I wouldn't risk it Dayme - the problem being Dollzone has a wait time of several months, and they change the resin colour slightly each time, so it's impossible to predict what the next batch will be like in 6 months time (if you ordered today). I made the mistake of ordering a seperate head and body from DZ, months apart - and they didn't match at all! Plus the colour of all resin dolls alters a fair bit during the first year or 2 exposure to air - so you need to factor that in too. You could always blush the head to match better though, if you find they don't match?

 

@elve That's a fair point. Thanks for your answer! I had heard of the DZ resin mismatches, but I didn't think it was that bad. Did you end up blushing the head to match the DZ body you ordered a few months apart? If so, how did that go?
I wish DZ offered resin matching, that way all hybrid problems would be solved. Blushing the head is always an option; as long as the head is lighter than the body! That's a little bit more tricky ><" The new 62cm body is so beautiful, though. By the way, did anyone order Gray or Snow since their release?

 

@Dayme, I have, though it will be at least a further 3 months till I receive them. I cannot wait to see them to tell the truth. My biggest nightmare is the courier turning up when I am not at home. I have bought some clothes for the body (SD13 size) so I will review all of these in the box opening section.

 

Dollzone's resin has gotten a lot more consistent since 2013, the pink skin from April 2015 still matched with the pink from 2016 in March, although there was some yellowing so of course it wasn't a perfect match anymore. Can't speak for the yellow as I only got one from April 2015 and August 2015, but those two match as well still.

 

I left the body naked sitting on a shelf (out of sunlight though) to 'mellow' - as the red pigment in pink fades anyway (it looked like a shrimp when it was new LOL - well almost!) After several months (it took 7 months for me to get the head) they weren't a bad match at all, as the head came with faceup which had quite a pink tone to the blush - the difference wasn't noticeable really, which was lucky as dollzone only did the really 'pink' pink briefly.

 

meanwhile Jame's posse of tan dolls grows! He is King of Tan He actually matches my new Barbie doll! I didn't buy any of them 'for him' - they just gravitate towards him - like he's some kind of tan magnet

@elve that is super helpful, thanks! I'm really hoping I can match Volks resin to any of the DZ skin choices... If not, I might just go with a Dollstown body for hybrid. I emailed DZ about it but haven't received a reply; it's been quite a while in fact. They might be ignoring me

@Lilla, I will be waiting patiently for your box opening and review! ^^ Did you get Snow or Gray, or both perhaps? I'm quite excited to see owner pictures.

@elve Ohh that makes quite a lot of sense, thanks! I didn't know about the national holiday, but it's a relief to know that DZ might just be taking some time off. I'll wait patiently for their reply~

 

I had to go to your Flickr to see a large photo of this gal, she has a beautiful face and if you are doing her in shades of gold I hope you are keeping this very pretty wig.

 

@Dayme, I ordered both head. Gray will have the face up, while Snow will be blank.

I don't think either of those two have made it home to their owners yet, you may still have to wait a little while.

hey everyone! I wanted to jump in this thread to say that I've ordered my first SD last night! I had been pining over Gray since he was released and finally was able to order him. Even though I know the wait will be long I'm excited and nervous for my first SD. ^_^

 

Yay congratulations!!. I know how you feel I ordered the head for my SD and I'm soon to pick the body.

 

Would love to see if there are any Tabitha's out there. Those big red eyes!

Yep, DC Stacy on a Dollzone SD body. Fingers crossed. I'm just waiting to hear from my dealer if I can get the body in small bust. Stacy doesn't suit a big bust in my opinion.

 

The Stacy head is very nice. I've liked that one too for a while. hehe. I hope that you can get a small bust for her!

Went ahead and ordered my body. Just put a note on the order for a small bust. If it can't be done then whatever the default size is is fine. I have no patience
So know I wait....and wait. I'm gonna need a lot of good books to read I think.

 

Anybody put a 'regular sized' SD-sized head with an approx 9cm neck hole on the new DZ female bod? I know her neck is only 7.1 cm.... I ordered it for a Supia Ariel head, thinking I could put kips in and use a wig to hide the difference and I don't have either the body nor the head yet and I'm starting to have my doubts already about how it's going to look.

 

None of her parts are OT for DZ, but I have a Soom Sweet Witch head on a DC body. The gap is pretty sizable, but with her wig and being mindful of the angles I photograph her, it's not super obvious (Link to Flickr album)

 

Does anyone have a picture of the B70-004 body nude and standing straight forward? I want to get a good look of the shoulder/chest to hips ratio.I'm wondering if the hips may be a bit to narrow for my tastes compared to the shoulders width.

 

If you search for 'Dollzone Robin' in Flickr, you'll get frontal pictures of him (can't remember the owner's name) as well as one comparing this body with Dollshe's and Soom's.

The hips are a bit narrow I feel, though it makes him look more elegant clothed.

I just received my DZ Robin head! Still waiting on my girlfriend's Isaac and then we can pictures of them side by side and blank! As well as the Leslie head I gave her lol

Thank you! I still need to order his body. That's my next purchase; he is getting a Spiritdoll Proud body. So I can't do his faceup for a while either since I am going to need to blush it to match.

New dollies are always exciting! I finished my dz/souldoll hybrid's faceup tho, so I may have to post him lol. And I need to scroll back through some pages here when I'm not on mobile to see what I missed. I've been bad at keeping up with my favorite threads. This time of year is so busy for me!

@Redfaery - Hey, that's a nice looking wig! I love the colour. Being naked isn't so bad when you have legs like that.

 

Thank you both! Hmm, I'm going to have to really think about it. I love the sculpting of the body, but I just find the hips a little to narrow for my tastes, but maybe it'll be one of those things that doesn't look as jarring in person, and with clothes on.

He's the one on the left dressed in black. That will maybe give you an idea. I really like this body. It is quite wide in the shoulders and hard to find jackets for though. He can wear normal 70cm boy pants.

Loving all the spam you guys. Sorry for being so silent lately, I've been pre-occupied with non doll stuff, like spring cleaning the apartment. I definitely want to do a shoot though with my big DZ dolls! And I'm planning on painting Sam's body soon.

I just got a DZ Chen head off the marketplace. I wonder if that head will fit on this body?

 

@Rabbit-moon - The neck on this body is on the bigger side. 11 or 11.5- I can't remember which. The only SD DZ head I have kickin' around is a Cosmo. I could try that for you? I thought Chen had a smaller neck hole- like 10.5. I think that's what Cosmo has. I tried to find the info on MoC but they don't make him anymore so he's not on the site.

 

Thanks BlitheFool! The Dollzone site, back when the old sculpts were still listed, said that the Chen head had a 11cm neck. I'll have to double-check when he arrives.

I have a Cosmo head kicking around here, too. The Cosmo head, which was made for the 65cm body, is quite a bit smaller than the old 70cm boy heads. I have a Yuu, Ying, Cloud, and Hong; all those heads are pretty big in comparison.

I may do some head switching to see if my DZ Oliver head fits on Hong's body, and visa versa. But, thanks for the offer to photograph the Cosmo head on the 004 body. You're awesome! I really appreciate your willingness to help.

Thanks RedFaery! That's good to know about the B70-003 body, because I just got the Chen head and the neck is definitely smaller than my older DZ 70 boys. I like the Leslie body, so Im glad that's an option.

 

My Chen is on the B70-003 body, and it's a great fit. Really good mobility and no awkwardness that I can see. The color match is horrible, but I think I can fix that with his next face up.

I'll post a picture of him soon, just need to take a new one!
