Just catching up a bit with the thread..... love everyone's photos! (I'm sorry I didn't comment on them individually!)

My Yuu stole one of my other guy's wigs. This one looks much better on him, so I guess he'll be keeping it! Ack. This means I need to buy another wig. Again.

 

All the dolls are so lovely! I love the glasses with the coat on Azrael, Sabra looks like a lady that could rock anything, and Yuu looks great with his pilfered wig!

I think I might name my incoming Byron, Atwood. I got it from a character in the H.P. Lovecraft story, At the Mountains of Madness. Atwood is killed by creatures but I like the name for a doll.

I choose names from books sometimes too, queen_margaret_anne. I named my Hong Maxim after Max de Winter in Daphne du Maurier's book "Rebecca". He's not really like the character, though.

Surprisingly yes, galatia9. He loves being in the spotlight and even when I'm doing things with other dolls he'll always find a way to get in on the action. He's a show off and I adore him. Sabra is gorgeous! She has a very no-nonsense look about her. And I know I've probably said this before but Maxim's eyes are such a lovely colour!

Also, thank you queen_margaret_anne! The glasses do actually belong to Azrael. He's spent so much time staring at a computer screen that he needs reading glasses. And ooh, I've not read that one yet! That's right after the current story I'm reading from the Necronomicon so I'll let you know how that goes. Atwood is a really good name. It's uncommon, but not outlandishly so.

 

Going to unlurk because I not only finished a big doll project (for Leliana) but also took new pictures of my beautiful girl! (with her BFF, Jolene, who's on a DC body)

Here's Sybille, my hybrid, DZ 65cm with Iplehouse Bianca head. I think she looks great! I love this body. I have to thank Girrl's Leilana and Astrid for looking so great that I got two. Well, I would tell them separately that they have such powers and then when they compare notes watch the fur fly!

 

Sybille looks great! Those legs! Is she a clothes thief as well? (looks like some poor unfortunate fella is without his shirt...)

Hey everyone. I'm new to this thread, but I enjoy seeing your lovely dolls.

I have a question I think you guys could answer. I'm looking to get the new Dollits body when it becomes available http://dollits.net/product/Rey-Body/17/?cate_no=1&display_group=3
I really love it, but I'm still looking for that perfect head. I really like DZ Raymond, but I'm not sure his head will fit on the Dollits body. (Dollits is a relatively new site, so there's not a lot of info out on them yet.)

The Dollits neck is 11.4cm, and all the sites selling the Raymond head say it fits a 10cm neck. So I'm afraid the neck hole in the DZ Raymond head might be too small. Could any Raymond owners please tell me if they think it would work or not?

PineRain - Hi and welcome! I've got a Raymond. I'll pull his head off tomorrow and get the right measurements for you (it's rather late and I need to get to sleep). What colour resin do you intend on choosing for the head/body?

Iron_Dog: it's funny. It was like Tam just had to be with Silfe, one way or the other, and since I didn't have an appropriate shell for him, he grabbed the Dragondoll until Leslie arrived. I opened the box and they pretty much ran into each others' arms! My sweet star-crossed lovers...

IzabethS: eeeeek! Jas is one SERIOUS pirate lady! I wouldn't want to mess with her.

 

Quiet and Insane - is your Raymond on the 72cm body? What do you think of it? (I'm on what seems like an endless body-quest right now and trying to think of more options!)
I've got the old 70cm body for my Yuu and although he stands well and poses mostly Ok his joints are driving me insane! Every time I dress him all his joints seem to turn themselves around and I can't figure out what's where until I undress him again. And his giant hands are a total pain with clothes.
I'm looking for a taller body for another head and wondering if the DZ72cm might be an option or if it's just as crazy.....

PineRain - Ah cool. Their resin has been a little inconsistent with colours other than white so that's just a warning. Fingers crossed it settles down. It makes hybriding hard. :P Anyway, to the measurements! The top of the neck where the head connects on the 70cm body is approximately 9.7cm, while the actual neckwell at the bottom of his head is approximately 10.0cm.

Sylphe_7 - He's actually on the 70cm body (B70-003). I understand about the hands...I have to take them off to get certain tops on. Azrael's arms tend to flip around and do what ever they please and he only really 'behaves' when I undress him.

 

Fei-Lau's knees like to buckle randomly *sigh*. I don't think it's the tension of his strings. He could probably stand (no pun intended) to have his knees hot glue sueded, but I'm lazy and not really into re-stringing him.

 

Yep. Silfe has a tendency to just collapse as well. New elastic, tension OK. I think it's just a flaw in the 68cm body.

In other news, Tam and Silfe have designs on "Old Tam." They say it's simply a makeover, but I'll believe that when I see it. It doesn't help that I heard one of them say "gay harems are the best harems."

I DON'T WANT A HAREM, gay or otherwise. They know how to troll me.

I think you're right about the flaw in the 68cm body with the knees. Unfortunately, Fei-Lau isn't my only doll with the Collapse O-matic Knees (tm) so I've kinda learned to live with it. Although, the other doll with that issue is going to be sent out shortly to have that fixed *Yea!*.

You have how many dolls and you say you don't want a harem? Me thinks the lady doth protest too much *snickers*. You know as well as I do that we have very little control over/say in this sort of thing. Give in gracefully. Much less stressful that way and you'll also make it look like you meant to do that all along. After all, we don't own the dolls, they own us.

I have the old 70cm body and it stands really well. I can just put him on the floor in any random way he happens to be flopping about and he stays there like he's nailed to the floor. But posing him is horrible. His limbs just flail around everywhere and all the joints end up screwed around so much I have no idea what's going on. I don't understand how his elbows can manage to be backwards in every direction! XD
How easy is it to take off the hands? I've never tried taking anything apart except changing heads so I have no idea what to do!

Redfaery: It's cute that you're struggling against what the dolls want this late in the game *pokes you*.

In all honesty though, there is a tendency for Things to happen in this hobby when faced with unplanned dolls or dolls who were supposed to be one thing and decided differently leaving you staring and going, "What just happened there?!" I ended up with Fei-Lau, Sleet (Soom Auber), Malachite (Impl Simon Colourful Life), and will be purchasing Rhas-Khan (Impl Ziv) and Eilian (SD Rail) all because I entered a raffle for Khale, never expecting to win him. It doesn't surprise me one bit that old Tam is becoming somebody new on you.

 

Hi Redfaery! Yes, probably although I feel like I know your guys quite well as I've seen them around DoA for a while before I could actually join.

 

Thanks for all the kind comments on Jazz, though the compliments are getting to her head.

Dolls tend to do that, you have plans for them and then they're all "NOPE!! I'm THIS!" and then you have to give in because if you try to force them into the character it just does not work. Some of my OT dolls for this thread have done that. My DZ crew has been pretty good about being the characters I've planned for them.

I ended up with 27 dolls (currently) because of that very thing. I tried to force a character into a sculpt and he was having none of that. As soon as I admitted defeat and started looking for who he really was, his son snapped up the rejected sculpt and then I needed to find his lover and.... You all know how that goes.

The only thing that worries my wallet is that there's a couple of DZ sculpts I look at every now and again and they're so gorgeous but I've no idea who they are (so they don't come home). But, I'm sure there will come a time when it'll hit me who they are (like it did with Fei-Lau) and my wallet will weep in agony.

 

Quiet and Insane - Thanks for the measurements! It seems like the Raymond head opening might be too small then. I'll have to look at other heads.

 

Word. Resistance is futile. Stories change, dolls that I had written to hook up decide to hook up with others on their own. Families divide. I learned quickly that my script is a rough draft the dolls will fill in as things go along. They kind of remind me of hollywood studio execs that way...always meddling in and revising my story...

 

Thing is, Tam was never *supposed* to be the Dragondoll Cheng. His character was much more like the DZ Leslie - gaunt, angular...not able to push Silfe around or dominate him very easily. But then the new body shower up and I put a wig on...and it just went *click*! Back to plan A!

 

Maybe it's a newer version of the 70cm body? He is tall. XD When he arrived I looked at the box and just thought 'holy crap what have I done?' Turns out SD males are my thing though. I do have other smaller bjds but they're all anthros. Anyway, Azrael stands quite well, although he does have a habit of dramatically 'fainting'. His elbows are the only joints with a mind of their own thankfully. I love the extra thigh joints on this body - he can curl up really nicely and his two torso joints give him a nice arch in his back. The hands are easy enough to get off and on again (it's a two person job though), the issue is just making sure that whatever you're using to hold the elastic can fit through the sleeves of whatever you want to put him in. I think I might have some photos somewhere...

Huh. One of them must have been plotting with Azrael as he seems to be accumulating his own male harem. Not that I mind. It's just a little inconvenient given the size of my bedroom. SD guys are big...but I adore them.

I think I'll give taking the hands off a miss then and stick to making sure his sleeves are big enough!
I have the 70-001 body and I agree it will get into some good poses, but it's really hard to start off with everything in the right direction! He has the extra thigh joints as well.... his hips tend to pop out unpleasantly and then the thigh joints swivel.... and then I have to take his pants off to sort out what's happened! His shoulders and elbows do the same thing so that after I've dressed him he has a nasty habit of looking like he's just fallen out of a plane! Poor guy.... I do quite like the body, but it drives me crazy compared to my other big guy (Doll Leaves) whose joints just stay how you put them and doesn't tie himself in knots all the time!

Elve - wow! She's turned out very interesting!

 

elve - Your Una looks cool like that! Never mind the mismatching colours, the DC body works quite well with her wings. Your Clovera is so cute! She's clearly pulling the puppy-eyed 'please don't sell me' look on you.

Sylphe_7 - The 70-003 body's hips don't tend to pop out unless I make them do it which is nice, the thigh joints are a bugger to get into position because they're a little tight, but they work really well once they're popped out into position. My DollShe guy has little notches on his joints to prevent them from swiveling around unnaturally, but I've found they limit his movements even though he holds poses better in comparison to Azrael's body. I regularly take off Az's hands to swap them for his jointed ones (which are the biggest yaoi hands I've ever seen) and so I've nearly mastered the art of putting him back together. I think I've developed a weird habit of pulling my dolls apart just to see how their inside work.

 

Fei-Lau has quite large hands (he's on the 68cm body) but fortunately for me, he wears stuff without sleeves or wide sleeves so his hands aren't much of an issue n dressing him. He's also only got 1 DZ hand as his other arm is the RD mecha arm and that has jointed hands, although the hand itself is the same size as his DZ one, maybe even a touch larger (the arm is for RD 70's and is a smidge longer than the DZ 68cm arm).

Khale wear DZ armour claw hands as his defaults and while those are jointed, the claws and spikes on the fingers can and do get caught in the sleeves frequently, particularly around the arm hole where it's narrowest. I've learned to go slowly when dressing him because of his hands. His default Leeke hands are ginormous (as are his feet) but the hands attach with magnets and a twist-lock system. That sounds good in theory but they almost never actually lock in place and fall off if you breathe on them too hard.
