Ah once they're all blushed they'll look better. Thanks for the compliment Girrl - Azrael just has the most gorgeous face sculpt and I'm so very glad he was the first doll I decided to buy. Now, onward to your photostory!

I finally got delivery yesterday on something I'd order from DZ (through MoC). It was exactly 6 months to the day. And it was just a doll bag not even a doll. I'm quite pleased with the bag as now I have something proper to carry my big boys in, but that was a hellishly long wait for just a bag. What was causing the huge delay with DZ? Does anybody know?

 

The delay on your order was caused by ordering through a dealer who most likely also ordered dolls...
But the delay at Dollzone started with the Chinese new year in 2014 (Januari/ first week februari). I think most of their personel did not return and they had to find new personel, train them etc and that on top of two events... In comparison, I received my end of oktober 2013 order at a dealer in december 2013 before or just after Christmas...

 

I've ordered through MoC multiple times. Fei-Lau (DZ Edward) was actually ordered through them and that was pretty quick although that was about 2 years ago, I think. Mind you, the RD part of that order took a while, but I knew that going in as they were having long delays but I wanted the safety of a dealer with regards to RD and it minimized my shipping to have both come through MoC. The DZ waiting room was talking about long delays on orders from DZ even if you placed one directly from the company, which is why I wondered what was going on since nobody seemed to know.

 

You're so right elve, they would be both lovely in their old tan... I hope they will stop one day that carrotey non sense of a tan... and replace it with a nicer one, not translucent please! I find both face lovely, except that I have noticed again that the eyes were not symetrical, so my bank account is safe for now... I wonder if the new nb58-002 will have a smaller bust as an option...

 

I'm kind of falling in love with the new 1/3 girl bodies. It looks like there is a small and large breast option. Or it looked like it when you look for the bodies by themselves. The heads are nice too but those bods make me happy. I have some floating heads that may get a body soon now.

Once upon a time DZ put out a quite lovely tan, not too brown, not too orange (like on Yumeko -- I got her in late 2010), I dunno why they couldn't stick with that shade!

 

I think it's a whole new body, not a small breast/large breast thing... The torso is constructed differently on both bodies (the earlier one has a joint right under the breasts, the new one's joint is lower), the new body has different knee joints and it has thigh joints too, unlike the previous body.

In a way that's too bad, because I prefer the more jointed body, but those breasts are so huge .

Is it me, or does Minas look like an adult version of Doll Chateau's Alma? I have to say, I adore her face...

 

I do not see Alma in her, but I do see links to some of the DZ msd´s - but she might have been created by the same sculptor?

And I like the body a whole lot! Including the breasts. But I am a bit scared the body is too thin in the legs and arms - and might have the same kickiness that the DC bodies have (a total turn down for me). I will have to have a good look at all the sizes - and maybe it will be an option for on of my floating heads here. I have a DIM Marcellina that needs a smaller SD body and an artist head that might look good on it too.

If people start e-mailing Dollzone with the question if there is also a smaller breasts torso piece available they might make one?



Just to try I put my Switch Shiho head on this Dollzone B60-003 body. What do you think of this hybrid?

And to improve the ability to slouch I modded the piece that is stuck inside the body to guide the elastic. All it did was doing was making sure the upper chest part snapped back which would make the body fall over backwards when sitting. It was very annoying.

Dollzone and Doll Chateau are the same team and sister companies. That's why they share the same resin even!

 

I think we have to see it as 1 company with two different lines, where DC carries the more extreme dolls. But like with more extreme things: when you get used to them they do not look so extreme anymore.
It is actually a good strategy for Dollzone to move away from mainstream. They are different and recognisable. (And their DC dolls even more so)

 

Yeah DC and DollZone are one and the same, it's a good thing though - DC takes care of the more unusual sculpts, while DZ takes care the more normal looking sculpts and that makes it easy to differentiate between sculpts. It certainly makes them unique and gives them a way to satisfy customers of all persuasions.

 

I have to say that I prefer the look of the older DZ sculpts. I don't like how the more recent ones are slowly morphing into the DC style. That aesthetic is not one I appreciate at all.

I've seen a few DZ tans and they really do swing all over the place. There's 2 in my local group from different times and the colours are very different. Like zero chance of ever resin matching. I think that was my first introduction into resin matching and how it could differ even within the same company.

 

Yeah, resin matching is hard enough between two different companies, let alone within one company who is as fickle about their tan colouring as DollZone. >.<

I can see what you mean Iron_Dog, but so far they have only really released new female sculpts, so until we see what the new male sculpts are going to look like. Having said that, there's probably a good chance of them discontinuing a bunch of the older male 1/3 sculpts in the near future to make room for any of these potential new sculpts.

 

I'm glad I got my boy when I did. Fortunately for my wallet, none of the other sculpts speak to me although I do have a bit of a soft spot for the Wing-1 and Mo-2 sculpts. I know a company needs to change and evolve, especially in this hobby, but the slide into the more DC side of the scale isn't for me and I hope they don't follow suite with their boys.

 

I agree with you and Iron_Dog. I believe Leslie was the most recent boy release, and I still like his look very much. He's on my wishlist, but I do not want him in that orange translucent tan. I am surprised that DZ has not made more males to go along with their new females. Aesthetically, in my opinion, I think the current males and females do not go together.

Personally (as can be seen by my signature) I prefer DZ's old look in their sculpts for both males and females. I like their angular features, and I liked the large eyes they used in their original female sculpts. The girls' expressions were very strong and independent, and you could tell they wouldn't take any crap from anyone!!

Here's a tan comparison pic. Sabra (left) is from 2012, and Akone is from 2007. She is slightly yellower than he is. Though they do not match perfectly, they still look good next to each other.

Raymond was the last male - and I agree, there should be some new males now. And since they have had the SD girls - tinies - yo's and msd's it will either be the SD boys that are next or the animal sculpts?

 

I like the darker tans but not the ones that have that orangey spray-tan sort of look that DZ has produced in the past. I think their light tan of 2013 should've been called sun-kissed as it wasn't really what many thought/had the mental image of what a tan doll should be. I think it was still nice, but if I'd ordered tan then and gotten a doll that light, I'd have been a little disappointed.

I had my AoD tan boy at a meet once and there was an older DZ tan there and when we put the two next to each other... whoa. The orange tones of the DZ doll were REALLY in your face apparent next to my tan doll. AoD did a lovely butterscotch tan and it's a pure shame they stopped making it. It was very stable, too, as Moswen (the tan doll) has been all over the place and the head I got at the same time (an error on AoD's part with regards to the colour), which has lived exclusively in a box for the past 6 years, is the same colour as Moswen (or so slightly different that I can't tell even when compared in direct sunlight).

 

elve, I think my photo is pretty accurate to life, Akone and Sabra's tans have never been dark.

I really like Sabra and Akone's tans galatia9, they're both slightly different as you pointed out, but they look quite natural.

 

Quiet and Insane - I love your Raymond! I don't like the DZ newer sculpts so much either. I'm glad I ordered my Yuu before they might have discontinued him. And I got a lucky break with the resin colour too. Phew.....

 

Hehehe, thanks Sylphe_7! He got some new clothes over Xmas from Tata's Paradise and they gave me this cute little wine glass as a gift, so Azrael's been enjoying that (responsibly).

Yuu is a gorgeous sculpt, and I've got him down on the 'one day maybe' list. There's a lady in my local doll group who has a tan Yuu from a couple years back and he's delightful. I love the sculpt's pointy nose! XD

 

I really like this new girl body (with the smaller boobs) however i'm just not fan of the hands (never have been with DZ's hands, they have a particular style to them and never liked them) I wonder what some alternatives would be?

 

Souldoll hands might fit.

I've had my Morphoa just sitting on my shelf unloved and blank for quite a few months now... it's been so hard trying to find the inspiration to transform her into something. I will definitely look into Souldoll hands now.

I really like both Minas and Riven but I don't understand why there's no choice with bust size when they are more on the extreme size. Also I'd love to have them available in an ebony resin just like I'd love to have that color choice in some of my favorite companies, like Doll Chateau and Doll In Mind. With DCs interest in producing provocative and unique dolls, I think an ebony choice would be of interest to them and just look so very beautiful. I was going to order a Minas or Riven in tan but the bust size stopped me.

 

Glad I never need to worry about boob size when trying to get a doll just right (I only have boys).

How funny is it that I've FINALLY got the SD doll bag from DZ so I can now carry my big boys safely and... the weather has turned so freaking cold (it was -18C when I left for work this morning with a windchill making it feel like -27C), I don't want to bring them outside in that for the 15 minute walk to work.

 

Hi there! I'm new to the thread and wanted to share my DZ June! Her name is Rosalind, Rosie for short. She has a beautiful custom faceup by IzabethS. She needs more clothing. >.>

She's on a Mystic Kids 1/3 girl body and she matches wonderfully!

she was the first dollzone girl I alwyas wanted.
Pony I don't like this extream bust in Minas body but there' an option to order her head with Cornelia's / Amelia's body.

 

Thank you Honorata! She was my grail doll. I was able to purchase her head from a friend, I'm so thankful. ^^; I go back and forth because of her size, as I prefer tiny dolls. She's one of my favorite sculpts!

Yay! You posted Rosie! I always love seeing her on Flickr, I really think you should keep her even if she is a tad big for your tastes. Once you have your grail you shouldn't let it go, especially if it's a discontinued sculpt!

Quiet and Insane: Thank you! :3 I'm considering getting her a different wig. Although I love the MK body, her head looks a little pin-headed sometimes. I think a wig with more volume would work better. Maybe layers. Hm. xD

Love your June, cutiepie! We don't see her sculpt often enough. I love the shape of her eyes, and Rosalind's faceup gives her so much character. I like that she doesn't look too young.

What a long wait, Sylphe_7! Why did he take so long? I waited six months for my DZ Linlan, but I felt she was well worth it. I love Yuu, I think he is my favorite DZ sculpt.

I think I ordered him at exactly the wrong time when they just hit the really long delays. I had to wait so long I cheered myself up by buying other dolls while I was waiting (so that's all your fault DZ! XD). I was seriously starting to think I didn't want him anymore, but now he's here I love him to bits!

(The last couple of weeks delay don't count - he was getting his face up)

I had just about lost interest in him. My doll plans changed so much while I was waiting for him that I didn't think I wanted him any more. I thought at least if he didn't turn out to be part of a very pink batch I could use the body for one of my floating heads! But, now I've got him there's no way his head's going back in a box!

I got him through Angelesque, but I know there were a lot of people who ordered through different dealers waiting a very long time as well. DZ just seemed to have got into a massive backlog somehow.

 

Thank you everyone for your kind words about Rosie! I'm currently thinking about getting her different eyes and wig, but I'm not sure. Sometimes her wig makes her look pin-headed on the MK body. Then other times I just love it so much. xD I had her pretty much planned out before I got her. She had her default faceup, but it was chipped, and not fixable. I LOVE her even more with the custom faceup. Iza did do a great job, as always! I need to get some more pictures of her!
