Ahh those eyes!

 

And, just cos this thread needs some more Classic 70cm Love, here's a photo of my ancient Cloud. He's 10 years old this year! Wow! Can you believe it? He was never a very popular sculpt, but I love him. He's quite the rogue.

 

Thanks Quiet and Rabbit-moon!! I made those eyes myself with acrylic bases I got off of eBay.

I love your Cloud, he's very handsome and moody looking!!


And one more picture of Val, who will be turning 5 in October. I've been itching to redo his face up again as I didn't quite get his eyebrow shape right the last time...

 

@Rabbit-moon - 10 years old? Wow! He's super cool-looking.

@IzabethS - Val is just gorgeous! And nearly 5 years old too... Poor Azrael is a baby at a mere 2 years. And Salmarnir's head only arrived a month or so ago.

 

Thank you! Val is a baby next to Rabbit-moon's Cloud too! I love seeing Azrael though, can't wait to see Salmarnir's debut!

 

Sal's going to take a while given that I still need to save for the both of them to get semi-matching face ups. I wouldn't dare do Az's myself.

Thank you IzabethS and Quiet and Insane! My Cloud is a snarky & moody little cuss. That's why I got him so long ago. (My taste for moody boys started early.). He was just so different. (At the time, everyone was fawning over CP/Lut's El.)

But, you'll notice in the picture, he doesn't have the big ol' man-hands that the B70-001 bodies have. As soon as Dollzone came out with the next generation of hands for the 70cm boys, I immediately bought a pair for him.

Actually, I should take another picture of Cloud because I put a pair of DZ jointed hands on him. My 2006 Ying got the Version 2 hands. As you can see, I have a "thing" for hands. I love dolly hands!

 

Oh wow! I thought his hands looked a little small for being so old! Val has absolutely stunning hands on the B70-003 body. They are beautifully detailed.

Thanks IzabethS for the extra picture of Val! There can't be too may pictures of that handsome boy! But, I have to confess, I am curious about the new face-up you intend to give him.

 

It won't be a big difference from the old face up, Val is on his third one so far. Basically I just want him to have better eyebrows, these just aren't quite him at the moment.

 

Mmm, pretty hands are the best...Az has the B70-003 body/hands. I fell in love with them the moment I pulled him out of the box.

I've always been a fan of the 68cm body's hands, with their curled and delicate fingers. They were never available separately, and this caused trouble when Silfe lost a couple fingers. MoC was so incredibly helpful though, even though I hadn't bought Silfe from them. They put in a special order for me, and now Silfe has his hand back!

@Rabbit-moon I've never been quite sure. He's a very mysterious fellow...

 

@Rabbit-moon - Thank you! Azrael is a businessman who is possessed by a malevolent demon. Through this he discovers his best friend isn't entirely human, and this opens up a whole new world of weirdness to him. He also ends up having to 'babysit' two Vikings pulled from their time into the future, all while trying to figure out how to get the demon out of him without dying (something that has never been done before). I guess that's the long and short of it.

Wow! That's some backstory! Very intriguing. (And, it sounds funny, too!) Sounds like Azrael has his hands full.

Well, its going to be a while before I can afford that lovely B70-003 body for my Chen head, so I tried him on a normal pink DF-H 65cm boy body I had lying around. (Don't ask! It's a long, sad story). The seller told me that the Chen head was normal pink, but he's several years old and Dollzone resin does yellow pretty quickly.

Here's a photo of him next to my LLT Roderick, who is on a normal yellow DollFamily-H 65cm boy body. It's pretty obvious that it is not a spectacular match, although I do like the size and proportions. The head fits nicely on the body, and has a good range of motion. Maybe with some blushing, I could make this work. Hmmmm

 

That does look pretty good proportion-wise @Rabbit-moon !! It's really hard for me NOT to try and buy every Chen head I see on the MP, mostly because I know Val doesn't need an extra head, and I have no need for a floating head either.

 

@Rabbit-moon - Haha, thank you! It is a little funny in parts, but most of the time it can be quite serious. Azrael, by nature is a bit stuck-up and very much higher-than-thou, so this really brings him down to earth and makes him open his eyes to the world around him. I hope you can find a nice body for your Chen. The B70-003 is a lovely body.

Izabeth, I know what you mean about wanting to buy every Chen head! The old sculpts were so lovely. Dollzone definitely had a signature style that I was drawn to. I feel like rescuing every old DZ sculpt that I see.

Here's another photo of Chen on the DollFamily-H 65cm body to show the proportions a little better. I didn't know if I was going to like this combination (I just did it to check out the neck size on the Chen head) but I find that I quite like the way he looks on that body. I really like the DF-H body; it not too thin and it poses well. (Sadly, better than the original DZ B70-002 body.) Another point in its favor is that it cost less than a DZ body.

Thank you, Quiet and Insane. I have a character who's a little like that too, my fallen angel, SpiritDoll Dark. Your Azrael is a lovely boy and I hope I see more of him. For the meantime, my Chen is probably going to stay on this DF-H body until I can get the money together for the B70-003 body.

I love the new boy bodies and definitely want to use them for several male sculpts that I have. But I'm curious about what the actual chest size is for the B70-004 body. Could you measure it for me? It's bigger than any other body in that size and when I asked MoC about it they thought it might have been measured wrong. I think it's a beautiful body!

I love your James/ Jeremy sculpt! He's has a lovely expression! I have both Riven and Minas in tan skin and I think the resin has mellowed a lot since I received them. Surprisingly my Minas body looks great with my LillyCat Elena head. I want to buy one for her in either normal yellow or pink.

@Pony - I get 34.5 cm. I just measured. He's a big guy!

 

I gave Silfe a mini makeover (new outfit) he LOVES it. I think it more fully expresses his playfulness.

You can't go wrong with a ruffled shirt.

 

@Rabbit-moon Silfe is actually quite fun to dress. The shirt he's wearing is a standard 70cm K2 from MintonCard, but I've gotten him to wriggle into SD13 stuff with no problem, and it's fit him beautifully.

 

RedFaery, that's awesome that he can wear standard 70cm clothes! It's such a bummer when you can't find clothes that will fit.
I think I need a ruffled shirt for one of my big boys.

Here's a little spam of my DZ Hong. Im so endlessly fascinated by this sculpt! He's always changing. First he was a blond, lothario poet; then he was a red-headed demon with horns and DZ demon hands; and now he is a black-haired Cosplay Black Butler. I wonder where he will go next?

 

@Rabbit-moon the problem with dressing Silfe in standard 70cm clothes is that much of the most beautiful stuff is made for the "hulking he-men" (as Silfe puts it) that are now so popular. SD17 clothes are a pretty good fit for him, though.

Yeah RedFaery, the older DZ big boys are pretty slender, especially the B70-002 and B72-001 bodies. I had pretty good luck with Dollmore Model Doll boy pants fitting my Hong.

Thank you Quiet and Insane! I think he does a good job of Cosplaying Sebastian. He's got that little touch of haughty smugness I find so appealing.

I went over to the DZ Waiting Room, and it sure doesn't look like many people are getting the new DZ big boys. I have to admit Isaac and Robin are not calling to me. They look more like Doll Chateau sculpts, and that's not necessarily a bad thing, but I do prefer the original DZ style.

 

I personally really would like an Isaac, but I don't have the money or the room for another big guy sadly. Perhaps one day...

 

I splurged on an Isaac (partly for the mini kitty). Still have to paint his arm and agree he is more DC style, but happy to have him as part of my crew.

 

It's a shame I haven't seen any owner pictures of Isaac. He is a beautiful boy, and maybe owner pics would help me warm up to him.

Wow! ATYL, you have an Isaac? I would love to see a photo of him.

Thank you Blankqueen! I really do love the Hong sculpt. He's so haughty. He's wearing the old DZ Hallowmas outfit from 2011. It really is a beautiful suit. Denver Dolls still had one in stock a couple years ago.

Your Mina is gorgeous! I love how you've brought her to life. She looks very sweet, but there still seems to a bit of the coquette in her. Absolutely darling!

OMG! Look who just arrived today!

I have been wanting a second Yuu for some time now. I tried to get another one last year when Dollzone did their Discontinuation Event for all the old classic sculpts, but that didn't work out. Luckily, a very nice lady in the Marketplace was selling him for a very reasonable price and I just couldn't resist. He's a 2013 normal-yellow Yuu and he arrived in pristine condition. He's absolutely gorgeous! His resin is beautiful and smooth, and all his seams are sanded. And, he's on the B70-002 body. (I'm seriously in love with the B70-002's hands) I was also surprised at how well his head fits on that body.)

I have always loved the Yuu sculpt, so I'm extremely happy that I could give this boy a new home. His name is Lorre.



Now, I gotta get him a face-up!

I still can't believe that Dollzone discontinued such a great sculpt. Oh well, everything changes. And, he is from a time when sculpts were more anime looking.

Wow! It's hard to believe its been a whole decade since I got my first Yuu.

 

It does seem that quite a few companies are moving away from the anime style and into a more unique, realistic style. Though I do admit I adore Yuu. It must be that nose.

thanks @Rabbit-moon ! it was fun trying to match his factory face up and not worry as much about realism. story? hm... I think he was captain of a post-apocalyptic peace-enforcing elite military unit. after too many years doing "wrong" things in the name of "right", he volunteered for a dangerous mission, where he got gravely injured. a prearranged surgeon extracted the technologies and armor, and gave him a human appearance, allowing him to escape. underground, he lives in an urban area, a loner who lives to atone for his "sins"... and I like the name Isaac for him.

@ATYL ,Great blushing/painting! Love the idea of post-apocalyptic world (the idea only! Give me no apocalypse any day!).

@Yumeko-chan , I checked Dollzone News and they only talk of replacing the present Yellow skin by another one which looks far too white for my taste. I do hope they'll offer tan in the future as I am not interested in pale dolls nowadays. Thankfully they want to change the old yellow to the pale Japanese yellow from the March orders onwards. My boy and his 2nd head should be safe. *Touch wood*.

 

thanks @Lilla! i agree about no apocalypse! didn't realize they're making things lighter still... hope too that they'll bring back tan - eventually would like a body for my cosmo head...

Great ideas for a story, ATYL. The post-apocalyptic storyline is very cool. It really is in line with your Isaac's mechanical arm.

Wow Lilla! Thank you so much for the info! On the Dollzone site, they say they're changing to a Japanese resin. What does that mean? Is that an environmental resin?

Also, starting with the March orders, they are going to start using the new resin, unless you want the old original resin. But, you have to contact them by 10 June if you don't want the Japanese resin used on your order.

The new tan looks really great! I have to admit, I was not a fan of their super-orange-carrot tan.
