Dollzone Baby BB 26cm discussion part 1

thanks cutiepie the wig is from fatiao on ebay (size 6-7) I think Star is a gorgeous little face, and I have been convinced slowly that Star is a BOY - I had mine as a girl at first, but there is just something boyish about that sullen expression (mother of one boy speaking!) However I don't think Star is especially childlike - In my group photo above I think he looks like a teenager, in fact they both look a lot older bald!

 

elve -Too bad about your having to get a new camera! I love my Sony Cybershot DSC-W570-it has a macro setting and takes great pictures. I have never even messed with the settings. It automatically knows when to switch to macro, low light, and it has a face recognition that even recognizes doll's faces. I have tried an Olympus digital camera and hated it. It took great outdoor pictures, but was horrible indoors even on macro setting. I have always used Sony, so maybe you get used to one camera company's way of doing things and crossing over is difficult?

I got them finished -almost! The outfits are done, and yes, the girls even have panties. I also worked on their wigs and like how they look. The wigs are fake fur that I got off ebay for super cheap. They are really thin, but I think it works better on the smaller dolls. I did have to cut and style the boys wigs -no mess ups, phew. I still want to make them shoes, sigh. As for face ups, I'm not looking forward to that. I did one, so I can do four more, right?

For anyone new, let me introduce my DZ crew left to right: Tori (Hiro in yellow skin, girl), Kite (Tengyuan in ws, boy), Levi (Nyu in tan, boy), Brin (Mika in pink skin, boy), and Eri (GuoGuo in ws, girl). One odd thing: GuoGuo's head is one size bigger than the others so she takes a 6-7 wig. Other than that, the bodies are all the same so making clothes was relatively easy. I wanted to have them standing up, but since I need to suede them to get them too, sitting is good! It was a cloudy day so the indoor light was bad so the skin tones don't look right. However, the normal pink was from a really LIGHT batch, so Brin looks white with pink undertones, and Levi is an odd light tan color too. It doesn't bother me, but not what I was expecting from previous years colors.

awww it's great to see them all together kurogane - Well done on the sewing and wig-making! Glad I'm not the only one putting off glue-sueding the lot of them too My gang are still all naked, but I spent today sorting out some kind of head covering for them all - I think I might swap heads on tan Mika/Nyu too as I was convinced Mika was the girl till I realised my mistake - he has lovely pink lips and cheeks! Neither of these wigs fit (I don't have any in the right size in fact) but they'll do for now....They are also in the pale tan from last year, which is quite a nice colour I think, just not very 'tan'

 

elve -Thank you! Wow, I do like Mika in tan, lol. It's amazing how different they can look from each other. Now that these have been discontinued, I wonder what DZ will replace them with. I kinda wish I had not traded my Miss K. I would love to be able to get her again, just on the human body as I don't like the paws. I think she would look great in tan or yellow. I was hoping DZ would have made more animals, especially a monkey!

 

why not just order a blank kitty head kurogane? You have a load of 27cm bodies - they could share maybe? Kitty hasn't been discontinued, neither has bunny - just Mika and Co. I really don't like the paws on the kitty body either - but you can buy a pair of human hands to swap them out with - Or better yet, an AoD 1/4 body

And yes I do love Mika - he's my favourite of the gang - I think it's because he makes such good eye contact compared to the other sculpts, and has such a cheeky expression

 

I couldn't do much with my Miss Kitty on her default body, which is why I upgraded her to a DC body. The body is being used by my Chinese Dragon Girl (who I should post more) and her paws have been replaced with little claw feet from the chinese dragon body. The paws are adorable, but they're not very expressive.

 

yes I love my 1/4 sized Miss Kitty too! I tried a different wig yesterday but it was really hard to get the ears to stick through it - the default miss kitty wig is really quite well designed for that head, although I also had it on a normal YOSD and it looked lovely too - I have been very impressed by the newer dollzone wigs, although the old ones I bought (from their really old fullsets) were awful - very small and not great quality - Tan Mika is wearing an older designed, MSD sized wig in that photo above! Meanwhile here are the white kids - Mika and Jane - their wigs are in fact for the 16cm dollzone dolls - and it's a bit of a stretch getting them on, but they do fit and stay on nicely once you get there! I like the way dollzone's done the faceups on these little dolls - very subtle - Mika's little pink nose is cute too

 

elve -Awww, the Mika cuteness!! Mika was my first and I still love that adorable face! Thanks, I had forgotten you could just get a Miss K head. What a great idea! Maybe even a Mr Bunny too, even if he IS scary!

thanks auntbear I did get a pink Mika and Nyu too - My son has the pink Mika now as he really liked his cute face too! This is an old photo from last year, of the Pink (very pale) Mika and tan Nyu - they are wearing barbie size clothes I found on ebay

 

Oh, elve, both your & Your son's Mikas, Jane & Nyu are all so cute I just love the style proportions of these cuties with the cute little roundish heads on the very slightly elongated bodies, I am sorry I didn't know about them when they were still available!

 

The bodies hybrid nicely too for smaller sized dolls. This is my DZ Chinese Dragon Girl on the Miss Kitty body with the claw feet from the chinese dragon body. Talulah really doesn't get photographed much...

 

Oh wow, they do hybridize very nicely with your Chinese Dragon Girl parts there, IzabethS! She's so cute

 

thanks JenKat It's a shame I lost internet connection all through April, or I could have spammed my tinies before they stopped making them! The bodies do need glue-sueding ideally, which is a bit of a pain for someone like me, who avoids even changing eyes! They do pose unsueded if you persist slowly and patiently!Pink Mika is sueded and he's really poseable now, whereas before, his head would swivel etc. I have heard they take blythe tops, depending on style, but not tried anything other than vintage sindy clothes so far, which fit if the waist isn't a nipped in style. Shoes are hujoo ones from mimiwoo, and ....tonner marley? from releaserain

Talulah is really cute IzabethS - I love the faceup etc. and the way you've styled her - I have NO imagination with my dolls - not even the dragons!

 

Due to awesome weather I decided to pull Valeriana apart and start working on her blushing...so there's not too many photos of her apart from progress shots...you'll see her again in one piece soon enough.

 

ooh I forgot to post a pic of Rose, my 3rd Nyu girl - I think I like her best of the 3, although I'm not sure why - must be a subtle difference in her eyes or faceup? Plus pink hair is always a winner in my opinion this is another old style dz midi wig - I think it might be Kimi's default? Very tiny though - just a little loose on a 5-6" head!

 

I couldn't resist taking a photo of my cutie patootie, Yogr today - s/he has such a choochie little face I totally love it Yogr is like a lovely surprise to me every day - I hated the sight of her for a while last year, boxed her up to sell until I needed her to model some clothes I was selling. I tried a 'boy's' wig on her, and she was adorable!

 

elve wow so many little ones you got *v* And they are all so pretty~ I especially love the picture with your son's Mika because they have so much attitude in that one! XD Ahhh, I can't wait to get my Mika home already ;;3;;

thanks Shailara You will love your Mika - he's such a cutie - And yes he has a great pose in that photo WITH NO SUEDING - Really I don't think I will bother to glue-suede my 27cm gang after all - they seem perfectly OK at the moment! Maybe they are afraid of the glue gun

Meanwhile I have been experimenting with my (not so great) new camera, to try and wring the best shots out of it possible - I think this is as good as it gets! ('Pet' automatic setting and VGA size photos - Flash OFF) They still need the levels of brightness etc tweaking on camera or in photoshop, which is what I'm used to using so I've not tried it on the camera. My dragons, still nameless, characterless and full of potential, have moved into their own cave today! They might have got knocked over where they were before, and that's my worst nightmare! So they are waiting some styling magic now

And I noticed Diana (new name for white Nyu - was Jane but the wig and all, reminds me of Princess Diana!) She has one eye not beveled out properly, so she looks cross-eyed from above - but good from the front or below - I wondered why I couldn't get her eyes the same as the other 2 girls!

 

sorry to double post - but I was forced to stay up till 1.30am last night as my son finished his exam coursework - What else could I do but play with dollies? I thought I'd sort out the box of doll clothes.... And found to my astonishment that I could cobble together some outfits for several of the dolls! GAH!!! I am such an idiot buying MORE doll clothes last week - now I can't afford wigs! The biggest FIND in the box was something still in its packet - had it over a year I think, had no dolls to fit it, I just couldn't resist it at the time. It's from yukijiro on etsy (la princessa) and is exquisite - Made for Blythe - and looks like it was Made for Nyu It's a full length Blythe dress, so it's knee length on her - and amazingly her hands did just fit through those tiny sleeves! So of course my littlest princess, Diana (far right) had to have it - perfect for her Pink Rose (centre) has some poinsettia04 (etsy) leggings and a YOSD size dress - waaaaay too big, but it can be pinned at the back to fit, and it's a halter-neck style, so that's adjustable too (also fits the dz dragons beautifully, which is who it was originally bought for) And Bhavni (far left) has a cute playsuit made from some Poinsettia04 bloomers with a vintage Sindy blouse made by fairy glen - from an ebay bundle I got last year. So now just my poor Mikas are naked - and guess who I bought clothes for last week? Yes - the girls! Both Mikas are NOT amused at the thought of having to wear girl's clothes!



While I was playing, I decided to dress the dragons up as Mori girls, using another yukijiro dress for Moon, and a halter neck poinsettia04 dress for Star, with a yukijiro Blythe apron tied as a cape!

 

It really just makes me happy to watch this thread lol, and seeing all these cuties! I wish I had a reason to have bought a Hiro but I kept double guessing myself T.T maybe one day! AAAAW! All the dragon love! Cutiepie, I think she looks fantastic and very mature I want to do this now XD all your fault

Thanks, Elve! Her faceup is by Iza! :3 I love it. I love two-toned wigs! I'm really glad this one fits well, (also from Iza, haha).Your dragons are just so cute. I love looking at the dragons. I had one for awhile before I got my moon head only to go on the Alberta body. Their bodies are really neat. I love how chubby they are! I also adore their little claws of cute!

Thanks, Ballet! I completely encourage it, bahahah. Makin' it worse. ;D I think it's a cool hybrid. I'm glad I was finally able to do it! I thought it would be a lot harder, but when I set my mind on it, I did it! I love hybrids!

I've also decided to make the Star a boy and get a DC Amos body for him. :3 Gonna be awhile before I can accomplish that, but I will try!

thank you so much Ballet, Mortifox and cutiepie I like this look for them too - if only I had more than one wig which fit! Moon stole this wig from my 1/4 dz Flora, who stole it from Star - And now Star is sulking because SHE looked best in the wig! (See Star has morphed back into a girl as soon as I see a pretty dress for her LOL)

Star's wig in the pic is a dz 1/4 wig, and as you can see it is way too big, but I spent all my doll money on clothes for the Mikas and Nyus this time - so the dragons must wait patiently for wigs I have just tried to economise by buying some Ken clothes on ebay for the 2 Mikas (Ken is Barbies boyfriend) - I hope they will fit, although the pants will need to be made shorter I think.

cutiepie I LOVE that delicate faceup which Zeriya has! A natural look is what my Mori Dragons need too - if only I could do faceups

 

I've had a difficult time finding a wig for Zeriya. I originally had a YoSD one, can't remember the brand, and it was too small. So I got a MSD Luts one, too big. This one is a Leekeworld MSD one, I believe. It fits nicely! It doesn't pop off or slide around it's great!

Those dresses look great on them, too! I always wondered how I was gonna dress my dragon girl when I had her. xD

I can't do faceups either! I send them to my friends. xD I like natural faceups as well as fantastical ones. I love Zeriya's because (it's not easy to see with my Kindle camera) she has white freckles around her eyes. I love her eyelashes too. It's like a mixture between the two. I really need to take better pictures of her. Iza did such a great job!

I'm working on some clothes for Zeriya today! I'm excited about it. Here's some Zeriya spam for now. I took it yesterday with the other, but closer up. :3

she's fantastic cutiepie - absolutely perfect I think And yes I also find wig sizes totally hit and miss, even from the same seller! I've currently got tinies with 5-6" heads wearing midi sized wigs; midis wearing YOSD sized wigs, and SD size dolls wearing midi wigs

 

Thanks! I think so too. She's exactly what I wanted! I'm almost done with her outfit. I went shopping for stuff to make for her today. I'm so excited about it! I can't wait to share a picture! That's crazy with all the wigs! It's so weird how they work out, huh? XD

well I have great news for anyone trying to dress the 27cm body! Got Mika's trousers today, and they're a perfect fit! Only bought them a couple of days ago! Only £3! Just search ebay for 'Ken Clothes' - I always filter for 'buy now' and 'uk only' as I'm impatient

And here's another pic of my hybrid - Kitty This isn't her proper outfit - just something I cobbled together for her the other night from the clothing box - because stupidly I'd forgotten the AoD body comes WITH underwear! Perfect - and to think I nearly bought her some last week LOL - She's got some SD sized socks for stockings, and an SD sized blouse for a wrap, just to make her decent till her outfit comes from Alices!
