooooh yes, some dolls are particularly good at making us feel guilty, aren't they! Hehe! I can well imagine Azrael doing a great job of it. ;)

    24. Oh! Blankqueen, I love how you've styled your Amos/Mo 1/3 boy! (Wow! You take such beautiful photographs!) Is Amos a Fox Spirit? That tail is very cool!

I know how you feel about the ones that got away. Morphoa and Floy were both awesome sculpts! I hated to see them discontinued. I wish Dollzone had an archive of all their old, discontinued sculpts. You'd think a company would want to keep a record of all the beautiful sculpts that put them on the map. Why erase your history?

And I wish I'd gotten a darling Joe, and had the foresight to buy another B60-003 boy body when I had the chance. I love how it looks. And the sturdy engineering of the body feels good in your hands; plus he's a great poser. Unhappily, I had no love for the B60-004 body; it was soooo thin and the arms seemed oddly short. Now, the new B60-005 is 62cm and still appears to be on the thin side, but I like it a lot better than its predecessor.

    25. @Blankqueen - That outfit is gorgeous! :D Azrael is the master of making me feel guilty for not hanging out with him. :P

@Rabbit-moon - I agree! I like being able to look back at a company's history and all of their older sculpts.

    26. Mr. Silfe will see you now.

      [IMG]Sparklies

      Silfe: wait, what? I'm...no. No.

    27. LOL! Poor baby! I guess he's not in the mood for company. (But, he's so pretty, I'll bet a lot of people want to be his company.)

    28. Aww, but Silfe, you're so pretty. :sorry

    29. Well this is going to be a stupid post. Tam has jumped shells again. Silfe is so happy! He made me take a photograph for the occasion.

      [IMG]Hmmm

    30. What a handsome fellow! I know he isn't a Dollzone, but who is he? He looks perfect next to Silfe. <3

    31. @Redfaery - Aww, the new Tam is still quite lovely, and Silfe does look quite happy. :)

    32. @Rabbit-moon & @Quiet and Insane the funny thing is, this is the old Tam! He's a Dragondoll Cheng. Now I just have to figure out what to do with the Leslie Formerly Known as Tam.

    33. Wow! A Dragondoll Cheng! What a handsome fellow! So regal, and masculine looking. He looks really good next to your DZ Edward/Silfe. I love their beautiful outfits!

    34. Well then, that just shows you how much I pay attention. >.<

    35. That's lovely that Tam is in his old shell again! I gotta admit, I had a hard time seeing him in the Leslie, but that's probably because I was so used to him being a Dragondoll Cheng!

That new tan Raymond is so handsome, fortunately I'm not tempted as he doesn't scream "Take me home!!" at me. I dodged a bullet there!

Oh! Val got a new face up this weekend, his eyebrows had bothered me for a while now, they just didn't look right. I'm much more satisfied with his look now!

      • x 3
    36. Oh IzabethS, your Val looks wonderful in his new face up. He looks refreshed, but I still recognize him as Val. Such a gorgeous boy!

Cloudedmind, the new tanned Raymond looks very yummy! I really like the look of the new tan resin. I wish they'd show a full doll in their new grey resin.

    37. Everyone know how much of a Raymond fan I am...this new version just screams "take me home". Ugh...if only I wasn't saving for a car...:sigh

@IzabethS - Val looks great! His eyebrows are lovely. :D

    38. Uuuuuugh, the new Raymond. Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!! He's so gorgeous. He'd look GREAT in grey resin.

@IzabethS Val looks charming as always, and I figured you'd be happy to see Old Tam back...

    39. Yep...just you wait...as soon as I've bought my car I'll be saving for another (a third!) Raymond. XD

    40. Does anyone have the shoulder width measurement for the B60-005 body? MoC has it listed at 11cm, and I just want to double check if that indeed is correct.

    41. I'm digging that new tan Raymond hardcore... *swoon* I wish I had more time to spend hanging out with you guys!! *flails over the new pics of everyone* Love Silfe's blue face-up. And I've never seen pics of one of the SD Mo done up! He's much prettier with a face-up. :D

I promised a whle ago to get some pics of Isaac, Robin and Leslie all next to each other when my partner and I had them all home, so here they are! Don't let the perspective fool you; these boys are all mostly the same size. Leslie is slightly bigger, but with a wig on, this would probably be a negligible difference.

Sam FINALLY got a body blush. It's not done yet (took me 5.5 hours to get to this point), she still needs more scales. But I wanted to share her!

      • x 2

    43. He looks handsome! Do you have a whole body photo? I need to see a owners photo of the body :D

    44. I have this body too, and I did a comparison of it to my (former) B70-001 body. /threads/dollzone-b70-001-vs-b70-003.667663/

    45. Wow! thanks for the photo, OkamiKodomo! I really like Isaac's features. I didn't realize how handsome he was until your picture of his head.

Holy cow! 5.5 hours to blush her? IzabethS, that is a lot of work, but she looks lovely! Her tail is amazing!

    46. Hello!

I'm considering on ordering a DZ 1/3 body for one of my girls, but so far haven't been able to choose between the 58 cm and 56 cm bodies, so I thought I could seek some advice from here!

You see, I'm a little worried about the posing. I love the 58 body's thigh joint, but it's waist joint (or more like a under the breasts joint, maybe) looks pretty stiff. I'm wondering if she is able to move her torso at all to pose? The 56 cm body looks a little more posable on that part.

    47. Thanks! And yeah, I spent a long time blushing her as I'm insane and doing it all with pastels! I'll try to get better pictures of her as this one washed out a lot of the blushing...
